  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

White House press secretary hints at biggest Ukraine-Russia breakthrough yet

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told reporters on Friday that "we have never been closer to peace," as the U.S. waits for Russia’s answer on a 30-day ceasefire agreement. Ukraine accepted the deal earlier this week after a meeting with U.S. officials in Saudi Arabia, on the condition that Moscow commits to the plan.

Leavitt noted that this morning President Donald Trump put out a scathing Truth Social post that included a message urging the Russians to accept the U.S. ceasefire proposal.

“He is putting pressure on President Putin and the Russians to do the right thing," Leavitt told reporters. "Yesterday was a productive day for the United States of America and for the world. In terms of peace, we have never been this close to peace."

Discussing Theology, and Everything Else

Discussing Theology, and Everything Else

i_love_you_on_paper-t1_31353539_std.24511444_std.jpg

Now about food sacrificed to idols: We know that “We all possess knowledge.” But knowledge puffs up while love builds up.
~1 Corinthians 8:1

I love theology.

Why?

Because I love God and theology is another tool God can use to help us get to know Him and his ways better.

There can be misconceptions about we “lovers of theology”. Some would have you believe that we are a pitiful bunch with a lust for knowledge. Well, at times that can be the case, but overall I believe many of us believers love theology because we want to know God and his ways better. Knowledge alone cannot lead us to God, but God can and does use it to draw us to Him.

It can be a challenge to have a theological discussion without the conversation heading south, but what a wonderful source of knowledge when the conversation is rooted in the love of God, which includes loving our neighbors as ourselves. Over the years I have considered what makes for a rewarding theological discussion (or any discussion for that matter as these challenges are not limited to theology). Here are some pointers:

1. Know what motivates you.
This is very important. The force that is driving us is at the foundation of our faith. We are to be driven by love for God found in Christ. You know, loving God with all and neighbor as self. The Word of God tells us that without love we are just making a lot of annoying noise. Don't leave out the love, that's the most important part. It's the glue that holds it all together and how God's Spirit works.

2. Maintain humility.
Talking down to others as if they are morons is a recipe for disaster. Without Jesus we are all morons so there is really nothing to be boastful about but Him. The attitude of the heart speaks louder than words and when we are looking down on others their heart can go on autopilot and close off. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing as it can protect them from unnecessary and harmful injury so we shouldn't assume that they need to be open to us even if we meant no offense. God knows what they are dealing with so don't force the issue. Would you want someone barging into your home when you haven't put out the welcome mat? I think not, so do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

3. Know that we all see in part.
None of us knows it all. We all are a part and see in part. Familiarize yourself with the different views.

For instance, some have insider information, or a more intimate view from being on the inside. Some have a more objective view that can come from being on the outside. Some are equipped with both. Prayerfully consider how each can be a benefit or hindrance. Why do we want to embrace one and toss out the other? A better view may be to understand the limitations in each, but they can both live in harmony in Christ. In Him we find the best view.

4. Know God’s part and your part.
We plant and water, God makes the seed grow. He does the most important part. We make a mess of things when we try and do God’s part. Let Him do the revealing and convincing.

There are times you may feel the need to repeat yourself, or clarify. One can do that, but be aware when you're being pushy.

5. See the heart behind it.
We don't always have it all right and that is ok. He who does, feel free to cast the first stone.

There is breathing room for growth found in the blood of Jesus. Sometimes our knowledge is terribly off too, but with God we can see our own hearts, and others as He reveals. Don't just focus on the words. There is a human being that God loves dearly behind the words. Just remember, just because our hearts may be in the right condition it isn't right until it is at One with our Lord's Heart, but it is pleasing to Him that it is in the right condition to receive from Him.

And don't be afraid to hit the eject button from a discussion if you sense trouble brewing, but that's up to you and God. Just saying, don't get sucked into emotional and spiritual drainers.

On another note, unless God personally tells you differently, or you are in another's home who doesn't welcome it, feel free to stretch your wings and learn to fly.

That is it for now, but feel free to check back for any additions. It can be a challenge to discuss topics near and dear to our hearts without things getting hairy, but it isn't impossible and quite rewarding when we find those we can share with. It just requires quite a bit of maturity in Christ. You know, dying to our selfishness and being driven by his love. Now that's a recipe for success.

