  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

‘Ozempic Personality’: What to Know About Weight Loss and Mood Changes

I was on Ozempic 1.0 dosage for 6 months and notice my weight went down to 150 pounds. It definitely made me feel angry and anxious especially when my dosage was at 2.0. I ended up in the hospital throwing up and hiccups that wouldn't go away for four days. Finally got off the drug and feel better as I looked pale like a ghost and wasn't eating food. Had went from 200 pounds to 149 pounds which was great though I looked super skinny and tires.

Pope asks St. John Paul II institute to study threats to marriage, family

The Catholic Church must respond to cultural challenges facing marriage and family life with unity and compassion, Pope Francis said, and he called for a deeper integration of the Gospel into contemporary culture.

“The challenges, problems and hopes that pertain to marriage and the family today are inscribed in the relationship between church and culture,” he told students, professors and staff of the John Paul II Pontifical Theological Institute for Marriage and Family Sciences.

Pope Francis referred to St. Paul VI’s affirmation that the “rupture between the Gospel and culture is the tragedy of our age,” and he noted that St. John Paul II and Pope Benedict XVI deepened the question of inculturation in the church by “focusing on the issues of interculturality and globalization.”

"Pope asks St. John Paul II institute to study threats to marriage, family?"

He could save everyone a lot of time if he would look into a mirror and consider his personal part in the advance of anti-family modernism.

Elon Musks journey to Christian belief

Who knows if where he'll end up with this, I do appreciate that despite the fact he runs a scientifically cutting edge company that he still respects Christianity. Or at least he seems to.

That said he also makes comments like his goal is to have his consciousness simultaneously in two places (Earth and Mars), and things like that. So I think his actual beliefs are much closer to something like transcendence and singularity than Christianity. But things can always change.

Trump Picks Threatened

Karoline Leavitt, a spokeswoman for Trump's transition team, said the Trump appointees “were targeted in violent, unAmerican threats to their lives and those who live with them”.
She said that several people had been targeted and "law enforcement acted quickly to ensure" their safety.
"With President Trump as our example, dangerous acts of intimidation and violence will not deter us,” she said.
Neither Leavitt nor the FBI identified any of the targets by name.
...Similar hoax tactics have been recently used against other high-profile political figures, including against the judges and prosecutors who oversaw the criminal cases against Trump.

This is a terrible precedent. I hope it's just a fad that will fade soon. Those who do this should be promptly caught and made examples of.
It received little publicity but Homan was threatened. He is staying at home but moved his wife to a safer location.

O Lord, you have DECEIVED me

God commissioned Jeremiah in 1:

18 "I, behold, I make you this day a fortified city, an iron pillar, and bronze walls, against the whole land, against the kings of Judah, its officials, its priests, and the people of the land. 19 They will fight against you, but they shall not prevail against you, for I am with you, declares the Lord, to deliver you.”
God warned him of the coming struggle between the kings of Judah and him. They would challenge him.

God promised Jeremiah in 15:

11 “Surely I will deliver you for a good purpose; surely I will intercede with your enemy in your time of trouble, in your time of distress."
Pashhur persecuted Jeremiah in 20:

1 Now Pashhur the priest, the son of Immer, who was chief officer in the house of the Lord, heard Jeremiah prophesying these things. 2 Then Pashhur beat Jeremiah the prophet, and put him in the stocks that were in the upper Benjamin Gate of the house of the Lord.
Jeremiah suffered violence. This was the first recorded act of violence against him. Then God interceded as promised:

3 The next day, when Pashhur released Jeremiah from the stocks, Jeremiah said to him, “The Lord does not call your name Pashhur, but Terror on Every Side. 4 For thus says the Lord: Behold, I will make you a terror to yourself and to all your friends.
Jeremiah pronounced judgment on Pashhur after he released him. However, Jeremiah continued to feel the turmoil. He complained to God:

7 O Lord, you have deceived me, and I was deceived;
He expressed anguish and frustration. He felt that God had deceived him. It wasn't a propositional assertion.

