We're Not to Be Divided

“I appeal to you, brothers, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be united in the same mind and the same judgment. For it has been reported to me by Chloe's people that there is quarreling among you, my brothers. What I mean is that each one of you says, ‘I follow Paul,’ or ‘I follow Apollos,’ or ‘I follow Cephas,’ or ‘I follow Christ.’
“Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Or were you baptized in the name of Paul? I thank God that I baptized none of you except Crispus and Gaius, so that no one may say that you were baptized in my name. (I did baptize also the household of Stephanas. Beyond that, I do not know whether I baptized anyone else.) For Christ did not send me to baptize but to preach the gospel, and not with words of eloquent wisdom, lest the cross of Christ be emptied of its power.” (1 Corinthians 1:10-17 ESV)

Questions:

• What similar divisions does the church have today?
• What is the relationship between baptism and the gospel?
• Can you be saved from your sins and not be baptized?
• What is the message of the gospel of our salvation?
• What is the power of the cross of Christ?

Whenever I read this passage of Scripture, what immediately comes to mind in relationship to the church today is, “I am Baptist,” or “I am Methodist,” or “I am Presbyterian,” or “I am Pentecostal,” or “I am Lutheran,” or “I am Episcopalian,” etc. This is not how it should be! The biblical church, the body of Christ, is not to be divided by church denominations. For we are all supposed to be of one heart and mind, which is the heart and mind of Jesus Christ and of the teachings of Christ and of his NT apostles.

And, if truth be told, a lot of these divisions are based on human interpretations of the Scriptures, sometimes based on personal prejudices, and much because Scriptures are being taught out of context to say what they don’t say if they are taught in their appropriate context. A lot of this has to do with what has been passed down from generation to generation, and so many people just accept what they are taught without question and without examination to see if what they were taught is actually the truth.

And I believe these divisions can be eliminated if we who believe in Jesus Christ would just read the Scriptures in context, word by word and chapter by chapter and book by book, as a whole, under the guidance and direction of the Holy Spirit, without personal prejudice, and while putting aside all that we have been previously taught and believed so that we can just hear from the Lord what he wants to show us. When the Lord took me through this process, I saw so many things I was taught wrong and had to relearn.

Now, in Paul’s attempt to convince the Corinthian Christians that they were not to be followers of man, but of God, he made some very profound and interesting statements that I believe we need to examine biblically. Paul, although he was called of God to preach the message of the gospel of our salvation, baptized very few people. For, he said, “Christ did not send me to baptize but to preach the gospel, and not with words of eloquent wisdom, lest the cross of Christ be emptied of its power.” So what does that say?

Now I will defer here to a writing from a month ago titled, “One Lord, One Faith, One Baptism,” because I believe it will help answer this question.

Now, regarding this ONE BAPTISM, I am finding that there are varied opinions on this subject, and that most seem to favor water baptism as the one baptism, but there is a problem with that theory. For many people are baptized with water in the name of Jesus Christ who have never been reborn of the Spirit of God and who do not know God because they do not obey him, but they have continued in their sins. They are just going through a religious ritual. And then there are the cases when people were saved and filled with the Spirit prior to water baptism (Acts 10:44-48).

And then we have John the Baptist’s words when he stated: “As for me, I baptize you with water for repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, and I am not fit to remove His sandals; He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. His winnowing fork is in His hand, and He will thoroughly clear His threshing floor; and He will gather His wheat into the barn, but He will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.” (Matthew 10:11-12) So, the indication here is that the baptism that we receive from Christ is not of water, but of the Spirit, in death to sin and living to righteousness.

“Or do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus have been baptized into His death? Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life. For if we have become united with Him in the likeness of His death, certainly we shall also be in the likeness of His resurrection, knowing this, that our old self was crucified with Him, in order that our body of sin might be done away with, so that we would no longer be slaves to sin; for he who has died is freed from sin.” (Romans 6:3-7).

