  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The Conjunction of Opposites

No, the Hebrew makes it pretty clear-

In the Hebrew -without blemish, complete, full, perfect, sincerely sound, without spot, undefiled,

It was only when iniquity was found in him that he ceased to be perfect -tamin in the Hebrew.
Jesus was clear that Satan was a liar and a murderer from the beginning, John 8:44
Satan is his own entity. He will be here sometime in the future to deceive the nations.
Where have you been? Not only a liar and murderer from the beginning, but a thief from day 1 of mankind, Mark 4:15
That's what the gospel armor is for -to be able to stand in "the evil day"
If your claim is Satan only in future activity that not scripturally accurate whatsoever
At this present time, we can resist the devil and he will flee. It's too bad you see this as a lie for some reason.
I believe Satan is not mankind. To those that see that there is a division or fleeing there

What that doesn't mean is that we are sinless and that the tempter no longer operates in our flesh, thereby defining us all

All have sin. Romans 3:9
Sin is of the devil, 1 John 3:8, Mark 4:15

These are still true ^^
Do you not really believe one can put God's will over their own? If so, you must believe Christ and the disciples/apostles are wasting their time telling us so.
God's will bound ALL to disobedience so that He may have mercy on all.

The spirits of disobedience are specified as exempt from either salvation or mercy
I don't know, but going by most of your posts it seems you're the one championing him to some degree when it comes to his power over someone.
Oh? What is that? Because I see fault in Satan not PEOPLE? You should know better
And according to this statement-

You are leaving out God/Christ/The Holy Spirit out of the equation within a Christian. That's who we are supposed to abode with.
There is no excuses available for the devil. Why are you providing them is a more accurate question.

Show me where Jesus preached salvation for DEVILS.
He has no power over a Christian who resists him. That's a fact.
Are you claiming you have no sin and your sin is NOT connected to the devil? Lets hear it.
Will we fall short at times? Of course
Yeah. So when you don't fall short you're sinless? Or do you have a ritual that makes you sinless? Or a belief that made you sinless.

All such claims would be basic lies.
but when one is maturing as a Christian it does get easier to be able to resist
No matter. We do not become sinless because the tempter is in operation regardless of our actions or lack thereof
and God will always give us a way out of temptations
Oh, you have temptations by the tempter do you? Welcome to the FACT
, that's another promise. We will never be perfect in the flesh but thankfully God is the heart knower. He knows who's sincere in their walk.
If you think that extends to the tempter think again

Christ is the enemy of sinners and satan/devils are sinners and THEY sin in everyone
Paul gives us a perfect example of what one must do-

Romans 12:2 "And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God."
Again, if you think this subject is just about you, you haven't even set foot on the wrestling match yet

6,000 Years?

We do agree that there was light before the sun and there was also an evening and a morning.
No, we do not, Yes, light before the sun. No, no evenings and mornings before the sun. You don't know what evening and morning mean, right?
A light source and a rotating earth is what you need to produce an evening and a morning
Oh, a light source. Sure, which one would that be? No sun yet... hmmm... Oh, it must be the one that you invented a few posts back, the one never mentioned in the Scripture you're so very Sola about.

Unlike our Lord's "Take, eat, this is My Body", which it simply a metaphor, No Big Deal, just a little memorial snacky once in awhile. But the "days" of Genesis, well that's different! That's means 6 by-cracky 24 hour human solar days down to the second! Never mind that Scripture says God's "days" are vastly different than ours, and there wasn't any sun to delimit solar "days", or any humans to make note of it, it's Absolutely Critical to believe that the Days of Creation were *precisely* like our modern human solar days, or God will probably condemn us to hell. Right?

Upside down and backward; that Good Old Time American Religion! -sigh-

Why are all these leading Democrats suddenly facing mortgage fraud charges? Trump's retribution guy at the Federal Housing Finance Agency

Because they committed mortgage fraud? . . .and "no one is above the law."
And they really did. At least we will see what real mortgage fraud is and is not...

