  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The Trump DOJ goes "woke" and will target free speech.

Trump’s DOJ scrubs mention of Jan. 6 and Trump from Taylor Taranto sentencing memo

From the start of President Donald Trump’s second term, he and his administration have prioritized purging the history of Jan. 6, from his blanket pardons of Trump-backed rioters to firing agents and prosecutors who did their jobs in bringing cases against people who broke the law, including those who attacked law enforcement officers that day in 2021.
The latest example comes in the sentencing of Taylor Taranto, scheduled for Thursday. His Jan. 6 charges were dismissed due to the president’s Day 1 command, but he was convicted this year of separate crimes he committed in 2023.
Ahead of his sentencing, two prosecutors on his case filed a memorandum Tuesday that referred to Jan. 6 and Trump — after which they were placed on leave, the Justice Department withdrew their memo, and new prosecutors came in and filed a new one Wednesday without mentioning Jan. 6 or Trump.
The initial 14-page memo, signed by prosecutors Carlos Valdivia and Samuel White, recounted that “On January 6, 2021, thousands of people comprising a mob of rioters attacked the U.S. Capitol while a joint session of Congress met to certify the results of the 2020 presidential election.” It further noted that Taranto “was accused of participating in the riot in Washington, D.C., by entering the U.S. Capitol Building,” and that he later “returned to his home in the State of Washington, where he promoted conspiracy theories about the events of January 6, 2021.”
  1. So they scrub the prosecutors report that accurately describe Jan 6th as a mob or rioters.
  2. The report accurately describes the defendant being motivated by Trump and Trump doxing Barrack Obama's address.
  3. They place on leave the two prosecutors for correctly doing the above.
  4. Then without going through the court process they have the sentencing memo with those descriptions removed from record.
  5. Now the Judge has raised the alarm and is requiring them to explain themselves.

The Thing Most Sabbath Keepers Do not Talk About.

It was Gentiles and Jews, who became Christians. Messianic Judaism goes back to the 19th century, with the biggest influx coming about in the 1960s. It is not a thing of the 1st century Christian church.
Who was Peter talking to at Pentecost? I don't know where you got the idea that it started in the 19th century. Messianic Jews have been around since Pentecost. Most of the Christians in the first century were Jews. Please take a closer look at Messianic Judaism history. The fact that there has been an increase in the last 200 years, doesn't mean it has not existed from the beginning.

The Beast of Revelation is a Political and Religious Entity.

Rev. 8:2-9:21 is the prophecy revealing the trumpets judgements. The chapter division between the previous chapter should have been divided at the end of Rev. 8:1, the last chronological event of the previous prophecy. This prophecy begins with a heavenly event in which seven angles standing before God are given seven trumpets. It then proceeds in terminating the service at the altar of incense. This service was shadowed in the earthly sanctuary and was called the “Daily”, and provided God’s corporate atonement for the nation of Israel. This corporate atonement allowed individuals time to recognize their sins and present their individual sin offerings at the altar of burnt offerings, while living in the presence of God, without being destroyed. This service points back to the day that Adam sinned and Jesus stepped between the destroying angle that was to take the life of Adam and Eve the day they sinned. Jesus, since that day has been interceding in behalf of the human race. We as Adventist move vss. 2-5 out of their chronological order, which violates rule one. Following is our position as stated in SDA Bible Commentary, vol. 7, pg. 787. “According to the view that Seventh- day Adventists have favored, the cessation of the angel’s ministry at the altar of incense is symbolic of the end of the ministration of Christ for mankind-the close of probation, the voices, thunderings, lightnings, and earthquake that ensue when when the angel cast the censer into the earth describe events to take place at the end of the seventh trumpet, following the opening of the temple (ch. 11:19);…”Some prefer to see ch. 8:3-5, not so much in its chronological, as in its logical, relationship to the seals and trumpets.”

Interesting. The trumpets of course are a new element being introduced. At the same time however, they seem to be introduced as part of the fulfillment of the seventh seal being opened. Which then would make verse one a good starting point, if the seven trumpets are in fact the fulfillment of the seventh seal being opened. Complicated for sure, but no doubt not meant to be fully understood but by the right people, at the right time. Your SDA Commentary quote above says SDA’s have favored the suggested interpretation, not that it was fully established or set in stone. No doubt there have been some varying views of different details.

