Virginia’s Audrey O’Neill — With a Recipe for Stuffed Manicotti

Stuffed Manicotti (Adapted)

Ingredients:

  • One 8-ounce box of manicotti shells — uncooked
  • About 2 1/2 pounds skinned and boneless chicken breasts or tenderloins (If they are semi-thawed, they are easier to cut in strips)
  • Salt, pepper, oregano/Italian seasonings, garlic powder, onion powder to taste
  • One 24-ounce jar of marinara sauce or more as needed
  • Shredded mozzarella cheese
  • One 9x13-inch Pyrex baking dish

Directions:

Heat the oven to 350 degrees F. Spray the Pyrex dish with non-stick spray.

Cut the chicken into strips, place them in a bowl and season with salt, pepper, oregano/Italian seasonings, garlic powder and onion powder. Eyeball it according to your taste.

Take the uncooked shells and stuff them front/back with the seasoned raw chicken. Use your fingers or a fork to feed the shells. Place them in the dish with some marinara sauce on the bottom of the dish. Keep on stuffing and lining them up in the dish all in a row. Once you have filled the dish, cover the manicotti shells with the sauce, and if you have to add more liquid, add a little water to the jar, swoosh it around, and pour over the shells. Make sure the shells are covered in liquid. You might need another jar of sauce depending on how many you are making.

Cover the shells with shredded mozzarella cheese — some like it smothered in cheese. Cover the dish with aluminum foil.

Place in the oven and cook for 60 minutes. Uncover the dish and let it brown on top. Remove the dish and let stand for 10 minutes or so. Serve with a green vegetable or tossed green salad and a baguette.

(This can be made ahead of time, stored in the fridge or freezer, reheated in the microwave.)

Bon Appétit!

Biden unveils plan to term limit Supreme Court justices, citing recent ‘extreme’ decisions

President Joe Biden on Monday unveiled a proposal to reform the United States Supreme Court by adding term limits and an ethics code, saying he was motivated in part by the overturning of Roe v. Wade and other recent rulings.

In a July 29 op-ed for the Washington Post attributed to Biden, the president said “term limits would help ensure that the court’s membership changes with some regularity.” The plan would give justices one 18-year term. The president would appoint one justice every two years, which would ensure that the Supreme Court continues to have nine justices.

“The United States is the only major constitutional democracy that gives lifetime seats to its high court,” Biden continued. “Term limits would help ensure that the court’s membership changes with some regularity. That would make timing for court nominations more predictable and less arbitrary. It would reduce the chance that any single presidency radically alters the makeup of the court for generations to come.”

Wayne LaPierre resigns as NRA head

Judge declines to appoint monitor for NRA but hands former CEO Wayne LaPierre a 10-year ban

The split decision from Judge Joel Cohen came on the final day of arguments in the second stage of the civil trial of the NRA brought by New York Atty. Gen. Letitia James.

[The first stage resulted in the repayments and finding of liability above. I gather the second stage was about future remedies.]

Jacob BURIED the idols under the oak at Shechem

NIV Genesis 35:

4 They gave Jacob all the foreign gods they had and the rings in their ears, and Jacob buried them under the oak at Shechem.
buried
וַיִּטְמֹ֤ן (way·yiṭ·mōn)
Conjunctive waw | Verb - Qal - Consecutive imperfect - third person masculine singular
Strong's 2934: To hide, conceal

At Biblehub, 15 versions translated it as "hid"; 12 used "buried".

This Hebrew word appears 31 times in the OT. The primary meaning is to hide.

NASB Translation: buries (2), concealed (2), discarded (1), held in reserve (1), hid (8), hidden (9), hide (5), hiding (1), laying...secretly (1), secretly laid (1).

It's almost as if he was putting them there for safekeeping. What's with that?

Probably not.

