  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Sanders hits at Cornel West over criticism of Biden

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) hit back at third-party presidential hopeful Cornel West, after West knocked the prominent progressive for backing President Joe Biden in the 2024 election.

Some politicians are so fearful of former President Donald Trump retaking the White House that “they don’t really want to tell the full truth,” West said. “[Biden has] created the best economy that we can get. Is this the best that we can get? You don’t tell that lie to the people just for Biden to win,” West said in a clip played on CNN Sunday.

Apart from the fact that this seems to be something of a 180 compared to how Sanders used to talk...

Are democrats genuinely thinking that Biden is doing a great job (Bernie and AOC both endorsing him...despite being critical last time around ....AOC going as far as saying that she and him don't even belong in the same party)? Or are they just more worried that West could potentially have the ability to play spoiler and split the vote? (similar to Nader in 2000 when he siphoned off enough votes to cost Gore the election).

In possibly related news...it would appear that some media outlets (that wouldn't dare badmouth him before because of the implications), are seemingly willing to do so now. Is the timing of ABC, WaPo, and DailyBeast being willing to run with the "Deadbeat Dad" angle for a guy who they wouldn't have dared said that about a year ago (out of fear of being accused of using 'racist dogwhistles') coincidental?

Sinful Thoughts Relieve Stress

Hey everyone,

This is my first post here and I wanted to share about the issue I’ve been going through for quite some time.

I believe this issue was fueled by my relapse into watching p___ almost 2 years ago. It’s an issue with impulsive thoughts, and more recently, feeling relief from physical stress from having said thoughts.

Basically, I find myself constantly in physical stress, usually in my face, shoulders and back, and even in my eyes.

This stress for some reason will usually not go away unless I have some kind of a sinful thought. Mostly they are blasphemous thoughts, for example: If I curse God in my mind, I instantly feel a relief in my body and I can feel all my physical stress go away.

Now, I can’t tell if the relief is because of a prideful heart that enjoys telling God a cursing thought, or if it’s because of the relief of carrying the burden of NOT HAVING SINFUL THOUGHTS all day, or perhaps both.

I greatly suffer from this, and the stress keeps me from being able to really focus on anything else throughout the day.

I know that I have fueled this pattern for months now, and I’ve gotten to the point where I no longer feel immense guilt and condemnation for these thoughts, but I just don’t want to have them on purpose for the knowledge that they will take away my physical stress.

Is this something mental or is it spiritual?

Any feedback is totally welcome.

Blessings!

Made in His image and likeness to move

Many have said there is no commandment to keep the Sabbath prior to the giving of the commandment on Mr. Sinai.However you will see that it was not needed to be commanded. Romans 1:19, and 20 tell us the invisible things were clearly seen from the creation of the world so we are without excuse. But that is not all. There is more. Genesis 1:26 tells us how. Most translations say that we are made in God’s image and likeness. @BobRyan @Gary K @sandman @Dosblade the following highlighted in red is not true in respect to the passage. But the post stands without it. (But the text actually says more in the Hebrew The words likeness and image are actually compound words, בְּ·צַלְמֵ֖·נ"in our image move" and בְּ דְמוּתֵ֑·נוּ "in our likeness move" is what God says there. The prefix כִּ meaning in and the suffix נוּ meaning move in both words). With צַלְמֵ֖ being image. And דְמוּתֵ֑ translating to likeness. In other words when Adam and Eve were made they were made in God’s image and likeness to move. So when God rested they rested on the Seventh Day because they were one with God moving in His image and likeness. Adam and Eve fell away from this when they sinned. But Jesus reestablished to its utmost. For God was in Christ reconciling the world unto Himself. With man this was impossible but with God all things are possible. Him in us, us in Him that the world might believe. For it is He that works in us both to will and do His good pleasure. And as Acts 17 states In Him we live. move and have our being, Incidentally that is said of unbelievers as well even as some of their own poets had said and Paul testified. John 17, Philippians 2:13. Below are verse references and excerpts from Hebrew Lexicons so you can see the proof for yourself. God bless!

Acts 17:27 That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us:
Acts 17:28 For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.