So, this is a spiritual baptism. And this can take place apart from water baptism, as well as water baptism is no indication that this spiritual baptism has ever taken place at all. So, I believe that our water baptism is more of an outward sign of an inward faith which has already taken place, and that this baptism into death (Romans 6) is of the Spirit of God, so this is also the baptism of the Spirit, since there is only ONE BAPTISM, and the only one that can literally bring about death to sin and living to God and to his righteousness is the one done of the Spirit and not in water. See:

[Matt 3:13-17; Matt 10:11-12; John 1:29-34; Mk 10:37-39; Ac 9:15-18; Acts 10:44-48; Acts 18:7-8; Acts 22:12-16; Rom 6:1-7]

Therefore, if we understand baptism in this light, it makes sense that Paul stated that Christ did not send him to baptize but to preach the gospel of Christ and the power of the cross of Christ in our lives. For the gospel message is that Jesus died on that cross that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By faith in him we are crucified with Christ in death to sin and raised with Christ to walk in newness of life in him, no longer as slaves to sin but as slaves to righteousness.

So sin is no longer to be what we obey, for if we obey sin, it leads to death, but if obedience to our Lord is what we obey, its end is eternal life with Christ Jesus, our Lord. For Jesus said that if anyone would come after him, he must deny self, take up his cross daily (die daily to sin) and follow (obey) him. For if we hold on to (save) our old sinful lifestyles, we will lose our lives for eternity. But if for Jesus’ sake we deny self, die daily to sin, and follow him in obedience in holy living, then we have the hope of eternal life.

[Matt 7:21-23; Lu 9:23-26; John 10:27-30; Acts 26:18; Rom 2:6-8; Rom 6:1-23; Rom 8:1-14; Rom 12:1-2; 1 Co 6:9-10,19-20; 1 Co 10:1-22; 2 Co 5:10,15,21; Gal 5:16-24; Gal 6:7-8; Eph 2:8-10; Eph 4:17-32; Eph 5:3-6; Col 1:21-23; Col 3:1-17; Titus 2:11-14; 1 Jn 1:5-10; 1 Jn 2:3-6,24-25; 1 Jn 3:4-10; 1 Pet 2:24; Heb 3:1-19; Heb 4:1-13; Heb 10:23-31; Heb 12:1-2]

Oh, to be like Thee! Oh, to be like Thee,
Blessèd Redeemer, pure as Thou art;
Come in Thy sweetness, come in Thy fullness;
Stamp Thine own image deep on my heart.

Ooh, I made a post about this. I like 1 Corinthians 1:10. Also, 1 Corinthians 12:24-26 has similar words. :)

Explanation:
1 Corinthians 1:10,12-13 admonishes the Corinthian church to have unity in their beliefs and actions, and warns against divisions that can arise from following different leaders or teachers. Paul asks if Christ is divided and emphasizes that they were all baptized in the name of Christ, not in the name of a particular teacher or leader.

Verse:
1 Corinthians 12:24b-26 (NIV): "But God has put the body together, giving greater honor to the parts that lacked it, so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other. If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it."

Explanation:
1 Corinthians 12:24b-26 further emphasizes the need for unity in the body of Christ, as God has put all the parts together with equal concern for each other. If one part suffers, every part suffers, and if one part is honored, every part rejoices. This passage emphasizes the interconnectedness of all members of the body of Christ and the importance of working together and supporting one another, just as a machine has multiple parts which work in unison to perform a task.

Is Trump's Understanding of Taiwan Flawed?

If you compare China 13.6 trillion in GDP versus Taiwan's GDP of 585 billion, are Trumps comments a concern? Does he really expect Taiwan to defend itself and pay for everything? China vs Taiwan Economies: 61 Stats Compared

His comments too on Taiwan taking over the U.S. chip manufacturing sector is worrisome too. Why? Because they are better competitors. They are more efficient. The secret sauce for Taiwan's chip superstardom

This efficiency is in part is driven by FREE MARKETS, which I hope Trump favors. as shown by the bullet points. Taiwan vs. US Chip Subsidies: Bolstering the Sacred Mountain.
  • "Whereas policymakers in the US and South Korea direct government funds toward closing supply-chain weaknesses, Taiwanese policymakers allow companies to determine which technologies to lean into.
  • Whereas lawmakers in the US and EU attach tight strings to the subsidies that administrative agencies dole out, Taiwanese lawmakers write vague laws that grant enormous discretion to government ministries.
  • And whereas local governments in mainland China steer a significant share of the nation’s total semiconductor subsidies, Taiwan’s central government funds and manages the island’s most meaningful incentive programs."

