Questions and Answers

This is juxtaposing our FAITH ALONE, not our Nationalities. In the end, in Rom. 11 when does Paul say ALL Israel will be saved? (Not every Jew but Israel as a Nation as in all 12 tribes are preserved) When they once again BELIVE or understand its by Faith Alone that Salvation is granted. Only then will they be Grafted back in to the family of God. So, as individuals God tells us there is one body but many varied callings and gifts yet we all have the same faith, yet my calling is not yours, and the Churches calling is not Israel's calling.

I wonder why people can not see God's truths, but in the end I know why? It is what it is.
Hi Fisherking,

I see the word "juxtaposing" every so often. But I forget what it means. So I did a Google word search for the meaning of "juxtapose"

And here is the meaning....

juxtapose - place or deal with close together for contrasting effect.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Was Paul emphasizing "faith" vs "works" for Salvation ?

Israel-Hamas Thread II

Well I'm drunk on it.

I love the Jews so much, I wish I was one - I'm a Jew wannabe... If I could wear a skull cap without fear of being a fraud, I'd wear one everyday. Not for religious reasons, but because I know a superior culture when I see one.
What in particular makes it a superior culture?

Gavin Newsom's X feed is awesome

The extra funny part is that rightwing media is complaining that these antics are not gubernatorial. Not fitting the high office to which he has been elected. Every time they do so, they are critiquing President Trump.

Newsome pushed back against Democracy to achieve his political goals

The Governor want to remove that power from the voters and place it under his authority - a direct move against the Democratic Process.

Newsom is proposing to temporarily override the commission and create districts more favorable to Democrats until after the 2030 Census. That requires going to the voters for their approval.

Sure looks like a direct attack on the Democratic process to make political appointment without voters consent.
From the article in the OP: "Ultimately, California voters will likely decide in a special election this November."

And from the above link:

“We will go to the people of this state in a transparent way and ask them to consider the new circumstances, to consider these new realities,” Newsom told reporters during a visit to a Sacramento County airfield, where he showed off new state firefighting equipment.

“This is not going to be done in a back room. This is not going to be done by members of some private group or body,” he added. “It’s going to be given to the voters for their consideration in a very transparent way so they know exactly what they’re doing and they can go back in 2030 to original form with our independent redistricting intact.”

The governor said he wants to hold the election on the first Tuesday in November because many communities already have local elections scheduled then.

Idolatry

Your post will mostly likely get derailed several times. Two of the most powerful denominations do not agree with the Protestant view that " images" fall under the feared " graven" image. It really boils down to the individual because these denominations will deny any such thing as teaching the " worshipping" of an image.
The individual must ask themselves honestly, " am I supplicating to an image or directly to our Father.
Blessings

Scripture presents the use of sacred images in the Holy of Holies itself.

What makes having an icon of Christ "idolatrous" but having golden cherubim upon the Ark not?

I don't worship icons of Christ. But holy icons confront me with the sacred and central truth claim of my religion: God became flesh.

Gavin Newsom's X feed is awesome

It could end up increasing the unpopularity of the Democrat party.
That’s what I thought about the GOP when Trump came onto the scene with his crazy antics and just look at us now.

For some reason being a troll seems to resonate well with the average voter.

No I did not bother because the first three centuries are much more important for historical Christianity.

Which is more important: the first century or the eighth century, the second century or the sixteenth century?

It's not a competition. Christianity has been here proclaiming Good News for two thousand years. In the first and eighth, in the second and sixteenth.

I'm a Lutheran. That means I believe the 1500 years of Christianity before Luther also matters.

6,000 Years?

Here, again, God doesn't say "world" (tevel) but just "erets" (land). And this is why you are continuously confused. "Land" can mean "hereabouts", "my land", "this nation", and so on. But "tevel" means "the whole world." Which is why God said "erets", not "tevel."

Why not just accept it as it is?
The land of the Earth....is called earth. Words have no meaning without context...

AI Overview

Yes, 'erets is a Hebrew word that means earth and also land or ground, with the specific meaning determined by the context of its use. While it can refer to the entire planet, it is very often used to mean a specific territory, country, or region, as in the Land of Israel (Eretz Yisrael).

Key Meanings of 'Erets
  • The Earth: In passages like Genesis 1:1, "'erets" can refer to the entire planet.

  • Land/Country: It is frequently used to denote a specific "land" or a portion of territory, such as the Land of Israel.

  • Ground: "Erets" can also mean the soil or ground underfoot.
Context is Key
Because "'erets" has these different meanings, translators rely on the surrounding text to determine the intended meaning. For example:

  • In Genesis 1:1, when God created the "heavens and the earth," "'erets" means the whole planet.

  • When God tells Abraham to "Go to the land (Eretz) that I will show you," it refers to the specific territory of the Land of Israel.

Trump suggests he’ll release Jeffrey Epstein ‘client list’ if elected: ‘I’d have no problem with it’

Once again we are back to demanding Trump do things you don't do. And you completely ignore the fact that he may have received new information. Biden could have released it promise or not. He didn't, for a reason. And one you don't know.
Sure we do. It's not typical to release investigative files. Biden doesn't need a reason NOT to release the files. That's standard. He needs a reason TO release them. A few rightwing nuts clamoring for them is not a sufficient reason.