The first thing I would want to figure out, is if what is being predicted with the trumpets are literal or symbolic events. It has always seemed to me, that the opening of the sixth seal revealed what seems to me to be the literal events transpiring either immediately before Christ’s second coming, or at it. If this is the case, it seems the trumpets would represent literal events, as symbolic events usually entail greater amounts of time for interpretation. Then however, different time elements within the trumpet prophecies involve months and even a year. So these events could not be extremely rapid judgements doled out as it were at Christ’s coming as part of the end. Revelation 17 seems to suggest however, that the world has time to turn upon Babylon and the false shepherds who led them astray unto destruction, after realizing and apparently acknowledging that they have been deceived by the harlot.

Rev 17:15 And he saith unto me, The waters which thou sawest, where the harlot sitteth, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues. 16 And the ten horns which thou sawest upon the beast, these shall hate the harlot, and shall make her desolate and naked, and shall eat her flesh, and burn her with fire. 17 For God hath put in their hearts to fulfil his will, and to agree, and give their kingdom unto the beast, until the words of God shall be fulfilled. 18 And the woman which thou sawest is that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth.

Rev. 8:2- 5, reveals Christ’s end to corporate atonement, and when the censer is cast to the earth there will be literal world wide peals of thunder, rumblings, flashes of lighting, and an earthquake. This is one of many events that take place in heaven that are linked to earthly events within apocalyptic prophecy. God linked these events together since we cannot see into heaven, but students of prophecy who understand this, and witness these earthly events will understand what is taking place in heaven. Too, these events has to be world wide because God wants to get the attention of all of mankind because He has something very important to say. Seeing it on national news in some far distance place will not have the same effect as experiencing these events personally. These world wide events have not been witnessed to this day, therefore the first trumpet could not have happened as Adventist understand it.

Question? Does Alaric & Goths vs. western Rome, 395-419 A.D., sound like a reasonable fulfillment for the first trumpet? Does Genseric & Vandals vs. Western Rome in 419-456 A.D., seem like a logical fulfillment for the second? Be honest now.

No it does not. Honestly though, I have not devoted enough time considering such, as to what the symbolism might be. And or what exactly expositors have claimed they represent. Though I seem to recall in my studies in the past, regarding Uriah Smith’s take in any case, descriptives defined more by literal events or peoples over and above scripture defining itself. Which I was not very comfortable with. It has been a while though, since I have closely examined these exact issues or prophecies. As they have not been a settled within my own mind, and or that of Adventism I believe, as certain others have and are.

I need to spend some time looking back over other positions which have been presented, and or the issue of literal or symbolic interpretation. I also need to look into the suggestion that intercession has ceased, via Rev. 8. As such would set a definite time frame upon the events of the trumpets, apparently after probation has closed. Time to do this is of course another issue. It is certainly a worthy enough subject though, to start squeezing it into the many other studies and topics I am already involved with. Before moving on with your views, I need to consider these issues first, to become more settled in my own mind regarding them. God bless till then.

Trump administration must release billions in SNAP funds, judge says

Two federal judges ordered the use of contingency funds that Congress voted into law.

Trump can appeal, and does have his lawyers seeking clarification of the ruling.

Failing to use the contingency funds for SNAP as written in the SNAP law will just increase the anger the people are feeling for this president.
His poll numbers are the lowest of any of presidents, 1st term or 2nd term, that the USA has ever had. He hasn't solved inflation nor has he brought down grocery prices. Instead, Trump is spending money on a ballroom, and renovations in the White Hose, and events like these:

Hours before millions of Americans were set to lose federal food benefits amid the ongoing government shutdown, President Donald Trump hosted a glittering party at his Mar-a-Lago club in Palm Beach, Florida.
The official theme of the Halloween night bash was “A Little Party Never Killed Nobody,” according to a pool report. The line is a title of a song featured on the soundtrack for the 2013 movie version of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s classic novel, “The Great Gatsby.”

