  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

American President Donald J. Trump, Im Not Americas Savior, Jesus Is

You know what's gross and cringe? Seeing a picture of Jesus photoshopped standing next to Trump in prayer. Never have I wanted to throw up in my life as to seeing that.

I mean, who comes up with these graphics?
I was thinking the same of Bidens 4 years and auto pen signatures regarding American tax dollars

Fasting through Mom’s Lenten meals: A humble look at Catholic fasting

Not “nearly.” It is. And then some. No oil. No animal products. No eggs, dairy, etc. No butter, etc. The Orthodox Great Fast is meant to help us see how frail we are. It is a revealing time. Many fail. I sure have and do. Lots of confession and refocusing! But for us, giving alms and prayer is even more significant. Attending Presanctified liturgy helps nourish us. We as a culture in the West are soooo reliant upon and addicted to as well as mentally enraptured by food. I know I am. The Fast reveals our weakness and need for prayer. Great Lent is about re-establishing our prayer rule if we’ve fallen off the wagon and trying to reach out to God in a deeper way.
God bless you, Scott!

Please pray for my mother who's in afib and going through a really bad flu

This one was really rough. She seems to be better, but now she's not urinating much at all, and when she does, it's dark. I think we might end up having to go to the hospital. Please pray for her kidneys to start working again.

And thank you all so much for all of your prayers! It's been rough over the years, but I'm so grateful for every prayer you've all prayed for her.
Continued prayers!

Putin’s candidate in the US presidential election – Biden

So he was wrong. He's only a human being. Human beings are wrong from time to time. Why do you and others on the Left expect Trump to be infallible?
After all, we have seen many multiple times when liberal politicians are very, very fallible.

Release International prayers for Indonesia, Egypt

15 March 2025 – Indonesia

Pray for a house church group in Bekasi, who recently had their Sunday service stopped by an angry neighbour. Praise God that shortly afterwards an apology was offered. However, this is not an isolated incident on Java, and as a result the church has been forced to move to another venue.

Lent

Doing ok I think, but I forgot about ember days and haven't abstained Wednesday or today. Though I suppose I could catch up by not having dinner.

I did fall into a state of mortal sin a few days ago and need to go to confession, which is always kinda difficult with my constant work schedule but I think I should be able to go next Wednesday night.
God bless you, sir!

Lenten guidelines: Is faux meat allowed on Fridays?

I do get concerned about whether or not I would have wanted to be Catholic if I grew up in a different era. I don't think I could have done any of those rules at all. I'm very grateful that more mercy is extended about this now.
Agreed.

Salvation’s Lot and Our Destiny

One’s salvation is never lost. If you or someone else believe you have “lost” your salvation, it was never yours to begin with. What is salvation? According to the Oxford Dictionary, salvation was first defined around 1225 AD as “The saving of the soul; the deliverance from sin and its consequences, and admission to eternal bliss, wrought for man by the atonement of Christ.”

Who gives us this salvation? It is God Himself. In the context of the definition above, it is God who can save our soul and give us admission to eternal bliss. Ephesians 2:8 says, “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God...”

What is Jesus’ role in our salvation? According to John 3:16, “God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” Jesus confirms in John 14:6, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” Not that Jesus is the guard standing by the door to God, rather it’s his connection to God that stands as the Light to entry into eternal life with Him. Jesus is the one calling God’s attention to who may be saved and thus receive salvation for the people who didn’t know beforehand.

Is it possible for one to forfeit their own salvation once they receive it? The Bible says that God determines our destiny. Proverbs 16:9 says, “The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.” Ephesians 1:11 says, “In him we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of him who works all things according to the counsel of his will...” Is there anything in the Bible in which God has given a person Salvation only to take it away? He knows beforehand what our destiny is. Some are destined to never qualify for salvation.

There may be some who, despite living a life of sin, in the final moments of life have done something that compelled God to give them salvation. An example of one such incident is one of a condemned man who was on the cross next to Jesus in Luke 23:39-43. There the condemned man, knowing who Jesus is, asks him in Verse 42 to remember him when Jesus goes into God’s Kingdom. Jesus in Verse 43 says to him “Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in paradise.” From what we know about God, it’s not that Jesus brought the condemned man into Paradise, it’s that Jesus knew that God would bring him in.

At the end of the day, salvation is not for each person to lose if it wasn’t given to the person to begin with.

