  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

ABC pulls Jimmy Kimmel Live after comments on Charlie Kirk

Flat out? No, he didn't; he implied that the one who did it,
No it wasnt an implication. It was an accusation.

“We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them.

Thats an accusation. Stop deflecting.
Yeah, you have an unfortunate habit of accusing people of dishonesty, which is the least charitable interpretation, ruling out mistaken, for instance. This indicates projection.
Lol, no it doesn't. When you purposely leave stuff out in order to make it sound like so.ething else its disingenuous at best and dishonest at worst.

I might cut him some slack if I havent been reading his posts forever.
Have you read Donald's posts? You must have, by now, heard that Brendon Carr, who wears a Trump-face lapel pin, threatened Disney/ABC.
Trump is entitled to his opinion. Carr didn't threaten anyone. You are being disingenuous again.

What exactly did he threaten them with? What was he going to do to them?
Kimmel shouldn't have implied with such certainty that the shooter was "one of them" but I have no reason to think that he didn't believe it was true at the time.
Baloney. To come out with that definitive a statement without actually knowing is a flat out lie. Kimmel is a hard core leftist who hates conservatives. Anyone who thought this was maga involved is as stupid as they come. And to blame them is, well I dont know what to say.

We all knew in a VERY short period of time what was left behind and this was a leftist.

Donald's response?
Nice deflection. Rhis is about Kimmel.

This is the scariest verse in the bible for believers

Yes, the command is to go into the World.

How we do this is up for discussion.

However according to John 17 it is when the world sees the unity among believers that they will be drawn to Christ.

Such a unity to be visible to the world must be a healthy family or community of believers.

Almost all of church activities are in buildings instead of where they might be visible to all.

Worship in the town square might be a good move.

We used to do street drama to convey the Gospel...
I agree that visible unity among believers is powerful, and I love the idea of reaching people outside the church building. But imagine the impact if many Christians were united in boldly proclaiming the Gospel, just as in Acts 2. When large numbers of people are speaking the truth about Christ with one voice, it naturally sparks curiosity and draws attention. People see that something significant is happening, and it can lead them to investigate for themselves.
Unity in evangelism amplifies the message; our collective witness becomes a public testimony that God is at work among His people. Acts shows that this kind of coordinated proclamation, empowered by the Holy Spirit, is what leads to genuine conversions, not just impressive displays or good works alone.

Kimmel is Back

POTUS says more falsehoods than this every day. I think it's more than a bit odd that the right wants to muzzle a talk show host for one comment while it turns its collective head over many more falsehoods and untoward statements made by POTUS. That's a real head scratcher.
You’ve got the wrong person. I think Kimmel should be able to say anything he wants. And I think the broadcasters can choose whether or not to air it.

When You Have Done the Will of God

“But remember the former days, when, after being enlightened, you endured a great conflict of sufferings, partly by being made a public spectacle through reproaches and tribulations, and partly by becoming sharers with those who were so treated. For you showed sympathy to the prisoners and accepted joyfully the seizure of your property, knowing that you have for yourselves a better possession and a lasting one. Therefore, do not throw away your confidence, which has a great reward. For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God, you may receive what was promised.
“For yet in a very little while,
He who is coming will come, and will not delay.
But My righteous one shall live by faith;
And if he shrinks back, My soul has no pleasure in him.
But we are not of those who shrink back to destruction, but of those who have faith to the preserving of the soul.” (Hebrews 10:32-39 NASB1995)

All throughout the New Testament writings we are taught that our salvation from sin, which is God’s gift to us, and which is not of our own flesh, is conditional upon us dying to sin, by the Spirit, and us walking (in conduct) in obedience to our Lord and to his commands. For Jesus gave his life up for us on that cross to put our sins to death with him so that, by God-persuaded faith in him, we will now die to sin and walk in obedience to our Lord in the power and wisdom of God, as we yield control of our lives over to God.

And we are taught that if we go on sinning, and if sin remains our practice, and not obedience to our Lord and to his commands, that we will not inherit eternal life with God, regardless of what our lips have professed. So our salvation is not based on lip service only, and it is not this one-time thing that takes place in our lives which guarantees us heaven when we die, but regardless of how we live. Our salvation is progressive sanctification which we must continue in to the end for us to have heaven as our destiny.

