No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Dow slides 870 points, S&P 500 drops 2% for worst day since October on Trump tariff threat over Greenland: Live updates

I think many investors already knows about it

What many doesn't know is that highly influential people can also make as much or even more money by actively trading around sensational announcements they made themselves.

Since they're the ones making the announcements, they can setup their trades before making the announcement(s) before the market reacts.

They can do it much more frequently. You can't shut down the government frequently obviously. But you can make sensational announcements as often as you can. Setup trades around them and earnings can compound and earn way more than just one gov't shut down.

It seems many people/investors are unaware of this. Highly influential investors like Warren Buffet seem to do it as well. Giving people heart attacks so they can earn truckloads from the market.
Investors in the private sector don't know when the market will close and reopen until the day after it happens.

Members in Congress do know how the vote will go and they choose to invest at the very beginning of the shutdown
while stock prices are low. Many others just purchase "put" stocks, which they receive at the beginning and sell while the price is
high. They don't have to return the stocks until after the shutdown happens and they buy the stocks at a low price. The difference
between when the price is high and they sold is where they make their money.
Only people who are in good with brokers can do this, like Ted Cruzes wife was when she was an executive at Goldman
Sachs during the Obama shutdown.

This is why they've been asking for a bill to stop members in Congress from making stock purchases before and after a shutdown
which they know when it will happen.

Protestant magazine asks: ‘Why are so many young Protestants in America’s power centers converting to Catholicism?’...

When Anika Smith moved to Washington, D.C., more than a decade ago, her first order of business was to find a church. She didn’t have a car, so she used the metro. Even with transportation challenges, she managed to visit about three services each weekend. Her fourth Sunday, on a recommendation from a co-worker, she went to Church of the Advent, an Anglican congregation. Smith grew up Presbyterian in the Pacific Northwest, and Anglicanism was new to her.

“There were a lot of words, a lot of standing up and sitting down, and so many prayers,” she recalled with a laugh. But she knew almost instantly she had found her new church home. “Some of the first songs I heard were hymns I had sung back home,” she said. And the preaching was “gospel centered and Holy Spirit centered.”

Smith moved to Washington for a job in the conservative movement. That same month she was invited to a big party at the home of a Catholic friend. “It was really fun and sweet,” she said. But Smith noticed that, as a Protestant, she was in the minority. That was her first taste of the city’s vibrant Catholic social scene. Several years later, she enrolled in law school at the Catholic University of America. She continued attending Church of the Advent but also went to Mass. “I would just duck into daily Mass because I loved it,” she said.

Is a Mental-Health Crisis Hiding in the Church’s Pews?

New CatholicTV survey data suggest widespread emotional distress among U.S. Catholics, raising questions about how mental health may shape parish life and Mass attendance.

Growing concern over mental health is drawing increased attention within the American Church. This past week, Bishop Michael Burbidge issued a pastoral letter, “The Divine Physician and a Christian Approach to Mental Health and Wellbeing,” reflecting his deepening concern — especially for young people.

His letter builds on a 2024 pastoral from Bishop James Conley of Lincoln, Nebraska, who spoke candidly about his own experience with mental‑health challenges, and it echoes themes raised by Bishop John Dolan of Phoenix, who has endured the loss of three siblings to suicide.

This renewed episcopal focus is both welcome and necessary.

1 John 3:9 Does this mean I must be sin free?

Yes we need to be sin free, the bible really say that,
but that doesn't mean being free of all mistakes and sins, because that is not possible.
by those sins i mean the ones that doesn't affect too much our relationship with God.
But the bible just says "Don't be deceived, those who do this and that are not going to inherit the kingdom of God"
Those serious sins we need to cut with urgency.
Yes, we must be on the right path. That doesn't mean our flesh will not trip us up from time to time. But if we commit a sin we confess that sin and He cleanses us from all unrighteousness. Then we get up and continue on the path. We can't choose to be perfect but we can choose the path toward perfection and be counted as perfect because of Christ's one sacrifice. So, even when we fall it only highlights the love and sacrifice of our saviour and our Father.

