  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Newsome calls out Trump for making up stories again...

‘Take your dementia meds, grandpa’: Newsom takes aim at Trump over ‘lie’ about California’s wildfire rebuild

Newsom has taken to using Trump-style social media digs as he spars with the Republican president
“How unfair is that to the people that have suffered so much!” Trump continued. “Newscum allowed their houses to burn by not accepting Hundreds of Millions of Gallons of Water from the Pacific Northwest, and now, the Low Income Housing starts rising long before he gets Permits for California Citizens to rebuild, but long after the Federal Permits were issued.”
...
“Take your dementia meds, grandpa,” the governor’s office wrote on X. “You are making things up again.”
...
The post from Newsom’s office claimed Trump’s message had at least five lies, saying there was no new state effort to build low-income housing in the Palisades and water from the Pacific Northwest doesn’t even reach California hydrants. The governor’s office added that the city and county of Los Angeles have approved nearly 900 rebuilding permits, while there’s no such thing as a federal housing permit.

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass had a similar take, responding to Trump’s diatribe with a one-word post on X: “Lies.”

Bad time for Donald Trump, whose approval rate dropped to 39% in the last You/Gov Poll:

Trump approval falls to new second-term low

  • 39% of Americans strongly or somewhat approve of Donald Trump's job performance as president, while 57% disapprove
    • The 39% of Americans who approve of Trump is the lowest share to do so in any weekly Economist / YouGov Poll in Trump's second term
    • The 57% who disapprove is the most to do so in Trump's second term

JB Pritzker Claims He Has Never Called Republicans ‘Nazis’ – Gets Proven Wrong by Videos of His Own Words

Do you agree that there's a difference between these two statements?

1. Republicans are Nazis!

2. These specific people (who happen to be Republicans), are doing these specific things that look a lot like these other specific things that the Nazis did.

ABC pulls Jimmy Kimmel Live after comments on Charlie Kirk

The Magadonians were in charge of Kimmel's show?

No, the Magadonians run the FCC and some of the blocks of ABC affiliates that air his show. The CEO of NextStar (largest tv station owner in the country), Perry Sook, while not being as political as some has donated almost exclusively to Republicans.

The second-largest owner of tv stations in the country, Sinclair Broadcasting, came out strenuously against Kimmel and are very very much in the Magadonian camp. They're hq'ed in Baltimore County, so they pop up in my feeds a lot.

What doesn't deserve to be canceled is political opinions or moral stances that do not encourage or celebrate murder, terrorism or political violence.

That's great, because Kimmel's comments didn't celebrate murder. They were about Republicans and Trump, not Kirk. Prior to this show, he'd condemned the murder and expressed condolences to the family.

We thank you for teaching it to us. Now it belongs to us.
It's more like we're bringing it back home.

The Trump DOJ goes "woke" and will target free speech.

Do you believe that there of the far left in the US? How many and how do they vote?
The far left didn't vote for Harris, which is why Trump won. They thought she was too conservative with her prosecutorial record.
The far left has been part of the Democratic Party for a century.
Their platform has never been far left.

A conversation about unity.

But even the orthodox, you know, the other orthodox sects, disagree, legitimately so.

Actually the doctrine of the Orthodox Church (we are not sects) is very nearly identical to that of the Roman Catholic Church. We believe the Catholic Church, which we know includes us, and which might include others, since we don’t claim to know where the Church is not, posesses the fullness of the truth.

One minor difference might be that since schisms have on occasion occurred and been resolved, for example, among the Eastern Orthodox, ROCOR was briefly canonically isolated from the other canonical churches, and likewise among the Oriental Orthodox the Armenians were out of cumminion with the Syriac Orthodox, and probably the Copts, for a few centuries, there is no definite answer on who was in the wrong during a schism. The Roman Church has had schisms, most notably the Great Western Schism (that sounds like a railway) during the Avignon Papacy, but in those, correct me if I’m wrong @Xeno.of.athens - there is generally an established Pope vs. antipope or antipopes in the case of the aformentioned Great Western Schism, but I would assume the laity in parish churches not intending to participate in a schism whose worship remains the same are not viewed as being seriously endangered, since they are not knowingly engaged in schismatic activity - rather that would require a situation where the schism was obvious to the laity, such as with the Presbyterians vs. Catholics in Scotland.

Another difference relates to the same issue, and that is that most Orthodox other than the Ecumenical Patriarchate do not regard Orthodoxy as depending on being in communion with a particular church (and historically, neither has most of tne EP, but the current Archbishop of North America does seem to take such a view).

