Isaiah 63:1 Who is this; coming from Edom, from Bozrah with His garments stained red, moving in His mighty power? It is I; proclaiming victory, I who am strong to save.

Bozrah means ‘sheepfold’, and is used here as a metaphor for those nations where His sheep – every true Christian believer is at present. Matthew 15:24 The Lord, in His mighty power, proclaims victory and saves His people. This is His great Day of vengeance and wrath. Isaiah 34:1-8, Revelation 6:12-17
Isaiah 63:2-6 Why are Your clothes splattered with blood? I resolved on a Day of vengeance, I trod the nations in My anger and My clothes were stained. No one came to My assistance, by My own might, I brought victory. I shattered My enemies in My fury, their blood spilled on the ground.

Luke 20:43 & Acts 2:35 The Lord said to my Lord: sit at My right hand until I make your enemies your footstool. Psalm 110:1
Hebrews 10:12-13 Christ, having offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins, took His seat at God’s right hand and now waits until His enemies are made His footstool.

From these verses, it is made quite clear that Jesus does not Return in His glory until His enemies are ‘made His footstool’. That is they are punished and defeated. But it is ‘the Son of man’- that is: Jesus Himself who actually instigates this Day of vengeance. This accords with; Luke 3:16-17...the chaff He will burn on a unquenchable fire.
Psalm 18:7-15...He makes darkness His covering, hail and glowing coals go before Him.

But on that Day, He will be revealed to His people, all Christians who believe and trust in His salvation:
Zechariah 9:14-16 The Lord will appear over them, His weapon will flash like lightning – He will save His people. Ezekiel 20:9-11 & 36
Isaiah 60:1-3 Over you the glory of the Lord has dawned, though darkness covers the earth, on you the Lord shines and over you His Glory will appear.
2 Thessalonians 1:6-10....the Day the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven in blazing fire, punishing the godless peoples, He will reveal His glory among all believers.
Luke 17:29-30 On the day Sodom was destroyed, fire and Sulphur rained upon them and killed them all. It will be like that on the Day the Son of Man is revealed. Isaiah 24:23b

In Luke 4:18-19, At the commencement of His ministry, Jesus quoted only verse 1 and the first half of verse 2 of Isaiah 61:1-2. The second half is unfulfilled prophecy – ‘A Day of vengeance of our God and to comfort those who mourn’. Many other prophecies confirm that this Day of vengeance and wrath is the next action of the Lord on the earth and as the rest of Isaiah 61:3-11 state, it is also the time He will ‘ comfort those who mourn’. That is: people who grieve for Christ’s death and trust in Him for their salvation. Note that the Lord has blood stained clothes, then much later at His Return in glory, Revelation 19:13 He is ‘robed in garments dyed in blood’. This proves that the Day of vengeance is before His Return.

Isaiah 30:26 The sun will shine with 7 times its normal strength on the Day I save My people.
Habakkuk 3:12-13 Furiously You traverse the earth, in anger You trample down the nations. You go forth to save Your people, Your anointed ones. You shatter the house of the godless to its foundations.
Zechariah 10:5-6 Destruction of enemies, then restoration for the true believers of God.

2 Peter 3:12 & 14 Look forward to the coming Day of the Lord and work to hasten it on, for that Day will set the heavens ablaze and melt the elements with fervent heat. In expectation of all this, my friends, do your utmost to be found at peace with Him, unblemished and above reproach. Ref. REB. some verses abridged.
Verse 13 refers to the New heaven and earth, to come at the end of the Millennium, Revelation 21:1, but before that, more than 40 other prophecies categorically state how His people will gather and settle in the new country of Beulah.

Thanks Truthfrees, much better!

Zechariah 9:14-15 The Lord will appear over His people and His weapon of judgement will flash like lightning. His war shofar will make a great sound, accompanied by a terrible whirlwind. The Lord will protect His people and they will exult in His deliverance.
Zechariah 10:1-12 For now, your false gods and idols give empty promises, dreams and delusions. So My people are left to wander about, like sheep and distressed for the lack of a proper shepherd.

The Lord’s anger burns against the leaders of His people, they will fall on the Day of His wrath.
For the Lord will care for His flock, He will strengthen the House of Judah and save the House of Joseph. From Judah will come the leaders that will be My battleaxe and they will rout the enemy, because I am with them. The warriors of Ephraim will exult and rejoice in the Lord’s victory and in their deliverance. The families of the Lord’s people will see and be glad with what the Lord has done.

The pride of the nations will be brought low, but Israel’s strength will be in the Lord, they will march proudly in His Name.
He will whistle and call them in. His redeemed people, though now in far off lands, they will answer the call. They will return to their heritage, bringing their children with them. The Lord will bring them home from every nation around the world and He will lead them into Gilead and Lebanon until there is no more room for them all. They will pass through rivers that will dry up for them to cross.

The Lord will give rain in due season, grass in the fields and fruit abundantly. On the Day the Lord takes action, He will save His flock. For they are like precious gems in His crown, they will sparkle all over His Land. What wealth is theirs! What beauty! Good food and drink will give health and strength to the young men and women. Ref: REB, CJB.

