It seems that the 4000 in Matthew 15 were gentiles.

If the 4000 were gentiles, it seems important.

Gavin Newsom's X feed is awesome

As you seem to have missed, I was addressing the end of post #28 where the poster was equating Newsom's tactics as being what "the kids in the schoolyard say". But hey, if that level of maturity is what the dems want to adopt in order to try to win elections, I can't wait to see their campaign ads next year. ^_^
Something many people seem to have missed: these mocking posts come from Newsom's Press Office Account. IOW, these are staffers posting whereas Donald's childish tantrums and self-praise are from himself.

Gavin Newsom's X feed is awesome

I love how he nails it - the issues of the day summed up with such clarity.
And when Fox try to attack him for it - there's a vast difference at play.
Gavin can turn it off in a second - he's just having fun.
But Fox's guy? He can't help it. That IS him!
This is such an ironic twist in American political strategy!

“It’s our strength and weakness that we stand on virtue” from the guy who slept with a Chinese spy. I just had to laugh out loud at that . The party that glories in Trumps past infidelities can now be proud of Gavin who slept with his best friends wife. Gavin the failure in California is now a hero to the left. Losing residents, businesses and gaining in debt and support for illegal aliens and crime. Great candidate for next presidential election. Bring him on if should be fun. You can’t make this stuff up!

The significance of Paul

I wonder if you can help.

Reading the NT and Jesus, overall, has very little to say in comparison to Paul. I understand Paul was a Jew who, persecuted Christians before becoming a follower of Christ, but did not know Jesus during his lifetime. Paul met Jesus, after he was resurrected, on the road to/from Emmaus.

Feel free to correct any of this that is incorrect.

What I can't understand is how Paul had such authority to a) seemingly become the leader of the disciples and taking ownership of their teachings to Jews/Gentiles b) authority/leadership of the church c) become the main reference within the NT

My understanding is that he was relatively wealthy and could afford to write more than most because he was able to afford paper etc and was well educated in comparison to most of the population.

Where is the biblical reference giving Paul such authority or was it just accepted that it was his by his peers?

Any clarification on these points would be appreciated, thanks
There were three main reasons for Paul’s uniqueness. 1) He was a Pharisee and therefore well-schooled in the Law, 2) He was extremely zealous and conscientious regarding his faith, such as it was before his conversion and, 3) He was uniquely blest/graced by his Damascus Road experience.

God, IOW, used Paul’s particular personality, experience, and position for His purposes. Paul’s conversion was dramatic, by contrast, providing him with a clearer understanding and specific insight into the gospel, especially in the realm of the law vs grace. And he now proclaimed and defended the gospel with the same zeal and intensity with which he formerly persecuted Christians.

Having said that, one must read Paul with a degree of attention and care. Because of his very important and necessary battle against and emphasis on legalism, some have been led to believe that grace is meant to free one altogether from the obligation to be righteous and live accordingly. His words must be read in light of the rest of Scripture, including much of his own writings and, particulary, Jesus' teachings on righteousness/morality as perhaps best expressed in the Beatitudes and the Sermon on the Mount in general, Matt 5.

I believe that ALL who ever lived will be in God’s Kingdom

That's because God is within us. All people. 1 John 4:7

IF we are born here, as humans, through water, the birth sack, we're God's children. Matt. 23:9

When we are engaged in trying to "make ourselves" that is a false gospel that seeks to make "me" better than "you" or differentiate the baseline

God does have other things going on with all of us. The judgment of the wicked messengers transpires in the collective as well.

Ephesians 6:12
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Some wrestle wittingly. Some clueless. Some in denial. But ALL wrestle, regardless and are therefore in service to God in these events.

It's also reasoning to stop being a lying hypocrite and claim exemption from the match

considering i believe this to be true of all ... For God is the One working in you both to will and to work according to His good pleasure. how is it then that i ... as you say seek to make myself better than another ... what gave you this impression that i believe myself better than anyone else, as it has not come from me ... now if you also consider that i have made no claim to being exempt of the process and the scrip is clear all fall short and are subject to bondage etc ... is it not then fair to say that you have interpreted what i write by preconceived thoughts of your own or in other words what you measure is measured back to you, which says more of you than of me ...