So first, Trump's comments threaten the security of Taiwan and the entire region and secondly they threaten good competition. I know he is running against Biden, but he and many in the GOP need to shore up on foreign policy because this is worrisome. By saying Taiwan should pay the USA defense you have to admit that China loves to hear that. It shows a possible weakness in the USA commitment to defend Taiwan. It also implies that all of SE Asia at more risk and while he considers US defense of Taiwan an "insurance policy" the US friendly SE Asia nations help keep the USA safe as well. Does Trump for instance think the Philippines should pay for all of its defense? That is not in the treaty the USA signed, nor is it possible for such a poorer nation to defend itself. Sure the USA can be isolationist. The result though could be that most of S.E. Asia will be controlled by China, including the 3.4 trillion (out of 16 trillion) shipping that goes through the South China Sea. I know a lot of what Trump says will be tempered by some in the cabinet but there could be some real consequences for the world if the USA does not honor its commitments to both Taiwan and free markets.

Questions to be considered:
Is the USA competitive in chip manufacturing?
Does the USA have a commitment to defend Taiwan?
I heard on the BBC World Service broadcast that the Chinese are generally thrilled at the prospect of a Second term for Trump, since he talked belligerently, but “started no wars”; (though there are Iranians and Kurds who would like to have his ear to hear their complaints about his first term ).

Gee, why would Chine want a second term in office if they thought he’d be “bad for them”!

Trump’s a chump, the epitome of all of Dunnger-Kruger politicians everywhere, who thinks himself as the “great negotiator” but settles for things (to get them done), rather than for “how good the deal” really was.

Diplomacy is glacial for a reason, he’s only going to have four more years, he’d better be ready to utilize the military since it seems he forget to push those buttons the first go ‘round!

Rachel Morin's brother blames Biden's 'open borders' for his sister's murder by illegal immigrant

I guess we need to list all of the crimes committed by illegals from 2017 to 2021 and blame Trump for those.
It’s a grieving brother. I’m sure many feel the same regardless of who the president was at the time. It would be interesting to research it.

Violence from the left at RNC

I feel that protesting in America is a waste of time. It seems to never end. Or others screw the meaning up. I just ignore it. Like the the leaders in charge. Also, I don't get why a lot of these people are protesting against soothing, they know nothing about.

Colorado officials face potential legal action after forcing pro-lifer to leave Senate gallery

A free speech advocacy group has threatened to sue Colorado Capitol officials over an incident last year when they removed someone from the gallery because he was wearing a pro-life sweatshirt.

The Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression (FIRE) sent a complaint letter on Tuesday to officials over the alleged mistreatment of Jeffrey Hunt.

At issue was an incident on March 21, 2023, when Hunt was forcibly removed from the Senate gallery for wearing a Colorado Christian University shirt that read “Pro-Life U,” a nickname of the private academic institution.

The letter was addressed to Stephen Rosenthal, House Chief Sergeant-At-Arms; Frank Lombardi, Senate Chief Sergeant-At-Arms; and Benjamin Trujillo, Senate Sergeant-At-Arms.

“The Capitol Gallery Rule’s ban on ‘political’ pins and apparel violates the First Amendment,” stated the FIRE letter. “When the government seeks to silence political expression, it bears a heavy burden to justify its censorship. The Capitol Gallery Rule cannot meet that high bar.”

Scientific Foreknowledge in the Bible

Hello folks. While the Bible is not a scientific textbook, there are some verses which predate modern scientific discoveries by over 2200 years. Pretty neat, isn't it?

Date
July 17, 2024 | Scientific Foreknowledge in the Bible + God's Omniscience
Verse
Isaiah 55:8-9 (NIV): "‘For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,’ declares the Lord. ‘As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.’"

Ecclesiastes 1:6 (NIV): "The wind blows to the south and turns to the north; round and round it goes, ever returning on its course."