This prophecy reiterates the great promise of God to His righteous people, whether they are true descendants of Jacob or grafted in Christians. The Lord will protect them on His great Day of judgement and punishment of the nations, as He brings down the pride of His enemies, but the strength of all true believers is in the Lord. He will appear to them and lead them into the Holy Land. 2 Thess. 1:10 This is not the Return in glory, to come later.

All of that area given so long ago to Abraham, will be burnt, devastated and depopulated by the Lord’s Day of wrath – lightning flashes, great noise, earthquakes and powerful storms - as described here and in other prophesies as a coronal mass ejection, explosion of the sun, that will affect all of the world, but primarily the Middle east region. Zephaniah 2:4, Ezekiel 30:1-5

Ezekiel 36:8 But you mountains of Israel, put forth your branches and bear fruit, for the homecoming of My people is near.
This and many other prophesies say how the Lord will send rain and the holy Land will quickly regenerate into a Land of plenty and prosperity, ready for the great emigration of all the Lord’s Christian people. Psalms 107 They will live there as the rest of the end time prophesies unfold and it is them who say: Blessed is He who comes in the Name of the Lord!

Be ready for the whistle!

Psalm 2:8 & Psalm 110:5-6 I, [God] give You [Jesus] the nations as Your domain, the earth to its furthest ends as Your possession. The Lord at Your right hand, [Jesus] will crush the rulers of the whole earth on the Day of His wrath. In glorious majesty He will judge the nations, breaking them with His rod of iron, shattering them like a clay pot, heaping up the dead around the world. Habakkuk 3:12, 2 Peter 3:7, Jeremiah 9:22

This terrible, worldwide judgement/punishment has not happened, as yet. Now we are in the end times and as we approach the time of Jesus’ Return, many prophesied things must take place. Even now, there is a push toward a New World Order, a global government, but to enable this to be set up, there has to be some kind of disaster, a dramatic change in our current situation, that will induce the nations to give up their sovereignty. What it is that the Lord will use to carry out this sudden and shocking event, has to be something that can be looked upon as a natural disaster, so most survivors can continue in their disbelief of a Creator and give their allegiance to the dictator of this world government. Many prophecies tell us of this forthcoming judgement of the nations, a global disaster of Noahic proportions, this time of fire, earthquakes and storm winds. Deut. 32:22 & 34-35, Isaiah 66:15-16, Rev. 6:12-17

Haggai 2:6…In a little while from now, I shall shake the heavens and the earth
“In a little while”, 1000 years equals 1 day to the Lord, so nearly 3 days? Isaiah 42:14-15
Some scriptures of what will happen on that Day:

In Israel [Judah, the Jewish people] –
Zephaniah 1:4-18 I shall stretch out My hand over Judah, over all that live in Jerusalem. On the Day of the Lord’s sacrifice, I shall wipe out all traces of idol worship I will punish all those complacent people. All who commit crimes of violence and fraud will fall with a great crash. The great Day of the Lord is near and coming fast - His Day of wrath and distress onto the peoples. Their blood and guts will pour out like dung upon the ground and nothing can save them from the fire of His judgement. He will make a sudden and terrible end to all who live in the holy Land. Isaiah 22:14, Jeremiah 25:30-33, Deut. 32:41-43, Matthew 21:41-43

In other Middle Eastern countries:
Ezekiel 30:2-5 Wail! Alas for the Day, the Day of the Lord is near. A Day of reckoning for the nations. A Day of disaster for Egypt; they will fall by the sword of the Lord’s slaughter. All the Arab nations, the Africans, Libyans and peoples of that area will be killed along with Egypt. Zephaniah 2:12, Isaiah 29:8-12, Amos 1:2-15

In Edom, a metaphor for all the Gentile peoples. Bozrah, means – glad tidings in Hebrew, but is also the name given to a sheepfold, so it refers to the places where the Israelites currently live in exile.
Isaiah 34:5-8 The sword of the Lord will appear in the sky and descend in judgement upon Edom, onto a people doomed for destruction. His sword is sated with blood, for on His Day of vengeance, the Lord has a sacrifice in Bozrah and a slaughter in Edom. Isaiah 63:1-6, Ezekiel 35:1-15, Jeremiah 49:1-39
Bible refs: REB, NIV, CJB. Some verses abridged.

This terrible disaster that will strike the earth, is something that has happened in the past. What caused the sudden extinction of many species and triggered an ice age was a celestial disturbance of a comet’s close encounter, a coronal mass ejection or what seems most likely; a combination of both. This will be ‘the Rod of Iron’ and our earth will not be the same again.

Acts 2:19 I will show wonders in the sky above and signs on the earth: blood, fire and smoke
Isaiah 41:13-14 But Jacob, [the Lord’s righteous people] have no fear, for I am with you, your Redeemer is the holy One of Israel.
Isaiah 30:15…In calm detachment lies your safety, your strength in quiet trust.

We who trust the Lord and keep His commandments have the promises of His protection on the Day and then the great prophecies of gathering and settling into all of the holy Land will come to pass. Isaiah 51:6, Zechariah 9:14-18
