  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Did Jesus bring peace?

Luke 2:

This was not universal peace or external peace. John 14:

This was inner peace.

On the other hand, Matthew 10:

That's about external peace or conflicts.

Was Jesus here to bring peace or not?

Jesus brought inner peace to those who believed in him. In his second coming, he will bring universal and external peace.

How does one make sense of these two conflicting passages?

John 14 was about inner peace, while Matthew 10 was about external peace. Jesus brought us inner peace, and when he returns, he will bring universal peace.
Agree. Jesus did not come to bring world peace, but inner peace. The peace that passes or transcends all understanding.

Philippians 4:7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Despite the turmoil that goes on in the world and at times in our lives, we are still at peace in our hearts and minds because of knowing that everything will work out fine in the end when Jesus returns.

The Right Time by Disciple

My ship is going down tonight
And the waves are drowning out all the life
And I'm pretty sure there's no way I will make it out
Then just at the right time God comes crashing in
Just at the right time I'm saved by His hand
Just when I thought all hope was lost and this would be the end
There was God just at the right time
The sun is swallowed by the clouds
And the darkness closes in on all around
And I'm pretty sure that there's no way
But He'll make a way somehow
Then just at the right time God comes crashing in
Just at the right time I'm saved by His hand
Just when I thought all hope was lost and this would be the end
There was God just at the right time
My God will make a way even when it seems that there's no way
With God it's never too late
With God it's never too late
Then just at the right time God comes crashing in
Just at the right time I'm saved by His hand
Just when I thought all hope was lost and this would be the end
There was God just at the right time

Inside my head there's a war tonight still no end in sight
And every breath is cold as ice but the fire will never die
Won't let myself be shaken by the way I see the times
There's an ending that's unseen that I choose to believe
That I won't break
Holding on to the words You've spoken
Through the fight and the flames I'm not alone
My hope in You is set in stone
So let the sky fall down, the earthquake shake the ground
Whatever comes my way I know that
I'm coming out the other side unbroken
I'm coming out unbroken
You will give me strength and wings to fly to rise above the night
So come what may let the waters rise and I'll walk on the tides
Won't let my faith be haunted by the bones that lay behind
'Cause there's an ending that's unseen that I choose to believe
That I won't break
Holding on to the words You've spoken
Through the fight and the flames I'm not alone
My hope in You is set in stone
So let the sky fall down, the earthquake shake the ground
Whatever comes my way I know that
I'm coming out the other side unbroken
I'm coming out the other side unbroken
I'm coming out unbroken
So let sky fall down, the earthquake shake the ground
I am coming out, I'm coming out unbroken
Holding on to the words You've spoken
Through the fight and the flames I'm not alone
My hope in you is set in stone
So let the sky fall down, the earthquake shake the ground
Whatever comes my way I know that
I'm coming out the other side unbroken
I'm coming out the other side unbroken

5 companies that are scaling back DEI, LGBT advocacy

Large companies created "Human Resource" departments after the Civil Rights Act to ensure they were obeying the law and to keep the executives out of court. Human Resources departments are a matter of pain avoidance.

DEI was not necessitated by any new laws. It was nothing more than an attempt by companies to display the right "vibe," to get social approval. That was "gratification seeking," which for a company equates to "more customers" or "improved operations." It's only worth while as long as it actually results in making more sales or improving operations...neither of which DEI does. "Good vibes" is ultimately not profitable.

Judge delays Trump hush money sentencing until after election

NBC NEWS

“The Court is a fair, impartial, and apolitical institution,” Merchan wrote. “Adjourning decision on the motion and sentencing, if such is required, should dispel any suggestion that the Court will have issued any decision or imposed sentence either to give an advantage to, or to create a disadvantage for, any political party and/or any candidate for any office.”

you think he's going to say, "Yeah I'm delaying but I'm 1000000% totes going to jail trump!!." if that is his decision? You do know what impartial means right? He's not going to give any hint or clue as to his ruling yet.

The Lion of Juda and Root of David

Rev 5:5b behold, the Lion of the tribe of Juda (tittle of Jesus Hos 5:14), the Root of David (tittle of Jesus Isa 22:22),

  • Lam 3:10 He was to me as a bear lying in wait, as a lion in secret places.
  • Hos 5:14 For I will be unto Ephraim as a lion, and as a young lion to the house of Judah: I, even I, will tear and go away; I will take away, and none shall rescue him.