[Matthew 10:22; John 8:31-32; John 15:1-12; Romans 8:24; Romans 11:17-24; Romans 13:11; 1 Corinthians 1:18; 1 Corinthians 15:1-2; Colossians 1:21-23; 2 Timothy 1:8-9; 2 Timothy 2:10-13; Hebrews 3:6,14-15; Hebrews 9:28; 1 Peter 1:5,9; 2 Peter 1:5-11; 1 John 2:24-25]

Now some people will call this legalism, or they will call it “works salvation,” but it is neither of those, if taught in the correct biblical context. What this describes is biblical salvation, which was taught by Jesus and by his New Testament apostles. Yes, we do nothing to earn or to deserve our own salvation, but we need to know what biblical salvation is, for it is us being delivered out of our slavery (addiction) to sin so that, by the grace of God, and in his power, we will now walk in obedience to our Lord’s commands.

[Matthew 7:13-14,21-23; Luke 9:23-26; John 1:12-13; John 6:44; John 10:27-30; Acts 26:18; Romans 1:18-32; Romans 2:5-10; Romans 3:23; Romans 6:1-23; Romans 8:1-14; 1 Corinthians 10:1-22; Galatians 5:16-24; Ephesians 2:8-10; Ephesians 4:17-32; Ephesians 5:3-6; Titus 2:11-14; Hebrews 3:1-19; Hebrews 4:1-13; Hebrews 10:19-39; Hebrews 12:1-2; 1 Peter 2:24; 1 John 1:1-10; 1 John 2:3-6; 1 John 3:4-10]

So many people today are teaching a false gospel of salvation absent of biblical repentance (turning from sin to obey God), and without God’s requirements that we now put sin to death in our lives, not just once, but daily, by the Spirit, and that we walk (in conduct, with purpose) in obedience to our Lord and to his commands, in practice. And so we have a large number of people professing faith in Jesus whose lives are not much different from those who do not believe in Jesus, for sin is still their practice.

But the whole purpose of our salvation and our walks of faith is that we no longer walk in sin deliberately and habitually, but that we now walk in obedience to our Lord and to his commands, in following our Lord wherever he leads us in being who he wants us to be, and in doing what he has called us to do, and in being his witnesses who live the gospel, in practice, and who are sharing the true biblical message of the gospel with the people of the world for their salvation from sin and for their hope of eternal life with God.

“For if we go on sinning willfully after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, but a terrifying expectation of judgment and the fury of a fire which will consume the adversaries.” (Hebrews 10:26-27 NASB1995)

For Jesus Christ taught that to come to him we must deny self, take up our cross daily (die daily to sin), and follow (obey) him. For if we hold on to living in sin and for self, we will lose our lives for eternity. But if we deny self, die daily to sin, by the Spirit, and we walk in obedience to our Lord and to his commands, in his power, then we have eternal life with God. For not everyone who calls him “Lord” will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one DOING (obeying) the will of God (see Luke 9:23-26; Matthew 7:21-23).

Seek the Lord

Christ’s Free Servant, Sue J Love
Musical Instrumentation by Mark Bradley

“Come to Me all you who thirst; come to waters.
Listen to Me, and eat what’s good today,
And your soul will delight in richest of fare.
Give ear to Me, and you will live.
I have made an eternal covenant with you.
Wash in the blood of the Lamb.”

Seek the Lord while He may be found; call on Him.
Let the wicked forsake his way, in truth.
Let him turn to the Lord, and he will receive mercy.
Freely, God pardons him.
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways My ways,”
declares the Lord, our God.

“My word that goes out of My mouth is truthful.
It will not return to Me unfulfilled.
My word will accomplish all that I desire,
And achieve the goal I intend.
You will go in joy and be led forth in peace.
The mountains will burst into song… before you,
And all of the trees clap their hands.”

This is the scariest verse in the bible for believers

Sometime this is a still small voice.

Faith comes from hearing the Word of Christ.

This is not always a loud proclamation.
It sounds like you are making up excuses for people who believe but who do not want to proclaim. (Not trying to be rude. I enjoy our conversations. I am just prodding to make you think.)

I understand the idea of a “still small voice,” but Scripture never shows God saving someone apart from the Gospel being proclaimed. Faith comes by hearing the Word of Christ (Romans 10:17). Creation and conscience can reveal God’s existence (Romans 1:19–20), but that alone does not bring salvation.

Every example of someone coming to faith in the New Testament involves hearing the message of Christ:
-Cornelius was guided by an angel, but he still needed Peter to explain the Gospel (Acts 10).
-The Ethiopian eunuch needed Philip to open Scripture and proclaim Christ (Acts 8).
-Paul says God saves through the “foolishness of preaching” (1 Corinthians 1:21).

The Spirit certainly convicts hearts (John 16:8), but He always works through the spoken or written Word. There’s no biblical precedent for God quietly whispering salvation into someone’s heart without the Gospel being shared.

So, true salvation comes only when the Good News of Jesus Christ is proclaimed.

