  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

GOP lawmakers warn Texas school district over 'anti-Israel' curriculum, students wearing 'Arafat scarf'

Letter warns attire 'has close ties to Hamas'

Two Republican congressmen are warning about alleged “antisemitic behavior” on school campuses in Texas involving students, teachers and school curriculum.

Republican U.S. Reps. Keith Self and Pat Fallon sent a letter on Aug. 6 to school district officials in Plano, a city about 20 miles north of Dallas, citing reports of “hateful behavior” on the campuses of five high schools, five middle schools and three elementary schools.

Noting recent years of high growth have proved to be "exciting times for North Texas and especially for Collin County,” the congressional letter cites a Times of Israel report from July about an in-class activity shared by parents from the Plano Independent School District (PISD) in which students were asked to play a Jeopardy-style game.

The report cited a prompt used in the game which included the answer, “Group who wants to gain back the country they lost to Israel.” The response read, “Who are the Palestinians?” The Times of Israel report also cited “anti-Israel and antisemitic rhetoric” in classroom discussions.

“This hateful ideology has no place in America,” Self said.

Former AP reporter on media bias toward Israel after Oct. 7

At the American Jewish Committee Global Forum 2025, award-winning journalist and former Associated Press correspondent Matti Friedman delivered a candid look at the bias, misinformation and double standards shaping global coverage relating to Israel.

From the rise of activist journalism to the endurance of skewed narratives, he revealed how the media can shape — and distort — reality.

Last month, the American Jewish Committee (AJC) released a podcast featuring highlights from the full interview. Friedman’s perspective comes from the inside: he worked in the AP’s Jerusalem bureau — the organization’s largest international office — between 2006 and 2011. And what he witnessed left him deeply concerned about how the Israel–Palestinian narrative is now being played out in today’s media climate.

“At the time … we had about 40 full-time staffers covering Israel — more than we had covering China, more than we had in India, more than we had in all of sub-Saharan Africa combined. I happen to think Israel is the most important country in the world because I live there. But if the news is meant to be a rational analysis of events on planet Earth, you cannot cover Israel more than you cover the continent of Africa. It just doesn't make any sense.”

French President Macron says France will recognize Palestine as a state (UK, Canada, Straya too)

Australia to recognize Palestinian state, leaving US increasingly isolated among key allies

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said Monday that his country will recognize a Palestinian state in September, joining a growing list of Western allies as international condemnation and anger builds over Israel’s actions in Gaza.

A formal recognition will be made at the United Nations General Assembly next month, where “Australia will recognize the right of the Palestinian people to a state of their own predicated on the commitments Australia has received from the Palestinian Authority,” Albanese said at a press conference.

It's one thing to say it, it's another thing to actually follow through come September...

If I were a betting man, I'd say there's a 50/50 chance one or more of them bail on that
(if the Israeli government is the shadowy powerful figure they claim it is)

If the Mossad is the entity we've been led to believe it is, you can believe they have operatives working around the clock looking for any whiff of sexual and/or financial improprieties (or manufacturing the conditions for some new ones) and digging into peoples' backgrounds to be used as leverage to get them "think better of it" in the coming weeks.

God's Discipline

I 'get' this!

Yes, God does allow for there to be 'crooks in our lot' ... things we cannot change, and must live with ... to draw us nearer to Him and teach us many things.

It is, in a way, a kind of discipline, because when we are faced with our 'crooks', we can choose to become angry and 'bitter' about them, or to become 'better' by accepting them and becoming more surrendered and dependent upon God to enable us to live with them. (No doubt, it is the latter that God prefers!)

I have a couple 'crooks' of my own ... things in my life that will not change ... difficult things ... but, like you, God has used them, and uses them, to draw me closer and keep me dependent upon Him. And that is blessing, great blessing, for one to know how much they truly do need God.

The 'crooks' God allows in our lives? They are potentially a very powerful, yet very loving, form of discipline.
Yes, though mine are also discipline because they relate to my greatest sins and He has humbled me through my mental struggles. In a sense, it was my own choices that allowed for the mental illness to reach the point it came to, and through the treatment of that mental illness He has shown me purpose and brought me peace. Though of course, being discipline those things were not pleasant when I was in the thick of things.

What Stores To Avoid And What Stores to Shop At

I don’t shop at big stores as much anymore. Sometimes it’s because I don’t like what they support, other times the service is bad or the quality isn’t good. I don’t really stick to one brand now, since most stores have some kind of problem. I try to buy from small shops or straight from the people who make the stuff, but that can be too expensive.

For something like designer-style shoes, I've actually started checking out some replica designer shoes websites. The prices and variety make it easier to pick up a few nice-looking things without overspending, which has helped me shop around the big chains.

