  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

You know, I read the book today. It seemed quite harmless to me. As far as secrets, there are children’s harmless secrets and always has been. If the concern is child molestation and their molesters swearing them to secrecy, well that is something parents need to discuss with their children to understand the difference. Is it just me?

I have not read the book, admittedly, but I have to say I think children's minds go to a much different place hearing this story than some adult minds go to. Next, will we be banning the surprise birthday party because secrets are bad? Or, is it only some secrets that are bad? Can we not teach the difference?

My thoughts exactly. While we use tools to teach, it’s up to the parents to help a child discern. You can see the book read on YouTube. I mean, it did not set off any alarms with me.