Pulpit Commentary:

Jacob hid them - having probably first destroyed them, since they do not appear to have been ever after sought for or resumed by the parties who gave them up
Gill's comment was similar:

and Jacob hid them under the oak which was by Shechem; that is, the idols, which, after he had broke to pieces, perhaps, he dug a hole under an oak, and there buried them, that they might be no more made use of in an idolatrous way
Jacob didn't just hide the idols; he buried them forever.

Alex wins debate with James White on Sola Scriptura

I used to think that. For some I guess it's true. They want power. For most, I know the reason. As someone who went from Confessional Lutheran, to years long infatuation with the Catholic Church, to eventually becoming Orthodox, to then finding what I thought was home in Catholicism, to then reconciling with the Orthodox Church, I understand the real root of the issue for genuine seekers of God. It's who do we believe and who do we trust? And seeing the scandals and the evils in the churches, people are lead to the pure thing: Scripture. In my in between phases that was always my comfort and even if I knew I couldn't interpret all of it correctly, I knew it was pure and it was God's very word. That means a lot.
Yes, the scriptures are entirely about life on earth getting to Heaven and knowing Our Creator absolutely love love loves us.
It is a written record that no other written can match for clarity, and knowing how much we are loved, nor does any other written compare to longevity.
Everything we need to seek answers.

Though many want power and do break off interpreting it without a teacher, as St John Chrysostom said we have in the Roman Pope, we were warned about doing so ourselves by St Peter.
And that - that confounds me. If one reads scripture, is it a wonder they overlook that very severe warning.

‘Divine judgment’: Pastor John MacArthur on Biden, Trump, immorality and the Church

Here is a teaching that I found to help me explain the types of wrath. Is God Judging America Today?
It goes into why America is not getting forsaking wrath but it is based on the idea that God judges the church, not the nations in the NT era. McArthur notes the church is in trouble as well.

What scares me though is if God were also going to judge materialism, don't you think that Trump would be a stellar example of who to put in charge? Perhaps we would even see an example of true repentance with an entire change of focus? Immorality and wealth abuse, are not uncommon themes together. The judgment on Eli's sons, I Sam 2, included both.

The McArthur article is good to note the that change is from within. This is in contrast to New Apostolic Reformation types that McArthur addresses in the end that see God changing America from the Seven Mountains of key influence that do not require the masses. Trump's entourage of Christians include these domionist's types that believe they can reshape America and that things are going to get better. So in judging the excesses, God may very well want Trump because he represents exactly who God wants to set as an example, and again I think Trump could have true brokenness that would be Godly which is so different than what most expect. Too many saying peace, safety, prosperity etc. The excesses of all that hyper-preaching is going to fall and Trump may very well be in office.

So while many are voting for "make America great again" it is filled with irony as I see it. The path to greatness is through humbleness and repentance. This path is so different than what most think no matter who gets elected. It is a path of severe discipline and pain. It will eliminate all the excesses, as people (likely worldwide) will move down the hierarchy of Maslow's needs to survival and safety, eliminating the morass of all the perverse stuff that has risen in the last decades. The Great Depression was impactful in a good way to those most effected by it. Many reset their lives in order, a simpler and more moral version of love and kindness to others. Not the corporate and political garbage of environmentalism, equality and "love" that comes in various perverted ways. It was God's love that ignited in an atmosphere of lack. That is where I am hopeful we are headed.

In practical terms, if this is right even partially, voting for Trump really is God's will. He is a King like parts of America wants, sort of like King Saul. What remains to be seen though is whether he will become even more humble. He has been through so much already. I think there is the chance that unlike King Saul, he could really change and become a leader like God desires.

Time Periods

Do you think there could be any future, additional plans?

In 1 Kings 19 God tells Elijah not to worry about God's plans by thinking he is the only one left and they are trying to kill him. God tells him he has 7,000 people he can use.
God suggested to Moses that he could kill of the nation of Israel and make a new nation out of him. We are told that God can raise up children for Abraham out of rocks. There does not seem much that can limit God.

God gave us free will. Satan made the mistake of thinking he could outfox God and carve out a kingdom for himself. I suspect that there is nothing in the realm of free will that can limit God.