Ahead of consistory, priest urges new canonical structure to resolve Latin Mass standoff

I have never understood the hostility displayed by certain clergy over the Tridentine Mass. It just doesn't make any sense to me. Is it a valid Mass? The Vatican has said so. Is it irreverent, or rebellious, or encouraging dissent from the True Faith? No. So what's the problem? If there are people who prefer to worship in the form of the Tridentine Latin Mass, let them have it. What is it possibly going to hurt??? I just don't get the stubborn, cold-hearted resistance to it.
I agree. I once spoke with a priest at dinner and the TLM came up. He insisted that I had no idea how awful it was back then. He was not old enough to have grown up with it.

Here is what I find sad. Go by a general Christian church and you will see: 900 Traditional 1100 contemporary.

The Full Armor of God

“Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm. Stand firm therefore, having girded your loins with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; in addition to all, taking up the shield of faith with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” (Ephesians 6:13-17 NASB1995)

So, what is the armor of God? And how do we take up the full armor of God? Well, it isn’t some kind of religious ritual we go through. And it isn’t just in the words that we speak. And it isn’t reciting the written words in some kind of ritualistic religious exercise. But it is done in every day practical living, i.e. in putting the word of the Lord into practice in our daily lives. So, it is all that God has provided for us to live holy lives, pleasing to the Lord, in service to our Lord, and in spiritual warfare against our enemy, the devil.

For what are the devil’s schemes against us? His main goal is to get us to distrust God and his word and to believe the lies being spoken in the name of Christ and in the name of the gospel. He wants us to believe that faith in Jesus Christ requires nothing of us other than a verbal profession of faith in Christ and an acknowledgement of belief in Jesus’ bodily resurrection. He wants us believing that we are not required of God to die with Christ to sin and to walk with God in obedience to his commands, by the Spirit.

But Jesus Christ taught that to come to him we must deny self, take up our cross daily (die daily to sin), and follow (obey) him. For if we hold on to living in sin and for self, we will lose our lives for eternity. But if we deny self, die daily to sin, by the Spirit, and we walk in obedience to our Lord and to his commands, in his power, then we have eternal life with God. For not everyone who calls him “Lord” will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one DOING (obeying) the will of God (see Luke 9:23-26; Matthew 7:21-23).

For by God-gifted faith in Jesus Christ, which is not of our own doing, we are crucified with Christ in death to sin and raised with Christ to walk in newness of life in him, no longer to live as slaves to sin but as slaves to righteousness in walks of obedience to God’s commands. We are no longer to permit sin to reign in our mortal bodies to make us obey its desires. For if sin is what we obey, it results in death. But if obedience to God is what we obey, it results in sanctification, and its end is eternal life with God (see Romans 6:1-23).

So, we must cling to the truth of God’s word, and we must refute the lies of the enemy coming from the mouths of some pastors and book authors and famous people and evangelists and actors and government heads. For so many people today are teaching a half-truth (false) gospel created in the minds of human flesh via removing Scriptures from their appropriate context and twisting them to say what they do not say if taught in the correct biblical context. And many people are following the lies all the way to hell.

So, if we are putting on the armor of God daily so that we can fight against the schemes of the devil, then we need to be students of the Scriptures, taught in the correct biblical context, who are putting them into practice in our every day lives. We must be those who have, by faith in Jesus, died to sin and who are now walking in obedience to our Lord’s commands, all in the power of God, and not in human flesh. And we must be those who are sharing the truth of the gospel with others for their salvation from sin.