However in general the idea of unity remains the same, also the idea of apostolic succession, although the Eastern Orthodox use the model of Apostolic Succession of St. Cyprian of Carthage rather than that of another more famous bishop in North Africa, St. Augustine of Hippo, that means only Orthodox bishops can confer Apostolic Succession; I do not know if this applies to the Oriental Orthodox or the Assyrian Church of the East or the Ancient Church of the East; the latter two have the complication of having endured centuries of an hereditary Patriarchate in which one nephew, usually the younger, of the Catholicos of the East would inherit his uncle’s role, while the elder would be responsible for continuing the patriarchal family - this was uncanonical, a violation of the apostolic canons which preclude a bishop from appointing his successor, and contributed to the schism between the Assyrian Church of the East and the Ancient Church of the East.

Eric Trump on Charlie Kirk’s Legacy and the Radical Left – “This Could Have Been the Greatest Mistake These People Have Ever Made” (VIDEO)

The extreme left hated him as well. But left-wing extremists are much less likely to shoot people they hate.
It seems ironic that SOME leftist have glowed with joy over Charlie Kirk’s murder. Many were rightfully fired. Bottom line it was evil that caused Kurk’s . With SOME leftist supporting the murder I’ll let you do the math.

Limited atonement !

Yeah, just ignore the context of John 3:16 then if you insist. John 3:19 shows that those in spiritual darkness are included in the world that God so loves that He gave His only Son so that WHOSOEVER believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life. God graciously offers salvation to all people (Titus 2:11) and nothing you say can refute that. You just believe what you want to believe. You cherry pick scripture and take it out of context. It's sad to see.
I am a strong believer of the TULIP doctrine: Total Depravity, Unconditional Election, Limited Atonement, Irresistible Grace, and the Perseverance of the Saints.

The primary challenge associated with TULIP lies not in its doctrinal content, but rather in the terminology—words such as "Election," "chosen," and "limited" may inadvertently portray attributes of God that do not accurately reflect His nature. Individuals who are unfamiliar with TULIP might interpret terms such as "chosen," "Election," or "limited" to mean that proponents believe God does not love everyone, wishes to save only a select few, and is limited in His ability to offer salvation. This perspective, however, does not represent the beliefs of those who affirm Limited Atonement. God's grace is not confined to certain individuals; God desires all people to be saved, a principle consistently affirmed throughout scripture, which attests to God's universal love for creation.

Nevertheless, within this theological framework, it is understood that God possesses foreknowledge of who will accept His Son and thereby receive eternal life, even before the foundation of the world. Accordingly, God sent His Son to atone for the sins of those who would ultimately accept Him. The atonement, therefore, is not understood as a payment for the sins of all humanity indiscriminately, but specifically for those who would embrace Christ. Whether these individuals are referred to as "chosen," "special," "elected," or simply "people of the world," the essential point remains: God's omniscience enables Him to know in advance who will accept His Son, and the redemptive work of Christ is directed towards them.

New belief among teenagers. What do you think?

So, my question is, do we really as a society want to encourage and coddle this delusional lifestyle where grown people have social problems because of this fad/trend? Here's one that got me. A person had their ears made pointed (plastic surgery) so they would look like an elf. This self expression is wrong and it should not be encouraged and it is totally bizarre that the medical and psychiatric fields have nothing intelligent to say about it. Their attitude seems to be, "let them do what they want, they aren't harmful". Really?!!!
Getting plastic surgery to resemble an elf is extreme. However, the percentage of fantasy fans who do so is negligible. Furry is an offshoot of the science fiction fandom that overlaps with the fantasy fandom. Enjoying science fiction or fantasy doesn't mean you want to become Frodo Baggins or Captain Janeway. It doesn't even necessarily mean you want to roleplay as a fictional character. Some do and some don't. There isn't one unified furry lifestyle much like there isn't one unified fantasy or science fiction fan lifestyle.

Furries tend to be imaginative people. Many of whom are creative in fields like art and technology. We need to decouple this from unhealthy behavior. Some are healthy and some are unhealthy. A furry with psychological problems is a human being who needs help. The others are about as harmful as the typical healthy person. That's why the medical and psychiatric establishments don't have much to say about them. Anthropomorphic animal characters were popular long before the fandom became a thing and liking them isn't a disorder.

How is the Economy Doing Right Now?

I heard a discussion saying that Sherwin-Williams ending their 401k price matching was a sign our economy is much worse off than is truly known. They did the same during covid, though.
I had an employer do that years ago, but they'll likely reinstate it within a year or two.

Sabbatarianism

The Sabbath is the 7th day (that has never changed). The 1st day of the week is the day Yeshua resurrected from the dead. I HAVE studied all of this for MANY years. You are stuck on the 3 days and 3 nights quote.