Job 36:27-28 (NIV): "He draws up the drops of water, which distill as rain to the streams; the clouds pour down their moisture and abundant showers fall on mankind."

Job 38:16 (NIV): "Have you journeyed to the springs of the sea or walked in the recesses of the deep?"
Explanation
These passages from the Bible are poetic and metaphorical descriptions about God's power and omniscience. The verses were written thousands of years ago before the discovery of modern scientific concepts such as atmospheric circulation, the water cycle, and hydrothermal vents. Despite being written at different times and in various contexts during the ancient era, these passages all convey a sense of wonder and awe for the intricate design and complexity of God’s creation.
  1. Isaiah 55:8-9 speaks about God's wisdom and understanding infinitely surpassing that of humans. This passage can be seen as a reminder that while we may think we have a grasp on things, there is always more to learn, which resonates with the scientific process of discovery and continuous learning.
  2. Ecclesiastes 1:6 describes the cyclical nature of life, particularly referencing wind patterns in this case. The concept of atmospheric circulation was discovered centuries later by George Hadley during the 18th century but is indeed an accurate depiction of how winds circulate around our planet. This passage can be seen as a testament to God's foreknowledge and design of the world's physical systems, including the atmosphere, long before science discovered weather patterns.
  3. Job 36:27-28 talks about the water cycle, with reference to evaporation, rainfall, and water distribution patterns. Pierre Perrault discovered the concept of the water cycle over 1800 years later in 1674, but this passage suggests an understanding that precipitation plays a crucial role in sustaining life on Earth.
  4. Job 38:16 is where God asks if Job has journeyed to the springs of the sea or walked in the recesses of the deep – implying a sense of curiosity and exploration about the mysteries beneath the ocean's surface, and how deep God’s knowledge is. The discovery of hydrothermal vents in the 1970s by the Scripps Institute of Oceanography is an example of how humans have sought to uncover these underwater phenomena, over 2200 years after this verse was written. In other words, this verse shows how God knew His creation thousands of years before humans did.
Societal Relevance
Christians can harmonize faith with science by acknowledging that both are methods of learning about God and His creation. Science offers insights into the mechanics of our world while faith provides spiritual meaning and purpose. It is essential to maintain discernment in separating accurate scientific information from misinformation or false teachings that may not align with the findings of modern science or with the Bible.

By engaging in open dialogue, studying both scripture and scientific literature, and seeking wisdom from trusted sources, Christians can cultivate a deeper understanding of how faith intersects with the physical world we inhabit. Ultimately, this harmonious approach encourages curiosity, wonder, and appreciation for the nature of God's creation as revealed through scientific discovery.

Trump got them all.

We're at the point where you must be willing to let people fall. You can't make them listen or beat their head against the wall. And most of the watchmen are tired. There comes a point when the Lord tells you to stop.
Yep and i'm just about at that point.
And thank you for the good advice.

I think I have some form of scrupulously, and I’m nervous to talk about it.

Thank you for sharing. It is so good that you shared this with us. no, you are not a fraud, this is real, and I have been through similar things. the voice you are describing as God sounds a lot like a voice I have encountered. God shows who he is in his word to set us free. Storm the gates of heaven knowing that if the disciples before Jesus rose from the dead could ask and receive anything in Jesus' name how much more after he has risen from the dead and intercedes at God's right hand! Take hold of your freedom in Christ that God wants to give, not the voice that is oppressing you. Remember the voice you have heard will never go against Scripture. Seeking spiritual gifting either that you already have or fresh outpouring, to help you discern truth, is good, but also know every believer has everything they need for life and godliness. Think of the parable of the talents - not to discourage you but to show tat God gave you the gift of writing for a reason. Also it has helped me to be annointed by a pastor, as someone who has struggled with these things, at a Global Methodist church. https://authorconservatory.com/
Please see my edited message here where I clarify spelling and a sentence. I really recommend reading this first. The voice you have heard does go against Scripture which is why I edited to make clear what I was trying to say - I mean God's voice will not go against Scripture.

Why Passport Stamps Could Soon Disappear

A more high-tech border control will mean an end for travelers' most beloved souvenirs.

