  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Drone sightings reported over New Jersey, now FBI involved. Here's what we know so far

Biden could have just told the American people the truth from the start.
At the start, it was people posting random photos to social media.

Investigation first, conclusion second.

It was a week from your OP to the government saying they were unaware of any risk to the public.

(Of course, the conspiracy-minded doubted that.)

((And irresponsible elected Republicans were talking about "Iranian motherships".))

And a week and two days until:

The White House said Thursday that a review of the reported sightings shows that many of them are actually manned aircraft being flown lawfully. White House National Security spokesman John Kirby said there were no reported sightings in any restricted airspace. He said the U.S. Coast Guard has not uncovered any foreign involvement from coastal vessels.
“We have no evidence at this time that the reported drone sightings pose a national security or a public safety threat, or have a foreign nexus,” Kirby said, echoing statements from the Pentagon and New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy.
There it is, the Trump-approved answer on page 3 of this thread.

And Servant of All

“And he sat down and called the twelve. And he said to them, ‘If anyone would be first, he must be last of all and servant of all.’” (Mark 9:35 ESV)

What does that look like? It looks like Jesus Christ, for one, and the kind of life that he lived when he lived on this earth. He lived an unselfish life committed to ministering to the needs of others, even at the cost of being hated, rejected, persecuted, and then murdered by the people who did not like him and who wanted him removed from their sight. He did the will of God, and he shared with the people the truth which could save their souls from hell, even at the cost of being mistreated and misunderstood.

It means that we put the true needs of others above ourselves and above how they might treat us, in return. We don’t do what we do for the praise of humans and to get “likes,” but we do what we do to honor and to glorify the Lord and to show love and compassion and caring for the people of the world, and for our fellow Christians. Our lives are committed to serving the Lord and to doing his will, even if it means being hated, persecuted, cast aside as unwanted, rejected, and killed for the sake of the gospel.

And that is because it isn’t about us. It isn’t about our needs being met. It isn’t about if people will like us, or not, or if they will think that we are great, or not. It isn’t about human approval at all. It is about doing what is right and what is needed and what is necessary to meet the true needs of people and to obey the Lord and to do his will. It is about self-sacrifice and not selfish indulgence in worldly pleasures. It is thinking about the true needs of others above our own needs because we love the people of this world.

This is how we are to live our lives as followers of Jesus Christ in doing the will of God and in showing love both to God (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) and to our fellow humans. And it makes no compromises with the world or with the flesh in order that the world might like us and not think us to be odd (strange). This kind of unselfish love sticks our necks out on the line time and time again in order to show love and compassion to the people of this world, even if we are kicked to the curb and treated like dirt, in return.

“And he took a child and put him in the midst of them, and taking him in his arms, he said to them, ‘Whoever receives one such child in my name receives me, and whoever receives me, receives not me but him who sent me.’” (Mark 9:36-37 ESV)

And this isn’t just about receiving physical children, but this includes receiving the children of God who are followers of Jesus Christ. And this is about humility and love and compassion and caring for one another’s needs, and ministering God’s love and grace, even if our own needs are not being met. This is about showing love to our fellow Christians, even ones we disagree with. And showing biblical love to others includes speaking the truth in love to one another for their benefit, for their good, because we love them, and because we care more about them than how they treat us.

How we treat other people is how we treat Jesus Christ. And being honest with other people is how we are to treat Christ, for we are to be honest with God, too, although he knows when we aren’t being honest. But being honest has to be coupled with love and compassion, and it needs to be based on truth and righteousness, and it should not be expressions of bitterness and resentment and all that comes from selfish motives and which is intended to hurt other people. For we are to speak the truth in love to one another.

Basically, what this is talking about is loving people with the love of Jesus. He is our model, our example for how we are to love one another. And he told people the truth about themselves and about himself and what he requires of us in the way of thought and deed and obedience. And he ministered to their true needs in a manner in which was good for them and not to do them harm, and not to pacify them in their sins, and not to lie to them just so they will feel good about him. So love as Jesus loves us.

