criminal justice reform

Judgements that go the plaintiffs way, are partially taken from pension funds?
Eeehhhh, that does not strike me as a good resolution. We need to get rid of qualified immunity as a concept and replace it with situational immunity. Basically an immunity for lawful actions and an exception process if there is something blatantly illegal or obviously against good governance.

No person can come to Christ by their own freewill !

You just dont understand, but its limited to the elect
This is what I love about God‘s word it dispels darkness and lies
1 John 2:1-3 (KJV)
1My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:
2And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.
3And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.

Is The king James version losing influence?

But, you must remember, the canon means nothing unless you’ve acquainted yourself with the Ethiopian, that is to say, Alexandrian, method of hermeneutics and their interpretation of these books, that is to say, what the Ethiopian Orthodox and Eritrean Orthodox think they actually mean .

The Ethiopians do not interpret 1 Enoch for example in a literal historical context, but as Christological prophecy based on Luke ch. 24 using the typological-allegorical approach favored by the catechtical school of Alexandria, for the Church of Ethiopia until the 20th century was part of the Coptic Orthodox Church of Alexandria and shares the same doctrine as the Coptic church, which by the way uses what is basically the Greek Orthodox canon, which has books the Ethiopians lack (the Ethiopian canon is not a superset of the other canons, contrary to popular belief) and lacks books like 1 Enoch, Jubilees that the Ethiopians have, but the two churches have never had an issue about this nor has it come up in internal Oriental Orthodox dialogues nor in OO-EO dialogue nor in OO-RC dialogue.

By the way the martyred Emperor Haile Selassie is responsible for convening the Council of Addis Ababa, which brought together the heads of the Ethiopian, Armenian, Syriac, Indian and Coptic churches and resulted in them adopting the name Oriental Orthodox so as to identify themselves in an ecumenical context. Like the Armenians, Romanians, Bulgarians, North Macedonians, Serbians, Montenegrins, Moldovans, Russians, Hungarians, Ukrainians, Croatians and Slovenians, the Ethiopians are among those Christian nations to have suffered both at the hands of Muslims and Communists.

What ever I will still continue read it.

Self-Proclaimed Fascist Raises $28K (and counting) on GiveSendGo After Claiming He Was Fired Over Political Beliefs in online Debate

That was a crazy episode of Surrounded, but nothing there surprised me. There are people on the far right that are now openly supporting fascism as they see it as a way to get the country back to 'good' old values. That said, I think Connor and those that think like him are not fully comprehending what they are endorsing, or if they do, they don't think it will hurt them.

Trump suggests he’ll release Jeffrey Epstein ‘client list’ if elected: ‘I’d have no problem with it’

She shouldn’t be, but she is. She is really serving Jeffrey Epstein’s sentence. After he committed suicide, there was no one else to prosecute ’cause there was no real information against anybody else and so they went after her and they sentenced her to the sentence that would have been appropriate for Epstein, but not at all appropriate for her, and so she’s appealing now and I hope the appeal will be granted. She deserves to be out.

Mr Dershowitz doesn't believe Epstein's cheif groomer of underage girls should be in prison?

How do we set aside the grace of God?

I have always said that we need to do them, to stay in the Spirit, because we love Jesus. So, if what is what you say then we have always been in agreement. It's so much easier to do them out of love, rather than out of fear. I know the opposite side will say they do not do them out of fear, but if they say they have to do them to be righteous, then they do them out of fear.
I'd put it this way. Man is obligated to be righteous, but with a righteousness that is defined and driven by love, a love that comes only as we draw near to God. Then our rigtheousness comes willingly. I like a quote of Basil of Caesarea, a 4th century bishop,

“If we turn away from evil out of fear of punishment, we are in the position of slaves. If we pursue the enticement of wages, . . . we resemble mercenaries. Finally if we obey for the sake of the good itself and out of love for him who commands . . . we are in the position of children.”

Actually in the USA, the KJV is widely available and easily affordable as it is sold in Dollar Tree stores. It is available in both Testaments and New Testament editions.

Also the Gideons exclusively distribute it after experimenting with other editions.

A couple questions about the Septuagint

I will add as well that Fr Stephen De Young often points out that one of the reasons we have not rejected the Masoretic text is that some words and phrases make more sense and are more clear in Hebrew than in Greek.