And through it all let us remember Paul's instructions to Timothy found in the Holy Scriptures: Timothy, guard what has been entrusted to your care. Turn away from godless chatter and the opposing ideas of what is falsely called knowledge, which some have professed and in so doing have departed from the faith. ~1 Timothy 6:20-21

Major Florida Orange Grower to Abandon Growing Oranges

A major Florida orange grower, that supplies Tropicana, is abandoning growing
oranges. The reason is the number of hurricanes, and the spreading of plant
diseases.

Of course, politicians who think that they are superb at negotiating, can try to
negotiate with the changing weather patterns, to make orange growing in southern
Florida viable again.

Trump vs. Ukraine, or Trump vs. Zelensky

Russia as a whole does not have an argument with Ukraine. The war against Ukraine is Putin's war.
Vladimir Putin could die of a stroke or a heart attack tomorrow. That's a reason for Ukraine to fight on.
I'd say Russias main argument is that it cannot tolerate what it perceives as a hostile military alliance right next to it in a country as significant as Ukraine.

You're encouraging them to fight a war they cannot win.

Global Awakening Healing Rooms

Hi everyone, an idea- there is a ministry in Mechanicsburg, PA called Global Awakening, it is Randy Clark's ministry, that place is AMAZING! Very strong presence of God in the building! They have Fire nights twice per month on Fridays at 7pm and healing and prophetic rooms before the meeting at 5:30pm. If you need healing prayer you need to get down there! I have schizophrenia and I went for healing prayer on March 3 and I got powerfully ministered to, I was sick as a dog when I arrived but I got healed of alot of things during prayer! They have a slick operation there! The worship at the Fire night was also off the charts! I will go again for the next meeting! I may even apply for a job at Global Awakening, they need IT people and that is my line of work! They also have GSSM (Global School of Supernatural Ministry) on campus, I may get on board with that too! They have a 2 year ministry school at GSSM and also a summer intensive program!

Church words - are they legit or is there problems?

There a couple that the only to see what there mean is to have VINE'S Greek DICTIONARY and STROMGS CONCORDANCE

that has all the Greek and Hebrew words .

Here are just a few of them !!

#1 There is no Greek word for RAPTURE !!

# 2 There is no Greek for PURAGTORY in the bible !!

# 3 The Greek word EKKLESIA , does not mean CHRCH , it means ASSEMBLY !!

And if you buy these two books and Use BLUE LETTER BIBLE or BIBLE HUB which is free you will NOT get headaches

and ypu will slowly learn Greek !!

dan p
Rapture comes from the Latin word Rapture, Which means to catch up.

this is in the word. but yes. we should use literal defenitions. not base words. alot of confusion would go away

Dr. Carl Werner speaks of 150 cases of fraud in Evolution "science" - interview

I very much doubt it. I may not believe in God... but I'm not going to worship some fascist world dictating miracle worker, even if he's publicly solved some biological mysteries.

I'm an atheist, doesn't mean I agree with the philosophies of Stalin, Pol Pot or Anton Le Vey.

Fair enough.

You'll be reduced to begging for food then.

New York FBI Field Office Head Forced Out Days After His Office Was Revealed to Have Been Hiding Thousands of Epstein Documents

I am one of those 9 million and I know what party gambled with my life and caused deaths on top of it. It's why I vote Republican.

Odd, I, too, am one of those 9 million and know what party gambled with military lives, which is why I'm no longer a Republican.

Were you disappointed by your Christmas service?

As a rule, I try to avoid Christmas and Easter services. In way too many churches, they tend to be dog and pony shows for the ones who only show up on those two holidays.
Also not a fan of Christmas Eve services. I hate standing up and holding a drippy candle (even with protectors) while "Silent Night" is sung as slowly as possible.

Republicans ready to claw back troves of Biden regulations when they take power in Washington

Promises made, promises kept.

ELIMINATING 10 REGULATIONS FOR EACH NEW REGULATION ISSUED: Today, President Donald J. Trump signed an Executive Order to unleash prosperity through deregulation.