Paul wrote letters to the churches in Rome, Corinth, Galatia, Ephesus, Philippi, Colossae, and Thessalonica and more.
His letters stand out from the other apostles' because they are primarily writings to churches he founded thus, having authority to address their unique problems and circumstances. As a traveling missionary it was necessary to communicate through letters in order to correct, direct and advise on a multitude of issues plaguing the integration of believing Jews and Gentiles. In contrast, the other apostles, who were often based in Jerusalem, wrote more general letters that provided practical advice on Christian living, enduring persecution, and general warnings against heresy, rather than responding to the specific needs of a single congregation.
As far as Jesus Christ of Nazareth having " very little to say compared to Paul," we should search the Old Testament with its rich prophetic ,typological and fulfilled words that prepared the way for His comming. Without this knowledge the foundation of Christianity would not exist.

"Singleness is a gift" is actually a lie?

Ideal in this context means the best possible option.
Glad you cleared that up because I thought you understood "ideal" as the ONLY option in your previous post about humans getting extinct due to Christianity.

I'm not suggesting that singleness is a form of rebellion or disobedience, rather it's the lesser of two options.
I don't see how Jesus and Paul would have meant the exact opposite of what they're saying on the subject of being married vs choosing to stay single.

How is that possible?

Antisemitism all time high in UK

Which is a sad thing indeed.

You have "one" idea you want to beat me over the head with. But you're not even applying it properly, and then you misunderstand who I am as a person, assuming I'm a social conservative. I'm actually pretty center there.

The Immaculate Heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary propers, commentary & sermons

Sermons for Everyday Living - The Immaculate Heart of Queen Mary 8/22/25

I believe that ALL who ever lived will be in God’s Kingdom

by faith ...

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
It still amazes me how the tree yields its fruit through obedience ...

For most the verse “Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.” is far off, and filled with the labor (by thought) to be, when it is through rest that we enter or rather, find where we have always been from the beginning …

Hi, I have only recently found God in my heart.

Welcome!

Idolatry

How about providing some quotes so we can get this show on the road? Present your evidence of what you have read, and then folks can agree/disagree.
Just a couple of points:

1) This is not a complete list. I did not take the time to record them all.

2) Not a single early church father promoted idolatry or even hinted it was Christian practice.

''But the way of darkness is crooked, and full of cursing; for it is the way of eternal death with punishment, in which way are the things that destroy the soul, viz, idolatry, over-confidence the arrogance of power. . .''

The epistle of Barnabas, chapter 20.

Truth

However, the reality that is objective stays the same regardless of what we think of it.
Does it really. It seems to me what was fact 100 years ago can be fiction today. Look at physics. The fact was reality was made up to tiny bits of matter like billiard ball schema. Now its probabilitic.

The earth was flat and now its a sphere. There was a real substance call luminiferous aether, a proposed substance that allowed light to travel through empty space. Now this is not a fact.

The universe began with a BB which gradually evolved stars and galaxies as a fact under the standard model. Now thats being questions by the JWT. Who knows how our facts about reality will change in the future. There may be a complete paradigm shift which completely undermines the current models.

John Wheeler (Participatory Anthropic Principle) proposed that the universe was waking up to itself with conscious beings. That what we thought were facts long ago are then re conceptualised by the questions we pose of reality. That it is actually the conscious being who is creating that reality by the questions and choices made in measuring reality.

Wigner thought that there was no single objective reality and reality was subjective.

A quantum experiment suggests there’s no such thing as objective reality

Trump: “I want to try and get to heaven, if possible,”

An alternative hypothesis: Trump's politics skills (such as they are) don't exist in a vacuum: context is everything. The American electorate, worn down by decades of neoliberal technical managerialism, lost faith in major social institutions after the 2008 financial crisis, which made them vulnerable to demagogues.
Not even that complex. The American electorate got tired of lip service and no change. That was essentially what I heard from a Trump supporter in 2016. It was "We've tried everything else."

Gavin Newsom's X feed is awesome

It doesn't make any sense as far as I can decipher.
It's really not that complicated.

Some right wing people play the internet game in two ways. The first way is to pick something that is minor and then get really mad about it. For example, over here in germany, there is currently a major ring-wing Brouhaha about "woke cheese", because the new packaging of a relatively popular cheese product features people of diverse color, age and sex. The more minor the thing they get mad about and the bigger the offense they take, the bigger the win.

Behold the horror:

schweinchenrosa-karottenorange.jpg

At the same time, the internet game is played by engaging in relentless goading and trolling of the left, with the goal of "triggering" and "owning the libs". Any rise they get out of their opposition is a win for the people playing the internet game. If they don't get a rise out of them, they just reintrepret some statement of disagreement into a full-blown tantrum or take a single video frame out of context and turn it into a meme of left-wing weakness, like this popular image of a very reasonable and polite woman having a public discussion and making the deadly mistake of forming her facial muscles into this shape for a fraction of a second, henceforth and foreever more branding her as the "triggered feminist meme".

Now, please come up with a better comeback.