Romans 1:19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.
Romans 1:20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:

Gen 1:26 וַ·יֹּ֣אמֶר said אֱלֹהִ֔ים And God נַֽעֲשֶׂ֥ה Let us make אָדָ֛ם man בְּ·צַלְמֵ֖·נוּ in our image move כִּ·דְמוּתֵ֑·נוּ after our likeness move וְ·יִרְדּוּ֩ and let them have dominion בִ·דְגַ֨ת over the fish הַ·יָּ֜ם of the sea וּ·בְ·ע֣וֹף and over the fowl הַ·שָּׁמַ֗יִם of the air וּ·בַ·בְּהֵמָה֙ and over the cattle וּ·בְ·כָל־ all הָ·אָ֔רֶץ and over all the earth וּ·בְ·כָל־ every הָ·רֶ֖מֶשׂ and over every creeping thing הָֽ·רֹמֵ֥שׂ that creepeth עַל־ on הָ·אָֽרֶץ׃ upon the earth

First נֵד From the Gesineus Lexicon

H5110 - GES5023
נוּד
(compare cogn. נָדַד)-

(1) to be moved, to be agitated (Arab, ناد Med. Waw id.), used of a reed shaken by the wind, 1Kin 14:15, hence to wander, to be a fugitive, Jer 4:1, Gen 4:12, 14 Psa 56:9, to flee, 11:1, Jer 49:30. Figuratively, Isa 17:11, נֵד קָצִיר “the harvest has fled” [“but see נֵד ” which some in this place take as the subst.].

(2) Followed by a dat. to pity, to commiserate (as signified by a motion of the head, compare Job 16:4, 16:5,); hence-(a) to comfort the afflicted, followed by לְ of pers. 2:1, 42:11, Isa 51:19, Jer 16:5.-(b) to grieve, to lament, to deplore the dead, 22:10.

Hiphil הֵנִיד.-

(1) causat. to cause to wander, to expel, 2Kin 21:8, Psa 36:12.

(2) i.q. Kal, to agitate, to nod, wag with the head (בְּרֹאשׁ), Jer 18:16.

Hophal, part. מֻנָד 2Sam 23:6, shaken out, thrust out; but R. b. Asher reads מֻנָּד, from the root נָדַד.

Hithpael הִתְנוֹדֵד.-

(1) to be moved to and fro, to wag, Isa 24:20, to move the head, Jer 48:27.

(2) to lament, Jer 31:18.

Derived nouns, מָנוֹד, נִיד, נוֹד [and in Thes. נֵד].

Secondly בְּ from the same Lexicon.

GES855
בְּ
(A) pr. in, with ablat. Gr. ἐν. Specially-

(1) in, pr. of place [“which might be more fully and precisely expressed by בְּתֹךְ, בְּקֶרֶב”], as בָּעִיר in the city, בַּבַּיִת in the house, בַּבּוֹר in the pit, בָּאָרֶץ in the land or province, בַּאֲשֶׁר in (a place) which = where; then used of time: בַּשָּׁנָה הַהִיא Judg 10:8, בְּרֵאשִׁית Gen 1:1, comp. בְּטֶרֶם, בְּעוֹר; also of the condition in which we are: בְּשָׁלוֹם 1Sam 29:7, and, in the later Hebrew, it is even prefixed pleon. to adverbs: בְּכֹה, בְּכֵן. By a peculiar idiom of language, it is used of the fountain, origin, and material whence any thing is drawn, is made, or comes forth; as-(a) in the phrase, “to drink in a cup,” i.e. to drink what is in the cup; for “out of the cup” (like the French “boire dans une tasse;” Gr. ἐν χρυσῷ, ἐν ποτηρίοιζ πίνειν, Xenoph. Anab. vi. 1, § 4); Gen 44:5, Amos 6:6, comp. Chald. Dan 5:2.-(b) of the material, as the German eine Münze in Gold, ein Stoff in Wolle, in Grz gegoffen. 2Chr 9:18, כֶּבֶשׂ בַּזָּהָב “a footstool of gold.” Exod 38:8, Lev 13:52, 1Kin 7:14, Ezek 7:20. Metaph.-(c) יָרַע בְּ to know by any thing, Exod 7:17.