Do any of you follow MAGA theology?

AFAIK, MAGA is simply about doing what needs to be done to get this country back on track rather than further into debt which will eventually collapse us.

Do you know what Motte-and-Bailey is? Hiding extremist or unjustified ideas behind reasonable sounding discourse.

Google Admits To Censoring Under Pressure From Biden Administration

I don't have a problem with a president putting pressure to stop health misinformation during a health crisis. Just as it's not okay to shout "fire" in a theater or "bomb" in a plane, free speech ends when you're endangering others.

I also don't have a problem with accounts being restored after the crisis has passed.
Except many of the so called "misinformation" turned out to be true.

Saying that the movement as a whole somehow did it is entirely different. Please show whare he flat out said that.
C'mon man rhats what maga is right? I mean even on this board people refer to maga as a group. Just like you refer to the right and
I refer to the left.

When you say it was one of them or one of their own its a reference to a group that one of them did it. Which was a LIE.

The Two-Decade Red State Murder Problem (January 27 2023)
-
collected homicide data from 2000 through 2020 for all 50 states from the Center of Disease Control Wonder’s National Center for Health Statistics Mortality Data. Data is based on death certificates collected by state registries and provided to the National Vital Statistics System.

1) The murder rate in the 25 states that voted for Donald Trump has exceeded the murder rate in the 25 states that voted for Joe Biden in every year from 2000 to 2020.

2)-Over this 21-year span, this Red State murder gap has steadily widened from a low of 9% more per capita red state murders in 2003 and 2004 to 44% more per capita red state murders in 2019, before settling back to 43% in 2020.

3) Altogether, the per capita Red State murder rate was 23% higher than the Blue State murder rate when all 21 years were combined.

4) If Blue State murder rates were as high as Red State murder rates, Biden-voting states would have suffered over 45,000 more murders between 2000 and 2020.

5) Even when murders in the largest cities in red states are removed, overall murder rates in Trump-voting states were 12% higher than Biden-voting states across this 21-year period and were higher in 18 of the 21 years observed.

6) Despite evidence to the contrary, Republicans have made crime a major selling point over the past several elections. In 2020 and 2022, they ran ads accusing Democratic candidates of wanting to “defund the police”– a position held by only a handful of fringe Democratic officeholders!

7) In October 2022, one-quarter of ads from Republican candidates and PACs focused on crime. Republican-aligned Fox News aired, on average, 141 segments on crime across weekdays in the two months leading up to the midterms. In the week after the midterm, their coverage of violent crime dropped by 50%.

8) In March of 2022, we released a report that found murder rates in 2020 were 40% higher in Trump-voting states than Biden-voting states.

FACTORS THAT ACCOUNT FOR THIS DISCREPANCY IN HOMICIDES BETWEEN FLUE AND RED STATES

GUNS- estimated that gun ownership rates are as much as twice as high in a typical red state than a typical blue state
- 79% of all homicides are committed with a firearm

POVERTY - studies have found a correlation between poverty and violent crime.
- Red states tend to have higher rates of poverty rates than Blue states.

Jimmy Kimmel Did Not Say Exactly What You Think He Said

“We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it.”

Kimmel doesn’t actually say “this kid” was “one of them.” You could read it a different way: Robinson wasn’t MAGA, and therefore MAGA is out there trying to characterize him as something else. Or even: Who knows if Robinson was or wasn’t MAGA, either way MAGA is trying to score points based on his politics.

Kimmel himself would seem to be of this opinion. In Hollywood Reporter‘s latest story detailing how the suspension went down behind the scenes, Kimmel is said to have been “defending what he said [as] being grossly mischaracterized by a certain group of people.”
No, he doesn’t actually say it, he implies it.

Left-Wing Terrorism Is on the Rise

. This extraordinary drop-off is too recent to allow for any definitive explanations—and the number of terror incidents often fluctuates over short periods—but Trump’s reelection could be a key factor. His victory deflated election conspiracies that had once motivated many extremists.

Let's focus on this part. They are working with a relatively small window of time, with a relatively limited dataset, to support their implied claims.

Has Kirk's Death Prompted You?

I wouldn't mind it if the whole country were Christian.
If Christians could agree on what that would mean and still not make non Christians feel second class. Of course it would be unconstitutional.
I guess we have veered off topic a little into politics. Though I do not mind talking about politics, the original question was, has the Charlie Kirk death encouraged you to be more outspoken?
As I said, it encouraged me to be a better listener. That is counter cultural and really quite a challenge since we have been groomed to proclaim our opinions as facts, hear only what we want to hear, double down and think the worst of those who do not share our views and beliefs.