And we must be living righteously, in surrender of our will to the will of God for our lives, no longer living as slaves to sin but as servants of our Lord Jesus Christ. Our faith in Jesus Christ must be biblical faith which is of God and which convinces us of our sinfulness and of our need to die to sin and to obey our Lord and his commands. And we must stand strong in our faith and on what the Word of God teaches, in context, so that we can refute the lies of the enemy and share with the people the truth from God’s holy word.

Be Strong in The Lord

“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.” (Ephesians 6:10-12 NASB1995)

What should it look like if we are “strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might”? It doesn’t mean being purposefully obnoxious with the full intent to hurt others. It doesn’t mean we go around yelling and screaming at everyone in a rant. Strength is not about being a bully. For when I am weak, then am I strong in the strength of the Lord. It does mean being determined to hold to the truth of the Scriptures, and to not compromise with the world, and to speak the truth as Jesus spoke it, and to live what we say we believe.

It means we do not give the devil a foothold in our lives, and we are not chameleons who blend in with our environment in order to be liked by other humans. We are not double-minded people who sway back and forth, as on a teeter-totter, who go with the crowd so that others will not think that we are weird. And it has nothing to do with how many Scripture verses we have memorized or how scholarly we are in biblical Greek or how good we are at public speaking. It has everything to do with being led of the Holy Spirit.

For if we are strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might, it has everything to do with the Lord and not with us or our opinions. We can only be strong, as this talks about, as our lives are surrendered to the Lord to do his will, in submission to his Lordship over our lives, in walks of obedience to his commands, as empowered by God and not by human flesh. But it does have to do with us being consistent and trustworthy and steadfast and immovable with regard to holding to the truths of God’s word, by his grace.

For we can only stand against the schemes of the devil if we are following the ways of our Lord and we are doing as our Lord commands, in practice. We can only stand against the devil’s schemes if we are willing to be hated, rejected, mocked, slandered, and cast aside as unwanted for standing on the truth of God’s word, even at the hands of the scholarly and the educated who have credentials and thus deem themselves superior to us who are lacking in fleshly credentials. We cannot be intimidated by them at all.

I am certain there are all kinds of scholarly people out there bearing their credentials who have a whole lot of head knowledge but their lives are not surrendered to Jesus Christ to doing his will, but they are busy performing before other humans in order to be accepted by them. And so they are not strong in the strength of the Lord, and they are not able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil, for their trust is in the flesh and not in the Lord. And so many are following marketing schemes instead of God’s plans.

So, just saying that worldly credentials do not necessarily equal godly lives committed to the will of God and to the truth of the Scriptures. So, just because someone goes by a title, it does not mean that person even knows the Lord intimately. What God is looking for is those who will humble themselves before the Lord, in submission to him as Lord, who are willing to forfeit the things of this world in order to serve the Lord with their lives in being his witnesses and in sharing the gospel truth without compromise.

For Jesus Christ taught that to come to him we must deny self, take up our cross daily (die daily to sin), and follow (obey) him.

Bombs are bursting. Night is falling.
Jesus Christ is gently calling
You to follow Him in all ways.
Trust Him with your life today.
Make Him your Lord and your Savior.
Turn from your sin. Follow Jesus.
He will forgive you of your sin;
Cleanse your heart, made new within.

Men betraying: Our trust fraying.
On our knees to God we’re praying,
Seeking God to give us answers
That are only found in Him.
God is sovereign over all things.
Nothing from His mind escaping.
He has all things under His command,
And will work all for good.

Jesus Christ is gently calling
You to follow Him in all ways.

Men deceiving: We’re believing
In our Lord, and interceding
For our nation and its people
To obey their God today.
He is our hope for our future.
For our wounds He offers suture.
He is all we need for this life.
Trust Him with your life today.