President Donald Trump marked the first full month of the ongoing government shutdown Friday by blaming it all on Democrats and taking a $3.4 million golf trip to Florida, bringing the total that taxpayers have spent on his hobby to $60.7 million since he retook the presidency in January.
This is his 13th trip to Mar-a-Lago, his Palm Beach country club, which is across the Intracoastal Waterway from his golf course in West Palm Beach, adjacent to the county jail.
Asked about the shutdown, which has furloughed nearly 700,000 federal workers and is forcing another 700,000 to continue working without pay, Trump blamed Democrats. He told reporters after arriving on Air Force One: “It’s their fault. Everything is their fault.”
The downfall of America isn't going to happen because the leadership stresses the economy, abuses the working class, abandons farmers, or infringes on individual rights. IT's when the supporters of the government doing such things, keep schtum and blame others.

President Trump Responds to Judge’s Ruling on SNAP Benefits

Why do you guys even still have a congress when you can just tap trump's friends for funding of everything?
The idea that people are so shortsighted given the idea of private entities paying the US military is just mind boggling.

No.
They are fleeing because of intense safety issues.
Black people have safety issues there too.

Sorry. Not a skin colour issue. If he's NOT accepting black South Africans it's clearly a racist policy.

President Trump Responds to Judge’s Ruling on SNAP Benefits

“Our Government lawyers do not think we have the legal authority to pay SNAP with certain monies we have available, and now two Courts have issued conflicting opinions on what we can and cannot do. I do NOT want Americans to go hungry just because the Radical Democrats refuse to do the right thing and REOPEN THE GOVERNMENT,” President Trump said on Truth Social.

People should not suffer because of a political stunt.
Funny he did so last shutdown. Now you call making sure people eat a stunt. Amazing, but not surprising.

Tucker Carlson’s new crusade against Christian Zionists

Tucker Carlson’s recent interview with Nick Fuentes is another clear articulation of what Tucker is trying to do to the American right. Carlson knew exactly who Fuentes is and what he represents. He gave a platform to a man who openly admires Hitler, denies the Holocaust, and preaches white supremacism dressed up as “Christian traditionalism.” That was the point. The goal wasn’t to debate Fuentes. It was to mainstream him, to test how far this poison could spread inside the conservative movement, and to drive a wedge between Jews and Christians.

Ever since he left Fox News, Carlson has not been shy about his disdain for Israel and for Christians who support it. In his interview with Fuentes, he said he hates Christian Zionists more than anyone else and called their beliefs “heresy.” Think about that. A man who claims to defend Western civilization now mocks the very faith tradition that built it. He is trying to turn Christians against the Jewish people, to convince them that standing with Israel is a betrayal of Christ. It has never been clearer that Tucker doesn’t know his Bible.

Moreover, by hosting Fuentes, Tucker is stabbing TPUSA in the back. Nick Fuentes was an enemy of TPUSA. And now, just a short time after Charlie Kirk was assassinated, Tucker, who claims to be one of Charlie’s closest friends, hosts one of Charlie’s enemies.

Continued below.
Nick Fuentes identifies as a traditionalist Catholic and frequently emphasizes his faith in his content, using phrases like "Christ is King" and promoting Catholic integralism—the idea that society should be governed by Catholic principles. He attends the Latin Mass (Tridentine Rite), criticizes Pope Francis and the post-Vatican II Church as too liberal, and aligns with sedevacantist-leaning or ultra-traditionalist Catholic factions that reject modern ecclesiastical reforms. However, mainstream

Catholic Integralism is a political and social philosophy that advocates for the subordination of the state and all temporal (secular) authority to the spiritual authority of the Catholic Church, rooted in the Church’s claim to guide society toward the common good and eternal salvation.

Catholic authorities and theologians reject his views, condemning his antisemitism, white nationalism, and Holocaust denial as incompatible with Catholic teaching. The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops and groups like the ADL have explicitly distanced the Church from Fuentes, noting that his ideology distorts Catholic doctrine.

Trump Cuts Refugee Admissions and Prioritizes White South Africans

I didn’t say there was a South African genocide.

