Dozens of OB-GYNs fled Idaho after its abortion ban. Medicaid cuts could make access to care even worse.

Since we can't discuss it, I'll just say: You're wrong.

And, no, you don't know what a red herring is.
That’s your opinion, which I disagree with.

Wrong about what exactly? People shouldn’t be responsible?

Woe to the Unrighteous

Nowhere is this written nor even suggested in Scripture nor from Jesus to His disciples/ children.
Romans 5

12
[Humanity’s Sin through Adam.] Therefore, sin entered the world as the result of one man, and death as a result of sin, and thus death has afflicted the entire human race inasmuch as everyone has sinned. 13 Sin was already in the world before there was any Law, even though sin is not reckoned when there is no Law. 14 Nevertheless, death reigned over all from Adam to Moses, even over those who had not sinned by disobeying a command, as did Adam who prefigured the one who was to come.

15
[Grace and Life through Christ.] However, the gift is not like the transgression. For if the transgression of one man led to the death of the many, how much greater was the overflowing effect of the grace of God and the gift of the one man Jesus Christ that has abounded for the many. 16 The gift of God cannot be compared with the sin of the one man. For the one sin resulted in the judgment that brought condemnation, but the gift freely given after many transgressions resulted in justification. 17 For if, because of one man’s transgression, death reigned through that man, how much more shall those who receive the abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness come to reign in life through the one man Jesus Christ.

18 Therefore, just as one man’s transgression brought condemnation for all, so one man’s righteous act resulted in justification and life for all. 19 For just as through the disobedience of one man the many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one man the many will be made righteous.

Cracker Barrel loses almost $100 million.

I meant look into it from the perspective of those using the term woke as a negative. Then you'd understand why they see things the way they do. That doesn't mean accepting any of it, it just means no longer being stumped by it.

And when I do that, the only consistent meaning of "woke" I see is, "Thing I don't like".

Cracker Barrel loses almost $100 million.

Sounds like the things that had actual value were already lost, then.
The current changes are an effort to reverse loosing customers. The last time I ate at Cracker Barrel was breakfast at least four years ago. Was traveling with some older family members, and one insisted on Cracker Barrel. Nothing against that idea, just I'd prefer to get something quick and be on our way. What sticks out in my mind was the insistence we had to eat there.

Note: I'm old enough that I've seen some of the "antiques" on display at Cracker Barrel in actual use. Occasionally you'll find something interesting, like those wooden forms used to make sand cast molds for cast iron stoves. That nostalgia is/was a definite draw, from the some of the items in the store section to the things hanging from the walls.

Anyway, I can't comment on shrinking portion sizes. Being that's standard to try to defer inflation costs, it's very likely. Since the daily specials usually meant faster service, tended to go for that.

Pope Leo Affirms Judas Iscariot Excluded Himself From Salvation

My understanding is that Judas wanted to associate with Jesus because he sensed his power and holiness, but instead of humility, Judas wanted Jesus to recognize his talents and what he could do for Jesus, rather than accepting what Jesus could do for him.
Then, instead of repenting when he saw his sin, he blamed God for how he was made and condemned himself by suicide.
I believed Jesus really loved Judas, but Judas would not accept it. Judas could not accept that pride has no place in heaven. Judas wanted to be consulted and praised, to be obeyed rather than to obey. It is really sad, but such is our fate if we refuse to deny ourselves, take up our cross and obey those appointed over us

Newsome pushed back against Democracy to achieve his political goals

You would still complain

How about disputing the numbers instead
There's nothing wrong with the numbers; it's your expectations about what minority parties should receive in a system based on 50%+1 voting.

Connecticut's boundaries haven't changed significantly in years. But as the state got bluer, Republicans shrank from a majority of districts to zero, using the same lines.

Biden Appointed Judge Orders Release of ‘Teens’ Who Violently Attacked Ex-DOGE Employee Edward Coristine, AKA “Big Balls”

Then let's empty out the prisons and put them all back out there since all those prisoners are part of society. Your neighborhood could be the first place they go. Do you still think they're part of society now?
Surely you're already aware that most prisoners will be released into society at large when they've served their terms? In the meantime, let's make the prisons safe for the prisoners and guards.