  • The Order requires that whenever an agency promulgates a new rule, regulation, or guidance, it must identify at least 10 existing rules, regulations, or guidance documents to be repealed.
  • The Director of the Office of Management and Budget will ensure standardized measurement and estimation of regulatory costs.
  • It requires that for fiscal year 2025, the total incremental cost of all new regulations, including repealed regulations, be significantly less than zero.

Trump sends help to the border

Whoosh! States not on the border are also affected.

Hey, What About! And so what? This looks like that - they must be the same thing!
What was the point of this post?

Since you offered no editorial - please explain .

And did you know the bankruptcies happened more than 7 weeks ago - BEFORE our President closed the border.

Leah had WEAK eyes

NIV Genesis 29:
17 Leah had weak eyes, but Rachel had a lovely figure and was beautiful.
Strong's Hebrew: 7390. רַך (rak) — 16 Occurrences
Strong's Exhaustive Concordance:
fainthearted, soft, tender hearted, weak From rakak; tender (literally or figuratively); by implication, weak -- faint((-hearted), soft, tender ((-hearted), one), weak.
Leah had weak eyes as opposed to strong, well-defined eyes. Look on the bright side, she had a strong womb to bear six sons for Jacob, including Judah who was the ancestor of Jesus (Mat 1:3, Luke 3:33).

Did Roman soldiers ever receive their salaries in salt?

The English word *salary* came from the Latin word for *salt* [Oxford]:
>Middle English: from Anglo-Norman French salarie, from Latin salarium, originally denoting a Roman soldier's allowance to buy salt, from sal ‘salt’.

Salarium originally referred to a monetary allowance given to soldiers to buy salt, which was a valuable commodity in ancient times—essential for preserving food, seasoning, and even medicinal purposes. Over time, salarium evolved to mean a regular wage or stipend in money, not salt.

Did Roman soldiers ever receive their salaries in salt?

No. They received salaries in Roman coinage which they could use to buy salt. Their level of salary was measured by how much salt they could buy. Soldiers were not literally paid with bags of salt instead of coins. Rome had a sophisticated economy with coinage, like the denarius.

Could salt be used to buy things?

Yes, but only in the bartering sense. The standard currency was Roman coins made of gold, silver, bronze, or copper.

False Teachers Among You

“But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will also be false teachers among you, who will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing swift destruction upon themselves. Many will follow their sensuality, and because of them the way of the truth will be maligned; and in their greed they will exploit you with false words; their judgment from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep.” (2 Peter 2:1-3 NASB’95)

I live in America, so I can only speak to what I know of what is going on in my nation. But over my lifetime of 75 years, the gospel message which is largely being taught has changed so drastically that it is nothing at all like Jesus taught it, and like his New Testament apostles taught it. When I was growing up as a child and as a youth I was taught the importance of death to sin and walks of obedience to my Lord’s commands, and of holy living.

But I will say this. When I was a young woman in my 20’s I was being taught a gospel presentation that was pretty weak, and that used Scriptures taught out of context to make their case, and so it did water down the truth of the gospel and it made it easy for people to “believe” in Jesus without evidence that their faith was genuine, and of God, for it focused more on “praying a prayer to receive Jesus Christ” and less on holy living.

It was a gospel message that assured people who “prayed the prayer” of their salvation from sin and their eternal life with God in heaven that could not be taken away from them regardless of how they lived. They were not so blatant back then to stress the “regardless of how you live” message as they are today, but by not stressing that true faith results in us dying to sin and walking in obedience to our Lord’s commands, it gave the same message.

For many people from then on got the distinct message that once they “prayed the prayer” that now all their sins were forgiven, and heaven was guaranteed them when they died, end of story. “Church attendance” was often stressed more than dying daily to sin and walks of surrender and obedience to our Lord as having any impact on our salvation and eternal life with God at all. You were regarded as a “backslider” if you didn’t attend “church” services. But you could live in sin and they would leave you alone.

But let me say this about “the church.” The church is not a building. It is not a church denomination. It is not a business incorporated under (partnered with) the state to be marketed to the world like any other business. It is not a stage production geared toward “drawing in large crowds of people from the world” into their gatherings so that they fill up “the church” with the ungodly. The church is the universal body of believers in Jesus Christ, and the purpose of our gatherings is to strengthen one another in the faith.

