  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

On the Communion Service, Lord's Supper

No, Paul didn't get it wrong, but I think you make an erroneous assumption that churches celebrating communion on Sunday are proclaiming His resurrection, not death. I can't say about all of them since I have not done a wide study, but here are some examples from my Episcopal Church Eucharistic Prayers:

Eucharistic Prayer A:
Christ has died.
Christ is risen.
Christ will come again.

We celebrate the memorial of our redemption, O Father, in
this sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving. Recalling his death,
resurrection, and ascension, we offer you these gifts.

Eucharistic Prayer B:
We remember his death/ We proclaim his resurrection/ We await his coming in glory” (BCP, p. 368).

Eucharistic Prayer D:
Father, we now celebrate this memorial of our redemption. Recalling Christ’s death and his descent among the dead, proclaiming his resurrection and ascension to your right hand, awaiting his coming in glory; and offering to you, from the gifts you have given us, this bread and this cup, we praise you and we bless you.

I think another interesting question, then, is what is being commemorated when we celebrate communion on a Wednesday, a Tuesday, or any other day of the week?
Yup. Same with the Catholic Church, especially during the memorial acclamation.

We proclaim your Death, O Lord, and profess your Resurrection, until you come again

When we eat this Bread and drink this Cup, we proclaim your Death, O Lord, until you come again
Save us, Savior of the world, for by your Cross and Resurrection, you have set us free

What is Theology -

Simple definition - seems people talk about just anything but Theology -

So let's define Theology in it's simplest terms.
  1. The Greek word Theologia was first used by Pagans according to its literal meaning of “Discourse On God.”
  2. The Greek Christians applied the title of Theologian as an honorific to St. John the Beloved Disciple, who had direct experiential knowledge of God and who discoursed on it, and then later applied this title to St. Gregory Nazianzus because of the importance of his writings to fourth century Christianity in terms of providing a rational analysis and experiential knowledge in defense of the doctrines of the Incarnation, the deity and personhood of the Holy Spirit and the Holy Trinity. Later the Hesychast St. Symeon was venerated as The New Theologian.
  3. St. Evagrius said 'The theologian is the one who prays truly, and the one who prays truly is a theologian'. Thus in a sense being a theologian is like being a sacerdos or hierus, in that just as every member of the Christian Church is royal and hieratic, every member of the Christian Church by virtue of praying truly is a theologian.

This is a good question my brother. Since the word theologian depends on the Greek word theology, I believe that the answer to this comes from the ancient Christian East. Ex Oriente Lux, as they say in the West.

Thus, Eastern Orthodox, Oriental Orthodox and Assyrian scholars of theology, a term I prefer for what people in the West would tend to call a theologian, thus insist that even an infant or a mentally disabled person can be a theologian.

Refugees' Human Rights Crisis in Panama

The reason why they cannot easily be repatriated is that they are from Afghanistan. China. Refugees with temporary legal status. Not criminals.
One committed suicide. One broke his legs trying to escape. They are locked in a hotel.
An Afghan woman stands at the window with a sign indicating she will be beheaded if returned.
Are you embarrassed to be an American yet?
These people were escaping death. Torture.
It's easier to say "not easily repatriated" than "sending them to their deaths."
America has lost its soul.

Mike Johnson: Biden opened border as ‘power-play’ for ‘future voters’

Seems to be an ongoing effort now.

And everything is about future voters in politics. Everything.

JD Vance rebukes anti-free speech, anti-Christian discrimination in Munich speech

Nope, and frankly they should have been banned in 2020 when they decided to implement racist editorial policies.
Ah yes the worthy and unworthy press: worthy if you always praise the Musk administration whatever it does.

Independent Baptists?

I appreciate your question. I'll give you a few of Scofield's teachings to which I'm referring and be as consice as I can be.

It is heresy to teach more than one gospel. Scofield taught that there are four gospels.

It is heresy to teach salvation by anything other that by God's grace through faith. Scofield taught that salvation was by works, and will be by faith plus works.

It is also heresy to teach that God has more than one people. Scofield taught that God has two distinct plans for two distinct people headed to two distinct destinations: Jews (Plan A) and Gentiles (Plan B). The Bible clearly teaches that God has one plan, one people, and one destination for His people.