With the advent of biometric facial recognitionand digital passport control, high-tech methods of border control are speeding up the way we enter and exit countries around the world. But as immigration lines shrink, another aspect of the process is also starting to disappear: passport stamps.

Once the international standard for crossing borders, the analog process of immigration officers flipping through each traveler’s passport book to hand-stamp official ink entries—while an exciting step of the process for many international passengers to document their travels—is no doubt time-consuming and not the most reliable method for providing border clearance.

“Stamps often aren’t the best solution,” Sally French, a travel expert at NerdWallet, says. “If they’re printed poorly, they can be tough to access later on. They’re often placed randomly in passport books which can make them tough to find—and they can also be easily counterfeited.”

What’s the Vatican saying about alleged apparitions?

Since the Vatican unveiled a new streamlined process for evaluating alleged apparitions in May, a steady stream of rulings have followed.

The judgments, issued by the Vatican’s doctrine office, are written in somewhat technical language and address supposed supernatural events that may be unfamiliar to English-speaking Catholics.

Here’s a quick guide to the statements issued since the publication of the new norms by the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith (DDF), led by the industrious Cardinal Víctor Manuel Fernández.

What new rules?

Social scientists take a dive into the data on the Traditional Latin Mass — here’s what it reveals...

Recently rumors have been flying that Pope Francis is preparing to impose stringent restrictions on the Traditional Latin Mass. Of course, unfounded rumors out of the Vatican are not new, and some journalists have not been able to identify anybody who has actually seen the document in question. Still, even if it ends up being in the class of “Pope Francis is dying” rumors that we have heard for years, such a document would be in character for a pontificate that has emphasized placing hedges around the more conservative, traditional elements of the Church. While his predecessor’s position towards the Latin Mass community can be broadly characterized as one of accommodation, Pope Francis has taken a more confrontational approach.

But why? What is the problem with allowing what is by all measures a small fraction of Catholics to participate in a licit Mass that they find beautiful, reverent, and holy? The very real fact is that Traditional Latin Mass participation has been associated with factions inside the Church who do not accept Vatican II and may even be quasi-schismatic, and multiple popes have taken a variety of approaches in how to deal with groups such as the SSPX.

It is not our place to tell the Holy Father what to do; we are social scientists, not bishops, and one of us is not even Catholic; however the extent to which the TLM community is a schismatic hotbed of negative attitudes towards Vatican II is ultimately an empirical one that is scientifically investigable, and on this point there has been a clear lack of objective, systematically collected data.

Archbishop Gänswein Shares Stories of Pope Benedict XVI: Faith, Music, and Marian Devotion

Just looking into his eyes was enough to see the gentleness there — a clear and resolute gentleness, which can sometimes be firmer than marble.’

Pope Benedict XVI was born only 10 miles from a Marian shrine that has shaped the faith in Germany’s southern region Bavaria for centuries.

For the late German Pope, the city of Altötting was formative. Here, the first Benedict Forum took place from July 12 to 14. One of the highlights was a very personal conversation with Archbishop Georg Gänswein, Benedict’s private secretary, who accompanied him for almost two decades.

EWTN News’ Vatican Bureau’s Andreas Thonhauser interviewed the former prefect of the Papal House in German for an hour in front of hundreds of faithful, who had come to celebrate the legacy of Pope Benedict XVI. They learned about his favorite saints, his prayer life, his devotion to Mary, and how he felt about being accused during the German abuse scandals.

Pope Benedict was a man of faith. How did he live this faith on a daily basis?

In the day that you eat of it you shall SURELY DIE

ESV, Genesis 2:

17 but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.
Literal Standard Version:

but from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, you do not eat from it, for in the day of your eating from it—dying you die [מֹ֥ות תָּמֽוּת׃].”
you will surely
מ֥וֹת (mō·wṯ)
Verb - Qal - Infinitive absolute
Strong's 4191: To die, to kill

die.”
תָּמֽוּת׃ (tā·mūṯ)
Verb - Qal - Imperfect - second person masculine singular
Strong's 4191: To die, to kill

Solomon pronounced the same expression in 1 Kings 2:

36 Then the king sent and summoned Shimei and said to him, “Build yourself a house in Jerusalem and dwell there, and do not go out from there to any place whatever. 37 For on the day you go out and cross the brook Kidron, know for certain that you shall die [מֹ֣ות תָּמ֑וּת]. Your blood shall be on your own head.”
It was a sure death sentence. Later, Shimei disobeyed and left Jerusalem. He did not die on the day he left. He died after he returned to Jerusalem (v. 46).