Rev 22:16 I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.

Jesus Prevails Through the Cross

Rev 5:5c (Jesus) has prevailed (overcome-the cross) to open the book (Rev 5:1).

Phl 3:18 (For a large group of individuals walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: (the cross is a weapon against evil)
  • Joh 19:30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.
  • Mat 27:50 Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost. Mat 27:51 And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent; Mat 27:52 And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose, Mat 27:53 And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.
Eph 4:8 Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.

Eph 2:16 And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:

Col 2:14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross.

1Co 1:17 For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of no effect.

1Co 1:18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. Phl 2:8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

Col 1:20 And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.

Jesus Breaks the Seven Seals

Rev 5:5d and (Jesus) to lose the seven seals (6 seals Rev 6:1-17 {7th seal 8:1}) thereof.

1st Seal opened Rev 6:1,2 1st Beast white (false peace) horse (man of sin) is rider on horse, rider has a bow (homo rainbow-flag), Lucifer gives rider a crown (restricted authority), rider goes forth conquering (peace treaties) and to conquer (warfare)

2nd Seal opened Rev 6:3,4 2nd Beast red horse (bloody civil, military, and political battle) power (restricted) is given, by Lucifer, to the rider (man of sin of horse), rider takes peace from earth, people kill one another, Lucifer gives a great sword (restricted military warfare) to rider (man of sin)

3rd Seal opened Rev 6:5,6 3rd Beast black horse (parallels suffering) the rider is the (man of sin) and he has a pair of balances in his hand (restricted demonic control). The Authoritative Jesus in the middle of the Four Seraphim says (participating authority) controlling wheat (farm commodities) for a penny (exchange rate) and three measures of barley (farm commodities) for a penny and Jesus instructs the (man of sin) not to injure the oil (orchard products) or the wine (orchard products).

4th Seal opened Rev 6:7,8 4th Beast pale horse (the man of sin

is the rider with restricted authority) and he is named Death and Hell follows Death. (Lucifer gives the man of sin restricted power) over a 1/4th of the earth.

To kill with the sword (warfare), hunger, (starvation), with death (concentration camps), and with the beasts (evil rulers) of the earth.

5th Seal opened Rev 6:9-11 Jesus Controls Scourge Saints Under the Heavenly Altar the souls (Scourge Saints) murdered for keeping the Word of God and for the testimony (of Jesus the Christ) that they hold. And they (Scourge Saints) cried with a loud voice (authoritative participation) calling Lord Jesus holy and true do you not judge and avenge our blood (murders) on those (idolaters) dwelling on earth. Their white robes (paralleling purity) are given to them (Scourge Saints). And they are told to rest for a little season (until the end of the of the 6th Trumpet 3 ½ years) until their fellow servants and brothers (Tribulation Saints) should be killed (are murdered) as they were, should be fulfilled (completing the Word of Jesus)

6th Seal opened Rev 6:12-17 Jesus Controls A great earthquake; the sun turns pitch black, the moon becomes blood, and the stars streak in all directions to earth. Heaven quickly departs, every mountain and island move around, the kings, politicians, rich, military leaders, warriors, slaves, and free men hide in caves and around the rocks of the mountains. Expecting the caves and rocks to hide them from the Father sitting on the throne-and from the wrath of the Lamb. And they confess the Great Day of the Wrath of the Lamb has arrived and they can’t resist His Authoritative Power.

7th Seal opened Rev 8:1-5 Jesus Controls Silence in heaven for a half an hour, with the Seven Trumpet Angels standing before God, and they receive the Seven Trumpets. An Angel arrives at the Heavenly Altar with a Golden Censer and an Angel gives him a great deal of Incense for him to offer the Incense with the Prayers of the Scourge Saints upon the Golden Altar, that is standing before the Great White Throne. The Incense, Prayers of the Scourge Saints, and fire mix in the Cener held by the Angel in his hand, making ascending smoke before God. Following this the Angel takes the Censer and fills it with Fire from the Heavenly Altar, and casts the mixture upon the earth. And this causes the beginning of the Seven Year Tribulation. With the beginning of the Tribulation there are approving heavenly voices, thundering voices of the Seven Angels standing before God, lightnings from the Great White Throne, and an earthquake on earth.

Who is going to adjudge that God is unjust?

Not at all... rather realising that God is a being who is perfect in all dimensions and degrees.

Such a being... is incapable of imperfection.

