  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Do you Agree with what Hillary says in this Video

Free clinics are generally funded by charities in our hometown. And if you're talking about the state-run health departments, they give out vaccines and condoms and not much else.
My husband came to America and went to a federal run health clinic in order to get medication and was only on a visa at the time (not a work visa and wasnt allowed to work). Granted that's not undocumented, but it's also not green card holder status either and he was given medical care and medication.

The Schumer Shutdown

The shutdown is merely exposing the difficult truth that no-one notices when the government is shut down.

If no-one even notices or cares that the government is shut down, how important can it really be?
It's been less than 24 hours, and plenty of people have noticed.
And by the way, even if "essential" services are kept open - does that mean that the government funds "non-essential" services?
Some services are deemed more essential than others. Just because a task can be put off for a few days or a few weeks does not mean that it isn't essential.

Israel is losing Americans (support)

Logically, more disdain for Israel has to happen if one believes that Israel will be attacked in the end times. Because if that prophecy is a true interpretation, then America is either too weak, or too anti-Israeli to help them any longer. The big question though is Trump helping facilitate the changing opinion of Americans on the Israel? After all Trump's unwavering support is enabling Netanyahu to be so bold.

War Secretary Hegseth orders rare, urgent meeting of hundreds of generals, admirals Sep 30 in Virginia

There's nothing to explain.

Another pro tip for you. Sometimes a question is just a simple hypothetical. Did you really think it needed a response?*

Bradskii: "Did you watch Trump's speech?"

Oi vey. We shouldn't have to live like this.

China Bought $12.6 Billion in U.S. Soybeans Last Year. Now, It’s $0.

Not necessarily. See my post about how the market stays in flux. I've watched local agriculture change all my life, and it will continue to change long after I'm gone. That's the nature of agriculture. The one thing that most farmers have learned the hard way is that you don't go into something where you don't have a market.

Agriculture has changed so much in the US that it's unreal. Florida and part of Georgia was once known as cattle country. Once saw in an old Sears & Roebuck catalog cattle whips billed as being in the Florida and Georgia pattern. Then there were the sheep shears I found growing up, and learned from my father that sheep were once a going thing locally. I know of where there were rice plantations where rice hasn't been grown for more than a century. We used to grow tobacco. Before that, sugarcane. I've seen local fields of canola. And, as I pointed out, locally I haven't seen soybeans, but farmers planted a lot of peanuts this year. At one point I thought cotton was finished locally, but then it came back. The same for corn. Now, this year, have seen less cotton and even less corn planted. It all changes.
Flux is one thing. But this is a recipe for decline across the industry. Net loss of customers, shrunken overall market for US ag, after it all shakes out.

Morality without Absolute Morality

The problem with claims of absolute morality is that we have to trust those who claim to have a source of absolute morality. I do not find any of them trustworthy.
This aligns with what I often say: those that think there is an objective morality believe that somehow it's theirs.

Yeah, I don't believe you.

Attorneys for Abrego Garcia filed an emergency motion Monday to reopen his immigration case in order to seek asylum, arguing that because Abrego Garcia was deported and then brought back to the U.S., he is now eligible to apply for asylum within one year of his last entry into the U.S.

Trump Calls For Ilhan Omar’s Removal From Congress

O see, telling the truth is now anti-Islamic propaganda. How convenient. In the website it provides where the religion says its okay to lie to infidels. Im not going to go through it. The website provides the information.
It's a garbage site. Common sense should tell you that a website that intentionally mocks Islam by calling itself "The Religion of Peace," isn't going to be truthful about what that religion teaches.

Why is it difficult for people to understand the importance of weekly Communion?

Some Churches still do agape meals, such as the Protestant Moravian Church. It’s not Holy Communion- but it’s sharing a sacred meal together?

This is a market that now appears to be lost. Of course people who want to continue farming will need to shift. But overall the market for US farmed goods has now declined. So any existing markets that farmers enter will just be more crowded and difficult.

Why is it difficult for people to understand the importance of weekly Communion?

One frustration I have had to cope with is being called to an Anglican Church when my life has included breaking bread with friends and alone.

Such a practice is not permitted.

As a household head it was normal practice for me.

It seems institutionalisation has not only migrated away from the family locus and taken this important sacrament with it, but even banned anyone else from remembering Jesus in this way.
This reminds me of the situation with the church I was attending during COVID-19. Because we could not meet as a single body of approximately 40, we divided into three house meetings, one of which met in my home. We continued to have communion weekly and all was going quite splendidly until another member chastised me severely for hosting an illegitimate church meeting. His rationale was that there was not an elder there to oversee the meeting. Ironically, the elders of the church disagreed with him.

Ethics of Proselytization

Matthew 10:16 (ESV)
16 “Behold, I am sending you out as sheep in the midst of wolves, so be wise as serpents and innocent as doves.