(2) When it refers to a multitude, in the midst of which one is, i.q. among, in. Lam 1:3, בַּגּוֹיִם “among the nations.” 2Kin 18:5, בְּכָל־מַלְבֵי יְהוּרָה. 2Sam 15:31, “Ahithophel is בַּקּשְׁרִים among the conspirators.” Psa 118:7, יְהֹוָה בְּעֹזְרַי “Jehovah is among my helpers,” i.e. is my helper (comp. Lat. in magnis viris est habendus); Job 15:10, Jer 6:18. Song 1:8, הַיָּפָה בַּנָּשִׁים “fair (fairest) among women.” Lam 1:1, Josh 14:15, comp. Luke 1:25, 28, 42. Specially it signifies a part excepted from a whole number (as מִן No. 1). Psa 139:16, “my days were determined וְלֹא אֶחָד בָּהֶם when as yet not one among them (of them) existed.” Exod 14:28. 1Sam 11:11, “two בָּם of them;” Lev 26:36, Deut 1:35. Hence, when used with some verbs, it shews that they refer to only a part of the predicate; as הִכָּה בְּ to smite (several) of them, to cause a slaughter among enemies (different from הִכָּה with an acc. to smite them), 2Sam 23:10, הָרַג בְּ Psa 78:31, comp. נָשָׂא בְּ Job 7:13, בָּנָה בְּ, an etwas bauen, to build on, Zech 6:15, בְּ, שָׁתָה, אָכַל Prov 9:5.

Reward

If one does what pleases God then there is a reward for what you did. That's what a Catholic calls merit. One does that which pleases God and rightly embraces God's promise of reward.

(Matthew 5:12 HCSB) Be glad and rejoice, because your reward is great in heaven. For that is how they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

(Matthew 5:46 HCSB) For if you love those who love you, what reward will you have? Don't even the tax collectors do the same?

(Matthew 6:1 HCSB) "Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of people, to be seen by them. Otherwise, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven.

(Matthew 6:2 HCSB) So whenever you give to the poor, don't sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be applauded by people. I assure you: They've got their reward!

(Matthew 6:4 HCSB) so that your giving may be in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.

(Matthew 6:5 HCSB) "Whenever you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites, because they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by people. I assure you: They've got their reward!

(Matthew 6:6 HCSB) But when you pray, go into your private room, shut your door, and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.

(Matthew 6:16 HCSB) "Whenever you fast, don't be sad-faced like the hypocrites. For they make their faces unattractive so their fasting is obvious to people. I assure you: They've got their reward!

(Matthew 6:18 HCSB) so that you don't show your fasting to people but to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.

(Matthew 10:41 HCSB) Anyone who welcomes a prophet because he is a prophet will receive a prophet's reward. And anyone who welcomes a righteous person because he's righteous will receive a righteous person's reward.

(Matthew 10:42 HCSB) And whoever gives just a cup of cold water to one of these little ones because he is a disciple --I assure you: He will never lose his reward!"

(Matthew 16:27 HCSB) For the Son of Man is going to come with His angels in the glory of His Father, and then He will reward each according to what he has done.

(Mark 9:41 HCSB) And whoever gives you a cup of water to drink because of My name, since you belong to the Messiah--I assure you: He will never lose his reward.

(Luke 6:23 HCSB) "Rejoice in that day and leap for joy! Take note--your reward is great in heaven, for this is the way their ancestors used to treat the prophets.

(Luke 6:35 HCSB) But love your enemies, do what is good, and lend, expecting nothing in return. Then your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High. For He is gracious to the ungrateful and evil.

Court revives doctors’ lawsuit saying FDA overstepped its authority with anti-ivermectin campaign

NEW ORLEANS — A federal appeals court Friday revived a lawsuit by three doctors who say the Food and Drug Administration overstepped its authority in a campaign against treating COVID-19 with the anti-parasite drug ivermectin.

Arizona GOP rejects single-day vote proposal

Some Arizona Republicans wanted the Arizona Republican Party to conduct the GOP primary on a single day, requiring voters to show up in person to vote via a paper ballot. The ballots would then be counted by hand. [Arizona hasn't done manual counting since 1880's, when it was still a territory].

