  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Of course.
Of course they could just leave us alone and we'd leave them alone. Honestly, NO ONE CARES IF THEY THINK THEY ARE THE OPPOSITE SEX. NO ONE.

It only matters when they decide to force the rest of us to believe it too. That's where the battle started. They have a mental illness. And we have no problem with them being ill. Its a real tragedy.

They are welcome to live however they wish. No one cares.

Its about time we realize the problem is theirs not ours. They are ill and should not be treated as if they are not and society should noy be required to bow down to their illness.

Is This The New Normal?

This is the reason the leftists say crime is down. Because they have redefined words to suit their agenda.
Do you consider disagreeing with the government, or the policies of the government, to be a crime?

-- A2SG, there's a term for governments which criminalize anyone who disagrees with them.....

Fair enough. But how do we screen for mental health problems before gun purchases? The honor system: a question on a form? Identification is the problem.
Hey we gotta start somewhere right? We have to do something. How about a required psych examination? Or if you are on any psych drugs of any sort? Im sure there are records of that. Its an easy one if you are trans. No guns. You are mentally ill. I think anyone who has been prescribed psych drugs certainly would be disqualified. A psych test ot psych exam would be good. Might actually discourage people from buying a gun in the first place. That would be good.

There’s a Giant Flaw in Human History

Because it works.
But just because it works in certain cases doesn't mean it works in all cases. Like I said that same logic would mean because science works there when science says there no God or consciousness beyond brain it must be tru because science works.
That is what the evidence shows. Until the evidence shows something different that is the logical and objective position to take.
And we know as from the example I gave of how the orthodoc science narrative relegated Indigenous knowledge as primitive and superstitition when we later found it was more knowlegable than the current science.

So the scientific establishment, the power and authority used to relegate alternative ways of knowing is the problem. Its not always used honestly. Its the scientist not the science. Its those using science to beat down alternative ways by claiming its the only way over all others.
Nonsense. We know that humans delude themselves to protect themselves from unpleasant truths. I would argue it does not even need science to recognise that, though science can quantify and detail the process.
There you go, you literally prove my point in calling this nonsense. Under this logic you would claim that belief in God or in consciousness beyond brain is a delusion. Yet science cannot claim such a thing as it is completely unable to test this.

Science can measure and describe all that happens with belief or conscious experiences. All the brain activity, and physical processes. But it cannot say whether those beliefs or experiences are fantasies of a deeper knowledge.

Your assuming that because science cannot test this that it must be fanatasy or unreal.
Word salad. New Age mumbo-jumbo. That kind of sentence is exactly why your approach is rejected. It is vacuous.
Then science itself is New Age mumbo-jumbo. There are a number of ideas proposed by science, not religion, not mystics but science that question even objective reality.

A quantum experiment suggests there’s no such thing as objective reality

We can determine proper belief and unreal beliefs. Belief itself is part of the equation. This is an entire topic in itself.

The content and epistemology of phenomenal belief
See above for belief. I do not deny (and the hundreds of researchers into consciousness would not deny) that we do not yet have a firm grip on consciousness. If we did, we wouldn't need the research. Science only continues because there are unknowns. It is funded to shine a light on those unknowns because it works. If word salad, and New Age nonsense, and conspiracy theories, and "alternative thinking" worked, they would get funded too.
Thats my point. Science doesn't work when it comes to belief and consciousness but tries to claim it does. The two are not even in the scientific range of objective science to be able for science to measure. Yet those proclaiming science materialism will use this to claim a metaphysical truth and reality even in areas that they cannot possibly claim this.

Israel-Hamas Thread II

I wonder why you think it's not plausable that I condem both actions?
Well you certainly do not do it equally. I suppose i could go back to the threads where the Palestinians attacked Israel and see if you were as critical of them as you are with Israel. My guess is you weren't. And you most certainly are not in this thread.

Revelation 12 walk through

I will walk through Revelation 12, explaining the verses. Follow along with your bible reading each verse as I explain the meaning thereof.

Revelation 12:1-5 is a vision John saw of Jesus being born to the woman (Israel) and Satan's attempt to have Jesus killed as soon as he was born. Which historically happened when Herod ordered all the children under the age of 2 be killed.

Verse 5 is Jesus born and caught up to God and to God's throne. Destined to rule the nations with a rod of iron.

Revelation 12:6 jumps to the end times, when Israel, the woman, has returned to the land, but still in unbelief that Jesus is the messiah. And for 1260 days, Israel will be fed the Word of God - by the two witnesses, of Revelation 11:3, those 1260 days.
`
Revelation 12:7-9 after the 1260 days, there will be a war in the second heaven which Satan and his angels will be cast down to earth.