It is hard to judge the intent of the person's heart. Could be they are more interested in freindship, or it could be they just are trying to get you saved. If it is the opposite sex, it could be they are interested to find out if you are a Christian. That would be wise before asking someone out. Too shy to ask directly, but hopeful.

I was taught friendship evangelism and use that model all the time. I do not set out to do it in a disingenous way. I truly care about any person I attempt to friend and at some point hope to share, invite them to church etc. I will say that I think that everyone should evangelize at times to reach a large number of people. But there are some instance too where the quality of the relationship is important.

To me getting the card or tract is meaningful and caring. Even if that person was simply being nice to share the gospel, where is the harm? Be more worried about those wanting money, sex, adoration or other selfish reasons for initiating a relationship.

War Secretary Hegseth orders rare, urgent meeting of hundreds of generals, admirals Sep 30 in Virginia

You don't understand the factors involved. I have personally staffed military unit deployments...I know more questions to ask and situations that occur. It becomes a lot more expensive because it was a rushed call...they had to arrive within a week of notification, which negated many cost saving factors that could have occurred if they'd been given a couple of months warning.

Key assumptions (explicit & fixed)

  • 400 generals (each on their own aircraft), 800 assistants → 1,200 people total. This is a low estimate.
  • Origins: theater commands worldwide → average round-trip flight time ≈ 14 hours.
  • Per-hour aircraft operating cost (per general’s aircraft): Low = $10k/hr, Mid = $20k/hr, High = $35k/hr.
  • Assistants: average international last-minute travel $1,200 each.
  • Lodging: $300 / room / night in the Washington DC area, assume 2 nights for 1,200 rooms.
  • Local transfers: $250 / person.
  • Base support, security, hangars, handling, admin overhead: 15% of subtotal.
  • Rush/inefficiency multiplier (positioning, surge, extra tanker/standby costs, etc.): ×1.40.

Line-by-line math (per scenario)

Flights — generals (round trip 14 hr)

  • Low: $10,000/hr × 14 hr = $140,000 per general → 400 × $140,000 = $56,000,000
  • Mid: $20,000/hr × 14 hr = $280,000 per general → 400 × $280,000 = $112,000,000
  • High: $35,000/hr × 14 hr = $490,000 per general → 400 × $490,000 = $196,000,000
Assistants travel

  • 800 × $1,200 = $960,000
Lodging

  • 1,200 rooms × $300/night × 2 nights = $720,000
Ground transfers

  • 1,200 × $250 = $300,000
Subtotal (flights + assistants + lodging + ground)

  • Low subtotal = $56,000,000 + 960,000 + 720,000 + 300,000 = $57,980,000
  • Mid subtotal = $112,000,000 + 960,000 + 720,000 + 300,000 = $113,980,000
  • High subtotal = $196,000,000 + 960,000 + 720,000 + 300,000 = $197,980,000
Add 15% overhead (base support, security, hangars, admin)

  • Low → $57,980,000 × 1.15 = $66,677,000
  • Mid → $113,980,000 × 1.15 = $131,077,000
  • High → $197,980,000 × 1.15 = $227,677,000
Apply 1.40 rush/inefficiency multiplier

  • Low (final): $66,677,000 × 1.4 = $93,347,800≈ $93.3 million
  • Mid (final): $131,077,000 × 1.4 = $183,507,800≈ $183.5 million
  • High (final): $227,677,000 × 1.4 = $318,747,800≈ $318.7 million

Concise takeaway

  • Best single mid-range estimate:$184 million.
  • Plausible range given assumptions: ~$93 million (very optimistic) to ~$319 million (pessimistic).
  • Biggest cost driver: per-hour aircraft cost × long global flight hours (i.e., the choice of VIP/strategic lift and lack of consolidation).
  • Secondary drivers: rush/positioning inefficiencies, tanker/escort needs, and surge security/ground handling.
I don't know. Maybe you know more than ChatGPT and the experts it reviewed.

You have some evidence for this, or is it just you spewing hate?

The American public needed to hear about these changes. Recruitment and re-enlistment have been down for years, and the woke lunacy is part of the reason. So, specifically, young people possibly considering a military career especially needed to hear this. And it doesn't hurt that our enemies publicly heard it also. If a nobody like me knows how the wokeness has been deleterious from reading the news, I'm sure China knows a lot more.
That could have happened in a televised presidential address to the nation.

I don't know what figures you were pushing around, but I simply asked it how much it cost and it said defense experts and lawmakers estimate it was hundreds of thousands to millions.

Have you watched it? You think I it was a good idea to show the American people how badly the commander in chief can mangle so many ideas and spout so much absolute nonsense for so long in front of a captive audience?

Please tell me that you were embarrassed. I was embarrassed for him and I dislike the guy intensely.