Therefore to even think it provable that God could act unjustly, is a categoric error.

.
If your doctrine is unjust than it is not from God.
No one is trying to "proof" God is unjust.

CNN Digs Into Kamala’s 2019 Policy Positions: ‘To The Left Of Bernie Sanders’

Politicians telling voters what they want to here is pretty much how the system works. And candidates proposing extreme policies in the primaries to appeal to the base and then tacking towards the center to try and grab the independent voters is normal.
Mitt Romney once famously referred to that as an "Etch a Sketch" moment.

Psalm 83 War #4

Psa 83:15 KJV "So persecute them with your tempest, and make them afraid with your storm."

Psa 83:15 KJV "So (God) persecute them (confederate Psa 83:2-8) with your (God) tempest, and make them afraid with your (God) storm."

The Tempest and Storm of God
  1. Job 9:17 For he breaks me with a tempest, and multiplies my wounds without cause.
  2. Job 27:21 The east wind carries him away, and he departs: and as a storm hurrles him out of his place. Job 27:22 For God shall cast upon him, and not spare: he would fain flee out of his hand. Job 27:23 Men shall clap their hands at him, and shall hiss him out of his place.
  3. Psa 11:6 Upon the wicked he shall rain snares, fire and brimstone, and an horrible tempest: this shall be the portion of their cup.
  4. Psa 50:3 Our God shall come, and shall not keep silence: a fire shall devour before him, and it shall be very tempestuous round about him.
  5. Psa 83:1 A Song or Psalm of Asaph. Keep not you silence, O God: hold not your peace, and be not still, O God.
  6. Isa 28:17 Judgment also will I lay to the line, and righteousness to the plummet: and the hail shall sweep away the refuge of lies, and the waters shall overflow the hiding place.
  7. Isa 30:30 And the LORD shall cause his glorious voice to be heard, and shall show the lighting down of his arm, with the indignation of his anger, and with the flame of a devouring fire, with scattering, and tempest, and hailstones.
  8. Eze 13:11 Say unto them which daub it with untampered mortar, that it shall fall: there shall be an overflowing shower; and you, O great hailstones, shall fall; and a stormy wind shall rend it. Eze 13:12 Lo, when the wall is fallen, shall it not be said unto you, where is the daubing wherewith you have daubed it? Eze 13:13 Therefore this says the Lord GOD; I will even rend it with a stormy wind in my fury; and there shall be an overflowing shower in mine anger, and great hailstones in my fury to consume it. Eze 13:14 So will I break down the wall that you have daubed with untampered mortar, and bring it down to the ground, so that the foundation thereof shall be discovered, and it shall fall, and you shall be consumed in the midst thereof: and you shall know that I am the LORD.
  9. Heb 12:18 For you are not come unto the mount that might be touched, and that burned with fire, nor unto blackness, and darkness, and tempest, Heb 12:19 And the sound of a trumpet, and the voice of words; which voice they that heard intreated that the word should not be spoken to them any more:

Turning from Shame to Seek the Lord (Isa 14:12-21 Ezek 28:12-19)
  1. Jer 13:23 Can the Ethiopian change his skin, or the leopard his spots? then may you also do good, that are accustomed to do evil. Jer 13:24 Therefore will I scatter them as the stubble that passes away by the wind of the wilderness. Jer 13:25 This is your lot, the portion of your measures from me, says the LORD; because you have forgotten me, and trusted in falsehood. Jer 13:26 Therefore will I discover your skirts upon your face, that your shame may appear. Jer 13:27 I have seen your adulteries, and your neighings (boasting), the lewdness (obscene) of your whoredom (prostitution-filthy lucre), and your abominations (outrage) on the hills in the fields. Woe unto you, O Jerusalem! Will you not be made clean? when shall it once be?
  2. Jer 51:51 We are confounded, because we have heard reproach: shame has covered our faces: for strangers are come into the sanctuaries of the LORD'S house. Jer 51:52 Wherefore, behold, the days come, says the LORD, that I will do judgment upon her graven images: and through all her land the wounded shall groan. Jer 51:53 Though Babylon should mount up to heaven, and though she should fortify the height of her strength, yet from me shall spoilers come unto her, says the LORD.
  3. Eze 7:18 They shall also gird themselves with sackcloth, and horror shall cover them; and shame shall be upon all faces, and baldness upon all their heads.
  4. Neh 3:5 And next unto them the Tekoites repaired; but their nobles put not their necks to the work of their Lord.
  5. Psa 6:10 Let all mine enemies be ashamed and sore vexed: let them return and be ashamed suddenly.
  6. Psa 9:19 Arise, O LORD; let not man prevail: let the heathen be judged in your sight. Psa 9:20 Put them in fear, O LORD: that the nations may know themselves to be but men. Selah.
  7. Psa 5:5 The foolish shall not stand in thy sight: you hate all workers of iniquity.
  8. Isa 55:6 Seek you the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: Isa 55:7 Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. Isa 55:8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, says the LORD. Isa 55:9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. Isa 55:10 For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, and returns not thither, but waters the earth, and makes it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: Isa 55:11 So shall my word be that goes forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

