Emotional testimony from the far corners of the world as the Pontifical Missions Society brings the Eucharist to those most in need.

Now serving as director of The Pontifical Missions Societies USA, Msgr. Roger Landry has been traveling the globe bringing Christ to the far corners of the Earth.

His latest travels brought him to Vietnam, where he visited Catholics suffering from leprosy. Giving witness to what he saw after celebrating Mass in a beautifully packed church, Msgr. Landry said:

“Then we had the great privilege to take Jesus to those lepers in this colony who are incapable of getting to Mass,” recalling, “The first leper we visited, with great hunger, looked up to the Lord through watery eyes and received the Lord on his tongue because he no longer had hands. His hands had been given back to God. And he received with great faith.”

Msgr. Landry shared another encounter he had with in the leper colony in Kon Tum, “to bring Communion to a woman in her home.”

Trump's strongest support is actually among people that are nominally religious, rural and suburban white Americans who hold Christianity as more of an ethnic or cultural identifier than a religious practice. They aren't people deeply involved in their religion.

There are many devout Christians who support Trump because they perceive him as being pro-life.
The support of churches for Trump gives others crises of faith. If my church told us to rob a store and give them the money I'm sure very few would follow, but personally I feel like voting for Trump would be far more sinful.
I do not criticize pro-lifers for following their pastors, but my faith was restored when Pope Francis acknowledged that Trump creates a lot of evil.
A friend, a retired psychologist who is now deceased, worked hard for pro-life ministries, especially helping young moms and babies in the first few years of life. During the 2016 election, he was on oxygen. He always sat in the front row at church, near the organ where I played, and I could hear the hum of the oxygen machine.
I overheard him talking to another man, obviously in great conflict, about how he was "required" to vote for Trump. Being an accomplished mental health professional, he understood exactly how dangerous and harmful a leader Trump would be, and yet he believed that the Catholic Church was telling him he had no other choice--vote for a man whom forty years of clinical psychological practice told him was deranged and dangerous, or commit serious sin. In a blessed moment, the priest in his homily read an excerpt from U.S. Catholic in which Pope Francis said, "The Church should inform consciences, not replace them."
Hopefully Pope Francis' words gave him some peace.

“Living In the Red”
Matthew 10:16-20 NIV
I am sending you out like sheep among wolves. Therefore be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves. Be on your guard; you will be handed over to the local councils and be flogged in the synagogues. On my account you will be brought before governors and kings as witnesses to them and to the Gentiles. But when they arrest you, do not worry about what to say or how to say it. At that time you will be given what to say, for it will not be you speaking, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.

I recently saw a commercial advertising medicine that would lower risks for people who struggle with certain health conditions. As I watched this brief commercial, the thought suddenly came to mind about how medicine allows so many people to avoid the risk of “living in the red”. That phrase just stuck in my mind for a little bit as I thought about how so many of us take medications and are encouraged to live in certain ways to avoid living in the red danger zone. No one likes to live with dangerous health number levels. When we get blood tests, we want to see numbers in the normal range. We tend to cringe and realize needed lifestyle changes when we see high numbers.

As I considered this while watching the commercial and after for a while, I thought about how we so often do the same thing in our spiritual lives. While we definitely do not want to “live in the red” with our health, we honestly tend to also think this way with our spiritual lives. We tend to want to do everything possible to stay in the “normal” range and not leave our comfort zones. We know that Jesus calls us to live for Him and obey where He calls us to go, but we don’t want to get our hands dirty and live risky lives as He has called us to live.

Jesus NEVER called us to live comfortable lives. In a sense, He has definitely called us to “Living in the red”! He wants us to take risks and trust that He will be with us and bless us as we step out in faith for Him. He often calls us to leave our comfort zones and trust that He will guide us through difficult and trying situations.

Think of so many situations with people in Scripture where God called them to do amazing things for Him. I don’t think anyone did anything incredible without living in the red, getting out of their comfort zones. The great and powerful stories we read about in Scripture from Genesis to Revelation are people who took risks because they trusted God to lead. We all need to be more willing to do things God calls us to do that we are uncomfortable with. We all know and are probably cringing right now thinking of what we’ve been putting off that God is calling us to.