For now, the party chair has rejected the idea:

Jeff DeWit, chair of the state party, concluded that the party does not have the money, the manpower or the infrastructure to run an election for an estimated 1.4 million eligible voters.
.....
Under state law, parties are allowed to opt out of publicly run elections. Under the county party’s model, the cash-strapped state party would pay for the election, draft election rules, locate and set up hundreds of polling sites, and recruit, hire and train election workers. The state party had about $200,000 cash on hand at the end of June, campaign finance records show.

Assurance

Christians are assured of the truth of Jesus' promises and are certain that those to whom these promises apply are indeed saved and will remain saved by the grace and power of God who makes the promise to them. No one can doubt this. It is objectively true. Catholics teach it and Protestants too.

But, is assurance a personal thing, can one be personally assured that one is one of those to whom the promises are made or is there room for doubt and can one's conduct bring doubts to mind?

How is one to deal with these doubts?

What is the path laid out by the apostles?

Test yourselves to see if you are in the faith. Examine yourselves. Or do you yourselves not recognize that Jesus Christ is in you?--unless you fail the test.
(2 Corinthians 13:5 HCSB)

the verse is in a wider context, so, here is a more full quote to help set the context.
This is the third time I am coming to you. Every fact must be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses. I gave a warning when I was present the second time, and now I give a warning while I am absent to those who sinned before and to all the rest: If I come again, I will not be lenient, since you seek proof of Christ speaking in me. He is not weak toward you, but powerful among you. In fact, He was crucified in weakness, but He lives by God's power. For we also are weak in Him, yet toward you we will live with Him by God's power. Test yourselves to see if you are in the faith. Examine yourselves. Or do you yourselves not recognize that Jesus Christ is in you?--unless you fail the test. And I hope you will recognize that we do not fail the test. Now we pray to God that you do nothing wrong--not that we may appear to pass the test, but that you may do what is right, even though we may appear to fail. For we are not able to do anything against the truth, but only for the truth. In fact, we rejoice when we are weak and you are strong. We also pray that you become fully mature. This is why I am writing these things while absent, that when I am there I will not use severity, in keeping with the authority the Lord gave me for building up and not for tearing down.
(2 Corinthians 13:1-10 HCSB)

Conservative Free Speech Group Withdraws Trademark Lawsuit Against Liberal Podcast

It started in February, when Young America’s Foundation, a conservative youth organization, filed a trademark infringement complaint against the two hosts, claiming that the podcast’s use of the phrase “Young Americans for Freedom” to describe one of its subscription levels was “likely to cause confusion” and “deception,” leading people to think the podcast is sponsored by the conservative campus group founded in 1960 by William F. Buckley.

The lawsuit, filed in the Federal District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, was not publicized by the foundation, and drew little notice. Then, on Tuesday, shortly before the podcast’s lawyers were to file a response, the group voluntarily withdrew it.

One of my favorite podcasts, Know Your Enemy got hit with a trademark infringement suit earlier this year by the Young America Foundation who claimed that KYE's obviously-satirical use of "Young Americans for Freedom" (the name of a predecessor to the Young America Foundation) as one of its membership tiers violated its intellectual property and could potentially confuse subscribers. (The other membership tiers are named "West Coast Straussians" and "John Birchers")

The conclusions one can draw from this are that either:

1.) That YAF truly believed that their conservative members couldn't tell the difference between a right-wing youth movement now led by former governor Scott Walker and a left-wing podcast run by two socialists in Brooklyn, or

2.) That the supposed champions of free speech chose to ignore a clear case of fair use and bury their political opponents in legal bills.

As it turns out, YAF may not actually own the trademark in question, so they withdrew the complaint while retaining the option to re-file it later.

For anybody interested in the intellectual history of the right, especially in the US since the beginning of the 20th century, KYE is a great podcast that delves into a lot of details not well known (and rarely discussed) outside of academic/think tank circles.

