In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. What happened to 20,000,000 voters?

Kamala Harris wins. AP race call at 10 p.m. on Nov. 5, 2024. That was 5 days ago
I'm not sure what your point is. You can call a race well before the vote counting is complete if one candidate if ahead enough that it's virtually impossible they could lose that win with the remaining numbers to count. Right now, Trump theoretically could still win California if he gets about 68% of the vote that hasn't been counted. That's obviously not going to happen, so even without being done counting, it can be called for Harris. They were able to call all the states for Trump or Harris by now because there's enough votes counted in those states to do it, but the vote counting is still incomplete in quite a few.

The fact remains that there are millions of votes left to be counted and thus trying to compare total votes this election with last election is pointless.

Also, I've noticed you've given no response to the fact your in your topic title and opening post are wrong; your topic title is "What happened to 20,000,000 voters?" and you claimed "There a difference of over 20,000,000 Democratic Voters between Biden and Harris elections" despite the fact that, as I and others pointed out, that's simply false, even with the still-incomplete numbers we have. You've not acknowledged this error at all. It would be appreciated if you were to at least edit your original post to acknowledge this fact in order to avoid misleading people.

Why did the disciples doubt Jesus could feed the multitude the 2nd time?

Matthew 12:

1 At that time Jesus went through the grainfields on the Sabbath. His disciples were hungry and began to pick the heads of grain and eat them.
On this occasion, Jesus did not multiply food to feed his disciples (Mark 2:23)

Sometime later, Jesus fed the 5000 in John 6:

5Lifting up his eyes, then, and seeing that a large crowd was coming toward him, Jesus said to Philip, “Where are we to buy bread, so that these people may eat?” 6He said this to test him, for he himself knew what he would do. 7Philip answered him, “Two hundred denarii worth of bread would not be enough for each of them to get a little.”
200 denarii were half a year of wagers for a laborer. Philip reacted with puzzlement. He didn't know what to do.

8One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, said to him, 9“There is a boy here who has five barley loaves and two fish, but what are they for so many?”
Jesus proceeded to multiply food based on this meager amount. It was a miracle (Mark 6:43).

Sometime later, a similar situation arose in Mark 8:

1In those days, when again a great crowd had gathered, and they had nothing to eat, he called his disciples to him and said to them, 2“I have compassion on the crowd, because they have been with me now three days and have nothing to eat. 3And if I send them away hungry to their homes, they will faint on the way. And some of them have come from far away.” 4And his disciples answered him, “How can one feed these people with bread here in this desolate place?”
Did the disciples react by doubting Jesus could do it again?

I don't think so. They reacted with a question, not a statement. They didn't know what Jesus was going to do and they did not want to presume. The disciples learned to defer to Jesus's judgment.

Sure enough, Jesus proceeded to multiply the loaves and fish for the 2nd time.

State abortion initiatives (per AP)

I see where you are going. We make judgments or decisions every day, and why avoid these types? I know many people who have at least one of these traits and can say I've done a few of these in my lifetime. Should I get on my soapbox and proclaim to the world that they are unloving or gossiping... and that it is wrong with God? Let's ban all these and create laws banning these actions. How can I judge there actions and then criticize them when I know myself not to be perfect? It is hypocritical. I won't cast the first stone. Also, there is no ranking system for sin I believe the bible treats all sins equally except the one of grieving the holy spirit that's why we need Jesus. In your mind, abortion is worse than stealing but to God all sins are equal.

We are supposed to go out and preach the gospel of the Lord Jesus and yet modern-day Christians preach sin and I get the sense that Christian feels they have moral authority to talk against other's sinful actions. When I was working I remember all the gossip about non-Christian coworker's bad habits and looking back we Christians were just trying to make ourselves feel good while we were shoplifting pens or a can of WD 40 here and there, a couple of screws that I needed at home...

And if any of these are in your congregation scripture has some rules. I do believe that the killing of babies is wrong I believe some of these girls know it too but it is not my business and yours why someone does what they do. Some of you lifelong Christians may have forgotten but God loved us in our sins (drug addict & alcoholic) and will wait patiently for us and I believe my daughter will be forgiven also.

I will end this because we are all set in our beliefs thus the tribal warfare. A house divided will not stand and who are the ones that are supposed to humble themselves and be peacemakers? The rights extremist laws banning abortion nationwide are no different than the Muslim religion that we attack.
Okay.