‘Hebrew Catholic’ association launches in Israel

The Association of Hebrew Catholicswas founded by Carmelite priest Father Elias Friedman, OCD, a Jewish convert to Catholicism who lived at Stella Maris Monastery on Mount Carmel in Haifa, Israel.

I’ll be interested to look up Fr. Friedman and his background. :) I think it’s a wonderful idea.
They've been around in the USA for a while now. I think they are particularly active in and around St. Louis.

Businesses are raising prices after tariffs — even on unaffected goods

I keep hearing that prices are going to increase but I haven’t actually seen it yet.
again one word TACO, trumps always balks before or just as prices and things start to go up. Funny enough trump pretty much cancled the chinese tariffs JUST at the deadline for prices to go up.

Is this blasphemous?

So, basically, my friend and I are super close. Like, we've known each other since first grade. We are both Christian, and enjoy quick Bible studies, often over lunch. And, one day, we decided to eat at Panera. If you aren't familiar with the place, just know that most of the items on the menu either come with bread on the side or are in between bread. So we both hauled our Bibles over to Panera and got some food. I don't remember the exacts of what either of us ordered, but those are irrelevant to the story. Whatever I ordered came with a side bread, which my friend really wanted a portion of, so we agreed to split it. As I split the bread, I jokingly said 'this is my body' as a reference to Jesus' famous line to get in the mood for, you know, studying Jesus. He looked a little caught off-guard, but laughed and took the bread. I don't think he was offended by any means, and it may just have been he didn't hear, but the thought's been sticking with me since. Was I blasphemous? I'd appreciate if someone could tell me and, if so, what I can do better next time.
I wouldn't call it blasphemy, just really stupid.
It is written..."Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children;
2 And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet smelling savour.
3 But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints;
4 Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks.
5 For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God." (Eph 5:1-5)

Politcians and Party

Politician or Party? by Jeb Smith | Aug 12, 2025

Politician or Party? | The Libertarian Institute

Political news hosts will rail against an opposing party member, declaring they must be replaced for passing legislation the pundit disagrees with. To which I always wonder: who will replace them? And who will replace the people who elected them and their financial backers? Who will be in their position in twenty years’ time? You can keep picking apples from an apple tree hoping for a pear, but it will not happen. If you keep returning to the same tree year after year, you can find variations in taste, color, and size, but you will get the essential fruit every time because it derives from the same tree...

Trump signs EO reestablishing ‘Presidential Fitness Test’ for students

Ironically, that's one area where Trump seems to be somewhat "more immune to the aging effects of being president".

Perhaps it's because he was already a older when he got elected, so the aging difference isn't as much of a stark contrast.

He that IS coming shall arrive and NOT DELAY...

@orbiter

You have taught well. Let me speak because iron sharpens iron:

Is it not faith that gives us (age-lasting) eternal life rather than keeping a daily sacrifice? Because the Lord told Martha "whosoever lives and believes in me will never die..." and it also says "he that believes on the Son of God has the witness in himself..." then it must be by faith not by a daily sacrifice. Is it not also written "the just shall live by faith?"

As for the the man-based churches, the antichrists and all liars with them: Are you so cowardly to fear even sitting with them that they might destroy your life? Who are you to be scared of man, which is like a worm and fade away like grass? You are denying the power of God even like they. Nothing can separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Sit with them and rebuke them, if so be Christ is in you. Perhaps God will give them repentance.

Reckoning with empire: A Catholic critique of American foreign policy in a nuclear age

urakami-e1754920951651.jpg

The Immaculate Conception Cathedral (also known as the Urakami Cathedral) was heavily damaged after the Aug. 9, 1945 atomic bombing. (Public Domain via Wikimedia Commons)

In our era of war, drone strikes and simmering nuclear tensions, Catholics must bring the Gospel to bear on global affairs, not merely in prayer, but in policy, and hold their leaders accountable in doing so.

For too long, American foreign policy has been animated by a belief in “American exceptionalism” — the idea that the United States is a singular, divinely favored nation destined to lead the world — and a determination to preserve its role as the sole superpower in a unipolar world. Yet this vision, however noble it may sound to patriotic ears, has had devastating consequences: perpetual war, collapsed states, millions of lives lost and the ever-present specter of nuclear catastrophe.

Two Catholic thinkers, Patrick J. Buchanan and Andrew Bacevich, have issued prophetic critiques of this imperial orientation. Although differing in temperament and political perspectives (Buchanan from the right; Bacevich from a more centrist and scholarly perspective), both warn that the pursuit of American dominance not only betrays Christian moral teaching but also endangers the very world we claim to lead.

