  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Does "equality" even matter to Jesus?

Fair wages yes... But equal living no. I believe scripture supports that notion.
To put it another way.
Children in school, have differing abilities. Then there are those with disabilities that need special help. But there are those within normal ability ranges, which differ due to behaviour. Someone capable of getting a's gets d". They don't study, they drink, smoke pot dont do himework. Then those that study, do their homework, don;t drink, or smoke pot. Their education is important to them, they work for that grade. Are you going to take the A from the one, to give credit the D so they equal out?
So far they just made it so they are all equal in low standards for learning in school. Equalling them out in what they don't learn.
There is also a acknowledgement that some students need more years or time to learn something as brains develop differently different talents, usually they try to find something they like and are good with

The Trump DOJ goes "woke" and will target free speech.

Very often the ones most sensitive or offended are also the worse offenders. As Christians we must be willing to be vulnerable as we model the behavior we want to see on others. I am pretty poor at it. Does that mean walk on eggshells? It takes deep discernment to decide between holding your peace and turning the tables over.

We must be able to communicate and discuss civilly if we want to survive as a nation.

We do not do that. If someone does not want to go to school they are left to their own in school they do get picked up to school anyway. Then they are sent to specialist class where they usually can choose to learn or not they do get support, or they are made to re do school or go to a more practical learning school learn a trade or something. As well as those who do their home work do get the grades they deserve but those who does not do not. It is more the treatment not be treated badly.

In scandinavia equality equals everyone having same standard of living, being treated fairly and with respect, all that. But it does not mean and never meant accepting immorality or ungodliness.

ABC pulls Jimmy Kimmel Live after comments on Charlie Kirk

This is more like Eric Cartman in that South Park episode where he singing a lament about the "minorities are the authorities... in my water park". It's mean to signal grievance. "Look at the world now days, how messed up it is... where black people can fly airplanes!" It's not meant to withstand critical analysis at face value, it's meant to turn a successful black person into a parable of grievance: "once the world made sense for white dudebros like you and me, white airplane captains would pat the stewardess in a friendly manner on the butt before they flew off to Tahiti to sip their Mai Tai's on the beach, but now, because of those horrible, horrible civil rights laws, you will be lucky if you don't have to flip burgers at the local burger shack until you are 73"
I think you got right to the core of the fear we see among formerly-privileged demographics.

The people who hate America hate Trump.
That's a nonsensical statement. I love America, for all its faults. Trump? He despicable. If anyone hated America then they'd consider Trump a bonus. Putin springs to mind.

DOJ Quietly Deletes Study After Charlie Kirk's Death That Says Right-Wing Extremists Engage in 'Far More' Political Violence

Here's my question:
Is there an obligation to have conversations based on facts?
Yes. And Some of this has been brought up in the news..but in the hearing today it was mentioned by Tlib in screeming match. Not much came out. So, let's wait for those facts come out.

The standards are not lowered in any way that would affect combat performance.

Women and men don't differ in their ability to tolerate G-Forces, which is a big consideration in flying a combat fighter plane. Assuming that a given woman is tall enough to fit into the cockpit of a particular aircraft, there's no physical reason she can't perform that role. Shorter, stockier people actually have an advantage in handling G-Forces compared to taller, thinner people.
Unless it's that time of the month.

He said if he saw a black pilot, he would question their ability just because they are black. That's what he said in not so many words.

There are no "DEI hires" in aviation. It just doesn't happen. They spent hours learning basic physics, flight envelopes, and emergency procedures they'll probably never need on simulators and trainers before they are even allowed anywhere near a real airliner.

I don't think Kirk though honestly was this stupid. He just had a big mouth and liked saying shocking things that made his audiences soft racism feel affirmed.
After the fatal shooting of Turning Point USA founder and CEO Charlie Kirk, a conservative commentator and ally to U.S. President Donald Trump, a rumor spread that he had once said Black women like television presenter Joy Reid; former first lady Michelle Obama; former Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, a Democrat from Texas; and Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson did "not have the brain processing power to be taken seriously."

It's worth noting that Kirk had no hope of matching the academic records of people like Michelle Obama or Ketanji Brown. Not that intellectual superiority is everything; Kirk had a talent for rhetoric and persuasion that made him wealthy. But his bitter envy of his intellectual superiors who were also black is another window into his character.

Yes, it was a fatuous argument. I'm glad it wasn't too subtle to grasp. Now you can check out the percentages for golf and CEOs and surgeons and ballet etc.

It's the corollary of the point he did actually make. Hey, a black pilot! Are we safe? Because gee, he might have got those 4 stripes just because he's black, not because he's a good pilot.

And I'll point this out yet again. Kirk wasn't an idiot. He knew that the implication was bat guano crazy. You'd really have to be an imbecile to think that an airline would drop their standards for minorities in regard to hiring pilots. So I'll let you give us your explanation of why he said what he did.

Right, this isn't about facts in the usual sense, but signaling to a group that you get their grievances.

Trump to designate antifa a 'major terrorist organization'

They're not the far right. They're normal people who are opposed to violence.
It's an honest mistake for them to make. They are so far left that anyone who is centre or slightly right is "far" right from their perspective.