The word of righteousness……

Hebrews 5:13 (NASB20)
For everyone who partakes only of milk is unacquainted with the word of righteousness, for he is an infant.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Two partakings are being described in the above scripture…. The one ‘milk’ is described as the elementary teaching which consists of repentance from dead works and faith towards God…. Which is the first two things a believer must learn; repentance from dead works being a repentance from self, and all the works that self can produce, and then from that place of repentance from self put forth oneself as a living sacrifice, as one alive from the dead before God in faith…
These two first steps must all believe, know, and understand by experience…. That repentance from self and then a turning to God by faith from death is but the first two elementary steps in one’s walk towards the new life promised in scripture….
Then after these first two steps become one’s life, then the next step which turns out to be an eternal step, which is understanding the word of righteousness… For God’s will is always righteousness, the word of righteousness is whatever is the righteous thing in every circumstance and situation one finds oneself in…. For Christ did prove that the human body can be made to walk in righteousness, (for He was sinless in the body), it just matters who’s doing the living in the body, the choices being, Christ or self….
Therefore because of this proven truth, the first two steps must be taken first if one would have the life of Christ be one’s active power of life… Repentance from dead works and faith towards God, being the first two elementary principals of one’s walk towards the new life….
Then the walk towards and after the word of righteousness is that walk that forms Christ in one….
Be blessed in the life that is our’s if we would be willing to do the first two steps….
Unto Him be our all, Not me
Is spiritual rest superior to physical rest?
Or put another way is physical rest inferior to spiritual rest.
Holistic health is important and I'm not trying to say the body doesn't need physical rest or that routine physical rest is not a healthy focus. Physical rest is important but my question is if spiritual rest is of greater importance?
Given a choice would you deny spiritual rest with the reward of physical rest, or would you deny physical rest with the reward of spiritual rest?
Spiritual rest is salvation through Christ and denying that rest is tantamount to denying Chirst. So put another way would you deny Christ (spiritual rest) with the reward of your life (physical rest) or would you deny your life with the reward of Christ?
what does this show us about the role of spiritual rest and physical rest? Which is better to seek? Which is better to show our neighbour while at the cost of the other rest?
5 Heavenly Flowers To Plant This Fall
Fall planting season is approaching and nurseries everywhere are putting out their autumn seeds. Perhaps you want to refresh your spring/early summer garden. Maybe you are hoping to get to that garden work you didn’t quite fit in earlier this year. Either way, there are plenty of late-blooming plants available.
Something to consider as you choose your fall plants is the meaning behind each plant. Many botanical legends have been handed down through the centuries. Some originate in pre-Christian mythos, later assimilated into Catholic lore with Catholic meanings. Some sprang up in Catholic thought. This happened particularly frequently in the Middle Ages and Renaissance, which were important times for the study of plants and for Catholic symbolism alike.
Here follows 5 plants to consider for a late-blooming garden—perhaps one dedicated to Mary, Jesus, and the Saints!
White House spars with MTG after she conditions funding vote on Biden impeachment
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia says she won’t vote to fund the government unless there is an impeachment inquiry of President Biden, sparking immediate condemnation from the White House.
A question on repentance
Ok so, we all know that true repentance is a sign of salvation and does not really directly save a person but is a sign that they are saved. A truly saved person will always have repentance and works because it is the Holy Spirit that works these things in us.
But, my question is what makes a repentance a valid repentance? Surely it is more than just telling God you're sorry because even the heathens do that. My second question is what role does repentance have to do with our sinful lives? Surely if we repent of a sin it shouldn't keep going on.
Like say for example sexual sin which Paul tells us to flee from that as if it were the devil. But, if you continue sleeping around well then your repentance Surely wasn't valid was it?
Christology matters. Reject the false "Jesus" of The Chosen
Forgive me for posting this disturbing screenshot meant to dig at a concerned Christian at the expense of Jesus, but it was the catalyst for yet another discussion about creator Dallas Jenkins and his television series, The Chosen.
Screenshot+2023-08-18+at+2.29.04+PM.png