Top Democrat Donor Pleads Guilty in $145 Million Fraud Scandal Over Woke Scheme

The article is pretty plainly stated - you would have to address your inquiries to the author - of whom I am not.
It really isn't. (That was horrible site. Poorly designed, ads everywhere. Plus for bonus this 'news article' was actually labeled "political commentary". Hahaha.)

Blackened Fish Tacos

Total Time: 30 minutes

Yield: 4

My Blackened Fish Tacos bring the perfect balance of smoky spice and fresh crunch. Served in warm tortillas topped with a crisp slaw with a zesty sauce for a satisfying meal.

INGREDIENTS

For the Tilapia:

  • 4 tilapia fillets
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper, optional, for heat
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
For the Avocado Cilantro Sauce:

  • 1 ripe avocado
  • 1/4 cup sour cream or Greek yogurt
  • 2 tbsp lime juice, about 1 lime
  • 1 small garlic clove
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro leaves
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2–4 tbsp water (to thin, as needed)
For the Tacos:

  • 8 small corn or flour tortillas, warmed
  • 2 cups shredded red cabbage
  • 1/4 cup diced white or yellow onion
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
  • Lime wedges, for serving
  • Jalapeno, sliced (optional)

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. In a small bowl, combine smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cumin, cayenne (if using), salt, and black pepper.
  2. Pat the tilapia fillets dry with a paper towel and coat both sides with olive oil. Rub the spice mixture evenly over both sides of each fillet.
  3. Heat a large non-stick skillet over medium-high heat, adding olive oil if needed. Cook the fillets for 3-4 minutes per side, until the fish is opaque and flakes easily. Remove from heat and let rest for a few minutes before breaking into chunks.
  4. In a blender or food processor, combine avocado, sour cream (or Greek yogurt), lime juice, garlic, cilantro, olive oil, and salt. Blend until smooth. Add water, 1 tablespoon at a time, until the sauce reaches your desired consistency.
  5. Place a layer of shredded red cabbage on each tortilla. Top with chunks of blackened tilapia, a drizzle of avocado cilantro sauce, diced onion, and chopped cilantro.
  6. Serve with lime wedges for squeezing over the top.

Ten Senate Democrats ignore growing party anger to help advance Trump’s spending bill

Stock market gained 25% in the last two months of the Biden administration. Since Trump has been president, we've gone into a correction--10%.
Key word - correction
Some of it is due to the tariffs, some due to his snubbing our traditional allies in Nato and befriending totalitarian empire-building dictators.
Thanks for your opinion - got any facts?
Some of it is due to the unelected Musk seemingly calling all the shots for the president.
That level of bias is not addressable

Some of it is due to the cabinet choices, who are acting like a wrecking crew in many of their departments.
Getting rid of corruption and waste might feel like a wrecking crew to the ones who are getting rich off it.
Some of it is due to Trump's flagging popularity (which is nowhere near bottom yet.)
This isn't a popularity contest - but how popular it the DNC? 31%?
You may be one of the unconditional Trump lovers.
To an unconditional Trump hater -any support would look like it.
Many more will prioritize their well-being and lack the masochism to suffer through tariff-led inflation and retaliatory tariff-led unemployment,.
Again - thank you for your opinion based on.... I'm just not sure what.
The defectors may not be "woke," but they will be awakened and enlightened.
What defectors? The Republican Party is growing - some from Democrats who no longer identify with what their party seems to have become.

Rubio tweets that the South African ambassador to U.S. is persona non grata: ‘no longer welcome’

Calling Rasool “a race-baiting politician who hates America and hates @POTUS,” referring to President Donald Trump, Rubio said in a social media post that “we have nothing to discuss with him.”

The immediate cause of Rubio’s ire appeared to be a speech Rasool delivered virtually to a Johannesburg think tank Friday in which he said Trump was “mobilizing” white supremacy in the United States and “abroad as well,” according to a Breitbart News article cited by Rubio’s post.

Rasool made particular mention of Vice President JD Vance’s support for Germany’s right-wing Alternative for Germany political party, and the prominence within the Trump administration of Elon Musk, a White South African who has also supported conservative political movements in other countries.

In a statement issued Saturday, the office of South African President Cyril Ramaphosa noted “the regrettable expulsion” of Rasool.