Diocese reverses hymn ban in favor of ‘synodal’ selection of sacred music

I wouldn't play an organ, either! I used to be very opposed to guitar at Mass, but I've moderated my stance somewhat. Still not a fan, mind you, but given that it's my parents' parish and the other points in its favor, I'm not going to say it's a bad parish simply because their music isn't to my taste. I think it's done well for what it is.
When I was growing up in a small town in a small parish, I didn't have much choice. The music lady almost always played her guitar. I have no idea if she still goes to Mass or not or still plays music there.

I personally loved the Organ, and it was often played during the Vespers (Divine Office) at the monastery that was attached to my college. :)

Help me to understand this biblical (seeming) contradiction.

I understand putting Jesus first always, even to the point of going against your parents wishes. (Like Mother Angelica did by running away to become a nun.) But, where do you draw the line between "honoring" your parents and following Christ? At what point do you turn away from your parents and devote yourself wholly to Jesus?
If I had agreed with my parents (particularly my mom) I would of turned away from my conservative values--including being anti-abortion, against the lbqtq extreme agendas, believing in Jesus as Lord and Savior etc.
Maybe when Christ said the passages I mentioned in Matthew, He was opening a new way to think about who you devote your life to--Jesus over everyone.
The typical Catholic answer to this is to obey your parents unless they command you to commit sin. As Riley said, Jesus comes first--trusting in Him will give you the discernment to apply the principle I mention to more delicate situations.

Is Stoic Philosophy compatible with Christianity in your opinion ?

I would appreciate it if all of the unsaved pursued Stoicism. They desire to obtain virtue. Without the Holy Spirit to help the overcome the flesh, they have a difficult path. However, for Christians Stoicism tends to be of the flesh and can actually frustrate becoming the better person that is possible by the work of the Holy Spirit.

Gal 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
Gal 5:23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

Hundreds of national security officials, ex-Cabinet members, Gold Star families endorse Trump

The endorsement was signed by several prominent officials from the Trump administration, including former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo ... former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations and former 2024 Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley, and many more.

They have won a no-prize.

Harvard students get time off due to trauma from Trump victory

Except he's going to be a facist dictator now and the Supreme Court has ruled he's immune to any actions. He could go down himself and start killing college kids and he'll be fine. I mean he did say he could shoot someone in tge street and we'd all support him for it.

I do expect he'll start rounding up trans people and put them in concentration camps with Rachel Madow.
But he’s giving amnesty to Rosie O’Donnell and she won’t be in a camp because he no longer considers her a threat

Orthodox Jews Rally for Trump, as Obama Claims Trump Is Antisemitic

He did have a travel ban from Muslim countries.
He courts the Proud Boys and white militia groups.
I am not sure about Holocaust denial.

Trump wants to give his friend Netanyahu the go-ahead to launch his own Holocaust.
While Biden tries to repress Netanyahu's evil instincts, Trump would cheer him on.
Only from hostile Islamic countries, not Muslims in general.

Be Strong - Garment of Praise (A Cappella)

Login to view embedded media
1) Convictions are silenced, Truth is obscured,
In a sense, trampled, the line has been blurred;
Conscience is crumbled as morals decay,
All we have left are a few shades of gray.
But there are still those who will not be dismayed,
A remnant of God-fearing men;
And we pledge to not be ashamed or afraid,
Stand up to show that we still can:

Chorus:
Be strong in the faith, Be strong in the fight,
Be strong on the line between wrong and what's right;
Be strong in the power, Be strong in the Lord,
Be more courageous than ever before;
Faithful, determined, standfast and true,
Willing to sacrifice everything to be strong.

2) Champions of honor, Heros of faith,
Warriors of valor, empowered by grace;
Cold to temptation, callous to pain,
And even through hard times, our vows will remain.
Men who went tested refused to deny
The Gospel we firmly believed;
Rather it means that we live or we die,
Be certain that we'll always be: (Chorus)

Spoken:

In a time where concessions were applauded, Compromises glorified,
It's time to be strong;
On principles that are proven, On standards that stand,
On values that have value, And on truths that are timeless.
It is time to stand up and stand out.
We do not need more superstars or celebrities,
We need men to be heroes of honor, examples of character,
Role models of integrity, and inspirations of Godliness.
It's time to be strong!
We have the power if we only receive it,
We have the call if we will answer,
We have the duty if we will obey.
So take courage friend,
There is nothing to fear, nothing to dread, and nothing to regret,
For God Almighty is on our side.
We are more than conquerors if only we choose to be strong!
Love to hear this! Good lyrics and performed well. And great work too putting the video together and recording it.