Facebook screenshot of Jenkins’ trolling of a concerned Christian. This vile and irreverent reference is Jenkins’ spiteful rejoinder to the faithful, reminding us that he is in control of the creation of the “Jesus” holding sway in the popular imagination—and that he’ll do exactly as he pleases with Jesus.
The following is slightly stream-of-consciousness, so forgive me for that. We can talk specifically about the troubling content of the show in the comments, but first I wanted to present some overarching principles to set the foundation for any further discussion. I’m tired, and it’s gonna ramble, but stay with me….
_______________
There's a reason we are careful with Christology and why there are "rules" we don't transgress.
When we step outside divine revelation and our 20 centuries of Catholic patrimony, particularly regarding the Person of Christ, we get disaster. We get heresy. We get blasphemy. It’s the same reason we are not permitted to take biblical interpretation past the bounds of the Deposit of Faith and the teaching of the Catholic Church that gave us that Bible. If we know anything at all as Christians, we know that we do not mess around with Jesus. He is not our plaything. He is not a puppet on a string. We are not permitted to remake Him in our own image.
Unfortunately, remaking Jesus in his own image is exactly what Dallas Jenkins has done in The Chosen, and countless good Catholics who are committed to the show are trying to make excuses for why this is okay. It is not okay.
Jenkins has created a lovable goofball Jesus figure who is fun and so "relatable." He's "just like us"—and that is the appeal. Everyone feels so loved! But we should note that Jenkins has created a Jesus-personality that is quite like himself and the bros in the cast and crew. This jolly Jesus (who has his own joke reels!) is not the Jesus of Christendom and Scripture (Jenkins admits as much), but rather a counterfeit that appeals to the modern masses... and that's the point.
The show is hugely popular with Christians, and the secular world is okay with this "Jesus," too, because he is inoffensive and not intimidating (women are the target audience, and it shows). He's the kind of “Jesus” who is quite happy with homosexual/transgeder flags, t-shirts, and pins on the set. (And if you object as a concerned Christian, you will be told to stop watching the show, you bigot. Publicly. True story.)
As the series continues into new seasons, and as Jenkins is increasingly affirmed by his riches and accolades, I predict that we will see more bold arrogance like the screenshot above. Snide, vulgar, rude. Sniping at a critic by stripping Jesus of His dignity... but, again, that’s the point.
Dallas Jenkins is the son of a prolific anti-Catholic writer, Jerry B. Jenkins (best known for the Left Behind series). The younger Jenkins grew up with and continues to be comfortable with anti-Catholicism, as evidenced by The Chosen’s three big social media accounts (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram) happily posting the following to their millions of followers. Yes indeed, the “good news” is that viewers don’t need their religion or their church to be saved. Now, what religion or Church could they be referring to?
How to beat the devil
If someone ask the evil spirit known as the devil something it has never been asked before or something the man by who that spirit comes doesnt know, that man will have to be solicited to answer that question, that gives a window of opurtunity to speak to the man by who the devil comes, if someone whould convince him on giving up on the devil since it is a fallen religious spirit the devil could be beaten.
Russian Ex-Priest Who Criticized Ukraine Offensive Jailed
A defrocked Russian priest who spoke out against Moscow's offensive in Ukraine was jailed for three years Thursday, after a court found him guilty of spreading "fake news" about the army.
The Russian Orthodox Church, led by Patriarch Kirill — an ally of President Vladimir Putin — has mostly backed the Kremlin's offensive and often portrays it in religious terms.
But some clergy have spoken out against Moscow's role in the conflict.
Ioann Kurmoyarov, who ran a YouTube channel called the "Orthodox Virtual Parish," was charged after allegedly posting "several videos with false information about the use of the Russian army."
"Kurmoyarov fully admitted his guilt and repented," the court said in a statement Thursday.
Russia’s Religious Leaders Who Criticized the Ukraine War
It said he would serve his three-year sentence in a general regime correctional facility and would be banned from posting on the internet for two years.
Kurmoyarov had already been stripped of his priesthood in April 2022, according to rights group Amnesty International.
Russia has led an unprecedented crackdown on dissent as troops fight in Ukraine.
Moscow has outlawed public opposition to the conflict, jailing or fining dozens of dissidents.
Most opposition figures have either fled Russia or are behind bars, and thousands of ordinary Russians have been detained for protesting against the Ukraine campaign.
Patriarch Kirill has repeatedly defended Moscow's actions in Ukraine, and last year said President Vladimir Putin's rule had been mandated by God.