Also Psalm 1:12 has a more obvious Christological context in the MT than the LXX (usually I find the LXX has the better readings, for example Psalm 95:5 LXX, which is 96:5 in the MT-based translations … since we know already that the gods of the gentiles are idols, but that they are demons is an important point; of course both readings are correct in that the polytheists were worshipping idols of demons, either actual representations of demons or false concepts of God that were of demonic origin through deception*

*For example, Zoroastrian dualism (some people say Zoroastrianism is older than the Hebrew religion which is a derivative of it, based on the antiquity of the language in which their texts are written, but this is absurd, since the Zoroastrians themselves give Zarathustra (Zoroaster) a more recent date, around 500 BC if memory serves, and also one can compose a new text in an old language, for instance, the 1969 Novus Ordo Missae.

How do we set aside the grace of God?

I provided what it meant, the goal.

έλος
telos
tel'-os
From a primary word τέλλω tellō (to set out for a definite point or goal); properly the point aimed at as a limit, that is, (by implication) the conclusion of an act or state (termination [literally, figuratively or indefinitely], result [immediate, ultimate or prophetic], purpose); specifically an impost or levy (as paid): - + continual, custom, end (-ing), finally, uttermost. Compare G5411.

Its the same word used here

1 Peter 1: receiving the end of your faith—the salvation of your souls.

Does our faith really end or is it our goal.

Lets reconcile this with the rest of the Scripture

Heb 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

Just like we shouldn't believe that Jesus is allowing us to now worship other gods, vain His holy name, steal, lie or break the least of God's commandments, because this is what we have to look forward to with this definition according to Jesus

Mat 7:23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’

Paul never taught to end our faith nor to not keep God's commandments. He said keeping the commandments of God is what matters 1 Cor 7:19

Its why we need to be careful how we interpret Scripture 2 Peter 3:16
I tried to multiquote both you and Dan Perez so this message is for both of you. I will cite the appropriate scriptures to justify my position.

1 Timothy 6:3 If anyone teaches otherwise and does not consent to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which accords with godliness, 4 he is proud, knowing nothing, but is obsessed with disputes and arguments over words, from which come envy, strife, reviling, evil suspicions, 5 useless wranglings of men of corrupt minds and destitute of the truth, who suppose that godliness is a means of gain. From such withdraw yourself. NKJV

2 Timothy 2:14 Remind them of these things, charging them before the Lord not to strive about words to no profit, to the ruin of the hearers.
NKJV

Please do a private debate together. I say this because Paul warns us of arguing over words.

Of course Trump also promised to prioritize criminals. I suspect some of them imagined that their ordinary friends and relations who have lived here peacefully for years would be far down the list, and might be let off for good behavior in the end, anyway.

Aside from Stephen Miller, the true immigration policy of this administration remains unclear.

What is even more concerning is that, even among those with a clear vision regarding whom to deport, there appears to be no policy addressing what should happen afterward. Furthermore, in this forum, individuals who advocate for total deportation often avoid answering these questions and simply reiterate their stance by insisting on mass deportation.

Not sure if I am allowed to re-post a message, but here is what I posted in this tread in post #79.

-----------
I have consistently stated that I do not support President Trump’s immigration policy. However, I accept the outcome of the election, as it is evident that a significant portion of Americans elected him largely due to his stance on immigration. Recognizing this mandate, I support President Trump in implementing these policies, despite my personal reservations.

Understanding President Trump’s Immigration Policy and Its Impact

During his campaign, President Trump committed to deporting individuals who entered or remained in the United States without legal authorization. Supporters at the GOP convention demonstrated backing for this approach with signs advocating “mass deportation.”

Current Policy Assessment

Is mass deportation an official policy of the Trump administration? Advisors such as Stephen Miller, along with other proponents of stringent immigration enforcement, support the removal of all undocumented immigrants.

President Trump’s own statements have varied; he has, at times, indicated that only those convicted of serious crimes should face deportation, while at other moments he has called for broader actions, including mass deportations, though he occasionally refers to hardworking undocumented immigrants in positive terms.

Major donors to the administration also express differing views—while generally supporting strict immigration measures, some advocate for exceptions in sectors such as agriculture, restaurants, and meat processing.