Did God deceive Jeremiah?

No, God didn't promise him that there would be no violence against him. On the contrary, right from the beginning, God warned him that his enemies would fight against him. Jeremiah's expectations were a bit off. Nevertheless, he resigned to God:

you are stronger than I, and you have prevailed. I have become a laughingstock all the day; everyone mocks me.
He continued to disclose his inner fears:

10 For I have heard the whispering of many: “Terror is on every side! Report him; let us report him!”
He feared conspiracy against him.

All my trusted friends watch for my fall:
He feared that he couldn't even trust his friends.

“Perhaps he will be deceived so that we may prevail against him and take our vengeance upon him.”
His enemies used the word 'deceived' against him before. Then they beat him up. He complained to God in v 7 using the same word that his enemies used.

11 But the LORD is with me like a fearsome warrior. Therefore, my persecutors will stumble and will not prevail.
He hanged on God's promise. But his feelings flip-flopped:

14 Cursed be the day I was born! May the day my mother bore me never be blessed.
He questioned why he was born at all.

18 Why did I come out of the womb to see only trouble and sorrow, and to end my days in shame?
Did God deceive Jeremiah?

No, but he felt like God did. Jeremiah 20 contained an emotional response to his suffering from physical violence for the first time. He was overwhelmed by emotions, flip-flopping between highs and lows. He was not being balanced.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken Visits Vatican to Discuss Middle East and Ukraine With Pope Francis

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken met with Pope Francis on Wednesday morning at the Vatican.

While the Holy See did not comment on the nature of the audience, the State Department said discussions focused on ongoing conflicts in the Middle East and Ukraine amid a broader European diplomatic tour.

During the Vatican meeting on Nov. 27, Blinken reportedly referenced “wonderful memories’” of his previous encounter with Pope Francis in June 2021, highlighting the ongoing dialogue between the Holy See and Washington on matters of shared concern.

SALVATION

The RCC and ACC (American Catholic Churches) have their unique interpretations of doctrine/dogma just as do Protestants. That's religion!
So as previously posted we can agree to disagree without ill will.

Perhaps you have accomplished your objective in getting a few Protestants to believe that one's SALVATION is less complicated via say Roman Catholic sacraments than via the disunity that exists among so many Protestant denominations.

True SALVATION is not so much a Christian religion/denomination as it is one's intimate relationship with the Father by Way of Christ Jesus as one's Lord and Savior; whether Jesuit or Lutheran or Messianic or .... .

If I speak with the eloquence of men and of angels, but have no love, I become no more than blaring brass or crashing cymbal. If I have the gift of foretelling the future and hold in my mind not only all human knowledge but the very secrets of God, and if I also have that absolute faith which can move mountains, but have no love, I amount to nothing at all. If I dispose of all that I possess, yes, even if I give my own body to be burned, but have no love, I achieve precisely nothing.

Blessings to You and Yours with Joy, Peace and Love during the Holidays, New Year and Eternally

‘A Miracle’: Brandon Lake Shares Testimony Behind Hit Song

Christian artist Brandon Lake is sharing a powerful part of his testimony as he reflects on the meaning behind his 2023 song “Miracle Child.”

“My parents had six miscarriages,” he said during an interview with The JOY FM. “They had three before me [and] got to the point before me [where] they were like, ‘Alright, you should probably stop trying.’ But my mom, she’s like, ‘I know God promised me I’m going to be a mama. It’s who He made me to be.’ Then I came along, and then they had a few more between my brother and my sister.”

He decided to tell that story in “Miracle Child.”

“I just walked in the studio one day and was like, ‘That’s a powerful part of my testimony I’ve never actually ever shared,” Lake explained. “The fact that I’m alive is a miracle, but I wanted it to be broad enough that other people could find themselves in this story. There’s some lines that kind of hint to my story, like, I shouldn’t be alive, defied every diagnosis kind of thing. I had some crazy things happen when I was young. I got a really rare disease, and I’ve actually never told anyone that, either. It was a super weird thing, and luckily, it wasn’t very long. I was healed of it, but yeah, just different things, but spiritually, obviously, I shouldn’t be alive. I don’t deserve grace, but God’s that good.”