Revelation 12:10 the Jews at that time finally turn to Jesus and the gospel of salvation. Satan will have been accusing them of their unbelief for the 1260 days that the Jews will mistakenly think the Antichrist is their messiah

Revelation 12:11 the Jews will overcome all Satan's accusations by believing upon the blood of the Lamb as atonement for their sins. And the Jews will testify about Jesus and the gospel of salvation. Even though many will be killed for their testimony.

Revelation 12:12 because Satan has been cast down to earth with just a short time left to his power, them in heaven rejoice about his coming demise. But to them on earth, Satan's wrath at being cast down will be the third woe to the inhabiters of earth as said in Revelation 8:13.

Revelation 12:13 Satan will take his wrath out on Israel and begin to persecute Israel.

Revelation 12:14 The Jews in Judea will flee into the mountains when they see the abomination of desolation statue image set up and indwelt by Satan. There in the wilderness, the Jews will be protected for the remaining time/times/half time that Satan will have left.

Revelation 12:15 Satan will make attempts to destroy the Jews in their mountains sanctuary.

Revelation 12:16 But God will supernaturally thwart all attempts by Satan to persecute the Jews who had fled into the mountains.

Revelation 12:17 Satan, not able to get to the Jews in the mountains, will persecute the remaining Jews who did not flee to the mountains right away, as Jesus told them to do in Matthew 24:15-21. Those Jews who Satan will have access to persecute, Jesus will rescue when Jesus returns to Jerusalem in Zechariah 14.

We have to get rid of guns Riley if we want to stop gun violence. We have no idea who is a responsible gun owner and who isn't. One can be responsible for years and then suddenly kill. Then hes no longer a responsible gun owner. But it’s too late by then. The ONLY way to stop gun deaths is to outlaw guns. Period.

Democrat Appellate Judge overturns half billion dollar fine

The Trump University fraud and the Foundation fraud have all been legally taken care of.
Yup, and Trump was proven guilty in both cases. Just as he was proven guilty of fraud in civil court and criminal court for other offenses.

The NYS business fraud are completely and totally bogus. The only ones who don't believe those are bogus are probably only the left wing liberals.
Well, them...and everyone who viewed the evidence. You know, like the jury. The only ones who don't believe Trump was guilty of fraud haven't viewed the evidence.

It all comes down to the evidence.

But, for the sake of discussion. Let us assume that all of the progressive liberal attacks against President Trump are actually true. What does that say about Kamala Harris and the leadership of the Democratic Party which was roundly rejected by the vast majority of the voters in 31 states in the 2024 election?
Democrats are more often than not their own worst enemy. Democrats have been saying that for decades.

Democrat Appellate Judge overturns half billion dollar fine

Obviously it didn't matter much but that verdict may also taken away in appeals...
You can always hope, I suppose. I just wouldn't advise holding your breath.

however I dont think Trump nor America cares
Why should he? He managed to commit 34 felonies without having to be held accountable for it. Heck, a portion of the electorate rewarded him for it!! Why should he change his criminal ways?

Terrific. So while trans people commit this minuscule fraction of all the murders out there, they are your focus when it comes to thinking about murder.

This can only be because you have some sort of other axe to grind that doesn't relate to murders or gun violence at all.
Its not trans people, its mentally ill people and trans people are mentally ill. I think we all agree that mentally ill people should not have guns. Weve seen far too often what happens when they do.

How is "glory" different from "ego"?

He paid for it for the elect, but for billions of other people the price of God's plan which included the fall, is tremendous. It has casualties among animals who didn't even sin and bear no responsibility for it they suffer for it anyway. ALL of creation groans.....
and before it all, God weighed out the pros and cons of this plan, to let creation fall, and then redeem it... for praise for Himself and decided that people singing to Him was worth it?

That's a lot of suffering to just dismiss over some hymns sung by amateurs.
Nothing in Scripture says anything other than rebellious humans and fallen angels are going to be accountable for their sin.

There comes a new heavens and new earth; wherein dwells righteousness. There's no death, no sin and no ability to EVER be corrupted again!

AMEN! :sohappy:

The whole cosmos is going to be recreated incorruptible! Thus if God can raise my body to incorruption in the new earth; He can certainly raise my cat and my dog too! Nothing in Scripture says that individual animals won't be raised also. And I'll see all the pets maybe you ever had. Don't know if you'll be there; but THEY'LL be there!

A whole resurrected cosmos filled with light and life! "The heavens declare the glory of God and the earth shows forth His handiwork." The rocks even cry out! (So what's wrong with you?)

I'm excited. I'm looking forward to it. Come quickly Lord Jesus.