Some Among Us Walk in Idleness

God did not call us to his service so that we would sit around just giving pleasure to ourselves.
Yeah good point. Im one who is retired, worked for over 40 years have pension plans and have others things that have set myself up quite well. It is hard to call some things people do wrong or sin....I think each one really need to be honest with themselves though. Are they being excessive with doing nothing or not much. I think many do look for a right balance. I work in my church's refreshment area, lead home groups but just thinking the other day I need to do something more.

I still do have a lot of time. Thought came to me I could travel the world if I wanted to like some of our friends do but in all this travel what is one doing for the Kingdom of God? Do we truly want months and months where were not truly doing anything for the Kingdom? I'm sure some can incorporate that some way in their travel....not sure many do though. It keeps coming back to me....I want my life to count. No I'm not saying it wrong for someone to travel....could be not wrong at all.....but also one should ask what is the plan you actually have to be outputting strength to the body of Christ. We must make our lives count.

Can some be predestined and others have free will

Paul's letter to the Christians at Ephesus before the New Covenant? Surely not! And, as we read in 1 Corinthians, before a person becomes a Christian the things of God are foolishness to him:

“But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know [them], because they are spiritually discerned.” (1Co 2:14 NKJV)

Why would he take steps in something he regards as foolishness?

I do agree with your final sentence. It is so important that a Christian's life should match his profession of faith.
What you say is correct. The ways of God are foolishness to men which is why the first three of the seven heavenly virtues are called theological virtues, because they come from God alone. These three are Faith, Hope, and Charity.
The natural man can know three things about God through the light of reason. This has been done by philosophers of old that reasoned by first principles. First principles have been abandoned by modern science which is why we see the chaos and atheism we have today.

The three things about God that can be reached by the light of reason are, God exists, God is intelligent, I am not God. We see this in all the cultures that have developed in history. This reasoning results in paganism and idolatry but does not lead to saving faith. Modern thought sees the futility of idolatry and turns to atheism and insists the natural state of man is atheistic.

Even secular scientists are now seeing that atheistic materialism is an absurd position. They are beginning to recognize that there is an intelligence in the Universe, although the atheists currently hold the political power and use ridicule and coercion to silence objections. We know the fool says in his heart there is no God. Human beings are incapable of worshipping the true God by their own reason.

We read in Ezekiel 36, which is before the New Covenant

26 And I will give you a new heart, and put a new spirit within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and will give you a heart of flesh. 27 And I will put my spirit in the midst of you: and I will cause you to walk in my commandments, and to keep my judgments, and do them. 28 And you shall dwell in the land which I gave to your fathers, and you shall be my people, and I will be your God. 29 And I will save you from all your uncleannesses: and I will call for corn, and will multiply it, and will lay no famine upon you. 30 And I will multiply the fruit of the tree, and the increase of the field, that you bear no more the reproach of famine among the nations.

31 And you shall remember your wicked ways, and your doings that were not good: and your iniquities, and your wicked deeds shall displease you.

Sounds like Christian preaching to me, or at least it should be

Trump says he will return to Butler for another rally after assassination attempt

I ride a bicycle on the road. I've been "buzzed" by cars on purpose just for kicks a few times. Pretty sure getting hit head on by a car going 55+ is a death sentence. Unfortunately, it's not a matter of if, but when I eventually get hit by a vehicle. I'm not brave. I'm just a guy riding a bike. Is this related to Trump getting shot at? Eh, probably.