  1. Psa 35:4 Let them be confounded and put to shame that seek after my soul: let them be turned back and brought to confusion that devise my hurt. Psa 35:5 Let them be as chaff before the wind: and let the angel of the LORD chase them. Psa 35:6 Let their way be dark and slippery: and let the angel of the LORD persecute them. Psa 35:7 For without cause have they hid for me their net in a pit, which without cause they have dug for my soul.
  2. Psa 35:25 Let them not say in their hearts, Ah, so would we have it: let them not say, We have swallowed him up. Psa 35:26 Let them be ashamed and brought to confusion together that rejoice at mine hurt: let them be clothed with shame and dishonor that magnify themselves against me.
  3. Psa 40:14 Let them be ashamed and confounded together that seek after my soul to destroy it; let them be driven backward and put to shame that wish me evil. Psa 40:15 Let them be desolate for a reward of their shame that say unto me, Aha, aha. Psa 40:16 Let all those that seek you rejoice and be glad in you: let such as love your salvation say continually, the LORD be magnified.
  4. Psa 109:29 Let my adversaries be clothed with shame, and let them cover themselves with their own confusion, as with a mantle. Psa 109:30 I will greatly praise the LORD with my mouth; yes, I will praise him among the multitude. Psa 70:2 Let them be ashamed and confounded that seek after my soul: let them be turned backward, and put to confusion, that desire my hurt. Psa 83:10 KJV (Psa 83:9 Midianites)"Which perished at Endor: they (Psa 83:9 Midianites) became as dung for the earth."

  1. Jos 17:11 And Manasseh had in Issachar and in (1) Asher Bethshean and (a) her towns, (2) and Ibleam and (a) her towns, (3) and the inhabitants of Dor and (a) her towns, and (4) the inhabitants of Endor and (a) her towns, and (5) the inhabitants of Taanach and (a) her towns, and (6) the inhabitants of Megiddo and (a) her towns, (7) even three countries.
  2. 1Sa 28:7 Then said Saul unto his servants, seek me a woman that has a familiar spirit, that I may go to her, and enquire of her. And his servants said to him, behold, there is a woman that has a familiar spirit at Endor. Read 1Sa 28
Dung of the Earth
  1. 2Ki 9:35 And they went to bury her: but they found no more of her than the skull, and the feet, and the palms of her hands. 2Ki 9:36 Wherefore they came again, and told him. And he said, this is the word of the LORD, which he spoke by his servant Elijah the Tishbite, saying, in the portion of Jezreel shall dogs eat the flesh of Jezebel: 2Ki 9:37 And the carcass of Jezebel shall be as dung upon the face of the field in the portion of Jezreel; so that they shall not say, this is Jezebel.
  2. Jer 8:2 And they shall spread them before the sun, and the moon, and all the host of heaven, whom they have loved, and whom they have served, and after whom they have walked, and whom they have sought, and whom they have worshipped: they shall not be gathered, nor be buried; they shall be for dung upon the face of the earth. Jer 8:3 And death shall be chosen rather than life by all the residue of them that remain of this evil family, which remain in all the places whither I have driven them, saith the LORD of hosts. Isa 31:1 Eph 2:2 children of disobedience
  3. Jer 16:3 For this says the LORD concerning the sons and concerning the daughters that are born in this place, and concerning their mothers that bare them, and concerning their fathers that begat them in this land; Jer 16:4 They shall die of grievous deaths; they shall not be lamented; neither shall they be buried; but they shall be as dung upon the face of the earth: and they shall be consumed by the sword, and by famine; and their carcasses shall be meat for the fowls of heaven, and for the beasts of the earth.
  4. Luk 14:35 It is neither fit for the land, nor yet for the dunghill; but men cast it out. He that has ears to hear, let him hear.
  5. Php 3:8 Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,
  6. Rev 2:20 Notwithstanding I have a few things against you, because you suffer that woman Jezebel, which calls herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols. Rev 2:21 And I gave her space to repent of her fornication; and she repented not. Rev 2:22 Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except they repent of their deeds. Rev 2:23 And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he which searches the reins and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according to your works.
Psa 83:11 KJV "Make their nobles like Oreb, and like Zeeb: yes, all their princes as Zebah, and as Zalmunna:"