Yes, I am stuck on what the Lord's Christ actually said in the Holy Scriptures.

You seem to forget Yeshua also said "in 3 days" and he would rise "on the 3rd day".

Friday night, the 6th day of the week, to Sunday morning before the sun comes up is not 3 days in any stretch of the imagination.

3 days and 3 nights is from the story of Yonah. He was comparing it to that story.

Yes, Jonah wasn't in the Whales belly for 1.5 days, rather, for 3 days and 3 nights.

You also seem to forget the eyewitnesses on the road to Emmaus speaking to Yeshua said it was now the 3rd day since these events occurred.

Yes, 3 days.

It PLAINLY says it was the 1st day of the week.

It says Mary came to the grave on the first day of the week. There was no comma's in the earliest transcripts.
So counting back, he would have died on the 6th day,

Friday evening then, according to you. So that means Mary went to town and purchased spices and ointments on God's Sabbath. But wait, what does the scriptures actually say.

1 And when the sabbath "was past", Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, had bought sweet spices, that they might come and anoint him.

What Sabbath was this? It had to be after HE was placed in the grave.

There were 2 Sabbaths that week, the 15th day of the first Month, the First Day of Unleavened Bread, is a High Sabbath, and the weekly Sabbath of God, Saturday. Mary purchased spices between the 2 Sabbaths. Jesus died on Wednesday and was placed in the heart of the earth just before sundown, which began the High Sabbath of the First Day of Unleavened Bread. Mary rested according to this Feast of the Lord, and following this Sabbath, which was on a Thursday that week, she went and purchased spices and prepared them to anoint Jesus, on Friday. Then she rested according to God's Commandment on His Holy Weekly Sabbath, and when the sun went down, she went to the grave. She didn't take a Taxi, she probably walked. How far did she have to walk? Well she got there before the sun came up on Sunday morning and HE was already Risen.

This account in not contradicted by any scripture.

resting in the tomb on Shabbat, rising after sunset (which was the 1st day of the week).

"But Jesus answered them, My Father worketh hitherto, and I work."

Do you believe it's a Sin to raise someone from the dead on God's Sabbaths? According to Catholic tradition, the only day Jesus spent in the heart of the earth, was Saturday. Scriptures do not bear this out, but I know how powerful religious traditions of the world are, and why Jesus warned against them, especially those traditions of men who call Him Lord, Lord.

You rightly say Yeshua was killed on the 14th. We know that day was the 6th day of the week.

No, the Good Friday, Easter Sunday tradition, both man-made high days, might promote this doctrine. But such a doctr4ine contradicts Jesus' Own Words. Try and read the event with a mindset of those in that time who honored and respected God's Statutes and Judgments.

In your adopted tradition, Mary went to town on God's Sabbath, purchased spices and ointments, prepared them to anoint Jesus, but waited until after the Sabbath to walk to the grave with the spices. How does that make any sense.

Like I said, we were both born into a world, just like Jesus was, in which a religious system, with their own traditions and judgments exist. But when a person reads all that is written, these traditions of the RCC do not add up.

So Wednesday is an impossibility.

Only if a person is working to justify ancient Catholic Tradition of Good Friday and Easter Sunday. But God's Church didn't abide by these worldly traditions. They followed God's Word, as Jesus taught them.

14th day of Nisan, Wednesday that year, Jesus was killed and placed in the grave before Sundown, which started the High Sabbath of the First Day of Unleavened bread. Which was Thursday. On Friday, Mary went to town, purchased spices and went home and prepared them to anoint Jesus. She rested again, on the Weekly Sabbath, Saturday. After sundown on Saturday, she carried her spices and walked to the Grave, getting there "while it was yet dark", and Jesus was already risen.

Thursday, Friday, Saturday = 3 days.

Wednesday night, Thursday Night, Friday Night, = 3 Nights.

Just as the Jesus "of the Bible" Prophesied.

Thursday is possible ONLY if you use exclusive counting...which the Scriptures never do. Also, while it was still dark when Mary arrived would have been the 1st day of the week. After sunset on the sabbath is the 1st day of the week.

And also the First Day of Unleavened bread. In your adopted religious philosophy, both the Weekly Sabbath and the First Day of Unleavened bread, had to have fallen on Saturday. Which means Mary went to town and purchased spices on both the weekly Sabbath, and the Holy Feast Day. But considered it a sin to walk to the grave on Saturday.

It doesn't make any sense, and is only promoted by those who are trying to justify ancient Catholic Tradition.

So day 6 was the 1st day, day 7 (Shabbat) was the 2nd day and the 1st day of the week was day 3...he rose ON THE 3RD DAY just as He said. Yeshua kept Shabbat while he rested in the tomb. So yes, there ARE many scriptures that contradict your scenario...