Charlie Kirk Didn’t Shy Away From Who He Was. We Shouldn’t, Either

There's still Candace Owens, Ben Shapiro, Matt Walsh, Michael Knowles, Benny Johnson, Erika Kirk and others. Candace Owens who's just as good at debating, and has done a lot of the same kind of college debates, was a very close friend of and worked extensively with Charlie Kirk. They've all been saying that they'll all keep Charlie Kirk's legacy going full force.

And good luck to all who do so by repeating Charlie Kirk's own words. In my experience over the past few days — as a bystander because I knew better without having to have it confirmed — quoting him and his positions is the surest way to be accused of being insensitive to his death.

I don't imagine any of them, with the possible exception of Candace Owens, doesn't know better, too.

School Teachers, Nurses, Government Workers, CELEBRATING Charlie Kirk's murder

How exactly would "sanewashing" even apply to some of those ideas?

Questioning whether or not demographic-based hiring could have an impact on how well qualified the people in that profession end up being isn't an "insane" concern.
It is if the "demographic-based hiring program" still requires people to meet qualifications. Y'know, like the airline industry.
Nor is it "insane" to have some concerns about an ideology that lends itself to insular and non-assimilating behaviors.
It is insane to state that an entire religion encompassing over 2 billion believers is fundamentally incompatible with western civilization.
His statements about the concerns regarding Islam could've just as easily been said by a Sam Harris or Christopher Hitchens. In fact, I've heard Sam Harris (who's on the left) make even harsher critiques about Islam. (much to Ben Affleck's dismay apparently)
And they've been criticized for those stances, so I'm not sure what your point is.

Why are all these leading Democrats suddenly facing mortgage fraud charges? Trump's retribution guy at the Federal Housing Finance Agency

So let me understand this. The Director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency made what appears to be inaccurate claims regarding Cook.
And based on those claims alone, not any kind of investigation, Trump fires Cook.
You have to take into consideration that Trump tried to fire her before, but he was blocked because SCOTUS said, in this case, that he couldn't fire her without cause, so he had his underling find a cause. Turns out to be a bogus cause, but it's nevertheless "a" cause.

Some people will call this presidential overreach - me among them.

Elongated Skulls of Paracas, Peru Possible Origins Are Amazing

Possibly way before Columbus or the Vikings, the people of the Caucasus Mountains near the Black Sea made their way to the Americas (though South America not North). Amazing!!! My question now is, if these people did that 2000 to 3000 years ago did others possible do the same thing. So, the Americas may not have been settled only by the people coming through the Bering straits. Historians are going to have to really come up with some new theories now.

Trump says ‘we have to beat the hell’ out of ‘radical left lunatics’ after Kirk killing

No, you're putting words in my mouth. You guys have a predilection for arguing in bad faith.
I'm not putting words in your mouth. You're just missing my point, which was that, even if we give Trump the benefit of the doubt and interpret his words as charitably and as figuratively as possible, there's still a segment of his fanbase that won't interpret them that way. They'll see it as a call to literal physical violence.

Obama referred to DOJ for criminal charges

Why haven’t they had their passports confiscated? They’re fairly well regarded in multiple countries, definitely a flight risk.
Because when these alleged criminal activities were first reported by Fox News, there was no evidence at that time, and even two months later, no new information has been produced.

This is similar to the Benghazi investigation. At the end there will be nothing!

Did you know the Benghazi investigation lasted longer and cost more than the 9/11 investigation?

So Much Anger

Thanks for everyone for the replies, and prayers if you did.

I prayed and prayed for the pain and anger to go away. But during one prayer, I was asking God to make the anger and pain go away and put my heart at peace. I was telling God I was so mad at the shooter for what he did and I know it was wrong but I was hoping he gets the death penalty. About at that time I heard the words "what he DID" repeated in my head, and there was a strong emphasis on the word "did". And just like that all the anger was gone.

For some context, I've never had anything in my life where I was like that's definitely God, I haven't even had one that was maybe possibly God. But after this, I don't know.