Psa 83:11 KJV "Make their nobles like Oreb (Midianite Prince), and like Zeeb (Midianite Prince): yes, all their princes as Zebah, and as Zalmunna:"

Jdgs 7:25 And they took two princes of the Midianites, Oreb and Zeeb; and they slew Oreb upon the rock Oreb, and Zeeb they slew at the winepress of Zeeb, and pursued Midian, and brought the heads of Oreb and Zeeb to Gideon on the other side Jordan.

Zebah and Zalmunna
Jdgs 8:4 And Gideon came to Jordan, and passed over, he, and the three hundred men that were with him, faint, yet pursuing them. Jdgs 8:5 And he said unto the men of Succoth, give, I pray you, loaves of bread unto the people that follow me; for they be faint, and I am pursuing after Zebah and Zalmunna, kings of Midian. Jdgs 8:6 And the princes of Succoth said, are the hands of Zebah and Zalmunna now in your hand, that we should give bread unto your army? Jdgs 8:7 And Gideon said, therefore when the LORD has delivered Zebah and Zalmunna into my hand, then I will tear your flesh with the thorns of the wilderness and with briers. Jdgs 8:8 And he went up thence to Penuel, and spoke unto them likewise: and the men of Penuel answered him as the men of Succoth had answered him. Jdgs 8:9 And he spoke also unto the men of Penuel, saying, when I come again in peace, I will break down this tower. Jdgs 8:10 Now Zebah and Zalmunna were in Karkor, and their hosts with them, about fifteen thousand men, all that were left of all the hosts of the children of the east: for there fell a hundred and twenty thousand men that drew sword. Jdgs 8:11 And Gideon went up by the way of them that dwelt in tents on the east of Nobah and Jogbehah, and smote the host: for the host was secure. Jdgs 8:12 And when Zebah and Zalmunna fled, he pursued after them, and took the two kings of Midian, Zebah and Zalmunna, and discomfited all the host. Jdgs 8:13 And Gideon the son of Joash returned from battle before the sun was up, Jdgs 8:14 And caught a young man of the men of Succoth, and enquired of him: and he described unto him the princes of Succoth, and the elders thereof, even threescore and seventeen men. Jdgs 8:15 And he came unto the men of Succoth, and said, behold Zebah and Zalmunna, with whom you did upbraid me, saying, are the hands of Zebah and Zalmunna now in your hand, that we should give bread unto your men that are weary? Jdgs 8:16 And he took the elders of the city, and thorns of the wilderness and briers, and with them he taught the men of Succoth. Jdgs 8:17 And he beat down the tower of Penuel, and slew the men of the city. Jdgs 8:18 Then said he unto Zebah and Zalmunna, what manner of men were they whom you slew at Tabor? And they answered, As you are, so were they; each one resembled the children of a king. Jdgs 8:19 And he said, they were my brethren, even the sons of my mother: as the LORD lives, if you had saved them alive, I would not slay you. Jdgs. 8:20 And he said unto Jether his firstborn, up, and slay them. But the youth drew not his sword: for he feared, because he was yet a youth. Jdgs 8:21 Then Zebah and Zalmunna said, rise you, and fall upon us: for as the man is, so is his strength. And Gideon arose, and slew Zebah and Zalmunna, and took away the ornaments that were on their camels' necks.