Oh, to Be Like Thee, Blessed Redeemer

Lyrics by Thomas O. Chisholm, 1897
Music by W. J. Kirkpatrick, 1897

Oh, to be like Thee! blessèd Redeemer,
This is my constant longing and prayer;
Gladly I’ll forfeit all of earth’s treasures,
Jesus, Thy perfect likeness to wear.

Oh, to be like Thee! full of compassion,
Loving, forgiving, tender and kind,
Helping the helpless, cheering the fainting,
Seeking the wandering sinner to find.

O to be like Thee! lowly in spirit,
Holy and harmless, patient and brave;
Meekly enduring cruel reproaches,
Willing to suffer others to save.

O to be like Thee! while I am pleading,
Pour out Thy Spirit, fill with Thy love;
Make me a temple meet for Thy dwelling,
Fit me for life and Heaven above.

Oh, to be like Thee! Oh, to be like Thee,
Blessèd Redeemer, pure as Thou art;
Come in Thy sweetness, come in Thy fullness;
Stamp Thine own image deep on my heart.

3 pro-life policies implemented by Trump in first week of his second term

As a pro-life supporter, I hope these measures reduce abortions and save lives. Rejoining the Geneva Consensus Declaration or limiting enforcement of the FACE Act might signal US support for life. However, reinstating the Mexico City Policy and enforcing the Hyde Amendment could cause harm and lead to more lost lives, as seen during President W. Bush's tenure. Politics often prioritize appearances over reality.

Justification by Faith !

The Faith of Jesus Christ !

What is the Faith of Jesus Christ ? For example:

Rom 3:22

Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:

Gal 2:16

Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

Gal 3:22

But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.

Contrary to what many believe and teach, the genitive phrase Faith of Jesus Christ is not speaking of the believers Faith, but of Christs Faith/Faithfulness. The word Faith in all three of these scriptures are genitive nouns meaning its Christs own Faith/Faithfulness in view. To be Justified by the Faith of Christ is simply being Justified by His Faithfulness or Obedience. Rom 5:19 points to that, its being made righteous by the obedience of one, that one being Christ.

Same thing in Phil 3:9

And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:

Gods Elect are made, declared legally righteous or Justified by Christs Faithful Obedience to fulfill all conditions needed before Gods Law and Justice in their behalf.

who shall suffer justice -- destruction age-during -- from the face of the Lord, and from the glory of his strength...

Peace in Christ.

The life of Jesus is supposed to shine in our mortal bodies….the term “Son of man” speaks of this.

His manifest life in our mortal flesh (the “Son of man”) is supposed to shine towards the rest of humanity who sits in darkness so that they can see the light of Christ and the glory of God. The Son of man comes with great power and glory.

He gives His flesh for the life of the world who will then see His glory reflected by our mortal flesh in this dark world. The life of Jesus is supposed to be made manifest (shine) in our mortal bodies (the revealed Son of man) to the outside world.

But the “Son of man” is currently being betrayed/surrendered/yielded up by the hands of sinners who preach their church handwritings of ordinances…..their doctrines and commandments of men that prevent His life from being made manifest in this earth.

The Son of man “goes”….that is, withdraws…sinking out of sight…from this earth.

The life of Jesus is not being made manifest in the mortal flesh of anyone who is being deceived by false prophets who are preaching in the man-based churches.

Mat 26:24 KJV
(24) The Son of man goeth as it is written of him: but woe unto that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! it had been good for that man if he had not been born.

The manifest life of Jesus is currently being cut off out of the land of the living. Who shall declare His generation? He is being stricken for the transgression of His people. They are forgiven for they know not what they do.

Isa 53:7-8 KJV
(7) He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.

(8) He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken.

He makes His grave with the wicked and with the rich in His DEATHS (plural) as no mortal flesh is being saved in the earthly-minded churches of men (the wicked and the rich shepherds). We attend their churches where His life is not being made manifest in the flesh of anyone. No flesh is being saved in them.

Isa 53:9
(9) And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death (DEATHS); because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth.

They …the wicked and the rich….rejoice in this “day of slaughter” as they condemn and kill the Just One….the Prince of life…by preventing His life from being made manifest in the mortal flesh of those they are deceiving.

