I was so thrilled about it, when I heard the news! Praise God!

However we need to help people who want to transition to become comfortable with their biological sex. Prayer and counselling come to mind, but unfortunately equality legislation makes offering this difficult.

Is this tied into monkeys in the wild spinning from grapevines?

I don't appreciate the old adage (are there new ones?) "Enough is as good as a feast".

The idea that any religion of any sort would be arguing for "a day of rage" is an example of moral decay in society.

Any movement at all that argues for "a day of rage" should be seriously questioned by all citizens having common sense.

The Bible is already banned in many places in the world, and people are being tortured and murdered for merely possessing it, or even discussing it.

I think that if a person is willing to die for it, it shouldn't matter if it's banned.

The error is in halfheartedly reading it he becomes a bishop from the pool of elders just as elect citizens in every city for the councilman....

the elder is a man that has qualifications but is not an official but rather a rank and file man and is ordained as a bishop. go ahead and look and pull one up to keep it simple.

An elder that rules his house well gets a first honor because his children honor him, and he is worthy of double honor because the church notices his house and asks him to serve the church. Men wiith haywire children and from broken marriages though fine christians should not be in the oversite or ministry.

The gentiles were/are anyone not Jewish. In other words also the other 10 tribes of the House of Israel. These 10 tribes were scattered expanding the Commonwealth of Israel. What was one people became two even before the scattering (Israel and Judah), and even though Jesus said to go out to all nations of the House of Israel, the two have not yet reunited as one. Sibling rivalry still exists.

In an emotional session in the Ninth Judicial Circuit Court of Florida on Tuesday, First Baptist Orlando’s longtime Pastoral Care Minister, Bill Curl, forgave the man who fatally battered his wife during a home invasion earlier this year. The man pleaded guilty to the crime and was sentenced to life in prison.

Ronald Davis, the 55-year-old man who admitted to killing Lucy Pat Curl, the 85-year-old wife of Bill Curl, in January, changed his not guilty plea to guilty as part of the plea deal, telling Judge Leticia Marques that it was the right thing to do.

“The defendant has taken from us our [m]atriarch. My wife, 64 years. Happily all the time. She’s been the one, the glue that kinda holds our family together,” Bill Curl said in a statement to the court about the impact of his wife’s murder on his family, according to NBC News affiliate WESH 2.

I remember so vividly Speaker John Boehner's leaving Congress the day after Pope Francis spoke in 2015.

He was Catholic, and I believed that his encounter with the Pope made him question many (if not most) of the causes he was working for in Congress.

Biden, who was VP at the time, also seemed to be affected. I saw ABC's memoir of Pope Francis this morning, and when I saw Pope Francis spending hours comforting and weeping with the refugees I was reminded of Biden, who visited grieving families who had lost children--in war and in other tragedies--and even gave them his phone number and told them they could call him if they needed support.

So I am hoping against hope that perhaps VP Vance's encounter with Pope Francis may result in a transformation of his soul. I see him as the self-described hillbilly, desperate to reinvent himself, and perhaps falling into the wrong influences with the oligarchs of the Silicon Valley who shaped his ascent into politics. If he is still open to this process of reinvention, perhaps God called him to visit Pope Francis at that moment, and he may have been given the grace to see his role in the world through Pope Francis' vision--as a servant leader, serving those who need him most.

I pray that the lack of money will be one of the reasons that Hamas is completely and utterly defeated.

A lot of words will be written about the late Pontiff in the coming days. I’d like to offer some as a one-time staffer.

I began working in the Vatican Secretariat of State under Pope Benedict XVI in 2007. By the time Cardinal Bergoglio was elected to the Chair of Peter in 2013, I felt I had a pretty good grasp on how things worked. Then the first Latin American pope decided to shake things up. He settled down not in the Apostolic Palace, but in the Domus Sanctae Marthae so that he could be surrounded by people. He penned replies to letters personally rather than allowing us to reply on his behalf. He took walks within the sight of tourists only to be rebuked by his security detail and whisked away by car.

The fact is that things needed shaking up. Benedict XVI was a wonderful man and an extremely fine theologian. But he trusted people too readily and underestimated his foes. He was much more comfortable writing books than governing the Church. This is not a criticism, just a reality check.

We all, of course, have weaknesses, Francis (and Benedict) included. That’s the point. The late Pontiff could be judgmental and swift to anger. He didn’t always know what to say when. In fact, he didn’t seem to want to. Again, these are not meant to be criticisms, just observations from the inside.

I loved Pope Francis as much as I loved his predecessor. Both were men of deep prayer, ardent charity, and tireless service. Both loved the Lord and wanted others to know His love. They did all they could to show it. In these and in other respects, Benedict and Francis were more similar than different, though the media focused on the differences.

In addition to their unprecedented historical importance, the Dead Sea Scrolls are archaeological marvels. First discovered in 1946 by a shepherd in the Qumran Caves of the Judaean desert, this mysterious collection of ancient manuscripts comprising biblical texts, calendars, and astrological charts has long excited scientists — and left them wondering how they survived so well for some 2,000 years.

While many of the 1,000 documents have deteriorated over time, some of these ancient scrolls were indeed found in astoundingly well-preserved condition, especially one 25-foot piece known as the Temple Scroll.

Now, a recent study has uncovered what scientists believe is the key to its preservation — and its possible destruction.

Pope Francis ordered that upon his death he would be buried in the Basilica Santa Maria Maggiore (Basilica of St. Mary Major). This basilica was very dear to him. Francis, however, will not be the only pope to be buried outside of the Vatican City State.

In the history of the Catholic Church, there have been 266 popes, and only about 30 of them have been buried outside of Rome.

About 90 popes are buried in St. Peter’s Basilica (21 in the Vatican grottoes), 22 in St. John the Lateran, seven in Santa Maria Maggiore, five in Santa Maria sopra Minerva (St. Mary of Minerva), five at the Basilica San Lorenzo fuori le mura (St. Lawrence Outside the Walls), three at St. Paul Outside the Walls, and one in the Basilica of the Twelve Holy Apostles.

Various factors are at play when it comes to the decision of a burial place. The chosen location may be a basilica the deceased pope is particularly fond of or one that is a symbolically important place.