I was able to mentally separate the person from the deed, I wasn't mad at the person, but the action. The sadness didn't go away, but the anger just vanished. As I lay there thinking and news story pops up on the TV that was showing all the childhood photos of the shooter. I started actually feeling bad for the kid. I'm not excusing the action at all, it's vile and heinous. But he was a good kid, had a good family, he just got radicalized in school and made a huge mistake that will more than likely cost him his life. It got me thinking about what Charlie would want done with his killer, and knowing how much Charlie loved everyone and valued life so much, I don't think he would want him killed. I honestly think Charlie would like to see him come back to God and go to heaven. And I pray that happens before he passes.
Amen! This is why the bible reminds us of how far we fell. So that we view others with love and understanding that they are deceived and although people can be hateful, evil minded and act out those concepts, no one is above being saved if people turn to Christ. Pray for the shooter to repent before its too late. 1 more person repenting, is 1 less evil source in the world.

Sabbatarianism

I was also raised under this religious tradition, but when a man studies the event for himself, it just doesn't add up. Although it is a necessary doctrine it seems, to justify the rejection of God's Sabbath, and the adoption of the Catholic sabbath, as there is no prophesy, no declaration, absolutely no teaching any where in the Bible, that lends itself to the change.

I understand what is actually written, in a different Light.
The issue seems to be how "they understood" these things
The Messiah was placed in the heart of the earth, just before Sundown on Passover Day, the 14th of Nissan.
The 1st day of unleavened bread as a 24 hour period was from the evening of the 14thy day until the evening of the 15th day of the calender month
He Himself said HE would be in the heart of the earth for 3 days and 3 nights. This would mean that HE would raise from the dead just before Sundown 3 days and 3 nights later.
How did they do this?
Or certainly that there is nothing in Scriptures which say this would or did not happen.

Since we know for sure that after sundown on the weekly Sabbath, Saturday, Mary went to the Grave, and in all eye witness accounts, He was already risen.
How are you counting days, how did they count days during the festivals?
So in your understanding, from the end of the 14th Day of Nisan, to the 16th day of Nisan, is 3 days and 3 nights. The Catholic tradition is that He was placed in the grave on the 14th day of Nisan, which was a Friday,
A friday according to a Roman day?
Actually Judaism counts days according to the sacrifices offered on those days. Which sacrifices go from morning to Evening.
A day according to temple or liturgical time: DAILY SACRIFICES (day by day)
Num 28:2 Command the children of Israel, and say unto them, My offering, and my bread for my sacrifices made by fire, for a sweet savour unto me, shall ye observe to offer unto me in their due season. {a sweet … : Heb. a savour of my rest }
3 And thou shalt say unto them, This is the offering made by fire which ye shall offer unto the LORD; two lambs of the first year without spot day by day, for a continual burnt offering. {day by day: Heb. in a day }
Nu 28:4 The one lamb shalt thou offer in the morning, and the other lamb shalt thou offer at even; {at even: Heb. between the two evenings }

one day the morning, the evening.....

Festal offerings one each day, each one on it's day.
Num 28:17 And in the fifteenth day of this month is the feast: seven days shall unleavened bread be eaten.
18 In the first day shall be an holy convocation; ye shall do no manner of servile work therein:
19 But ye shall offer a sacrifice made by fire for a burnt offering unto the LORD; two young bullocks, and one ram, and seven lambs of the first year: they shall be unto you without blemish:
23 Ye shall offer these beside the burnt offering in the morning, which is for a continual burnt offering.
24 After this manner ye shall offer daily, throughout the seven days, the meat of the sacrifice made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the LORD: it shall be offered beside the continual burnt offering, and his drink offering.

The days of the feasts were morn to evening day to day. A liturgical day.
Judaism actually considers the whole night of Passover to be an extension of the 14th day (15th by calendar date), because the sacrifice of the day were not to be left over until the morning.
This of course applies to all seven days of the feast as well.
Le 23:37 These are the feasts of the LORD, which ye shall proclaim to be holy convocations, to offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD, a burnt offering, and a meat offering, a sacrifice, and drink offerings, every thing upon his day:

If that was true, moonrise would be morning. If one has to redefine words to make an argument work, that's pretty good evidence that the argument is false.
I’m not sure of your education level, so don’t be offended by what I’m gonna say next. But you do realize that while we do get light from the moon, the actual light source of the moon is the sun.

What are we doing here?