Let's keep track

Tr

Trump is a populist. I intend to track only objective facts all can agree on..
If, by "populist" you mean this:

"The true populist leader claims to represent the unified "will of the people". He stands in opposition to an enemy, often embodied by the current system - aiming to "drain the swamp" or tackle the "liberal elite"." (What is populism, and what does the term actually mean?)

Isn't that what the government is supposed to be? I mean, in all seriousness, it's supposed to be by the people and for the people.

IMO, in the past decades, the governments of many of the G7 countries have slowly been hijacked by the mega elite who contribute to political parties and then pressure them to do their bidding. The "people", the "Joe Blow's" of this world, were the ones electing leaders of their municipalities, states, provinces and countries, only to have these elected people of power Kowtow to the wealthy establishment who funded them.

That's when the corruption starts.

How many Presidents, and others in elected offices, have become mega millionaires while in office, on a salary that would not logically produce this kind of wealth?

It's no wonder that a presidential candidate, that promises the people to hear their voice and make their lives more like their parents and grand parents... would win.

It's no wonder that a presidential candidate, that comes in with their own money and funding, who cannot be controlled by the mega elite, would get all kinds of bad press and opposition from those under such control.

The ultra wealthy do not like it when they cannot control the government. They have agendas and plans in place to perpetuate their generation of power and wealth.

This is why many of the republican party were so against DJT. They were owned by their supporters.

This election is a historical event. DJT beat the system, the mega elite, the corrupt overseers of the election process. It's like winning a world series when the umpires are against you and the strike zone for your pitcher was the size of a golf ball, while the opposing team threw only strikes.

It is apparently clear that God's hand was in this. DJT is back in the office that God wanted him to be in, in the time line that God wanted.

My favorite writers on the practice of Mental Prayer/Unceasing Prayer

I shall, God willing, take up and read. That is a start is it not? A reply that offers both original post and this poster something to be thankful for.
If I can add to the list, Sr. Marie-Aimee de Jesus wrote a book titled The Twelve Degrees of Silence which is something I'd like to get my hands on. The second chapter of The Systematic Sayings of the Desert Fathers devotes itself entirely to the topic of hesychia, silence, that the believer experiences while praying and attending liturgy. This chapter in particular is my favorite.

REACH AND TEACH DEVOTIONS

Introduction;

I am stepping out in faith, am going to write a series of devotions on the book of Ephesians. I hope you will follow along, as we go through this great book.

1 Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God

WHAT A CALLING

Why are we Christians at all?
Why are we in the place we are?
Why for example, am I in China?

We are Christians, because God has chosen and called us, he has called us to serve him and to be his children.

The reason is his will.

Paul was a Pharisee, he was an educated man, who didn't ever imagine, he would be a preacher of the gospel.

But he became an apostle, by the WILL OF GOD.

We are, what we are, because of the will of God.

Praise God that he has set you apart and placed you in a unique place.

To be called a child of God and called into his service, is the highest privilege in the world.

Let's never complain of who we are and where we are, because it is by the will of God.

Thanks

KK

1 To the saints who are in Ephesus, and are faithful in Christ Jesus

SET APART ONE

In the first devotion, we saw that we are, what we are, because of the will of God.

So, what are we:

We are saints, literally, set apart ones. God has set us apart for himself, he has personally chosen us. That is so amazing.

They are in Ephesus, of all the places to start a church, this must have been one of the most difficult, full of idol worship, black magic and the like, but in that place, God set apart some to be saints, as he does in every place.

Despite persecution, which you can read about in the book of Acts, this little group of saints are faithful, that is what we are called to do, wherever we are.. amen.

These believers are grounded in Christ Jesus, they are not faithful to a creed or a theory, they are faithful to a person, CHRIST JESUS.

Why can we be faithful to HIM? Because he is always faithful to us.

It is all about a relationship, a relationship based on HIM, although we are sometimes unfaithful, he never is.

Glory in the fact, that you are his set apart one and that you are and always will be:

HIS SET APART ONE

Thanks

God bless you