Anyway, this particular discussion is about teenagers in jail awaiting trial, not convicts in prison.
The article being referenced would inform you of that.
The article contains allegations and speculation.
Why is everything about Trump with you? This thread certainly isn't. It's about a Biden-appointed judge releasing a violent criminal.
Why are you trying to make this about me? That comment was an aside. The judge released the accused into custody and detention - a more economical alternative to having them rot in jail while awaiting trial and now giving them full freedom.
The injury to the man who was assaulted proves he was assaulted, and there was the teens. Figure it out.
Jesse Smollet had injuries allegedly proving he was assaulted until it was proven not to be true.

Due process: the American way (so far).

Cracker Barrel loses almost $100 million.

It usually has correcting some perceived wrong involved. Eggs being replaced by rocks because using eggs exploits chickens or something along those lines. Gender neutral clothing being universal. Like this is how everyone needs to dress. All clothing must not denote gender in any way. Because anything gender specific excludes or marginalizes or whatever some social group. Burger King going totally meatless because meat exploits animals, contributes to climate change, distresses vegans etc.

Woke is mostly a short word for radical progressive liberalism.

So uh, I've been outside of my house recently and here are some things I've seen:

Eggs, clothing for men and women, and Burger King selling hamburgers.

I don't know what bizarro world you live in where eggs are replaced with rocks, there aren't gendered clothing anymore, and Burger King doesn't sell meat. But in the world I currently inhabit, those are all still normal things--and nobody I've seen or know is complaining about it. So if you know of some world where "radical progressive liberals" are out here stopping burger joints from selling burgers, it's completely foreign to the one I participate in every day here on Earth.

Well then you'll just have to look it up and keep studying until the penny drops. Like with doctrine and theology, it helps to understand different views. Even if you don't hold to them, don't agree with them, or think they're nonsense.

When I look up what "woke" means, it doesn't look like anything the "anti-woke" folk say it is or how they use it.

I am quite familiar with the African American origins of the word and concept of "woke" and how it relates to the matter of systemic racial injustice.

But the way you are using it suggests complete incoherent meaninglessness. Something is woke because you don't like it, or because the politicians and media pundits you listen to use it to describe things they don't like, and to synthesize social narratives about all those "bad people" you aren't supposed to like who are doing things you should be upset about it.

Otherwise why should you, a thinking human being, care that a company changed its logo. How do you spin it into some larger social conspiracy? No, seriously though--how do you do it? And how do you decide when a completely innocuous and meaningless brand change is part of some evil "woke" mob operating in the shadows and when is it not? It appears to be entirely arbitrary, and thus it's all meaningless rage bait.

When I stopped seeing the "Got Milk?" commercials I didn't get irrationally angry and think there must be some kind of nefarious power at work behind the scenes. I bet you didn't either.

Hey, perhaps you have personal strong emotional and sentimental ties to Cracker Barrel, and so your sense of nostalgia is affected by this change. That's fair. I have often experienced that sentiment. That's a perfectly normal emotional response to seeing things you feel sentimental attachments to change, as you realize that you're getting older and the world around you isn't static--but constantly changing. I grew up on Squaresoft video games on the SNES, but then Squaresoft and Enix merged into a single company and the company became Square Enix. I still get nostalgic for the old Square logo when I insert the cartridge of Chrono Trigger or Secret of Mana into the ol' SNES. But that change wasn't "woke". There's no nefarious power behind the scenes. Company logos change, companies merge, brands change, logos change, franchises come to an end. Toys R' Us was a huge part of my childhood experience, and they aren't even around anymore. Not because of a woke conspiracy, but because the company went under. Modern McDonalds look soulless to me, the ones of my childhood were colorful, with play rooms filled with bright weird characters. But it has nothing to do with "woke" that they changed.

Buckle your belt, hold your head up high, and realize that the world around you is independent of you--our sentiments don't control the world. I'm not the main character in the story of the universe, I'm just here the same as everyone else. This world was around way before I showed up, and it'll be here for a long time after I'm gone. And this short window of time where I am a part of the present universe I have a golden opportunity to choose how I interact with it. And maybe I shouldn't waste my limited resource of life on such trivial nonsense as a Cracker Barrel logo.

NYT: Abrego Garcia’s Lawyers Accuse Justice Dept. of Vindictive Prosecution

It was the second time that Mr. Abrego Garcia’s lawyers have sought to hold the Trump administration accountable over its handling of his expulsion to El Salvador and its aftermath.

Lawyers for Kilmar Armando Abrego Garcia, the immigrant who was wrongfully expelled to El Salvador in March, accused the Justice Department on Tuesday of vindictive prosecution for bringing a criminal case against him after he and his lawyers fought his deportation.

