To be fair, it was the Supply Officer and not the XO who turned me down. I did go to the XO and he said "SUPPO controls the money, nothing I can do, you could try to turn up the heat." I guess the thermostat works.

Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of the living God – Father, Son Jesus Christ, and Holy Spirit – was born into this world as a human baby, conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of a young woman named Mary. While he lived on the earth he was fully God and fully human (God incarnate), and he was without sin. And while he lived on the earth he performed many miracles, and he preached repentance (death to sin) and obedience to God as necessary components of believing faith in him.

But, although he did good for the people, and not evil, the religious rulers in the temple and in some of the synagogues hated Jesus because he claimed to be God, which is who he was/is, because he was healing people on the Sabbath, because they were threatened by his temporary popularity among the crowds of people, because he did not “kowtow” to their traditions, because he preached repentance and obedience to himself, and because he confronted them in their sins and in their hypocrisies. They did not like that.

So, they plotted out his murder. They had him arrested on false charges, beaten nearly to death, given a mock trial, and had him hung on a cross to die as though he was a common criminal. But in his death on that cross he put our sins to death with him so that, by God-persuaded and God-gifted faith in him we will now die with him to sin and walk in obedience to his commands in holy living, of the Spirit of God, in the power of God, for the glory and praise of God, and for our salvation and eternal life with God.

Now Jesus did not remain dead. On the third day he rose from the dead victorious over sin, death, hell, and Satan. For in this way we continue to grow in our faith and in our salvation to maturity in our Lord and in our surrender to him to do the will of God he has for us to do.

And, by faith in Jesus Christ, not only do we become one with Christ by faith in him, but we become part of his spiritual body to which all who are of genuine faith in Jesus belong. And we are biblical Israel (both Jew and Gentile by faith in Jesus Christ), and we are his church, his spiritual building. And we are to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. Our lives are now to be surrendered to the Lord to do his will, to follow in his ways, and to minister to one another as Jesus does with us.

Therefore, sin is no longer to be what we practice. For if sin is what we practice, deliberately and habitually, and if walks of obedience to our Lord and to his commands are not what we practice, we will die in our sins, and we will not have eternal life with God, regardless of what our lips professed. For faith in Jesus, which saves, is not lip service only. We must die with Christ to sin and now obey him and his commands, in practice, or we do not have salvation from sin nor do we have eternal life with God. It’s the truth!

It doesn't surprise me that Scandinavia countries top the list.

Costa Rica has some of the longest-lived people in the world in the western hemisphere.

Most of these countries value people living relatively 'boring' lives without alot of drama, with harmonious relationships with friends, family, and their community. Most people in them are also not highly polarized along ideological lines.

The bible says the world is under the evil one, and we should not conform to the world in its way of thinking.

According to the Scriptures, those who love God are those who know God intimately, who are in a faith relationship with him via God-gifted and God-persuaded faith in Jesus Christ. And they are those who obey the Lord’s New Covenant commandments, in practice, and for whom sin is not their practice. They are the called according to His purpose, and his purpose for us who believe in him is that we will die with him to sin and now walk in obedience to his commands in holy living, by the grace of God, in the power of God.

For we are the predestined of God to become conformed to the likeness of the Son of God (God the Son), to be like Jesus in thought, attitude, words, and behaviors. But this does not make us perfect. We still live in flesh bodies. But lack of perfection is never to be used as an excuse for deliberate and habitual sin against the Lord or for the ignoring of his commands and for living life for self and for self-pleasure, and not for God and for his will and purpose for our lives. For we were made to be like Jesus, by God’s design.

A life of faith in Jesus Christ should be a life committed to obeying our Lord and to serving him with our lives, for he is to be our Lord (Owner-Master) and we are to be in subjection to him and to his will and purpose for our lives. So we should be following him in his ways, and he should be the one directing our paths. And the Spirit will supply us with Spiritual gifts, and God will assign us our body parts, and then we are to utilize those gifts and body parts within the body of Christ in encouraging one another to live for God.

God has a plan and a purpose for each of us who he foreknew and who he predestined to become conformed to the likeness of character of Jesus Christ, who have trusted in Jesus Christ to be Lord and Savior of our lives. And he wants to show us his plan for our lives if we are willing to listen and to receive his instructions to us and to accept his calling upon our lives. For we are not saved from our sins just so that when we die we get to go to heaven. God saved us so that we will now become who he wants us to be.

Now we live in a crazy world. Chaos and upheaval and lies and liars are all over the place. Wars seem to never cease. Hatred abounds. The news stories are “all over the map,” i.e. in a very confused state. Angst is all throughout the news. Fearmongers are everywhere. So many things are blown way out of proportion and things are being threatened which may or may not ever happen. So if our trust is not in the Lord and in his sovereignty we can end up being very fearful people. So our trust has to be in God and in his Word.

And when he says that he causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose, as already mentioned, these are his followers who walk in obedience to his commands, in practice, and for whom sin is not their practice. And “good” is not necessarily what us humans might consider good, for God says that if we follow him with our lives that we will be hated, and persecuted, and even put to death for our walks of faith and testimonies for the Lord Jesus.

But when God says “for good” he is speaking in his terms, not ours, and he is speaking about what is ultimately going to produce in us what is God’s best for us, even if the process is painful and may not look like “good” to us from a human perspective. But God never promised us that a life of faith in Jesus Christ is going to be “smooth sailing.” He promised the opposite of that, in fact. He promised that we will have to suffer for the sake of righteousness. But God will use this suffering to work good in our hearts.

I don't think anyone can say for certain what the results of the tariffs are going to be, until we see what some of these deals that we are negotiating with other countries are going to look like.

I take it as a good sign that other countries are lining up to negotiate though.

Most of those anti-Israeli protesters are from the left wing, I'd say most antisemites are from that side. Why go after Republicans on this? Most Republicans support Israel. I've never understood why most Jewish people vote Democrat.

Yeah. There is one in my city. I never applied to them. I did apply to Lutheran Family Services multiple times, and 3 interviews for multiple positions, and never got the job.