So You Say

So you say you go to church
Fellowship you do not search
Walking with Christ not your thing
Offerings to Christ not bring

Live your life the way you want
Though religion you do flaunt
Follow idols, that’s your gig
True commitments, not so big

Selfishness it rules your life
Sinful practices, they are rife
Wasting time on what’s just trash
Not consider God to ask

Hypocrite, that’s who you are
You will not get very far
Time is ticking, going by
While your sins from God you hide

He’s not blinded to your plight
Knows you’ve given up the fight
Knows you’ve given into sin
Knows you’re losing, not to win

If surrender to Him do
He’ll forgive you, through and through,
Give you new life to begin
If you give up all for Him

“You hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy of you, when he said: ‘This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far from me; in vain do they worship me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’” Matthew 15:7-9 ESV

The Firstfruits to Be Saved

“But we ought always to give thanks to God for you, brothers beloved by the Lord, because God chose you as the firstfruits to be saved, through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth. To this he called you through our gospel, so that you may obtain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. So then, brothers, stand firm and hold to the traditions that you were taught by us, either by our spoken word or by our letter.
“Now may our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father, who loved us and gave us eternal comfort and good hope through grace, comfort your hearts and establish them in every good work and word.” (2 Thessalonians 2:13-17 ESV)

These words were penned by the apostle Paul, as he was carried along by the Holy Spirit. But the letter is from Paul, Silas, and Timothy, and to the church of the Thessalonians in God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. And at least this section of the letter was for the purpose to encourage the church, the body of Christ, the body of believers in Jesus Christ who were of genuine God-persuaded and God-gifted faith in the Lord Jesus.

Paul stated that the Christians were chosen of God from the beginning to be saved, and the Scriptures bear that out that those who are of genuine faith in the Lord Jesus were chosen by God even before the creation of the world to be saved, through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth. And that last phrase there is critical to our understanding of what true salvation from sin really is. For it is not generated by our own flesh.

And this salvation is not what is commonly being taught today. For we who believe in Jesus with God-provided faith in him were predestined to be conformed the likeness of Jesus Christ. And we were saved and called to a holy calling, by God’s grace, and to be holy is to be separate (different) from the world because we are being made to be like Jesus. And we are to be obedient to God, no longer conformed to the passions of our sinful flesh.

[Jer 1:1-19; Psalms 139:13-16; Acts 26:18; Rom 1:6-7,18-23; Rom 6:15-21; Rom 8:28-29; 1 Co 1:9; 1 Co 12:1-31; Gal 5:13; Eph 1:3-4; 1 Thess 4:1-8; 2 Tim 1:8-9; Heb 10:26-31; 1 Pet 1:14-16; 1 Pet 2:9; 2 Pet 1:3]

So, this salvation does not come about by us giving lip service to the Lord and claiming faith in him and in what he did for us on that cross. It is persuaded of God and is gifted to us by God, as is the faith to believe in Christ, and not one of us can be saved by our own human effort. For our faith and salvation are not of the flesh of man, not of our own doing, but we are saved from our sins only because the Father drew us to himself.

[Hebrews 12:1-2; Ephesians 2:8-10; John 1:12-13; John 6:44]

Now let me go back to that highlighted phrase. We are saved through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth. And sanctification is a process of the Spirit in making us holy, different from the world, because we are now being conformed to the likeness of character of Jesus Christ. But this involves our cooperation with the Spirit’s work of salvation and sanctification in our hearts and minds, resulting in godly behavior.

And we are saved through belief in the truth. And this is where it gets sticky, for “the truth” that so many are teaching today is not the truth that Jesus taught and that his NT apostles taught. It is partially the truth, but which dilutes and alters that truth to make it more acceptable and appeasing to human flesh and less offensive to the ungodly of the world. So they teach that you can profess faith, but still continue in sin, and still be saved.

But Jesus taught that if anyone would come after him that he must deny self, take up his cross daily (die daily to sin) and follow (obey) him. For if we hold on to (save) our old lives of living in sin and for self, we will lose them for eternity. But if for Jesus’ sake we deny self (lose our lives), die daily to sin, and follow him in obedience to his commands, in practice, then we have the hope of salvation from sin and eternal life with God (Luke 9:23-26).

For we are called to faith in Jesus Christ through the preaching of the gospel that Jesus taught and that his NT apostles taught, as taught in the appropriate biblical context. And they taught that, by faith in Jesus Christ, we are crucified with Christ in death to sin and raised with Christ to walk in newness of life in him, no longer to live as slaves to sin but now as slaves to God and to his righteousness, and that constitutes genuine salvation.