Think about you own post here. Jesus was placed in the grave in the Evening, just before Sundown. Or even if we use your doctrine and say HE was placed in the ground after sundown. Either way, Friday was over, yet you must count it to justify the Catholic High day, "Good Friday". And using your tradition, He would have risen in the middle of the Night, even before the sun came up on Sunday, which had just started. To believe you, I would have to reject Jesus Words concerning how many day and nights HE spent in the heart of the earth, "BECAUSE" of the Catholic Tradition, not because of what is actually written.

In what scenario can you promise to work for someone for 3 days, then show up Friday Night at sundown, and leave after Saturday Night after sundown?

I know how powerful religious tradition and philosophy is. Men killed Jesus believing they were serving God. What I hope to do here, is show you what is actually written, and further the idea of testing the spirits, and to "beware of the leaven" of the mainstream religions of this world we were born into.

Thanks for engaging in the matter, I hope you might be moved to consider that there were 2 Sabbaths that week, and Friday fell between them.

There’s a Giant Flaw in Human History

I agree, but its getting it to go round and round really steady and then have a cutting arm that is fixed and not human held. In other words a mechanical arm that is similar to CNC cutting ie

Or maybe. Something that can change angles and move in and out without any change or deviation. A freehand would cause many deviations.

I don't know how true this is but a comparison was done that to achieve the precision in the vase it would be like drawing a perfectly straight 10 metre line by hand to within a couple of hairs of being perfectly straight.

But I think it would be harder than just drawing a line. You would have to do it in the hardest stones. Not just a line but near perfect spheres, cones, arcs and circles in granite by hand.
The strongest element of your thesis, that shines through each post, is personal incredulity. It's not a good look and a weak foundation for an argument.

Former Pink Floyd member Roger Waters faces possible prosecution after supporting banned Palestine Action

I won't need to because you will find out in a few years...look up dhimmi, jizya, ahkam, wakaf, taqiyya, and others...Muslims like to say, by 2050 the UK and France will be majority Islam. This is all mainly from mass immigration (hijra) and extreme high birth rates among muslims and very low birth rates the non-muslims there.

There are 4 stages of Islam:
1. Infiltration
2. Consolidation of power
3. Open war with leadership and culture
4. Totalitarian Islamic Theocracy
These are all right-wing anti-immigration/anti-Islamic talking points and have no basis in reality.

Trump to designate antifa a 'major terrorist organization'

If Trump were serious about combating domestic terrorism and political violence in this country, he would also go after groups like the Proud Boys, Boogaloo Movement, Three Percenters, and Oath Keepers, which have been far more violent than Antifa in recent years.

Other than street brawls with ANTIFA, can you provide any examples of the Proud Boys attacking political figures?

Transcript of Kirk's killer's messages has been revealed

Who'd they murder? Someone get hanged on that?
In case you missed it, the post to which I was responding said this:

"...if I discovered that my party celebrated murdering political opponents too"

The key part here is the celebrating. That noose, and the people chanting around it, absolutely were celebrating the murdering of a political opponent. That the murder was merely anticipated and, arguably, attempted doesn't make this any less of a celebration of murder and political violence.

Trump to designate antifa a 'major terrorist organization'

Raids? That’s for car wash employees and day laborers, not international terrorist organizations. Are you guys even serious about this? It doesn’t seem like it.
Well, I guess you will never believe it then. Some would call that just plain denial.

Water and metabolism of humans

Since little of the nitrogen, which makes up 78% of the air, is recycled, we are breathing in molecules that have been around since early Earth history. Statistically there are likely to be molecules you are breathing in now that were previosuly breathed in by dinosaurs, Julius Caeser, the neighbour down the road who hosts noisy parties and anyone else, or breathing thing, you may care to think of. There is one obvious candidate that I would imagine would appeal, in a reflective way, to a Christian.

Edit: On the recycling of water, much (most?) of the water present in volcanic eruptions (typically 4%) got there via subduction of water laden sediments into the mantle and its subsequent incorporation in magma melts.

Take a stand on political violence

So if someone is abusing their wife, controlling her life, dictating what she can.and can't do, controlling where she goes and when and who she meets without physically harming her then we shouldn't be concerned.
Correct. Assuming he or she is free to stay or leave that situation without physical repercussion, in which case, the violent party should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
If an adult had a problem as regards their gender then it's literally nothing whatsoever to do with you. As you say, it doesn't harm you. So just move on, thanks very much.
You're right, it has nothing to do with me, but it also has nothing to do with other left-leaning non-trans people who argue about the use of pronouns. When they speak up, and make a fuss, it involves everyone then.