Midrash Parashat: BO (The First Passover) EX 10:1-13:16

PARASHA: “BO” (enter) EXODUS 10:1-13:16

The Parasha starts out, “And the LORD said unto Moshe, ‘Go in unto Pharaoh’…” Strange, the word “Go” in Hebrew is “Sh’lach”, but the Hebrew scriptures read “Bo” (enter), so, in reality, the Word of God is saying, “Enter, or Come in unto Pharaoh” But why? One way of looking at this is that Adonai is already there in the palace of Pharaoh, and HE is inviting Moses to come where He is to do business with Pharaoh! And what a business deal! Let’s make him an offer he can’t refuse! Freedom for Israel…or the plagues continue! So, it is “God against Pharaoh and his gods.” Guess who wins? Pharaoh's biggest concern and worry was losing his free workforce. Once the Israelites are gone, who would do the heavy labor?

The plagues against the Egyptian gods continue; it is our “Creator God YHVH” against Pharaoh and his false deities. Guess who is winning, yes, you know it. However, I need to point out that many of us peg Pharaoh and the Egyptians as the “bad guys” and the Israelites as the “good guys”. But we need to take note of something that many believers have in common with Pharaoh. After the plague of locusts, Pharaoh said;

“I have sinned against the LORD your God, (notice that he said “YOUR” ) and against you. Now therefore, forgive I pray thee my sin only this once and entreat the LORD your God that he may take away this death only”(Ex 10:17), and even before that, Pharaoh spoke, saying;

I have sinned this time, the LORD is righteous, and I and my people are wicked, entreat the LORD that there be no more mighty thunderings and hail, and I will let you go, and ye shall stay no longer (EX 9:27,28)

All of these plagues were directed against the false gods of Egypt. The Nile had a goddess (Anuket), and the cattle god was “Apis” in the form of a bull. The sun-god “Ra” was directly attacked by the plague of darkness; In chap 10, 22-23, Moshe speaks of a “darkness which could be felt” per instructions of YHVH, Moshe stretched out his hand towards the heavens, and “darkness” descended over Egypt. We ask ourselves, “How can a person ‘feel’ darkness, it isn’t ‘physical’ yet it could be felt by the Egyptians.

I would think that the “darkness” that the Egyptians felt was more spiritual and emotional than physical. It was a darkness so “thick” that one person could not see another. Perhaps a sort of supernatural darkness came from YHVH, perhaps a “moist and humid” darkness (perhaps a dense fog) so that when the Egyptians went to light their lamps, they would not light.

I experienced such darkness when I was living in Mexico in 1973. A “campesino” showed me a cave that was in the middle of a forest. No one could find the exit, for it extended for miles. “Cuidado” (careful, he told me) “People have gone crazy inside there.” Well, I just had to go in to find out myself. After going in about thirty-feet, the cave turned to the right. I went to the right about 10 feet and all of a sudden, there was pitch darkness, so dark that I could not see my hand in front of my face. I felt instant fear, so much that I turned and left the way I came in. As soon as I saw the light of the outside, I breathed a sigh of relief. I did not go back inside. (Well, that day I did not have a lantern with me, nor a flashlight).

Perhaps the darkness which was felt was that of “fear”. There is a spiritual darkness in which many people dwell, without the light of the Torah, of Yeshua. We live in darkness, yet the scripture tells us that in the dwellings of the Israelites, there was light. Their lamps were lit, and they could see each other. The three days of darkness were like three regular evenings for the Israelites; they had lights, and they had the light of YHVH, the promise of redemption, the coming of the first Passover, and freedom was just around the corner, just a few days ahead.

Pharaoh seems to be repentant, yet it is just “lip service” from “tooth to lip”; he continues to rebel against YHVH and refuses to let Israel go. How many believers claim to love God and admit that they are sinners and wicked, and we all are because of our “yetzer hara” (evil inclination) or in simple words, “sin nature” yet we ignore the Torah, we disobey HIS commandments…or…we promise that we will obey, yet we go back on our promise. I think this is true for ALL of us from time to time, for some more often than others.