These were examples of Hebrew word doubling. They were for word emphasis. Back then, there was no boldface or italics to highlight the word. For emphasis, they repeat the keyword in its absolute form.

For Adam and Eve, what kind of death was this? In what sense did Adam and Eve surely die or dying-you-die?

Before they ate the forbidden fruit, their knowledge of good and evil came only from God. As soon as they ate, they acquired their own way of determining good and evil. Right away, they thought being naked was not good. God had not thought that. Their consciences were separated from God; their consciences died to God. On the day of their eating it, the process of dying had started; dying, they shall die.

22 Then the LORD God said, “Behold, the man has become like one of us in knowing good and evil. Now, lest he reach out his hand and take also of the tree of life and eat, and live forever”.
They experienced dying-you-die in that they were not to live forever.

Genesis 5:

5 Altogether, Adam lived a total of 930 years, and then he died.
Like Shimei, Adam eventually died physically after the disobedience. In Genesis 2, God pronounced a punishment of death certainty by the Hebrew expression "dying you die" even though the physical death did not happen on the day of disobedience.

The Inheritance of The Saints

“And so, from the day we heard, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him: bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; being strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy; giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in light. He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.” (Colossians 1:9-14 ESV)
Not only do the saints have an inheritance from God, but God also has an inheritance (treasured possession) of the saints (Eph 1:18, Ex 34:9, Dt 4:20).
Who is the audience here? Those of genuine faith in Jesus Christ, a faith which is authored by God/Christ Jesus, is persuaded of God, and is gifted to us by God and is not of our own doing – not of the will nor of the flesh of man. For there is nothing in our flesh that we can do to earn or to deserve our own salvation. And we cannot even decide what this faith looks like, either, or what it should produce in us. God and the Bible are what determine the nature of this faith and how it is to be acted out in us.

[Hebrews 12:1-2; Ephesians 2:8-10; John 1:12-13; John 6:44]

Well, since this faith is authored by God, is persuaded of God, and is gifted to us by God, and it is not of our own flesh nor of our own doing, then it is a faith which results in us being crucified with Christ in death to sin and us being raised with Christ to walk in newness of life in him, no longer to live as slaves to sin, but now as slaves to God and to his righteousness. So we are no longer to obey sin, for if sin is what we obey, it leads to death. But if obedience to God is what we obey, its end is eternal life with Christ our Lord.

And the grace of God by which we are being saved is training us to renounce (say “No!” to) ungodliness and worldly passions (desires), and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives while we await our Lord’s return. For Jesus Christ “gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works”, “which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them” (see Romans 6:1-23; 1 Peter 2:24; Titus 2:11-14 and Ephesians 2:8-10).

So, this faith is not just lip service to the Lord while we continue living in sin. For Jesus said that not everyone who says to him, “Lord, Lord,” will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one DOING (obeying) the will of God the Father (Matthew 7:21-23). Therefore, by this faith we are to be those who are walking (in conduct, in practice, in purpose) in a manner worthy of (fitting to, suitable to, appropriate to) our Lord and to his divine will and character and purpose for our lives, as his followers who obey him in practice.

And we are to be those who are living our lives fully pleasing to the Lord. This does not mean we will never sin again (1 John 2:1-2) but that sin should no longer be our practice. Instead, righteousness and obedience to our Lord are to be what we practice. And so we are to find out what pleases the Lord, and then in his strength and power and wisdom do the things which please him, according to the Scriptures, and not according to our own fleshly reasoning and thinking and judgments.