While it wouldn't be practical, if the government really wanted to, they could find out who many of the gun owners in the country are. When a gun is purchased from a licensed dealer, a Form 4473 is filled out, and the dealer has to keep that form on record until they go out of business. If or when the dealer goes out of business, those forms are sent to the National Tracing Center, where they are stored indefinitely. These records go back to 1968. While it would be extremely time-consuming and expensive, the government would be able to track down most people who legally purchased a gun from a gun dealer over the past 57 years.
Yes lets have a federal law banning gun ownership, get rid of the 2nd Ammendment and end this scourge once and for all. As we've seen in California if everyone had California laws we would have very few if any gun deaths. Its the only way. Since one child killed by a gun in one too many. We have to do this.

Another embarrassment - this time Trump is dead

I don’t care about mudslinging either. We are where we are. The Trump addiction will continue long after he is out office just like it did last time. Politics have turned into a national illness. Haters gonna hate. Because they find their identities in it. Seems like it’s all they have. It’s very sad on all sides.
While I can agree that Democrats tend to focus more on Trump than on their own ideas for governing, the flip side of that problem is there is a significant portion of the GOP out there that revere Trump so much, for whatever reason, that any legitimate criticism of the man is ignored, or simply labeled "left wing hate" and dismissed out of hand. And rest assured, there are legitimate criticisms. But MAGA will never listen. They are incapable of hearing even the slightest criticism of their fearless leader.

But, I will grant that Democrats would be much better off not focusing on Trump so much and putting forth their own better ideas for governing and moving the country forward. A large part of that is a lack of leadership at the top of the party. I don't know, maybe Gavin Newsom will provide that, maybe not. But the focus does need to be on showing the voters a viable alternative to the authoritarian vision that MAGA seems intent on moving this country toward.

-- A2SG, plenty of blame to go around here.....

We Don’t Need Gun Control, We Need To Classify Gender Dysphoria As A Mental Illness Again

By percentage transgenders are committing more mass shootings than the rest of the population.
No, they are not. What you are posting is a lie.

By percentage, 97% of mass shootings are by males, and 53% of those men are white. In contrast, transgenders are responsible for less than 1% if nass shootings.

Perhaps being a white cisgender male should be a mental illness.

Evolution conflict and division

However, I will say, that's a cool profile picture. I remember when the first odd world came out. The hayday of PlayStation.
I'm happy we agree there. PS1 and PS2 were my favorite consoles growing up, and I still find myself booting up Abe's Oddysee every few years or so.

But yeah, while I don't personally agree, I respect your stance. And it makes me kinda sad to see Christians sniping at each other over this, speaking as someone who's been struggling with that sort of thing.

As long as we agree that Jesus is the Christ, I don't think there should be that big of an issue.

Air Force to provide funeral honors to Ashli Babbitt

She was wrong but that doesn't necessarily mean she deserved to be killed..
Not many people deserve to die, but if you do remarkably stupid things when there are armed men between you and the people you are trying to get to in the very centrepiece of America's democratic process then we shouldn't be surprised at the outcome.

She wouldn't have acted on her own. There were many people who, by words and deeds, encouraged her and led her to the point where she was shot. They should all accept their part in her death. The only person who was doing the right thing was the guy who circumstances dictated that he pull the trigger.

Moral anarchy.

Benedict XVI was making an obtuse point and was tone deaf to the wider culture he was addressing. I would argue instead that what he calls "moral relativism" is simply a byproduct of deeper problems in the failure to address meaning or significance, ones which the Roman Catholic Church itself increasingly grapples with, as exemplified in the epistemology crises that happened with 19th century Manualism, where Rome itself bought into the logic of modernity.

The manualist tradition essentially said "Mother Church knows best. So just obey these rules or burn." It reduced the rich mystery of Christian moral reasoning into procedural frameworks while demanding institutional obedience. This flattened approach sidelined the Church's greatest asset: mystery itself. Voices like Tolkien and Chesterton, who could speak to genuine spiritual hunger, were treated as apologetic tools rather than serious theologians.

There's no compassion here for people in the modern world who find the Church to be hollow authoritarianism with pretty vestments, and whose turn toward the "subjective" is often a quest for depth, even if through a cracked lens. When you've already evacuated transcendent mystery into institutional procedures, you've made it much easier for people to see it as just another human construction.

Benedict spoke a lot about relativism, but rarely made the bolder claim of a risen Lord who calls all people into a life of meaning and purpose that can't be commodified. Instead of proclaiming the most radical, world-shattering reality Christianity offers, he got bogged down in cultural criticism.

Francis wisely backed away from that toxic rhetoric, understanding that leading with condemnation is pastorally counterproductive. His approach of accompaniment: walking with people and showing how the Gospel speaks to their search, returns to something much closer to early Christian evangelization, which was about encounter with the living Christ rather than submission to institutional authority.