Even the Israelites, once they got out of Egypt, began to complain, and gripe, grumble, groan, and break G-d’s commandment, making an idol calf of gold. Are we any better? Do we not grumble and complain too? For this and for that? We break YHVH’s commandments, and we say, “sorry” and seem repentant, but continue in the same sins. I think we are like Pharaoh as much as like the Israelites.

Sometimes, we want to compromise, not follow ALL of Adonai’s instructions, perhaps not follow the whole Torah. Adonai’s instructions to Moshe, as he revealed to Pharaoh, were to leave Egypt, the whole people, with all their properties (herds and flocks) go to the wilderness, and sacrifice to the LORD, yet Pharaoh said he would comply…but…not all the way;

“Go sacrifice to your God in the land” (just stay in Egypt) “go to the wilderness, but not so far away.”(yes, so we can keep an eye on you so that you don’t run away!) “Go serve the LORD, the men only” (yet Adonai wants “all the people”) “go serve the LORD, but your herds and flocks stay here” (so, how are they going to sacrifice without the flocks and the herds?)

Do we follow wholeheartedly? Or do we pick and choose? Do we follow Torah only when convenient? Or parts that won’t interrupt our lifestyles? Do we follow some commandments and not follow others, saying “these aren’t for us, only for Israel” if we are picking and choosing, then we are like Pharaoh, trying to “bargain” or make “Compromise” with the LORD through his chosen servant?

I would like to add this detail also. It is about “HaMateh” (The Staff), this is the staff or the rod of Moshe and Aaron, the one that was used to bring about the plagues. It is very interesting and how it relates to the power of Elohim through Moshe. The word “Mateh” in Hebrew has two meanings. One is “Rod” or “Staff,” and it represents the power and authority of the holder of the same. It also means “Tribe” and in plural, “Matot” (Tribes).

When Moshe was still before YHVH at Har Sinai, He told Moshe to use the “Mateh” to show the people HIS power. The power of Elohim-YHVH through Moshe. Moshe would be as “Elohim” before Pharaoh. The rod would be the symbol of authority, as it also represents the “Tribe” of “Kol Israel” of “All Israel” united as One Tribe. “Mateh Echad”.

If we look at the staff of Moshe through spiritual eyes, just imagine the name YHVH carved into this staff or rod of judgment. We look at the value of the letters Y H, V H. The first two letters, “Yod and Hey” 10 and 5. Those two letters form the shorter form of the name of God; “YaH”. The letter “Yod” = 10. It can symbolize the “10” plagues that were to befall Egypt, by the “Arm” (Yod) of Elohim. The hand is part of the arm, remember that.

Then we see the letter “Hey” that has the value of “5”. We can sum up the promises of YHVH as the following; 1) Elohim will deliver Israel out from under the burden of Egyptian Slavery; 2) Israel will be REDEEMED by the ARM of Elohim-YHVH; 3) Elohim-YHVH will Israel as HIS people and will be their GOD; 4) Israel will be brought into the chosen land of promise; 5) The promised land will be an INHERETANCE.

After the 10 plagues, the 5 basic promises were fulfilled. The redemption was fulfilled when the lambs and goats were slaughtered and sacrificed in the Israelite homes on the Eve of Pesach. So that gives us Y and H in the infallible name of God.

But we still have Vav (V) and Hey (H). We know that the “Hey” covers the promises, but the “Vav” is the key letter that points us to Calvary’s Cross! The “Vav” is the nail that was driven into the hands of Mashiach; this would “really” fulfill the promise of redemption. The redemption was symbolized by the animal sacrifices until Yeshua came and fulfilled it in “Full”. The “Vav” has the value of “6”, which is the number of “Man”. So, Elohim became a man to receive the nail in his hands to make full the promise of redemption, which was part of the promises. The first story of Israel’s redemption by blood is in chapter 12. This can be the most important chapter of Exodus because it is “Pesach Time.” (Passover)
” This month shall be your beginning of months for you, it shall be the first month of the year for you.”