He called it “a testimony song,” adding, “I hope it blesses a lot of people, specifically moms that are struggling, but anybody that could identify [with it], or maybe it helps them realize that we’re all miracles.”
The singer-songwriter has previously spoken about the story behind “Miracle Child,” telling Air 1, “I’m thankful my mom trusted God and persevered, because of that I am alive. My parents experienced six miscarriages, and that’s why I can say confidently today that I am a ‘miracle child.’”

“I wrote this song from that place,” he continued. “I pray it gives you faith to know that nothing is impossible for God.”

Lake’s latest project is single “Hard Fought Hallelujah,” which was released earlier this year.

“We’re counting down the days to thanksgiving with a week of…. GRATITUDE!!” he posted on Instagram. “Today I wanted to honor YOU. THANK YOU for allowing these songs into your lives, coming to these shows, sharing your stories with me — supporting this ministry!! You have changed my life. Worshiping with you is a gift.”

Did you know Wednesday is yet another transgender holiday? Check it out.

The other very interesting correlation is transgenderism and autism spectrum (3-6x greater)
That makes sense to me, since autism spectrum tends to lead to bodily discomfort in reaction to sensory stimuli. If you’re suffering from bodily discomfort in relation to the world and people already, trying to change your body to try and relieve that discomfort would be easier for them to arrive at.

David was anointed 3 times to be king

  1. Samuel anointed the young (probably teenage) David in 1 Samuel 16:
12b the LORD said, “Arise, anoint him, for this is he.” 13a Then Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the midst of his brothers. And the Spirit of the LORD rushed upon David from that day forward.
2. Some 12 years later, the Philistines killed Saul. The men of Judah anointed David in 2 Samuel 2:

3 David brought up his men who were with him, everyone with his household, and they lived in the towns of Hebron. 4 The men of Judah came, and there they anointed David king over the house of Judah.
Who specifically actually did the anointing?

It was probably a local leader of Judah at Hebron. Similarly, some centuries later, the people of Judah anointed Jehoahaz (2K 23:30).

3. Two years later, the other tribes anointed David in 2 Samuel 5:

3 So all the elders of Israel came to the king at Hebron, and King David made a covenant with them at Hebron before the LORD, and they anointed David king over Israel.

Was David afraid of Joab?

David confessed in 2 Samuel 3:

39 "today, though I am the anointed king, I am weak, and these sons of Zeruiah are too strong for me. May the LORD repay the evildoer according to his evil deeds!"
Was David afraid of the sons of Zeruiah?

No, I don't think so. It was a moment of feeling weakness, David lamented his current situation of being weak. There is no mention of fear. In fact, just a bit earlier, David ordered Joab:

31 Then David said to Joab and all the people with him, “Tear your clothes and put on sackcloth and walk in mourning in front of Abner.”
Joab killed Abner and David ordered Joab to mourn for Abner.

Then David started his mourning/lamentation:

33 The king sang this lament for Abner:
“Should Abner have died as the lawless die? ...
38Then the king said to his men, “Do you not realize that a commander and a great man has fallen in Israel this day? 39 And today, though I am the anointed king, I am weak, and these sons of Zeruiah are too strong for me. May the Lord repay the evildoer according to his evil deeds!”
Verse 39 should be read as part of the lamentation/catharsis process and not as David's showing fear before Joab.

The Scope of It All

When we read the epistles to the Romans and to the Ephesians carefully, we cannot but see the difference between where the Gospel places us on earth, and where knowledge of our position puts us. In Romans I am a justified man going on to glory, fulfilling (because walking is the Spirit) the righteousness of the law (Rom 8:4)—all that God had required of a man, magnified in our Lord Jesus Christ.

