  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Could Trump's Tariffs Work?

I don't think anyone can say for certain what the results of the tariffs are going to be, until we see what some of these deals that we are negotiating with other countries are going to look like.

I take it as a good sign that other countries are lining up to negotiate though.

Black pastor warns antisemitism could lead to the 'destruction' of the Republican Party

Most of those anti-Israeli protesters are from the left wing, I'd say most antisemites are from that side. Why go after Republicans on this? Most Republicans support Israel. I've never understood why most Jewish people vote Democrat.

Novena to St. Michael de Sanctis

O glorious Saint Michael,
Seraph inflamed with the most ardent love of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament,
who did spend your nights and days in His Real Presence
and did find there your dearest joys,
so that you did swoon away for very love:
vouchsafe, I pray to you, to obtain for me a lively faith,
a firm hope and an ardent love toward this inestimable Treasure,
this precious Pledge of glory everlasting;
in order that I may be able to be a fervent worshiper of Jesus
in the Blessed Sacrament,
and thereby rejoice with you
to behold Him face to face in an eternity of bliss.

Amen.

Catholic Relief Services, bishops urge House to reinstate some international aid funds

I don’t think so. I mean, they do social services but they are mainly supposed to be a charity. I’ve posted about them several times about them being on the shady side.
Yeah. There is one in my city. I never applied to them. I did apply to Lutheran Family Services multiple times, and 3 interviews for multiple positions, and never got the job.

Praying any Church related industry is faithful to Church teaching! :prayer:

First baby born in UK using transplanted womb

A baby girl has become the first child in the UK to be born to a mother using a donated womb.

The baby’s mother, Grace Davidson, 36, was born without a functioning uterus, and received the womb of her sister Amy in 2023, in what was then the UK’s only successful womb transplant, reports the BBC.

Two years after that pioneering operation, Grace gave birth to a baby girl – weighing just over two kilos (four and a half pounds) – by Caesarean section at Queen Charlotte’s hospital in west London on 27 February. She and her husband, Angus, 37, named their daughter Amy in honour of the sister who provided the womb.

The couple initially wished to remain anonymous, but following the safe arrival of baby Amy they chose to speak to the BBC about their “little miracle”.

Tariffs Are Unlawful, There is no "National Emergency," so let's get those lawsuits going!

Here is a link that will actually work

Trump’s tariffs could face more than one legal challenge

President Donald Trump now faces one legal challenge to his historic tariffs — and even more lawsuits could be on the way.
A nonprofit legal group, the New Civil Liberties Alliance, filed a lawsuit in the U.S. District Court in northern Florida Thursday night, arguing Trump’s use of a national emergency law to justify the 20 percent tariffs that Trump imposed on China earlier this year is illegal. The White House argued that China’s supply of fentanyl and its precursor chemicals to the United States constituted a national emergency.
At issue is a nearly-50-year-old law, the International Emergency Economic Powers Act, that Trump is citing
The question lies - does the President have the authority to enact the "International Emergency Economic Powers Act"

Oh - look!

The International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) grants the President of the United States the authority to regulate international commerce after declaring a national emergency in response to any unusual and extraordinary threat to the United States

yeah, good luck with that!

Senate confirms Mike Huckabee as Trump's US ambassador to Israel

Mike Huckabee shall be a most outstanding ambassador for the USA to Israel. In fact, I really believe that he is going to be the very best and most influential ambassador for this term of Donald Trump's presidency.
Amen! God bless him!

Trump's FDA head Marty Makary calls 'soul care' essential to health, warns spiritual needs often 'neglected'

President Donald Trump's newly confirmed Food and Drug Administration Commissioner, Dr. Marty Makary, emphasized that “soul care” is an essential but often neglected part of one’s overall health, as many tend to focus more on their body’s physical needs.

Makary addressed the issue of soul care, or one’s emotional and spiritual well-being, in his endorsement of a book published this month by Kerry Hasenbalg, The Way of Becoming: 12 Practices for a Thriving Soul. Hasenbalg is the personal soul care advisor to Makary and his wife, as well as CEO of the Becoming Foundation and co-founder of Becoming Academy.

“While many people focus solely on the physical health of their body, we are much more complex. Our soul — our mental, emotional and spiritual health — are often neglected,” Makary said in a statement provided to The Christian Post.