This can't be any clearer in my observation; it isn't January 1st, it is the first of Nissan, and since the lunar calendar changes from year to year, our “New Year's Day” (the real one) comes on March 18th, 2026 (New Year's Eve).

” On the tenth of this month, everyone shall take a lamb.... a lamb for each household” ......

This lamb was to be a young, healthy lamb, and it would be kept for 5 days. On the 14th day, it would be slaughtered, and as we know, the blood would be placed on the two side posts of the door of the house entrance and along the top frame. As the story goes on, the death angel would come and see the blood and thus “pass over” that house that had the blood on the doorposts.

If you imagine that, the blood on the door posts...forms sort of a “cross” you can imagine Yeshua with his arms and hands extended, each one touch one of the “door posts” and his head against the “top part” where the blood from his head would be (where the Roman soldiers pushed in the crown of thorns) and where the nails were hammered (in the wrists) between the two small bones that form the arm (remember that not one bone was broken), so it had to between the bones, through the muscle.

The lamb or goat was to be eaten roasted, with bitter herbs and unleavened bread. The other elements were added later and were present when Yeshua celebrated the Pesach Supper with his talmidim. The roasted lamb or goat symbolizes “Yeshua being “roasted” in the “fires of judgment for our sins. He took upon himself ALL of our sins, past, present, and future. They were all “nailed” to the cross and judged by the Father. The “bitter herbs” symbolize the bitterness of slavery, the slavery to sin, and having a master, “HaSatan,” as our taskmaster. The unleavened bread symbolizes “Yeshua The Bread of Life” bread without leaven can be considered “perfect, sinless bread, therefore calling Yeshua who is without sin, “The Bread of Life”, and when we eat the “bread without leaven” (Matzah) we are symbolizing “taking into us Yeshua” and when we eat only unleavened bread for 7 days afterwards, we are being conscience of “sin in our lives” (avoiding it) being reminded by the matzah.

At the first Passover, wine wasn't mentioned, nor does it mention “Charoseth” (sweet mixture of nuts, apples, honey, cinnamon, etc.). They may have had wine, or water, or another drink, but no one knows for sure, nor do we know what kind of “bitter herbs” were used, today we use horseradish. Back then, it had to be something common in Egypt.

The death angel visited the houses where no blood was found, so probably all the houses of the Egyptians lacked the blood, but perhaps there were a few houses that had members who paid attention to Moshe, and they might have gone to the Israelites and put blood on their doors.
We are talking about a “substitution sacrifice”; the “lambs and goats” were substituted for the Israelites' firstborn. And any Egyptian household that also placed the blood on their doors (those who believed). We can see in scripture where a “substitute” was used. When Abraham was asked to sacrifice Isaac, God provided a “ram” as a substitute for Isaac, On Yom Kippur, two goats are used as “substitutes” for all of the people of Israel, and finally, “Yeshua Ha Mashiach” (Jesus the Messiah/Christ) was “OUR” substitute on the cross, HE exchanged his “Righteousness for our sinfulness” instead of us being punished for our sins, Yeshua accepted the punishment in our place.

All that remains for us is to accept his “one-time only” sacrifice and receive and accept HIM as our LORD and SAVIOR, and thus be “born again” according to John 3:3. Have you done this? If you were to die today, are you sure that Yeshua is your LORD and Savior? Will HE let you into his Kingdom? Only you can answer that question.

J-horror

I've never heard of it. I wonder if it'll take off here like other Japanese culture like anime & manga
It did in the mid-2000s, when hollywood did tons of j-horror remakes.

Now, despite some franchises that are trying to become popular again, I think there is little chance they will become as popular as these movies used to be.

Bondi Letter to Minnesota's Governor - Blackmail

US AG Pam Bondi writes letter to Governor Walz, warning of Minnesota immigration policy endangering agents US AG Pam Bondi writes letter to Governor Walz, warning of Minnesota immigration policy endangering agents

The Trump administration wants access to all of Minnesota's voter's records, as well as programs Medicare aid and food service programs, and seem to indicate then they'll remove ice????