Psa 83:9 KJV "Do unto them (enemy confederate Psa 83:6-8) as unto the Midianites (Arabian Canaanites); as to Sisera (Commander of King Jabin), as to Jabin (King of Hazor), at the brook of Kison (1Kings 18:40 River in northern Israel near city of Haifa flowing into the Mediterranean):"

  • Midianites early Arabic Canaanite tribe, wared with Israelites, descendants of Abraham before selection by God, not under the Abraham Covenant.
The Midianites (Isa 10:26 Isa 28:15-18 Jer 1:13 Parallel of coming Israeli Islam-Idolatry war)
  1. Num 31:7 And they warred against the Midianites, as the LORD commanded Moses; and they slew all the males. Num 31:8 And they slew the kings of Midian, beside the rest of them that were slain; namely, Evi, and Rekem, and Zur, and Hur, and Reba, five kings of Midian: Balaam also the son of Beor they slew with the sword. Num 31:9 And the children of Israel took all the women of Midian captives, and their little ones, and took the spoil of all their cattle, and all their flocks, and all their goods.
  2. Jdgs 7:22 And the three hundred blew the trumpets, and the LORD set every man's sword against his fellow, even throughout all the host: and the host fled to Bethshittah in Zererath, and to the border of Abelmeholah, unto Tabbath. Jdgs 7:23 And the men of Israel gathered themselves together out of Naphtali, and out of Asher, and out of all Manasseh, and pursued after the Midianites. Jdgs 7:24 And Gideon sent messengers throughout all mount Ephraim, saying, come down against the Midianites, and take before them the waters unto Bethbarah and Jordan. Then all the men of Ephraim gathered themselves together, and took the waters unto Bethbarah and Jordan.
  3. Isa 9:4 For you have broken the yoke of his burden, and the staff of his shoulder, the rod of his oppressor, as in the day of Midian.
  4. Isa 10:26 And the LORD of hosts shall stir up a scourge for him according to the slaughter of Midian at the rock of Oreb: and as his rod was upon the sea, so shall he lift it up after the manner of Egypt.
Sisera and King Jabin of Hazor
  • Sisera commander of the Army of the Canaanite King Jabin of Hazor.
Jdgs 4:15 And the LORD discomfited Sisera (Canaanite Commander), and all his chariots, and all his host, with the edge of the sword before Barak (Jewish Commander {with prophet Deborah}); so that Sisera lighted down off his chariot, and fled away on his feet. Jdgs 4:16 But Barak pursued after the chariots, and after the host, unto Harosheth (at the entrance of the pass to Esdraelon from the plain of Acre at the base of Carmel) of the Gentiles: and all the host of Sisera fell upon the edge of the sword; and there was not a man left. Jdgs 4:17 Howbeit Sisera fled away on his feet to the tent of Jael (defeated Jabin’s army) the wife of Heber the Kenite (tribe associated with Jews and Midianites): for there was peace between Jabin the king of Hazor (Jewish and Canaanite city Josh 11:10) and the house of Heber (Jewish north of the sea of Galilee) the Kenite. Jdgs 4:18 And Jael went out to meet Sisera, and said unto him, Turn in, my lord, turn in to me; fear not. And when he had turned in unto her into the tent, she covered him with a mantle. Jdgs 4:19 And he said unto her, Give me, I pray you, a little water to drink; for I am thirsty. And she opened a bottle of milk, and gave him drink, and covered him. Jdgs 4:20 Again he said unto her, Stand in the door of the tent, and it shall be, when any man does come and enquire of you, and say, is there any man here? that you shall say, No. Jdgs 4:21 Then Jael Heber's (1) wife took a nail of the tent, and (2) took an hammer in her hand, (3) and went softly unto him, (4) and smote the nail into his temples, (5) and fastened it into the ground: for he was fast asleep and weary. So he died. Jdgs 4:22 And, behold, as Barak pursued Sisera, Jael came out to meet him, and said unto him, come, and I will show you the man whom you seek. And when he came into her tent, behold, Sisera lay dead, and the nail was in his temples. Jdgs 4:23 So God subdued on that day Jabin the king of Canaan before the children of Israel. Jdgs 4:24 And the hand of the children of Israel prospered, and prevailed against Jabin the king of Canaan, until they had destroyed Jabin king of Canaan.

Dealing with spouses additions and depression

Of course you are.

You are not perfect, so you are, simply as a matter of inevitability, doing something wrong.

Therefore, stop asking that question and start asking a more fruitful question(s). For example, the word "wrong" can have to meanings, one more and one efficacious. The question, "Have I done something that is immoral?" is a MUCH different question than, "Have I done something that is ineffective?" The first question is going to bring on guilt and shame and guilt and shame rarely help anyone solve a problem objectively or effectively. The second question can facilitate a goal-oriented response and that might contribute to improving the many problems existing within you and your marriage. Your wife's problems are not yours to solve. Thinking you can or should solve her problems may be one of the things you've done wrong ;). That's not a moral wrong, though. That is an ineffective wrong, not a moral wrong.