Scofield taught the heresy that animal blood sacrifices will again be ushered in and offered for the remission/atonement of sins. The Bible clearly teaches that Jesus paid it all - tetelestai. "[W]e are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all." Hebrews 10:10.

God bless.
Ad that verse is found in Gal 1:8 , But even if and angel from out of n heaven should be preaching the gospel to you

contrary to what we preached to you , let him be ACCURSED !!

What was that GOSPEL is in Rom 1:1 , Paul a slave of Christ Jesus , a called APOSTLE Having been SEPARATED // APORIZO

and this Greek word APHORIZO , that means that their are BOUNDRIES , and Paul is LIMITED to only preach GOD'S GOSPEL

PERIOD !!

And there is the Gospel of the KINGDOM in MATTHEW

The Everlasting GOSPEL in Rev 14:6

Non Christian morality

I think what I'm really talking about here is not human morality, but God's morality.
He can condemn to hell those of different religions, he can command the slaughter of women and babies.
He can drown a whole planet, killing animals, as well as children and babies in the process...
Yet, this can't be criticised if everything God does is good by default. He is an angry, jealous God.. and declared that about himself.
If I did all that I'd be a monster..
Your God sounds deeply flawed to me..

Make a joyful noise

I wanted to leave on a positive note. I have peace and joy in my heart. Choose peace instead of political and religious division. All we need is to follow the words of Jesus and his apostles. Rejoice always as Paul said. Be thankful and don't complain or fight over worldly things because God is our supplier and not man.

The Lord taught me himself and so man's theological division is unnecessary. I seek peace not conflict. Jesus commandments are the way. Instead of the clamor of division found in politicical and religious strife, lets make a joyful noise to the Lord. Thats our purpose. God bless you folks.

Three buses in a parking lot reportedly exploded in Israel Thursday night in what appears to have been a terrorist attack. No one was injured. Several other bombs were reportedly discovered on other buses, according to TPS-IL, an Israeli news agency.

Firefighters arrived on the scene and put out the fires. The buses were empty at the time and no one was wounded.

Senate confirms Kash Patel as FBI director

The Trump loyalist is taking over a bureau in turmoil over firings and an effort to gather names of people who worked on Jan. 6 Capitol riot investigations.

WASHINGTON — Kash Patel, a longtime loyalist to President Donald Trump, was confirmed by the Senate on Thursday as director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation — an agency he has talked about drastically restructuring while echoing Trump’s claims of the “weaponization” of the bureau’s powers in its Capitol riot investigations and other recent cases.

Kentucky bishops back bill to allow ‘alternative sentencing’ for criminals with children

The Catholic bishops of Kentucky are backing proposed legislation that would require a court to consider alternative sentencing for convicted criminals who have young children.

The measure states that Kentucky wishes to “promote, strengthen, and encourage family life for the protection and care of children” and “maintain the family unit with an emphasis on the parent-child relationship.”

Parental incarceration is classified as an “adverse childhood experience,” the bill notes, which can lead to poor mental and physical health outcomes and increase a child’s chances of criminal activity in turn.

The bill would require courts to consider a convicted criminal’s “status as a primary caretaker of a dependent child” before imposing a sentence. A court would be required to “consider an alternative sentence” in such circumstances while weighing the parent’s criminal history, the seriousness of the crime, and other factors.

Jesus Christ Values Women

Is a deacon a teacher? I know Paul said that women should teach other women but not men it seems. It doesn't matter to me though. My church is at home in my heart. There is no debatable questions.
A deacon, from what we see in scripture, is a "designated servant" of the congregation. The actual role may be varied, but essentially it's someone not an elder but holding an administrative role that could in some situations also be directive in nature.

Yes, I also understand that Paul's real instruction was that men should be discipled to men, women should be discipled to women. If we reflect on how authoritative and even how intimate the master-disciple relationship was in that day, we can understand Paul's wisdom.

Paul identifies Phoebe as a deacon. She appears to have been the head of the delegation that carried Paul's letter to the Romans...and we can presume that there were men in that delegation, because a single woman or a group of women would not have been traveling alone. Paul further instructed the congregation at Rome to support Phoebe in her further "business" while at Rome.