Jas 5:5-6 KJV
(5) Ye have lived in pleasure on the earth, and been wanton; ye have nourished your hearts, as in a day of slaughter.

(6) Ye have condemned and killed the just; and he doth not resist you.

We must awake from our “sleep” and “arise” and go forth from them….from the man-based churches. They are preventing the life of Jesus from being made manifest…..the Son of man is being betrayed into the hands of sinners.

“Rise…let us be going…”

Mat 26:45-46 KJV
(45) Then cometh he to his disciples, and saith unto them, Sleep on now, and take your rest: behold, the hour is at hand, and the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.

(46) Rise, let us be going: behold, he is at hand that doth betray me.

The man-based churches will not believe in what they hear the Spirit of Truth saying. Those who will stay in them will be punished with age-lasting destruction for their unbelief at the hearing of the Truth.

They will not participate in His glory. They will not receive His glory light that will shine towards the outside world. They will be shut out of it because of their unbelief. They will perish and have no inheritance of it for the duration of this age (age-lasting destruction).

We are to be the “open face”….the public face…of our Lord that reflects His glory light to those who are on the outside deep darkness. They will miss out on it.

2nd Thessalonians 1:9
Young's Literal Translation

who shall suffer justice -- destruction age-during -- from the face of the Lord, and from the glory of his strength,

But we who believe are to “depart” and go from the man-based churches. We are to no longer be attached to them. We are to take nothing from them when we leave. We are to leave it all behind. This is our “sanctification’…our purification. This is the “holy commandment” that is delivered to us to keep. We must not turn away from it. This is the Way of righteousness that leads to His manifest life.

Isa 52:10-11 KJV
(10) The LORD hath made bare his holy arm in the eyes of all the nations; and all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of our God.

(11) Depart ye, depart ye, go ye out from thence, touch no unclean thing; go ye out of the midst of her; be ye clean, that bear the vessels of the LORD.

We show them that we love the Father when we do His commandment to “arise” and go from their “churches”. We then become His sons and daughters.

Joh 14:31 KJV
(31) But that the world may know that I love the Father; and as the Father gave me commandment, even so I do. Arise, let us go hence.

We must “arise” from those who are “dead” in trespasses and sins in the churches of men so that we can SHINE and the glory of the LORD rises upon us so that this dark world can see His glory light upon us.

Isa 60:1-3 KJV
(1) Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee.
(2) For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the LORD shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee.

(3) And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising.

But when we depart, they…the man-based churches… will persecute us for doing so. But their persecution is nothing compared for the AGE-LASTING weight of glory that awaits you for doing so. In this dark world is the place we are to SHINE. This is not about "dying and going to heaven". This is about the here-and-now. We are to shine here in this earth.

2Co 4:17

(17) For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal (AGE-LASTING) weight of glory;

We are to “run with patience” the race that is now set before us. We are to endure their persecutions (not rendering evil for their evil) for the joy set before us. Jesus is the Way that we are to follow.

Heb 12:1-2 KJV
(1) Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

(2) Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Dream of the Palestinians returning to North Gaza

I actually had this dream many years ago. Long before the conflict took place.

It's just like the scene on the news. A huge number of people crossing a road next to the sea.

The difference in my dream are the presence of huge waves in the sea and the scores of people who are sea who seem to be enjoying the dangerously massive waves.

The huge waves really scared me because it feels like it pulling me to it.

The scores of people in the sea might be the people who are killed in the conflict. The huge waves might be danger or looming threat that awaits the returning Palestinians.

I had these dreams more than once. One time I got pulled into the water but I found refuge in a rock that is in the water. When I got to the rock, the huge waves are gone.

State department enacts one flag policies

The focus is flags flown outside foreign embassy's - as far as I know there are no US foreign embassy's in any state.
Yes, you're right. I was just thinking of any government building. I have no objection to this new trinity flag policy.