Think of it this way: the popular tele-counselor Dr. Phil often asks his victim's ;) a very simple question. He asks them a bunch of questions and lets them tell their stories, and as they do so the audience increasingly sees the inanity of the game show participant's life. When the obviousness of the inanity reaches a critical point Dr. Phil springs the infamous question, "Why's that working for you?" And, of course, the other person has that momentary introspective look and answers, "I guess it's not."

In all the many years I was a counselor I rarely happened upon a client who did not already know if and when their behavior was immoral. No one needs to be told yelling epithets at a spouse is morally wrong. No one needs to be told rape, battery, theft, etc. are morally wrong. A few, occasionally, need that explained to them but most of counseling has absolutely nothing to do with morality. They better question is always "How is what you are currently doing helping you achieve your goals?" or "How is what you are currently doing help you achieve the life you would like to obtain?"

The answers to those questions mean you must first know what your goals are.

If you do not know where you are going, then you most definitely will not get there :). It's not rocket science, but the simplicity and value of that principle often escapes people. If you're moralizing, then stop it. On the occasion that you do err morally the prescription is very plain and already known: apologize! Or, if you're interested in a more thorough response the confess the wrongdoing, purpose not to repeat the behavior and replace it with more godly alternatives, make amends wherever possible and ask for forgiveness (and receive it when given). You already know this. On the occasion you try something that does not work then, again, the prescription is readily available: chalk it up to an ineffective action, something that didn't get you where you wanted to go and try something else.

Guard your mind against "Nothing I do will ever make a difference!" and train yourself to say, "Well, that didn't work as well as I thought i might so let me try something else."

1 Corinthians 10:23
All things are permitted, but not all things are of benefit. All things are permitted, but not all things build people up.

Moralizing yourself into guilt, shame, and remorse is permitted, but it is not very beneficial and does not edify you. Accepting the fact that you, me, your wife, Ricky, Lucy, Bert, Ernie, and everyone else is a sinner is a reality that everyone should accept. Once accepted, the power the Christian has facing sin to overcome it in the otherwise ordinary circumstances of life can be enormously empowering.

Set some goals. Set a few easily accomplished ones that prospectively will move you toward solving the problems alluded to in the op OR moving you, personally, toward a position where you are better able to do so. Set some moderately distant goals and set some goals that are more over-arching and will take time to accomplish. Work them all a little at a time. Review them periodically to 1) measure progress and 2) make adjustments wherever needed (because mistakes will be made).
thank you

Devotion

I'm curious to hear what people have to say about the things they are devoted to: sports, family, job, hobby, etc. I'd also be curious to hear what motivates that devotion.

Of course, there are similarities and dissimilarities between such devotion and Christian faith, and yes, we can discuss those as well. But I'm not interested in arguments striving to claim that such similarities prove a subconscious desire for the spiritual.

Me? Devoted. Devoted. What does that mean? ... whatever it actually means in degree and application, I'd say I'm devoted to my family and my books, and a daily dose of motivational music. Sometimes, I watch a bit of sports or a favorite sci-fi t.v. show.

I'm just a simple, analytically oriented nerd who loves his family. And who strives to follow Jesus as best I can...

... What about you, J.B. ?? What's your locus of interests and devotion?

Worries about heaven?

Question. What does plurality mean?
It means more than one.

Successive ages or unique concurrent ages?
Successive.

Or both somehow?
Could be.

What is the point of the Lord building our character here?
Good question.

We are destined for Heaven anyways. Well one of the obvious reasons is to become more Christ-like, which I would imagine enables us to bear greater fruit for the Kingdom, which gives us satisfaction in our work. Who doesn't appreciate incremental promotions to a closer walk with God and resulting responsibilities to love others? Otherwise, WE become stagnant and bored. And incidentally in that process, God's pruning is incredibly effective.
Right. That's the process of sanctification. Check out How to grow in faith

Already, in photos and videos and what-not, we can't believe everything we see. No worries though, WE won't be deceived, because we continually fix our gaze upon the Truth Himself.
Amen.

I sincerely agree that the possibilities of advancement in all aspects of existence in the next life, are gonna blow our minds - especially as God is pleased to reveal a wee bit at a time to motivate us. Who needs man's forms of entertainment when we have His? Perpetual joy indeed.
Amen, brother :)