There are diverse perspectives among supporters of the administration's immigration strategy. Some endorse the deportation of all individuals present without legal status, whereas others believe enforcement should focus on those involved in drug trafficking, human trafficking, or other serious offenses.

Practical Considerations

Presently, only approximately 0.59% of undocumented immigrants have been apprehended. At this pace, fewer than 6% are projected to be deported by the end of President Trump's term. It remains unclear whether the administration aims to remove only 5% to 7% of the undocumented population.

Economic Implications

Over four million undocumented immigrants are employed in the U.S. food industry, spanning roles in agriculture, meat processing, grocery stores, and restaurants. An additional one million work in construction. To date, there appears to be no comprehensive policy outlining how these positions would be filled, or how supply demands would be maintained, should these workers be removed.

While the Secretary of Agriculture has suggested technological solutions could replace agricultural labor, current advancements are limited to certain crops such as peanuts and corn; artificial intelligence technology capable of harvesting delicate produce like tomatoes or peaches is not expected for at least 15 years.

Thus, questions remain regarding potential plans or policies to substitute approximately ten million undocumented workers with American citizens. The removal of an estimated fifteen million individuals from the workforce would significantly impact both local and national economies. It is unclear what support mechanisms, if any, are planned for local economies dependent on immigrant labor, or how the national economy would adjust following such deportations.

Conclusion

Currently, there is no clear immigration policy. Even top officials cannot agree on who should be deported, how to define criminals, or the number of people to be deported in four years. Questions remain about who would replace these workers and the economic impact of removing 15 million people. The situation is chaotic: some advocate deporting all unauthorized residents, others only violent criminals, while critics call it a political show with no substantive solutions.

So, apparently The Church Is Israel

And are all true believers in Christ , Born. Again ?
Satan knows and believes Jesus lived on earth and made the sacrifice for the sins of humankind.
AND Jewish Israeli's know this too, but they reject Jesus and forfeit His salvation.

The idea of the Jews still being a chosen people, is utterly ridiculous and contrary to New Testament teachings.
What will God do with the apostate Jews? Isaiah 22:14 and Luke 19:27, make it crystal clear.

do you not realize that the very same man who made the statement above, shortly after helped start the Russian collusion fiasco saying the exact opposite.

Foreign adversaries
DID NOT
use cyberattacks
on election infrastructure
to alter the outcome of the election

Foreign adversaries
DID
use cyberattacks
on "U.S. persons and entities involved in the 2016 U.S. presidential election"
to "[steal] documents from those computers, and [stage] releases of the stolen documents to interfere with the 2016 U.S. presidential election."

These things are not exact opposites.

The Hispanic Vote

I am suggesting that he has told so many thousands of verifiable Lies during his first term, and adds to those Lies by the dozens with every speech he makes so I suppose that people whose natural inclination is to believe what they want to believe thought that maybe he was just lying about the numbers of immigrants, even some with papers, and all of the refugees with temporary protective status, who would get deported.
Is it not common for politicians in every election to make promises that are not always fulfilled once they are in office? Candidates often make assurances during their campaigns, but upon assuming office, they may not uphold these promises or may even take contrary actions. What distinguishes today from previous ones?

Anyone have good arguments against Calvinism.

-

Repentance is certainly not for receiving God's free gift of Eternal Life. God has stated receiving God's free gift of Eternal Life is by belief in Jesus.

So repentance is for a believer who is sinning, to reestablish a broken relationship with God their Father. That has been broken because of their sin. If they do not repent God may bring punishment and judgment upon the sinning believer even take their earthly life. Read all of Hebrews 10:26->

For we know Him who said, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord. And again, “The Lord will judge His people.” It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
There is an elect, this we know from scripture.
What we don’t know is who the elect actually are.
That is why scripture says to strive to make your calling and election sure. We do that by striving in good works, one of which is repentance.
Life is a spiritual battle, and we must continually fight. To look down on repentance and striving to make our election sure is to ignore the warnings of scripture and commit the sin of presumption. God does not owe us salvation and His elect are anything but presumptive
If we do presume our election and ignore the advice of scripture, how can we be sure that we are of the elect and not a member of the goats?