The Apocalypse falls on Los Angeles

Were the old Chicago fires truly "Apocalypse"? If not, why these? Is the Apocalypse 'a little here, a little there', or a worldwide phenomenon? The sensational nature of these reports/theses is telling, I think. It is not maturity that runs after whatever is controversial, loud and flashy.

Sensationalism makes money, and though the truth can be sensational, sensationalism is never the truth.
Those fires in Chicago were a few days but here was one of weeks and they could not quench them, only the rain was finally able to shut them down.

The results from Ozempic and GLP-1 drugs.

Well, everyone now knows of the incredible weight loss effect of these GLP-1 drugs, but some of the other results on addictions and the mind are surprising.

"A study by the Department of Veterans Affairs on the relationship between GLP-1 weight-loss drugs and 175 diseases and conditions supports a lot of what scientists already suspected about potential benefits, but contains a few surprises, too.

The findings, published Monday in the journal Nature Medicine and based on an analysis of medical records from about 2.5 million patients in the VA system, support the idea that the medications might be able to help patients with Alzheimer’s disease and who are suffering from substance abuse involving alcohol, cannabis and narcotics. The “discovery” analysis of the drugs involves delving into data to look for connections and is not meant to establish causal relationships, but instead to generate hypotheses.

The research is the first to attempt to comprehensively investigate the effects — both good and bad — of the drugs on the human body. It arrives at a time when anecdotal reports and small studies attesting to new effects of drugs sold under brand names such as Mounjaro, Ozempic, Wegovy and Zepbound emerge regularly...

The research compared diabetes patients on Ozempic and other GLP-1 drugs with people taking older treatments. The study also included subjects known as controls who did not have diabetes.

David Cummings, professor of medicine in the Division of Metabolism, Endocrinology and Nutrition at the University of Washington, said he likes to think of database dives such as this as fishing expeditions. Cast a wide net, and you’ll probably get some statistical blips that end up having no meaning even as you get some telling hits.

“The surprising ones are cool because that gives you a new avenue to pursue,” he said.

Among the expected results: GLP-1 was associated with a lower risk of cardiovascular, kidney and liver issues. On the negative side, it was linked to gastrointestinal issues such as reflux, headaches and pancreatitis.

Some unexpected findings include a suggestion that the drugs could help with blood clotting, respiration and infection.

“Those are very new, and I’d like to see more research there,” said Fatima Cody Stanford, an obesity medicine physician at Massachusetts General Hospital and an associate professor at Harvard Medical School.

The data also appeared to support recent studies that found that suicidal thoughts were reduced by GLP-1 drugs rather than increased, as feared early on. Volkow said the signals suggesting a reduction in suicidality should be followed up, and wondered whether it might indicate that GLP-1 drugs dampen people’s stress responses, a finding in animal models.

The National Institutes of Health had been studying the impact of GLP-1 drugs on substance abuse even before the arrival of Ozempic, and Volkow said some clinicians have been prescribing them off-label already.

“The evidence is suggestive absolutely, but it’s not at the standard to very clearly say, ‘Let’s recommend this for a treatment,’” Volkow said.

Some scientists were puzzled by an increased signal of arthritis among patients taking the drugs. Cummings called that “very strange” because weight loss should ease arthritis symptoms.

Stanford cautioned that the study should be viewed within the context of the VA population, which tends to be older, less diverse and more male than the U.S. population as a whole. Because of their age, she said, the patients studied are likely to have multiple health conditions and be on multiple medications, which may have affected results.

The overarching takeaway for Cummings is that there were no new red flags in the data that should make people worry about GLP-1 drugs. To the contrary, he said, “every medicine has its pluses and minuses, and these are no exception. But in this case, the pluses greatly outweigh the negative.”

In Fellowship - Thank You

"A standing committee of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) has expressed its support for Episcopal Church Bishop Mariann Budde, who rebuked President Donald Trump in a sermon last Wednesday " - link to Christian Post Article here.

Just a foreign Anglican appreciating the fact that another Christian group somewhere can understand the basis of what Bishop Budde said, and happy that they have said so out loud. Thank you.

What is our state of being after we die?