You mean all this fuss is over 59 people? Because of their race
Not to just run off to the next claim, your """12,000,000 non Caucasian people enter the US illegally in one term -"' is false.
No one said you claimed a genocide. Trump did as his false justification to accept immigrants as long as they are white.
They even cooked evidence when the South Africa President came to the white house.

Trump suggests he’ll release Jeffrey Epstein ‘client list’ if elected: ‘I’d have no problem with it’

Following Epstein’s Money

Federal prosecutors opened a financial-crimes investigation into Jeffrey Epstein in 2007 amid their larger sex-trafficking probe. The financier and his legal team waged a war against them, his emails show.

Federal prosecutors expanded their probe into Jeffrey Epstein’s sex crimes in 2007 to include potential charges of money laundering, an effort that included an outreach to one of his most important clients, according to documents and emails from Epstein’s personal Yahoo account.

Epstein grew furious when he learned that prosecutors had broadened their investigation’s scope, the emails show. His high-powered team of lawyers, including Gerald Lefcourt, Harvard Law School professor Alan Dershowitz, former Bush administration official Jay Lefkowitz and former Independent Counsel Kenneth Starr, argued that Villafaña was pursuing baseless claims to pressure their client into a plea deal. They launched an aggressive campaign to discredit her attempts to follow the money and pressured her higher-ups to remove her and others from the case—or scuttle the case entirely.

[Ultimately, of course, Epstein got the sweetheart deal from Acosta.]

These previously unreported details of the financial-crimes probe were contained in a trove of 18,000 emails from Epstein’s private Yahoo email account obtained by Bloomberg. The relevant correspondence began about a year before Epstein reported to a Palm Beach County jail in June 2008. It includes his communications with his attorneys, correspondence pertaining to the grand jury’s inquiry and draft complaints that some of his lawyers prepared alleging prosecutorial misconduct. It also includes Epstein’s aggrieved, typo-laden missives about the investigation to friends and business associates, including the former chief executive officer of investment bank Bear Stearns.

The revelation that the investigation had a financial aspect also puts a spotlight on Alex Acosta, the former US Attorney for the Southern District of Florida, who signed off on Epstein’s plea deal.

Last month, Acosta told the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform that he didn’t recall any discussion of “potential financial crimes” as part of his office’s Epstein investigation.

Either you should be saying, "oh, sorry; the firmament and the sky are the same thing so that verse from Job is valid", or "well no, I can't show you a verse which says that the firmament is solid."

Who are you to tell me what I should or shouldn't be saying ?

When I asked you if the firmament and the sky are the same or different, you replied "different."

Which they are.

we all know that there is no Bible verse which says the firmament is solid.

Yes there are but you refuse to recognize them for what they mean, so yes 'The Blue Letter Bible' could help you with this or the strong's Concordance.

Body of Christ: Romans 7:4, 1 Corinthians 10:16, 1 Corinthians 11:29, 1 Corinthians 12:27, Ephesians 4:12.

I get the impression you think anything outside of what you've come up with, on your own, is worldly religion. The lone Christian with extra special discernment most every Christian has lacked in the last 2000 years.
Paul says, "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved." He says, "If you confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead you will be saved." (Romans 10:9). This includes both Christians and Jews who keep the Sabbath and those who don’t. These are the Body of Christ.

Maybe it is all they know.

I've met more than one person from the inner city who testified that it was only by chance occurrences that they discovered the lifestyles they saw on television (Family Matters, for instance) were not total fiction like Star Trek. They truly didn't realize it, nor did the people around them, but when they did, they took steps to achieve that lifestyle.

He's never cared about the legality of shuffling funds around when it was something he WANTED to do. Besides, according to him,
he has brought in TRILLIONS in funding from tariffs alone that is just waiting there to be used for the benefit of the American people. I'm sure if we tell him the money is to build a wall on the Mexican border that he'd figure it out.

Former Ohio House speaker & Former Ohio GOP Chair convicted in $60 million bribery scheme (ETA: more charged!)

‘They deserve it’ — FirstEnergy scandal whistleblower cheers new indictments in bribery scheme

Former FirstEnergy CEO Chuck Jones, former FirstEnergy Senior Vice President Michael Dowling and former chairman of the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio Sam Randazzo have been charged with a "combined 27 counts of felony violations, including engaging in a corrupt activity, all related to their joint enterprise to hijack Ohio’s regulatory structure for the benefit of First Energy Corporation and for themselves."