The accusations, made in a 35-page filing in Federal District Court in Nashville, amounted to an effort by Mr. Abrego Garcia to call out the behavior of the administration, which has been going after him in one form or another for nearly five months.

In a reminder of the government’s many missteps in the case, Mr. Abrego Garcia’s lawyers pointed out that Trump officials first removed him from the United States in violation of a court order. They added that instead of taking the traditional path and quickly returning him, the White House “began a public campaign to punish Mr. Abrego for daring to fight back, culminating in the criminal investigation” that led to his indictment.

Trump’s Domestic Use of Military Set to Get Worse, Leaked DHS/DoD Memo Shows: LA "hasn't been perfect" but indicates what's coming "for years to come"

People are saying that Trump intends to provoke violence in the cities as proof that martial law is needed to quell the emergency.

IMO, that is the strategy. Sooner or later some one is going to resist with more than a hoagie....and when that happens, the Trump media will swing into action.

One example: The hoagie thrower, through his attorney, had already offered to come down to the police staton and turn himself in the following day. But, of cours, that had no production value for MAGA. Instead, they sent a SWAT team to his apartment....released this video....

Illegal Immigration

I know this is petty, but it grinds my gears when people say we live in a democracy. We do not. We live in a constitutional republic.
That is a type of democracy.
There are big differences, fundamentally and practically, between the two.
Sure, just like there are big differences between plants and trees. That doesn't make the terms mutually exclusive. Trees are plants but not all plants are trees. Likewise, a republic is a type of democracy but not all democracies are republics. Take a parliamentary system for example. Also a democratic form of government but not republican.
And it always seems to be democrats who make this mistake. Makes me wonder why that is.
Because it is only Republicans who want to quibble over the word and make a distinction when there isn't one. A republic is a democracy.

The case so far

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) picked up Abrego March 12 near IKEA in College Park. According to his wife, he had just left the house with his young son and was heading to the bus stop to pick up his older kids.
The following weekend, Abrego's wife said, El Salvador’s president posted a video to X that showed her husband being frog walked by guards in the notorious Salvadoran prison CECOT. His wife had no idea where he was until she recognized him in the video. She also recognized his distinctive tattoos in a photograph....
His deportation violated that "withholding of removal" status, a U.S. immigration judge’s order in 2019 that shields Abrego from deportation to El Salvador because he likely faces threats of gang violence there....
Then, facing mounting pressure and a U.S. Supreme Court order, the Trump administration returned Abrego Garcia to the U.S. in June, but charged him with human smuggling....
His attorneys have called the smuggling charges “preposterous.”

What comes next

A court filing shared with News4's Paul Wagner reveals that the Trump administration offered Abrego a deal in which they would send him to Costa Rica if he pleaded guilty to both counts in the indictment against him.
Then, when Abrego was released, the administration told his lawyers he would be sent to Uganda.
"On Friday evening, the government informed Mr. Abrego that he has until first thing Monday morning —precisely when he must report to ICE’s Baltimore Field Office — to accept a plea in exchange for deportation to Costa Rica, or else that offer will be off the table forever."
The warning to Abrego was the result of a court order that ICE must give immigrants 72 hours notice before being removed to third countries.

On Friday afternoon, government attorneys notified Abrego Garcia to report to Immigrations and Customs Enforcement custody in Baltimore on Monday, and that he could be sent to Uganda “no earlier than 72 hours from now (absent weekends),” according to a pair of letters attached by Abrego Garcia’s lawyers to the filing.

Attorneys for Abrego Garcia argued that the efforts show both the Justice Department and Department of Homeland Security were “working in lockstep to coerce Mr. Abrego into accepting a guilty plea,” calling the efforts “vindictive” and asking for the case to be dismissed.

AI admits that God is the answer

AI is a regurgitating large language model system that is designed to be friendly and non-confrontational. So you can exploit this and feed it a line of questions that it's going to agree with. AI doesn't care if there is a God or not but will happily entertain the idea in a vacuum without need to push back. The video shows a line of questions that AI helps to develop more to come to a conclusion that was intended from the beginning. To me, that's not the problem that AI can be manipulatied. Now that's it's out of our system and we can all agree AI's is a bit of push over about what the points made? If you disagree with the conclusion, it's on you to refute them but trying to discredit AI from some absurd examples is just anecdotal and adding to the noise.