Former DOGE Employee beaten in DC trying to stop car jacking

As much as you would like it to be - no it is not - as already linked and shown it is the response to a continuing problem. As hard a fact as that is to swallow - it is a fact.

Yes, I realize my comments do not serve your narrative....nor the narrative of the White House.
However, what I stated is common sense.

Once more, if the White House actions were sincere and guided by data, they would be focussed on Memphis, not Washington DC. We all know highlight a single crime in D.C. is nothing more than excuse for Trump to deploy the military as a tool of political intimidation. D.C. residents see right through it...as do many Americans.

That same Consitituion gave the President of the United States the authority to activate the National Guard - and not even the farthest left Democrat is arguing that fact -
In D.C......the use of the National Guard in L.A. is under court review.
Seeing my brother and sisters in the military bring a sense of security - I served. They are no threat to anyone but those wishing to do harm. That is the America I served.

What you call combat fatigues and other dramatic words are what we called BDU's - What should on duty soldiers wear?

THe point is, American soldiers have no business performing civilian police work. But hey, if you want America to appear like some Latin American country where armed soldiers on the streets is not unusual, so be it. It's not the America I know.

Illegal Immigration

The WJS survey from 7/28 isn't on that list. Is excluding notable polls a scientific approach? If so, please explain the science.
I don't know why RCP excluded the WSJ poll, but even if the WSJ poll were included, the RCP polling average would still show that most Americans disapprove of Trump's immigration policies.

Very Important Information about Bible Translations

"Pope Damasus I commissioned Jerome to produce a revised Latin version of the Bible, known as the Vulgate, starting around 382 AD." -AI Google. The reason why the Pope wanted him to do this was "to hide the Word from Greek speaking people."- "Which Bible" by David Otis Fuller, D. D.

"Greek was a common language to most people during the Hellenistic period, following the conquests of Alexander the Great in the 4th century BCE, and continuing through the Roman and early Byzantine Empires until around the 6th century CE. This common, simplified form of Greek was known as Koine Greek, which spread as a lingua franca across the Mediterranean and Near East and became the language of the New Testament." -Google AI

Why the Sabbath is a moral commandment

Are you saying the Greek definition I provided is wrong?
The basis for the ceremonial law being included as part of the definition of "dogma" is a misinterpretation of how it is used Colossians 2:14, so that part of the definition is wrong.

Do you think we still need to make sin offerings and animal sacrifices despite, the blood of Jesus cleansings us of all sin and unrighteousness?
We should live in a way that points to Christ rather than a way that points away from him, and all of God's laws were given to in order to teach us how to point to Christ, include the sacrificial system.

In Acts 18:18, Paul took a vow involving shaving his head and the only vow prescribed by the Bible that involves doing that is a Nazarite vow, which involves making offerings (Numbers 6). Likewise, in Acts 21:20-24, Paul planned the pay for the offerings of others who were under vow. In Hebrews 8:4, it refers to offerings that were still being made in accordance with God's law, so offerings did not cease with the death or resurrection of Jesus but only ceased because of the destruction of the Temple and there are prophesies about when the Temple will be rebuilt and offerings will resume.

Again, the law that was given as the OT prescription when one sins cannot be the same law that defines sin.
That is still incorrect. Do you think that if an Israelite would have been doing nothing wrong if they disobeyed what God's law commands in Leviticus 4? No, they would have been compounding there sin by increasing their transgressions of God's law.

In all of the Scriptures that discuss the law that defines sin, points to the Ten Commandments. Such as 1 John 3:4 James 2:11 Mat 5:19-30 Rom 7:7. Of course anything that is not of faith is sin. I do not see anywhere in Scripipture that animal sacrifices is the law that defines sin, It was added because of sin. It was the prescription for sin, so can't be the same law that is the description for sin i.e. the Ten Commandments.
While sin is the tragressions of the Ten Commandments it is by no means limited to just them. For example, in James 2:1-11, he was encouraging them to repent from the sin of committing favoritism. Likewise, there are sins spoken against beyond the Ten Commandments in places like in Romans 1:26-32, 1 Corinthians 6:9-11, Galatians 5:19-21, Titus 3:1-3, and Acts 15:19-21. It is also a sin to transgress the greatest two commandments.

Description of sin

1Jn 3:4 Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness.
Jas 2:11 For He who said, "DO NOT COMMIT ADULTERY," also said, "DO NOT MURDER." Now if you do not commit adultery, but you do murder, you have become a transgressor of the law.
7 What shall we say then? Is the law sin? Certainly not! On the contrary, I would not have known sin except through the law. For I would not have known covetousness unless the law had said, “You shall not covet.”

All quoting from the Ten Commandments that God added no more Deut 5:22
In Deuteronomy 5:31-33, Mose wrote down everything that God commanded him without departing from it.

1 Cor 5:6 Your glorying is not good. Do you not know that a little leaven leavens the whole lump? 7 Therefore [a]purge out the old leaven, that you may be a new lump, since you truly are unleavened. For indeed Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed [b]for us. 8 Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, nor with the leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.

Where does it say we are to keep the annual feast days?
Bolded in verse 8:

1 Cor 5:6 Your glorying is not good. Do you not know that a little leaven leavens the whole lump? 7 Therefore [a]purge out the old leaven, that you may be a new lump, since you truly are unleavened. For indeed Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed [b]for us. 8 Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, nor with the leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.