Hence such an one presents the body as a living sacrifice, and serves according to the gift given him of the Father, known by the measure of faith (Rom 12:3). As a believer, he is hated by the world (Jhn 15:18, 24). There is nothing of position in all this, though no one could walk in the truth of the mystery (concerning Christ and the Church - Eph 5:32—NC), if he had not all this. I am through grace as much an Ephesian saint as I am a Roman saint; but I must be the lesser, or I could not be the greater (Mat 23:12).

In Romans I am a delivered one on the earth, walking in the Life of the Lord Jesus (Col 3:4), by the Holy Spirit dwelling in me (Jhn 14:16; Rom 8:11; 1Co 3:16). In Ephesians I am a member of the Body of Christ, in union with Him who is the Head in heaven (Colossians 1:18; Ephesians 5:23) and a member of His Body set there where He is, by the same power that placed Him there (Eph 2:6). The power that positioned me there works in us here (Eph 3:20), and now I am united wih the exalted Man: and by His Life I grow into a manifestation of Him where He has been rejected.

The Body of the glorified man is down here on the earth is to “grow up unto Him in all things” (Eph 4:15), “till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ” (Eph 4:13). Now we are not only opposed by the power of Amalek, who cut off the weak ones (Deu 25:18), but the whole subtlety of Satan is arrayed against us, in order to prevent our being in heavenly beauty down here (the devil can delay a believer’s growth in the faith in Christ, but never effect salvation, nor prohibit faith—NC). The Enemy cannot deprive us of our heavenly position, but he tries to prevent the manifestation of it from us.

This is the scope of the grace given to us in the whole, though we grow into it in parts (in position saints are everything Christ is - 1Jo 4:17, but are learning its application and fullness gradually—NC). The only way to grow is to be conscientiously true to what we so see. “He that hath, to him shall be given” (Mar 4:25). The more separate I am from the world (some separate themselves more than others—NC), and the less I am conformed to it, the less am I warped, and the better I can “prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God” (Rom 12:2).

Every true heart knows its own world. My world may not be the world to you. Music is one man’s world; painting, another man’s world; politics another’s, riches another’s, his family another’s and so on. Whatever is most difficult to surrender is your world; (“surrender” - place after God—NC) and as you advance, according as you seek separation to the Father, you have to separate from what you are most bound by (“bound” worldliness that means too much to you—NC), for it is that which influences you the most. It may even be a paltry thing. Isaac was warped by his son’s deception. Peter wanted to stand well with those who “came from James” (Gal 2:11-14 - these were Judaizing Christians believing in Christ, but were zealous of the law - Act 21:20—NC).

The Lord give you to see the whole scope of His grace, and give you grace to lay aside every hindrance, dealing honestly and truly with the one next to you. Many occupy themselves with the branches instead of with the root. The root is the seat of the evil, and the Spirit of God always leads to it (to put it off at the source—NC).

MJS daily devotional excerpt for November 27

“The Lord Jesus Christ is the only object for faith, the only One that satisfies us, as indeed He is the Father’s Object; and if we have got but one mind with the Father about Him, our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ.” If you are walking in the Spirit, the Lord Jesus is the Object before you; when you are walking in the flesh, yourself is your object.” William Kelly (1821-1906)

Vatican may add ‘spiritual abuse’ to crimes in Church law

The Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith has commissioned a study group to consider how “spiritual abuse” could be classified as a distinct and particular crime under canon law.

Evidence from many cases suggests that a period of spiritual abuse can precede other forms of abuse, but often it can be seen as subjective or inconclusive when reported.

So could a delict of “spiritual abuse” actually make it into law — and if it does, how easy would it be to prosecute?

Israel, Hezbollah reach ceasefire deal; Netanyahu will 'respond forcefully' to violations

I saw that there was an agreement between Israel and Lebanon, but not Hezbollah. The only thing
we can hope for is that the Lebanese government now removes Hezbollah from their nation.