[Matt 7:21-23; Lu 9:23-26; Jn 15:1-11; Rom 6:1-23; Rom 8:1-14; 1 Co 15:58; 2 Co 5:9; 2 Co 9:8; Gal 5:6; Gal 6:8; Eph 2:8-10; Eph 5:10; Php 2:12-13; Col 1:9-14; 1 Thes 2:4; 1 Thes 4:1; 2 Thess 1:11-12; 2 Tim. 2:4,21; Tit 2:11-14; Tit 3:8; Heb 11:6; Heb 13:6; Jas 2:17; 1 Jn 3:22]

And if we are walking in obedience to his commands, and no longer in sin, and if we are doing what pleases the Lord, according to his word, then we should be those who are bearing spiritual fruit in every good work (the works God prepared in advance that we should walk in them). And this should be evident in our actions, and in our speaking and in our lifestyles and in our practices, whether or not our lives are surrendered to Jesus Christ or if we are still living to please our flesh and to follow the world, instead.

For the whole purpose of why Jesus gave his life for us on that cross was to deliver us from the domain of darkness (sin, the devil) and to transfer us to the kingdom of Christ by genuine faith in the Lord whereby we die with him to sin so that we will now walk with him in obedience to his commands in holy living, by his grace. For the forgiveness of sins has with it the purpose that we will “go and sin no more,” not that we will continue living in sin without conscience. For if we continue in sin, we will not have eternal life.

Songs in the Night

An Original Work / December 18, 2013

“About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them.” Acts 16:25 NIV ‘84

Lord, I praise You forevermore.
You, my Savior, I now adore.
Hope in heaven awaiting me,
Because You died at Calvary.

I have been forgiven,
And I’m bound for heaven.
Jesus set me free from
All my sin, I say.
I will praise Him always!

Lord, I love You for all You’ve done:
Overcame death, my vict’ry won!
Jesus saved me, and now I’m free!
I rejoice in His love for me.

I will walk in vict’ry!
My sin is but hist’ry!
I am free to please Him
With my life today.
I will love Him always!

Lord, I thank You for giving me
A new life bought at Calvary.
Loving Jesus, I meet with Him.
Tender mercies now flow within.

Lord, I am so thankful;
Through my Lord, I’m able
To sit at His table;
Fellowship with Him.
I will thank Him always!

How did the legion of demons know that Jesus would torture them one of these days?

Isaiah prophesied in 24:

21 In that day the LORD will punish the host of heaven above and the kings of the earth below. 22 They will be gathered together like prisoners in a pit. They will be confined to a dungeon and punished after many days.
2Pe 2:

4b God did not spare the angels when they sinned, but cast them deep into Tartarus, placing them in chains of darkness to be held for judgment.
Jude 1:

6 And the angels who did not stay within their own domain but abandoned their proper dwelling—these He has kept in eternal chains under darkness, bound for judgment on that great day.
Rebellious heavenly beings will be imprisoned, judged, and punished.

Now, Mt 8:

28 When Jesus arrived on the other side in the region of the Gadarenes, He was met by two demon-possessed men coming from the tombs. They were so violent that no one could pass that way.
29 “What do You want with us, Son of God?” they shouted. “Have You come here to torture us before the appointed time?”
Mk 5:9 called this group of demons Legion. They knew that one day Jesus would torture them—probably on his second coming. They worried that Jesus might do it to them on his first coming, that he might send them to the Tartarus dungeon to torture them right away.

How did they know about their eventual ending?

Isaiah hinted at them. Further, as spiritual beings, God probably had warned them before in the spiritual realm.

Later, Jesus made it explicit in Matthew 25:

41 “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels."
They knew what was coming to them.

President Trump was shot at 6:11, Ephesians 6:11 says this.

Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Now does that really mean anything or a coincidence?

I just found it to be interesting is all.

Makes me wonder how much god played a part. I'm not saying trump was chosen by God, but God does tend to pick the imperfect to do his work because gods work is hard and it takes a hard man to do it.
I was thinking the other day that God may have very well used Judge Meachem to save Trump's life too. He refused to let Trump be gone from court and kept him from campaigning on court days. Less campaigning of course means less chance of anyone taking a shot. We should all send the Judge a thank you for protecting Trump.

Romans 8:28 (NASB)
28 And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.
