Sadly a number of Episcopalian bishops are more interested in playing politics than in spreading the Gospel.
She also mentioned something about the Bible. Which probably are not in the pews in that church.
Look, in fairness it is none of my business how to run the United States of America. Clearly however I am not without concern for my brothers and sisters in humanity in troubled times.
As an observer I have come to the conclusion that the 45th POTUS is very concerned about 'optics'. The photo opportunity (and I use the term loosely because it was significantly a manufactured opportunity) of DJT standing outside a boarded up St John's Washington holding a well read Bible in the air to create the image of the leader who stands for all that is honourable and true. The vast amount of footage of the various brands of US Law Enforcement using stun bombs, teargas, mounted police, and sheer storm trooper enforcement to push back the protesters is to be ignored.
Should George Floyd be breathing today? Yes. Why isn't he. Because 4 Law Enforcement personnel exceeded their mandate, in a way that repulsed most reasonable people in the world. The streets of the USA today are telling us that it is time to address the issues. More Force will not fix the problem. Domination won't fix the problem.
The 35th President of the United States said, “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.” and whilst he misattributed the source, the truth holds.
Things that will help fix the problem include, love, listening and respect for each other.
Justice is not about brutal enforcement of the rule of law. Justice is about fairness, and that includes equitable distribution of the communities resources, equitable access to justice, education, and the right to be heard.
The UN Declaration on Human Rights, which the wife of the 32nd President of the United stands had a major hand in is worth reading. Here are the first 10.