God has called us to a life of “living in the red”. He challenges us to grow in our faith and trust Him in all situations. I want to encourage all of us to think of what areas in our lives God is challenging us to leave our comfort zones and step out in faith. How does God want you and I to be bold in living in the red?

God never promised us an easy life! Even though we often want that, He never commanded that and never intended that by sending Jesus Christ to us. The journey of life we are all on is intended to be “living in the red”.

In 2017 Pope Francis expressed his desire to create a single service for the ecclesial movement. Two years later, this desire became a reality with the birth of CHARIS, which currently is under the Dicastery for the Laity, the Family, and Life.

OCD is very treatable, and it is possible to experience a lot of improvement. You can take medication to help with the physical symptoms, but whether or not you do, it is important to address the mental aspect of it. Two effective therapies for OCD are CBT and ERP therapy. There are also a lot of helpful and encouraging resources on the internet. Here are a few good ones...

Online coaching is available at Scrupulosity.com: Faith-based Solutions for Religious OCD - Scrupulosity.com, and there are also a lot of good blog articles there. There are also a lot of resources about scrupulosity at OCD and Scrupulosity - ACCFS and Mark DeJesus. I have also found the following books to be helpful... Breaking Free of OCD: My Battle With Mental Pain and How God Rescued Me by Jeff Wells, and Strivings Within - The OCD Christian: Overcoming Doubt in the Storm of Anxiety by Mitzi VanCleve. That's not comparable. Muhammed is not necessarily presented as a 'hero' in Islam, merely the last of the prophets, and a recipient of revelation.

I hope you will get some blood tests Sometimes informally you can get an idea of what’s going on with your body. For example, you might find out you have low iron if you press hard on your fingernails and they don’t get pink, but of course a doctor‘s test is best.

Hypothyroidism is the most common health disease in America. Apparently that is due to what is being put on produce. You might want to get your thyroid tested. Along with hypothyroidism also may go problems with adrenal being weak.

Oh, and low iodine can cause fatigue and all kinds of other problems. You might want to check to see that you were getting enough iodine in your diet.

Just some things to think about about. I pray you will find the answer to your problem.

1) I feel like I would speak for every democrat I've seen on this board....at least the frequent posters.

2) That's not an "idea" so it's not a good comparison to what we are talking about..
That is a pleasant little feel good story that seems unclear at best. BLANKET statements were made about "all democrats" that were not true.

That's democrats not bothering to "pander".....I DO agree it's misguided to not just let the kid have a moment...but let's be honest, it's hard to say exactly how many people were (or were not) engaged in that little departure from the business of running the country.

I guess when I responded to a post from long ago, I brought this topic back up to the top op "New Posts" or something like that. I have a paper Bible but I do some online searches when I can't remember chapter and verse of what I want to discuss. I admit to my lack of memorization of the Bible but I did find this......

I have to ask myself how someone who believe in "Bible only" or "Sola Scripura" can believe in anything that the Bible does not say. It says Peter is the Rock. Why is that not understandable? It's a pretty simple statement.

Jesus Christ is known as the "cornerstone" or "capstone." That does not negate Peter's positions "The Rock I will build my church on."

I understand how Protestants want too consider Paul as the Rock. He wrote the most Epistles. However he only learned about Christ through visions and dreams. He did not sit at the foot of Christ and learn his teachings the same way that Simon-Perer, the first Desciple did. Paul is a great visionary, writer, and Apostle (Church Bulder) however, he is not the Rock of The Church or the cornerstone. Peter is the Rock. He went to both Jews and Gentiles. Paul was a Roman Jew hunter that was converted and went to the Gentiles, incorporating some of their practices with the Church. Peter kept the balance between the law and the redemption. Paul disregards the law. That doesn't make him a bad Apostle, but Protestants misinterpret his writings in a way that makes them believe that works are not the measure of faith in the way the St. James instructs us (the brother of Jesus).

As Paulians, do we disregard the scripture of the brother of Christ?

Once again, in our Sola Scripture it is written:

I understand that what I am posting is controversial to a Paulian, however this is the Scriptura in black and white. Why are these ideas so confusing to those who believe in what is written in the Ne Testament? No disrespect to anybody ho believed differently than me.