Anyway, so much of what the Scriptures teach about the church and the gospel of our salvation has gotten so discombobulated (confused) now that they are barely recognizable as the biblical church and the gospel taught by Jesus and by his New Testament apostles. So many are now teaching that you can make an acknowledgment of Jesus as your Savior but that you are not required to die to sin nor are you required to obey the Lord. All they have to do is give lip service to God and they are promised eternal life.

And this is being taught by these false prophets, apostles, evangelists, and pastors and teachers of the Scriptures. So what they are doing is they are leaving the door wide open for “Christians” to continue living in their sins, in sexual immorality, adultery, lying, cheating, and stealing, etc. while they guarantee them heaven upon death. And they are not teaching them if sin is what they practice, and not obedience to God, that they do not have the hope of salvation from sin and eternal life with God, for that offends people.

And so we have a country full of professing Christians whose way of living is really not much different from those who make no professions of faith in the Lord. They watch all the same stuff, tell the same jokes, play the same games, and they blend right in with the world. So many of their gatherings are theatre productions intended to draw in large crowds of people from the world and they do not operate as the biblical body of Christ at all. So they really are not much different from those who do not profess faith in Christ.

But it isn’t just that so much of the church has become so worldly in order to “win the world” or that many are no longer teaching the gospel that Jesus and his New Testament apostles taught regarding the necessity of us dying with Christ to sin and now walking in obedience to his commands. But so many of them now are opposing and rejecting and persecuting those who are still teaching the gospel as Jesus taught it. And they are accusing us falsely of teaching “works salvation” because we are repeating what Jesus taught.

But God will discipline them. God will cast his judgment upon those who are deliberately teaching what is false and who are rebuking his saints who are teaching what is truth. He will judge them for their deliberate lies and deceptions and for falsifying his truth in order to lead people away from the truth to follow after the lies. And he will judge all who have followed in the ways of deception and sensuality and who are still living in sin and whose practice is not obey our Lord. They will not have eternal life with God.

Bombs are bursting. Night is falling.
Jesus Christ is gently calling
You to follow Him in all ways.
Trust Him with your life today.
Make Him your Lord and your Savior.
Turn from your sin. Follow Jesus.
He will forgive you of your sin;
Cleanse your heart, made new within.

Men betraying: Our trust fraying.
On our knees to God we’re praying,
Seeking God to give us answers
That are only found in Him.
God is sovereign over all things.
Nothing from His mind escaping.
He has all things under His command,
And will work all for good.

Jesus Christ is gently calling
You to follow Him in all ways.

Men deceiving: We’re believing
In our Lord, and interceding
For our nation and its people
To obey their God today.
He is our hope for our future.
For our wounds He offers suture.
He is all we need for this life.
Trust Him with your life today.

I always think back to Star trek IV where Kirk tells the whale doctor, “He (Spock) was part of the free speech movement at Berkley in the 60’s. He did a little too much LDS.”:p:p:p

That scene itself managed to be “a more colorful metaphor” on on the Mormon religion as a whole.

Archeologists discover materials deposited by water on Mt. Ararat

"Human activity, however, does not a Biblical account prove. The Durupinar formation has been put forth as a potential ark resting place for many years, and has received extensive attention from those hoping to find Noah’s Ark. Despite the hype, archaeologists have consistently reaffirmed over the years that the formation is natural, not the result of a petrified shipwreck
I'm skeptical of the Durupinar formation, and I've also heard claims that it's a natural occurrence, and that may well be. I try to keep an open mind though. I saw a video that showed pictures of the remains of very ancient boats that have decayed away, and they looked remarkably similar to the Durupinar formation. Then you add in all the droge stones in the area, plus the tradition of the church marking the site of Noah's home, the ancient fence and all, and it makes you wonder.

Trump's ICE racks up hundreds of arrests, including illegal immigrants arrested for horror crimes

I am saying that you won't solve the crime problem by indiscriminately scapegoating millions of people and acting as if that will solve the problem of crime.
But fanning the flames of hatred gets votes. Who cares it's not true?
Why do you defend illegal entry and encourage open borders Fantine? Do you believe America or any country shouldn't have sovereignty to control people who come and go?