Now when Paul said, “stand firm and hold to the traditions that you were taught by us,” these were not human traditions passed down to us by our ancestors from generation to generation. These were biblical instructions of God, given to the apostles, and then handed down from the apostles to the people, which then have been handed down to us from generation to generation. We are to hold firm to the teachings for us of the apostles.

But let me add a word of caution here. So many people today are teaching the Scriptures out of context. They pull certain verses out of context and then they twist them to make them say what they don’t teach if taught in context, and believe me when I say that is absolutely deliberate! At least it is deliberate by those who initiated the teachings of these Scriptures out of context, but it is negligent for teachers to not teach them in context.

And please know that the grace of God is not free license for us to continue living in sin. God’s grace, which is bringing us salvation, is training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives. For Jesus Christ “gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works” “which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” (Titus 2:11-14; Ephesians 2:8-10)

[Matt 7:21-23; Lu 9:23-26; John 10:27-30; Acts 26:18; Rom 2:6-8; Rom 6:1-23; Rom 8:1-14; Rom 12:1-2; 1 Co 6:9-10,19-20; 1 Co 10:1-22; 2 Co 5:10,15,21; Gal 5:16-24; Gal 6:7-8; Eph 2:8-10; Eph 4:17-32; Eph 5:3-6; Col 1:21-23; Col 3:1-17; Titus 2:11-14; 1 Jn 1:5-10; 1 Jn 2:3-6,24-25; 1 Jn 3:4-10; 1 Pet 2:24; Heb 3:1-19; Heb 4:1-13; Heb 10:23-31; Heb 12:1-2]

Songs in the Night

An Original Work / December 18, 2013

“About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them.” Acts 16:25 NIV ‘84

Lord, I praise You forevermore.
You, my Savior, I now adore.
Hope in heaven awaiting me,
Because You died at Calvary.

I have been forgiven,
And I’m bound for heaven.
Jesus set me free from
All my sin, I say.
I will praise Him always!

Lord, I love You for all You’ve done:
Overcame death, my vict’ry won!
Jesus saved me, and now I’m free!
I rejoice in His love for me.

I will walk in vict’ry!
My sin is but hist’ry!
I am free to please Him
With my life today.
I will love Him always!

Lord, I thank You for giving me
A new life bought at Calvary.
Loving Jesus, I meet with Him.
Tender mercies now flow within.

Lord, I am so thankful;
Through my Lord, I’m able
To sit at His table;
Fellowship with Him.
I will thank Him always!

Which VP Choice Would Help Harris Most In Winning The Presidency And Why?

There is much more to gain in picking Shapiro. Shapiro is a very, very popular governor. He favors school choice, and idea teacher dislike a lot, but all the rest is positive. He should appeal to younger voters and should help lock down PA. He should be a fine campaigner and debater.
============
If the vote is close as the polls indicate, there would be five swing states: AZ, WI, NC, PA and MI. I presume that Trump will take GA and Nevada in any close election.
===========
Kelly (AZ) and Cooper (NC) will work hard for Harris in their own states. All the Democratic rust belt governors will help out in WI, include the governors of MN, WI, MI, PA, and IL.
=======
As the media has pointed out, Harris will likely win if she wins in PA, MI and WI. She could also win with either AZ or NC in place of WI.
======
Trump is favored, but the presidency could be winnable for Harris.
Harris might pick her VP in the next week or so (7 days from now).