I've really got nothing else to say on the matter except that the whole concept of having AI admit there's a God, especially if it's something like ChatGPT or Twitter's Grok, is nothing more than... oh, I forget the name of the fallacy. It uses leading questions but it's not JUST leading questions.

I have no desire to argue the questions in the video (heck, in general, I refuse to watch anything REMOTELY connected to AI, positive or negative, because that's how YouTube's algorithm starts to get you with their stuff) since I don't want to argue about anyone's faith, that's not place. I will continue to point out that AI is nothing more than a glorified machine that many people today take WAY too seriously.

Another look at the moon landing.

What IS heart-breaking is that anyone can make a video about anything and post it on YouTube without checking their facts.

Operation paper clip is a fact.
Hubertus Strughold is the father of space medicine given the name of the chief scientist of NASA Aerospace. Fact.
Hubertus Stronghold & the monstrosities he did in Nazi Germany. Fact.

Britain becomes 'western capital' for sharia law courts as 85 open throughout the UK

You seem to have it backwards. Shar'ia councils in the UK were initially established for women

I want you to listen to yourself for just a minute.

You said:
Shar'ia councils in the UK were initially established for women so they could get divorced when their husbands refused.

You telling me, that the court system in Great Britain cannot handle a contested divorce? Like really? They've never had one before?

And your telling me not only are they clueless as to how we legally resolve contested divorces, but it's so bad that Muslim women legally living in and/or citizens of the UK, must stand before a court where her testimony is worth half her husband.

Half her husband. Anything she says must actually be proven through eye witnesses to any event that might come up in divorce. Any he said/she said scenario and only his testimony is counted.

Not only that, but domestic violence against the women is not cause for divorce, because he's allowed under Islamic law to beat her to a pulp if he wants.

So if he's abusive, he could still get full custody of his children - because any children produced in the marriage are his by law, not hers. his children. So he can be awarded full custody regardless of abuse in the home.

Protection under Western laws usually entails things such as giving the woman's court testimony as being equal in weight to the testimony of the man and domestic violence is allowed as cause to keep custody of your children -

I'm sure glad I don't live in a country that can't manage a contested divorce amongst their Muslim population any better than depriving women of their legal rights under Western laws while living in their western nation.

But they really really really didn't want their testimony to be equal to the man and they wanted to potentially lose custody of their children to an abuser or even potentially be denied a divorce in the first place.

I'm sure that's truly the case (where's that roll eyes emoji?) certainly no one really desires to be equal under the law in a divorce, and surely they should have magically known the laws and be willing to fight to have the English hear their case because apparently the English have decided immigrant women are not worth enough to make sure they don't have to fight a nutty man to get a real divorce and a fair hearing.

ARE ALL THE 10 COMMANDMENTS IN THE OLD AND NEW TESTAMENT?

IF we are crucified with Christ and we are dead but alive, yet not us, but Christ Jesus lives in us and the Life we now live in the flesh, we live by the FAITH OF the Son of God who gave Himself for us. Then we live by the hearing of THIS Faith. And By this Listening, hearkening unto this Faith we receive the Spirit and He works power, HIS Power IN us. EVEN AS Abraham BELIEVED BY THE GOD or to the GOD and it was accounted unto him as righteousness.

Gal 2:20 Χριστῷ Christ συνεσταύρωμαι I Have Been Crucified With, ζῶ δὲ Yet I Live, οὐκέτι No Longer ἐγώ I, ζῇ δὲ But Lives ἐν In ἐμοὶ Me Χριστός· Christ; ὃ δὲ But That Which νῦν Now ζῶ I Live ἐν In σαρκί Flesh, ἐν In πίστει Faith ζῶ I Live, τῇ That τοῦ Of The υἱοῦ Son τοῦ θεοῦ Of God, τοῦ Who ἀγαπήσαντός Loved με Me καὶ And παραδόντος Gave Up ἑαυτὸν Himself ὑπὲρ For ἐμοῦ Me.

Gal 3:5 ὁ He Who οὖν Therefore ἐπιχορηγῶν Supplies ὑμῖν To You τὸ The πνεῦμα Spirit, καὶ And ἐνεργῶν Works δυνάμεις Works Of Power ἐν IN ὑμῖν You, 'Is It' ἐξ By ἔργων Works νόμου Of Law ἢ Or ἐξ By ἀκοῆς hearing πίστεως Of Faith?
If we are truly crucified with Christ, we will strive to reject sin in all its forms. We are able to do this when we obey the Holy Spirit's promptings to flee from all temptations to sin. James 4:7