This is not a parable, it’s a realistic story showing consciousness after death and what happened to the Old Testamebt saints before Jesus died and ride again abd what happens to the lost. Jesus story would be very confusing if he tells that the souls are conscious avd have some kind of body and can see and speak etc if they were not conscious avd did not have a body etc.

All attempt to twist this section into a parable and make it meaningless or to try and say exactly the opposite of what this’ story shows are erroneous abd all that is needed really is this one section of scripture but there are many more scriptures as well.

Luke 16: 19. There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day: 20. And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores, 21. And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores. 22. And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; 23. And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. 24. And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. 25. But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented. 26. And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence. 27. Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father's house: 28. For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment. 29. Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them. 30. And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent. 31. And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.”

Even if some say this was not an actual story, it is very realistic. But it is definitely not showing a erroneous doctrine of “soul sleep”, or soul zip”.

Definitely.

Themes used in Games and other media, being used to control thoughts and behaviours.

Hey everyone, recently i've been trying to Evangelise to people about the hidden manipulation used in the media and make people aware of the impact Video Games and other media can have on someones beliefs and behaviours. I'm not sure if anyone would be interested but i have created a deep-dive on the different themes used to distort the message of God and trap people in a worldly cycle, if you're interested at all i've linked below! hopefully you can learn something new or valuable. any feedback is appreciated!
The Hidden Battle For Your Mind (How Games Shape Your Beliefs)

"Give to all who ask of you" - how to be wise about this?

Scripture says, "Give to all who ask of you" (Luke 6:30.)

Is there a situation in which we can legitimately refuse to give to someone who asks - for instance, someone who does not appear to be trustworthy? Doesn't this verse seem to imply that we can't say no? Wouldn't it be a really foolish financial approach to simply give to anyone who asks, no questions asked?
If you want back what you give.. any equipment for yard-work, or auto-tools for car maintenance, etc.. in that case you are lending it for a short time. So pray that God will work on the person to return it.
But if you think that they are not trustworthy, then give what they ask, and pray that God will give you another one. In both cases it lines up with scripture to ask God for what you need.

Don't rely on the person to do what's right, don't be upset but forgive them, and rely upon God to do what is right, if you do what is right.

Republicans introduce bill to protect parents’ rights

I hope the liberal women keep their promises to not have sex because Trump got elected. We don't need them aborting babies, but if they want to remove themselves from the whole process that would be amazing. I'm not much for the sterilization trans nonsense, but hey they keep reminding us they're adults so... I guess there's the bright side of no offspring.
The less abortion there is, the better it is for our nation!

I can never wrap my mind around the pro-abortion NONSENSE.

As I said before, not ready to be a parent? Not married? Don't have sex!

Mel Gibson criticises Pope Francis over slide toward religious pluralism

The boomer allergy to Latin is comical to me.

Every prayer wrought in the vernacular is another year in purgatory wearing sandpaper underwear.
What?

Every prayer that is sincere is a good prayer.

I don't understand!

It won't be a "year in purgatory" because the prayer is said in the language of the people (vernacular).

What about "mental prayer" which is essentially talking to God in your own words? Should that be in Latin?

I'm not sure I follow you, brother? ???

Respectfully,

US consulate warns of gun battles, IEDs, kidnappings in Mexican border towns near Texas

American officials in Mexico have issued the highest-level travel warning amid increased gun battles, kidnappings and IEDs in a town that sits on the Texas border. The State Department has put the state of Tamaulipas, Mexico, which sits across the border from McAllen, Texas, under a "Level 4: Do not travel" advisory.

"As a precaution, U.S. government employees have been ordered to avoid all travel in and around Reynosa and Rio Bravo outside of daylight hours and to avoid dirt roads throughout Tamaulipas," the consulate wrote in a statement.

Authorities are urging Americans to avoid dirt roads, not to touch unknown objects near or on roads and to plan travel during daylight hours. Additionally, Americans are advised to notify family and friends of their whereabouts "for your safety."

Yes, there’s been a “do not travel” advisory for Tamaulipas since at least September 6, 2024.
Nice of Fox News to remind us of this.