Harris VP pick may be possible in the next week:

Hosanna Lyrics (Original by Hillsong, cover released 2008):

[Verse 1]
I see the King of glory
Coming on the clouds with fire
The whole earth shakes
The whole earth shakes, yeah

[Verse 2]
I see His love and mercy
Washing over all our sin
The people sing
The people sing

[Chorus]
Hosanna, hosanna
Hosanna in the highest
Hosanna, hosanna
Hosanna in the highest

[Verse 3]
I see a generation
Rising up to take their place
With selfless faith
With selfless faith

[Verse 4]
I see a near revival
Stirring as we pray and seek
We're on our knees
We're on our knees

[Chorus]
Hosanna, hosanna
Hosanna in the highest
Hosanna, hosanna
Hosanna in the highest

[Bridge]
Heal my heart and make it clean
Open up my eyes to the things unseen
Show me how to love like You have loved me
Break my heart for what breaks Yours
Everything I am for Your Kingdom's cause
As I walk from earth into eternity

[Chorus]
Hosanna, hosanna
Hosanna in the highest
Hosanna, hosanna
Hosanna in the highest
Hosanna, hosanna
Hosanna in the highest
Hosanna, hosanna
Hosanna in the highest

[Outro]
Hosanna in the highest
In the highest,in the highest
Hosanna, Hosanna in the highest

J. D. Vance and 'Catholic Integralism'.

Liberals generally want freedom. But they seem to want to support only their definition of what they should be free to do. Whether Communist, Nazi, Atheist, or Radical Activist they want the freedom to act outside the bounds of Christian standards.
Liberals, big central governments advocates, want to politically control those who they consider the non-elites, aka, the deplorables. They are only bounded by their own subjective notions as to what is good for everyone. And wish to do so on a grand scale e.g., the The Green New Deal.

1 Kings 18:46-19:21 and Luke 23:1-24:53

I KINGS 18:46-19:21

In this study, we see a second example of “zeal” for Adonai. Israel was again, bowing down and worshipping Baal, and Eliyahu (Elijah) had enough and decided to do something about it. He initiated a contest between YHVH and Baal. Whoever answers the prayers and brings down fire to devour the animal sacrifices, that “god” would be GOD, who the Israelites would worship from then on.

Of course, we know who won the contest. Yet as soon as Jezebel, the queen and wicked wife of King Ahab, heard this, and was told that Eliyahu had the 450 priests of Baal slain, she sent a “death threat” to Elihayu. Well, he ran to Mt Horeb in Saudi Arabia, hundreds and hundreds of miles away. There he hid out for a while.

There are times when a “man of God” or a “woman of God” can pretty much be tired out, exhausted, and they need a rest. Eliyahu was no different. Adonai understood that. He allowed him to rest, sending an angel to cook for him and reassuring him that there were 7000 Israelites that did not bow the knee to Baal! Elihayu’s mission wasn’t quite over yet, he still had a job to do before being taken up to Heaven in a chariot of fire. Now that was quite a hot exit!

When we serve the LORD, we work to the best of our anointed abilities, yet we need to know when to rest. Not quit mind you. Quitting and resting are two different things. Serving Adonai in ministry is a life calling, ending only at death! So, continue to serve YHVH, in this way, we show our zeal. Always allow yourself a time for personal "Shabbat" time, a time for rest and relaxation. A walk in the woods, a trip to the beach, leaving the cell phone at home, or turned off. Even a trip to the desert would be interesting, that's where Yeshua/Jesus went to be alone with the Father. Just remember to bring water.

LUKE 23:1-24:53

We have seen in the above cases, “zeal” for YHVH, yet in this case, we see YESHUA himself, who the zeal was directed to, in his case, he was the “lamb to the slaughter”. Remained silent in front of his accusers, before Pilate and Herod. There is a time for a believer to protest, to speak out, and there is a time to remain silent. For this reason, Yeshua came into the world. Not to claim kingship then, yet the whole earth was his to rule. His mission was to teach the Torah, heal the sick, and to die for our sins.

Yes, there were times when he got incensed and angry, and there were times when he showed his power, yet on the final day of his earthly life, it was a time to be silent, yet a time to forgive his accusers, to accept the nails, and to say; “Father, forgive them, they know not what they do!’ “Aba, Sh’vook l’hoon la ge’ir yadeen mana av’deen” (Aramaic) and “It is finished” “ha m’shalam” (Aramaic) seems like the translation is saying “the peace’ (is restored)

Zeal can come in two forms, aggressive, and passive, we need to know when to use them.