To understand why American foreign policy has become so reckless, one must first examine the myth that sustains it: that America is exceptional, a “city upon a hill,” uniquely tasked with spreading democracy and freedom. This self-image often blinds policymakers to the limits of power, the sovereignty of other nations and the cost in human life of our military interventions. It creates a moral framework where U.S. actions, however violent, are always justified, while resistance is labeled as terrorism or tyranny.

This vision of global leadership is not rooted in humility but in hubris. In the nuclear age, such pride could lead not only to our fall, but to the annihilation of life on Earth.

Commemoration, vs remembrance?

Just what some say about some of this stuff in protestant forums.... inaccurate descriptions of your practices of faith. Not so much liturgical, and sacramental protestants, but plenty of others out there reject all of that. Seeking honest discussion when this comes up. Some are not intentional in this, but still it is not accurate.

Jonathan Cahn Answers Candace Owens/J. Cahn Prophetic

AI summary:

Key Points from "Jonathan Cahn Answers Candace Owens & Varied Anti-Semites | Jonathan Cahn Prophetic"

  1. Candace Owens' Shift in Rhetoric:
    • Initially a conservative commentator on Fox News and The Daily Wire, Candace Owens has increasingly expressed anti-Israel, anti-Jewish sentiments, accusing Israel of being a "cult nation" and questioning Jewish history and suffering.
  2. Biblical Perspective on Anti-Semitism:
    • Cahn frames Owens' views as part of an ancient hatred rooted in the Bible, where a "dark entity" (the devil or dragon, as per Revelation 12) seeks to destroy the Jewish people, who are central to God’s plan through Israel and the Messiah.
  3. Specific Accusations by Owens:
    • Owens calls Israel the "master of the universe," a phrase Cahn compares to anti-Semitic tropes used by Hitler, portraying Jews as secretly controlling global affairs.
    • She claims Jewish refugees post-Holocaust were "pretending" to be refugees, dismissing the reality of their persecution and suffering.
    • Owens labels Israel a "cult nation" and the Star of David a "hexog" (misusing the term to imply occultism), which Cahn refutes as baseless and rooted in conspiracy theories.
  4. Historical Context of Israel’s Formation:
    • Cahn counters Owens’ narrative by explaining that the UN voted in 1947 to partition the land for a Jewish state, which was attacked by five Arab nations upon its establishment in 1948. Israel’s survival was a "miracle of God."
  5. Anti-Semitic Tropes and Conspiracy Theories:
    • Owens’ claims include accusations of Jewish ritual murder (the "blood libel") and a global Jewish conspiracy, which Cahn labels as "psychotic nonsense" from the "depths of hell," historically used to incite violence against Jews.
    • He warns that the internet amplifies these lies, poisoning those who consume them, with Owens as a modern vessel for such falsehoods.
  6. Biblical Defense of Israel:
    • Cahn cites scriptures (e.g., Ezekiel 20, 11, 34) to argue that God promised to restore the Jewish people to Israel as real refugees, fulfilling divine prophecy.
    • He asserts that opposing Zionism (the belief in the Jewish right to their homeland) aligns one with the "dragon" (Satan) against God’s will.
  7. Criticism of Owens’ Other Claims:
    • Owens downplays Iran’s role as a terrorist state, blaming Israel for its hostility, despite Iran’s long-standing anti-American and anti-Israel rhetoric.
    • She has also spread unrelated conspiracies, like claiming the French president’s wife is transgender, showing a pattern of embracing unfounded theories.
  8. Call to Action for Believers:
    • Cahn urges Christians to reject anti-Semitism and anti-Israel sentiments, warning that aligning with such views is aligning with the devil’s accusations (Zechariah 3).
    • He emphasizes God’s promise to bless those who bless Israel and curse those who curse it (Genesis 12:3), encouraging prayer for Jerusalem’s peace.
  9. Personal and Prophetic Implications:
    • Cahn connects God’s faithfulness to Israel with His faithfulness to individuals, citing Jeremiah 29:11 to assure believers of God’s plans for a hopeful future.
    • He warns that the devil is targeting evangelical support for Israel, a key ally, and plans to address related issues (e.g., replacement theology, the Abrahamic covenant) in future videos.
  10. Promotional Content:
    • Cahn promotes his upcoming book, The Avatar, described as explosive and revelatory, and encourages pre-ordering.
    • He mentions the Harbinger graphic novel and a "Book of Revelation Super Tour" to biblical sites like Patmos, Athens, and Ephesus.
  11. Warning Against Deception:
    • Cahn advises rejecting anti-Semitic conspiracies as poison and warns that those spreading such lies will face divine judgment before a "Jewish Israeli Zionist King" (Jesus).
  12. Prayer and Hope:
    • He calls for prayer for Owens’ deliverance from deception and for believers to stand firm, blessing Israel to align with God’s will and receive His blessings.
That's an excellent summary of the video. Thanks for sharing it!