Is it about illegal immigration who are murders and rapists or ????

What's On Your Mind?

The church I've been attending also cancelled due to weather ...
but the pastor did a Facebook (greatly modified!) service from his home ...
and I really enjoyed it!

That sounds interesting! I was surprised the Methodist church we watched didn't have a blog service -- the pastor there has s really good blog that's shown on Youtube.

We got about 12 inches of snow here ... and will have frigid temps all week ... but we're prepared for snow up here and should be okay (as long as they can keep the electrical power on for us!).

We had maybe two inches of snow and a layer of sleet underneath. It might clear away by Thursday, the temps aren't in any hurry to warm up. Hopefully the roads will be mostly clear by Wednesday morning, we have a doctor appointment. We do have snow plows! ^_^

What a blessing to wrap up your storm with some sunshine! From my years in Oklahoma, I very well know how challenging the weather can be in that part of the country ... but it was always so nice when the day ended with some sunshine, and most days in Oklahoma did! :blacksunrays:

My husband grew up in southwestern NY state. We made one of our yearly visits, when his parents were still living, in December. After we landed and got on the
road we were basically in a blizzard. I think we were the last plane that landed -- a puddle jumper from Detroit to Erie. We got ourselves behind a semi and followed
it the entire distance we had to drive. Felt pretty safe!

Overcoming Obstacles

“But He gives a greater grace. Therefore it says, ‘God is opposed to the proud, but gives grace to the humble.’” (James 4:6 NASB1995)

I was in third grade in elementary school. I was called to a meeting of adults in the basement of the school. They asked me if my parents ever fought. Next thing I recall is that I was sent back to second grade. They said I was not ready for third grade. I didn’t know it then but I had difficulty with reading comprehension, which no one tried to correct. And I did poorly in any school subjects that required reading. And I graduated high school with a 1.4 GPA (D average), and I started college reading on a fourth grade level.

In college I did well in my music classes, but anything involving reading I did poorly in, again. I did take a class to help me in my reading, and I did get up to 7th grade level. After about 3 years of college I realized I was not going to be able to graduate, and so I took a typing class, and I got a clerical job. Then I got married, and we started a family, and so now all my work was either at home, or it was volunteer work in the church gatherings (usually clerical work or in music), or in the community, or at my children’s schools.

My father told me once that he could probably find something to talk about with me, “even though you are not as intelligent as my other children.” And I had pastors who criticized me because of my love for the Lord, and because of my desire to serve the Lord with my life, and because I stood on the truth of God’s word, and I would not compromise truth, and I would not tell lies. One pastor told me he was warned about people like me, i.e. “people with strong convictions,” and he wanted me to let him be God’s voice to me.

Throughout my life I kept getting the “smack down.” Sometimes I felt like a basketball being continually slam dunked into the hoop, or like someone drowning who was pushed down underneath the water with the intention to drown me and to silence me. Satan was fighting very hard against me to destroy my life and to keep me silent and to dishearten and to discourage me so that I would run away and give up. And there were times when I did, in fact, run away and give up. But God didn’t give up on me. He had a plan.

And get this! God took a woman, then of 54 years old, who had poor reading comprehension, who had been rejected over and over, and told that she was a nothing and that she was to shut up and to follow man’s ways of doing things. And he called me to his service. And he had me reading all kinds of news articles and historical and medical and scientific articles which I would never have imagined myself comprehending, for he was showing me my world so that I would have an idea of what is going on in the world today.

And he had me reading the Scriptures from beginning to end, over and over again, and writing about passages of Scripture I would never have comprehended before. And he was making the word of God practical and applicable to our world today. And then he had me start writing songs (never done this before) and poems (not like any I had ever written before) and doing video talks (I’m not a public speaker) and making Christian memes, and giving testimonies, and none of this was possible in my own flesh!!