I want to be clear on your position. You believe that everyone has to find out about God on his or her own, without the benefit of an ecclesiastical structure or Church. Is that correct?
#10

Scripture says we all have different spiritual gifts. How then do we share these gifts if we rely only on what God tells us and not what any other believer says.
What is the root of "spiritual gifts"? The Holy Spirits power through a person. It is literally God using that person and feeding them answers, wisdom, guidance, insight. So the root is still God, and like in my previous post #17 you can make sure its accurate.

What are we doing here?

You think we wouldn't need God if we just had enough knowledge?
I'm saying people wouldn't look to him as a teacher if he spoon fed us everything and made it super easy and apparent to understand. I mean, people don't even look to him now and accept man-made wisdom. A Shepherd is someone who guides, so why aren't people letting him guide in the most important area of their lives? Scripture.

Trump says ‘we have to beat the hell’ out of ‘radical left lunatics’ after Kirk killing

When you distort what someone is saying, you're arguing in bad faith. Not to mention setting up a strawman.

I argued he was not like us.

What is the point of your statement?
Trump is just a flawed flash in the pan human like the rest of us.

What are we doing here?

Right! And I literally just said yesterday to someone that I look at the bible like swiss cheese. He doesn't tell us everything, because even if he did, we wouldn't need him then! Our salvation is rooted in a relationship with God. Taking him out of the equation, ruins that relationship. The point of the Holy Spirit was to help guide. USE him then to guide you! This faith in man to constantly tell you what things mean over going to God and asking him for the answer is why the world is the way it is and why its getting worse and why there will be a tribulation period to begin with because if we all got answers from God, the body of Christ would be more whole and be more of a unified front against deception, false teachings and sin.

I want to be clear on your position. You believe that everyone has to find out about God on his or her own, without the benefit of an ecclesiastical structure or Church. Is that correct?

Scripture says we all have different spiritual gifts. How then do we share these gifts if we rely only on what God tells us and not what any other believer says.
Scripture also describes believers as a body of Christ each dependent on the other. How does that work if we each have to rely on what God tells us personally and not on what He has communicated to others?

Ted Cruz torches Tim Kaine for describing God-given rights as 'very, very troubling'

Not just a warrior, a warlord
Most historians would disagree.

How could he be the model for all of humanity if he has to be whitewashed through claiming he is a product of historical circumstance?
According to Islamic teachings, Muslims are to emulate Muhammad's character traits like honesty, compassion, and humility and his ethical principles. They don't have to whitewash Muhammad's actions as a warrior, because Muslims understand the historical context in which the Qur'an was written. They see his actions as a warrior to have been appropriate for situations Muslims faced in the 7th century and not as mandates for Muslims to follow in 2025.

The way he and his compatriots behaved is supposed to be the pinnacle of humanity. What they engaged in is meant to be the gold standard, so claiming thats just how things were historically doesn't wash.
It's important not to dismiss or ignore the historical context and circumstances surrounding the creation of any religious texts. Ignoring the intended audience, cultural norms, and historical events surrounding them will always lead to misinterpretation. I find it odd that someone with a Masters of Divinity like yourself would disregard the importance of historical context, knowing how crucial it is for accurate interpretation of religious texts.

Trump says ‘we have to beat the hell’ out of ‘radical left lunatics’ after Kirk killing

Stephen Miller...whispering his sweet nothings into Trump's ear:

Last Thursday morning, less than 24 hours after the shooting, Miller tweeted out a thesis statement. “There is an ideology that has steadily been growing in this country,” he wrote, “which hates everything that is good, righteous and beautiful and celebrates everything that is warped, twisted and depraved.” This ideology has “one unifying thread,” he added: “the insatiable thirst for destruction.”

“It is an ideology that leads, always, inevitably and willfully, to violence,” Miller went on. “The fate of millions depends on the defeat of this wicked ideology.”

Erika Kirk Delivers Powerful National Address, Says Movement Will Not Die

I suspect most of his critics on this forum only know what they've read and heard in their echo chambers about him and have no sense of who he really was or what he did
I point you to post #46. This goes both ways; though, again, regardless of who he "really" was, I cannot bring myself to have any regard for a person who is on record saying the hateful things that Charlie Kirk has said.