‘They’re not VIPs’: Former FirstEnergy execs get special treatment in Ohio corruption case

Former FirstEnergy executives Chuck Jones and Mike Dowling, accused of orchestrating one of the most extensive public corruption schemes in Ohio history, have been granted extraordinary privacy protections in their Summit County case. A recent Today in Ohio podcast episode dug into how these defendants are managing to keep massive amounts of evidence sealed from public view in a case that directly affected millions of Ohioans’ electric bills.

“The public that paid the price for their corruption is being shut out of seeing the evidence,” said podcast host Leila Atassi. “I feel like it’s really telling that the judge keeps emphasizing how Jones and Dowling’s reputations are on the line as if that somehow tips the scales toward allowing this kind of secrecy.”

The case is part of a broader corruption scandal that has already seen former Ohio House Speaker Larry Householder convicted and FirstEnergy admit to its role in the bribery scheme.

Bounty Hunters, check.

ICE wants to unleash bounty hunters on immigrants: report

Bounty hunters are in line to become the next tool of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement under a procurement document reviewed by the Intercept, the website reported Friday.

"Under the plan, bounty hunters may receive 'monetary bonuses' depending on how successfully they track down their targets — and how many immigrants they then report to ICE," the report said. "According to the document, which solicits information from interested contractors for a potentially forthcoming contract opportunity, companies hired by ICE will be given bundles of information on 10,000 immigrants at a time to locate, with further assignments provided in 'increments of 10,000 up to 1,000,000.'"

Is purgatory a Biblical or extra biblical teaching?

The Roman Catholic Church?

Absolutely yes.
Considering the term "Roman" Catholic came about after the Protestant Revolt as a term used by protestants who wrongly believe they were still part of the Catholic Church, I would agree with you.

The term Roman Catholic (16th Century) came well after the Bible (4th Century)

For those who are gamers, how do you handle Christian Ethics vs gaming?

I’m not understanding what the issue is. I mean in the most basic sense, they are simply decorations. Just because they have an association with paganism doesn’t mean that it has an impact on you spiritually, does it? Does looking at them impact you spiritually?

The possible ethical concerns that I see in video games are graphic violence, killing, sexual content, ECT. But I’ve been out of the video game scene for a very long time.

The Thing Most Sabbath Keepers Do not Talk About.

"Were" being the keyword. The Jews considered Jesus to be a blasphemer and had him crucified. Those who accepted Jesus as the Messiah, were no longer Jews, they became Christians.
Paul said a Jew was one inwardly, and Jesus said Salvation was of the Jews. Paul also said a Christian is a man who Yields Himself to God and becomes "a servant of God's Righteousness".

Isn’t a true Christian, a Jew inwardly who does the Works of Abraham, who are Doers of the Christ's sayings, not hearers only.

Trump knocking down historic East Wing to build Ballroom - is this LEGAL?

Many corporate interests that have donated to the president’s pet project have business before his administration

President Trump’s aides have promised transparency about the funding of a new ballroom, but the White House withheld the identities of several donors to the project, including some with business before the administration, The New York Times found.

A list released last month by the White House of more than three dozen donors omitted donation amounts, as well as the names of several individuals and companies that collectively have billions of dollars riding on the outcome of administration policy decisions.

---

Mr. Trump’s fund-raisers have been circulating a pledge form, a copy of which was obtained by The Times, seeking contributions for the ballroom, which gives donors the option of withholding their identities from public disclosure. Such donations could remain anonymous in perpetuity, as the funds are being raised and managed by the Trust for the National Mall, a nonprofit registered under a section of the tax code for charities that provides benefits for donors including the ability to claim tax deductions and to keep their identities anonymous.

A White House official said in a statement that the identities of donors “who wish to be named publicly” will be disclosed, but that “donors also have the option to remain anonymous and we will honor that if that’s what they choose.”

Ethics experts have raised concerns about the donations, including the possibility that they could lead to special treatment for donors or test the bounds of a prohibition on federal agencies accepting gifts from private sources.
