I was a lazy student. I didn't like memorizing multiplication tables, and would look for a "dodge" to get around it. For a computation aid, there were grids of numbers with columns and rows marked from 1 to 12 and the intersection point the product of the row and column number. That was banned in class, of course, but didn't prevent me from making my own. How did a kid who didn't know his multiplication tables make one? By simply adding. Idea was to have one available on the sly.

The end result was that it slowed me down in math. Even when the table was available, it was slower than remembering the produce of 12 x 12 is 144. It got so bad that I bought a drug store slide rule and taught myself how to use that simply to do multiplication. That would later help when we got to scientific notation and work with exponents, but right then it didn't help me in class because, like the table, it wasn't allowed.

End result was that by the time I buckled down and memorized the tables, it had affected my ability to do mental math. To this day I find it easier to mentally work the problems as fractions if I can. One side effect of being slow with mental math is checking the results of a calculator or spreadsheet or even the tally of a receipt. You can do it, but it's like an ox plodding along.

What's so bad is I now encounter people who now find it difficult to make change. Have you ever seen Support Your Local Outlaw, where James Garner tells Jack Elam "I'm slow, but you're slower?" That's the situation here. They never played Monopoly?

I carry a cheap solar powered scientific calculator in my shirt pocket. Granted it's like carrying around a pocket edition of trig and log tables, but when I'm figuring something like gas mileage, guess what I reach for.

Yes, something a simple as pocket calculators has an impact. Been there, done that, and wore out the souvenir tee shirt.

You can just pass anyone off as a false prophet as soon as they say they heard from some entity that the date is such and such ( this case the most recent being the 23rd). Just conclude right then and there that they are false. This year was the worst outpouring of false prophets and people being sucked into it I've ever seen in my 75 years of life ! At the same time, a faithful Christian should be hanging on to the hope of Jesus' return someday.

My encounters with AI are spotty and mixed. Have seen someone use it to make a simple sign for a pressure washer. That's a "Dude, really?" instance. Have also had an encounter recently that gave me pause due to the ramifications where an AI solved a simple math word problem. The whole point of word problems is applying what you learned to things you might encounter. You learn to sort through the information that is pertinent to the problem and ignore the rest. Saw the AI solve it instantly. I can practically guarantee any kid with access to a computer or smart phone would have the AI do the homework, thus not practicing how to apply what was taught.

Then was told that the grade level had solar powered calculators rather than working out the math themselves.

The Earth was without form. That is a given, because the water was present before its creation. The Hebrew words tohu and bohu refer to the Earth. They do not refer to the waters
It is reasonable to infer that water in a vacuum with no light, and therefore not heat existed as a large ball of ice.
God creates ex nihilo, which is out of nothing, because He is the creator. He does not bring order out of chaos, as He is not a referee. He is who was, now is, and is to come, the Almighty. He creates good, and sin brought chaos.

I understand what you are trying to say, but those thoughts come from the societal programming that say we need to look at Genesis as allegory and not fact. I propose Genesis as fact and not allegory. Actually , the more we discover about science, the less that the Big Bang with evolution story makes sense. It takes more of a leap of faith to believe it than resting in God’s truth

Much of what is science hinges on narrative or what could be termed, “spinning yarns around the camp fire” if we stay ignorant, it seems plausible, but the more we look deeply into the data available to us about life and the universe, the less it becomes it seems reasonable

So did it pass through a lot of other humans and animals previously? It might have, or maybe. But is there anything remaining from those other humans or animals in the water you're made up of, or the water you are consuming? More than likely never, more than likely. Oh I'm not. End times will happen. Jesus will return one day - could be in 10 minutes, 10 weeks or 10 years.
For nearly 2000 years people have been speaking of, and looking ahead to, end times - it started with the Apostles. A few hundred years later people started giving specific dates. They have all been wrong.
This, to me, just shows the truth of Jesus' words that no one knows the day or hour.
Of course, most people have an elaborate explanation of why and how they came to be wrong. Harold Camping was "astonished" that it didn't happen as he had said it would, but then claimed that a spiritual 2nd coming had happened on his predicted date and the real thing would be 6 months later. It wasn't.

Why?
If God wants us to know something, and do something, he will tell us, clearly. Like, for example, when Jesus said "no one knows the day of hour" and told several parables about being ready.
God doesn't play games - hide dates, visions or revelations in Scripture and then say, "off you go; you can find them if you're clever enough."

If the date of his coming WAS hidden in the prophetic word, that would contradict Jesus' words about nobody knowing.
It would contradict his teaching that if the owner of the house had known what time the thief was coming, he would have been alert and ready.
It would contradict his parables about a bridegroom taking longer to appear than people thought, and servants who got lazy and careless because the master was a long time returning from his journey.

How likely is it that God would contradict Jesus?

Well they were and have been.
The early church did not offer daily sacrifices. The Jews probably stopped doing so after the temple was destroyed. Plenty of people eat kosher, and halal, meat - but it is a butcher who does the necessary preparations, not a priest.

Even 50 years ago, when we had a Jew come and talk to our Christian youth group, Jews were not performing daily sacrifices and "God forbid" (his words) that they should ever start again. Though he conceded there were some fundamentalists who would welcome it.

I've already said - and you gave no answer - that 2 Thess was written by Paul, who died before the temple was destroyed.

So 2 Thessalonians 2:4 mentions the temple. It doesn't say that this refers to the third temple which will be built - by Christians - x number of years after the second is destroyed.

The two parts of your post seem to me to contradict each other. Maybe I have misunderstood you, but you seem to start by saying that Revelation teaches that the devil will be tormented forever. But then you say, "Even Satan may not face eternal torment." Unless you are saying that the devil and Satan are two different beings, how can he face eternal torment without being tormented forever?

All water gets filtered/purified to the point that there are just the basic compositional elements left, and as long as it's clean water, it could be some of the same atoms maybe, but everything else gets filtered out generally.

I learned about water purification when I got into prepping, and emergency preparedness, so while it's possible that some water could contain some of the basic compositional elements from those other sources (maybe) it doesn't really matter, because all basic compositional elements are all the exact same at their core.

Generally, an .1 micron water filter is sufficient for most water sources in the world, to filter out all bacteria (that are larger than that, and therefore cannot pass through that kind of membrane) but to filter out just about everything (viruses) and just leave you with just the waters basic elements, then a .02 micron filter will filter out just about everything, since most of the smallest viruses are no smaller than .025 in size generally.

(Edit, some internet sources are saying .01 micron filter filters out everything, but my point is that everything exchanges the same basic elements (atoms, and other elements) all of the time, and with what the earth does with most water (and what humans do, and can do when filtering water) everything is filtered out always, and everything always shares and exchanges the same basic physical and chemical elements all of the time, but nothing besides that is remaining most of the time). (And they all might have exchanged or been changed into a lot of different forms over time also, before being turned back into water again sometimes).

True, but formless and void don't mean chaotic. The idea that a God of order would create a chaotic earth doesn't make sense.