And all this was God’s grace to me! All of this was God doing in my life all that I would never even have thought of or dreamed of doing ever, and all that I would never have imagined possible. The proud? They put me down. They rejected me. They cast me aside as worthless and not worth their time. And many of them still do. But God humbled me through those experiences, and he taught me to depend on him in all things, and to believe him, that he could do with me and in me what I would never have thought possible EVER!

So, the Lord is leading me to write this today to encourage anyone reading this that our God is the God of the impossible, and he can do in the lives of those who humble themselves before him what they would never have imagined possible for them to do, because so many people treated them as though they were not worth their time, as though they would never amount to anything. But God chose the despised and the unappreciated and the weak and the rejected to shame the strong.. (see 1 Corinthians 1:26-31)

Saturday and Sunday

Acts 20:7 mentions the first day of the week. (Sunday).
Luke 23:56 is literally the next day after the death of Jesus Christ, after He ratified His covenant at the Cross. Jesus never mentioned to anyone about a change in one of His commandments after His death. His faithful followers were still keeping the Sabbath after His death and were the first to see Him after He rose, Jesus never mentioned one word about any change. He already promised He would not Psa89:34 Mat5:18-19

Acts 20:7 is almost thirty years later. It was also a one time meeting where the apostles came together to eat on Saturday night (day1- days starts at night in Scripture) and they say it was because Paul was going on a trip the next morning. I do things in my life every day of the week, just as most people. just as the disciples did. It says nothing about it being a new Sabbath, a new day of worship, a new commandment- we need God for that. Only God can sanctify a day or sanctify us- He related both to the seventh day Sabbath Eze20:12 Exo20:11 Gen2:3. In order to make a change to God's covenant, that He told us to hold fast to Isa 56:6-7 it would require the blood of Jesus all over again. He died for us once and for all Heb10:10

Forbidden foods

I think we should obey all the heath laws for spiritual reasons. Our body is a temple and dwelling place of the Holy Spirit.

After God deemed the clean and unclean foods He said this:

Lev 11: 44 For I am the Lord your God. You shall therefore consecrate yourselves, and you shall be holy; for I am holy. Neither shall you defile yourselves with any creeping thing that creeps on the earth. 45 For I am the Lord who brings you up out of the land of Egypt, to be your God. You shall therefore be holy, for I am holy.

God wants to change us from the inside out, what we eat has a lot to do with it. Our temple needs to be clean not just what we eat, but what we listen to and watch and how we live.
Thank you for responding.

Peace

My sisters mental health issues seem to be getting worse and occurring with more frequency.

Just an update. My sister is still in the hospital. Possibility of her being released tomorrow. From what I understand. She was not wearing a coat, shoes, or socks. She had no intention of going to the hospital originally but the cold got to her and she ended up ducking into the hospital and it went from there. She is very lucky to not have ended up with hypothermia and frostbite. Thank you all again for the prayers.
May God keep her under his care! May the Blessed Mother wrap her in her mantle! May St. Dymphna intercede for her! Amen!

Novena for the Canonization of Fulton Sheen

Heavenly Father, source of all holiness, You raise up within the Church in every age men and women who serve with heroic love and dedication. You have blessed Your Church through the life and ministry of Your faithful servant, Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen. He has written and spoken well of Your Divine Son, Jesus Christ, and was a true instrument of the Holy Spirit in touching the hearts of countless people. If it be according to Your Will, for the honor and glory of the Most Holy Trinity and for the salvation of souls, we ask You to move the Church to proclaim him a saint. We ask this prayer through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory be...

Amen.

The Guiltless Life

According He's always there: we're the wild card. We can refuse the work He began in us. That's what poor soil is all about.
I believe the problem with the three poor grounds were seed that could not develop good fruit, which means no salvation; because "a good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit" (Matt 7:18).