Jesus warns us to walk the narrow way and strive to enter by the straight gate. He does not give us license to wantonly disregard His teaching

We do not know that we are saved until we face the judgement and enter heaven. Until then, we are capable of being deceived

trumps ambasador calls canadians nasty.

You're talking about the 1% of course. What about the people who are losing Medicaid and SNAP benefits? What about the tens of thousands of federal employees who have lost their jobs? What about the people in Texas and other states who have suffered from natural disasters and have FEMA dragging their heels and refusing their claims. This happened in my home state recently and even the governor had a hard time eventually getting part of what the people were owed. What about immigrant families whose Breadwinners have been deported leaving them in the United States without an income or a father? What about all of us who are already facing some inflation and who will find paying our bills Out Of Reach when the tariffs start
sorry I meant Canada stronger :> I'm Canadian, were doing more trade with other countries, removing barriers to make interprovincial trade easier, The US is having a ton of trouble, but this is the kind of stuff should have been done in Canada ages ago.

Obama referred to DOJ for criminal charges

Paul Manafort admits he passed Trump campaign data to a suspected Russian asset.

Trump admits son met Russian for information on opponent

George Papadopoulos pleads guilty of lying to FBI agents about Russian interactions.

You can't get more colluding than that.
Well, there was the time that Russian lady contacted Donald Trump Jr. offering information against Clinton and he enthusiastically agreed. They set up a meeting at Trump Tower. Junior was disappointed that apparently, they didn't offer anything of value. Junior's brother-in-law suggested opening a secret back channel to the Kremlin. Nothing came of it, but it was not for wont of willingness from the campaign.

All that Daddy Trump is accusing others of seems to be the things he did himself.

How do we set aside the grace of God?

I didn't say we did. In fact, no rightouesness will come by mere observance of the law: 'By the law no one will be justifed', IOW (Rom 3:20). But that doesn't mean that we don't need to be righteous, with a righteousness that is apart from the law (Rom 3:21). IOW, we need a righteousness that doesn't even need to be heard (Rom 2:13) in order to live and practice and fulfill it, a righteousness that 'comes from God through and on the basis of faith' (Phil 3:9), from the inside as His Spirit dwells within us.

Well, we're approaching agreement here, then. Love is that righteousness, apart from the law, that fulfills the law by its nature. It opposes and overcomes sin (lawlessness). It would've inherently produced the obedience that Adam lacked in Eden. Faith is the doorway to that love as faith is the doorway to it's Source, to God.
In fact: "Anyone who does not love remains in death." 1 John 3:14
I have always said that we need to do them, to stay in the Spirit, because we love Jesus. So, if what is what you say then we have always been in agreement. It's so much easier to do them out of love, rather than out of fear. One instance was on Dec. 7, 2016, weeks after the election. Then-Director of National Intelligence James Clapper’s talking points stated: "Foreign adversaries did not use cyberattacks on election infrastructure to alter the U.S. presidential election outcome."
Fox News Digital obtained a declassified copy of the Presidential Daily Brief, which was prepared by the Department of Homeland Security, with reporting from the CIA, Defense Intelligence Agency, FBI, National Security Agency, Department of Homeland Security, State Department and open sources, for Obama, dated Dec. 8, 2016.
Yes, back in 2016 we had heard that the Russians poked around some voting systems but did not change anything. Why is this interesting now?

Substitutionary Atonement

The cross defeated death. Hebrews says that it was through death that Jesus destroyed him who had the power of death. The resurrection was the proof.
-
The cross did noting it was Jesus who did, which was through death. Meaning that Jesus died as the perfect sin offering. That through death Jesus was able to be resurrected. If Jesus had not died, Jesus could have not been resurrected.

But still knowing and believing all this about Jesus' death and resurrection. Does not matter, if a person does not believe in Jesus (the living Son of God) for God's free gift of Eternal life.

I am astonished everyday by how hard other nations try to be civil to the members of the Trump Administration. To a person, their behavior is usually so abominable and hateful that it is difficult to be in the same room with them. When I hear that Trump calls someone nasty I think that it must be a lovely person that I would enjoy getting to know.
pretty much just about every time trump complains about how he's treated, "they are an evil blight on the US and are trying to destroy it, but saying i'm a bad president is them being mean.
