  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Learning to lay it down and let it go

Years ago, during a specific season of anxiety and other struggles, I sought out the grace of God by going to confession. There, I told the priest the many worries I had in my heart. Little did he know that what he told me during that confession would influence me almost every day thereafter. He said, “Ask the Holy Spirit for strength and courage.” I knew I needed courage. I didn’t feel strong or confident about the challenge I was facing. While I knew God was in control, I wasn’t sure about the details.

Sometimes, we try as hard as possible to keep holding on to whatever we are facing instead of surrendering and letting go. We might know we need to surrender, but we don’t know how.

In our world, there are many concerns around us. What is happening in our country? Will we have another pandemic? Will we go to war? Will our Church survive with discord, strife and corruption? There’s only one way to survive these days of uncertainty. We need to pray, trust in God, and lay it down and let it go!

Gavin's got a podcast

I haven't listened to it, but I struggle to imagine what there is to glean by interviewing professional outrage hucksters and bad faith actors like Charlie Kirk. Last time I listened to Michael Savage (probably 15-20 years ago), he was just this side of Alex Jones, so I wonder what value is there, too. I can see how Steve Bannon could be interesting, but he could also be as bad as the other two, if not worse. EK is always a good interview, and he said Tim Walz was one of the best politician guests he's ever had, so I can imagine both of those being good.

idk... I like listening to interviews with smart conservatives - see Klein's recent interview with Yuval Levin - but what Newsome is doing doesn't really seem like that. He's just going for people who are popular.
It could be "skewed history" a bit to compare savage to Alex Jones... Perhaps he seemed "extreme right" to some 20 years ago when just about every candidate and pundit was somewhat "wishy washy".

I queued up a couple interesting snippets.
And this one
...where Savage recounts telling Trump NOT to gut the HHS.

Savage: here's the problem with RFK Jr, he doesn't have the nuance or the subtlety to understand a lot of it and even when he was appointed I was sending messages to Trump saying you can't eliminate the entire Health and Human Services Department there are some good Sciences in the scientists in the NIH you can't throw the baby out with the bathwater... slow down... all revolutionaries as you know left and right want to start from the beginning you can't do it... you can't fire every scientist, I try to tell him that without any luck.

Many people don't realize that Savage is a multi-dicipline PhD from Berkely and was very critical of the "covid downplaying" that right wing pundits were doing:

An April 16, 2020 New York Times feature article credited Savage for being one of the first in the media, especially the conservative media, to take the COVID-19 epidemic seriously. On his radio show Savage used his credentials—a PhD with training in epidemiology—to speak to his fans on coronavirus research: How the virus is transmitted; which treatments were proving effective; and the difference between morbidity and mortality rates. "Savage's views were a departure from those of other conservative commentators, who made a concerted effort to deny that they downplayed the epidemic. Savage attacked their credibility and demanded that they be held accountable for misleading millions of Americans." As early as February 24, 2020, Savage was saying of Limbaugh and Hannity: "How can we not let our side be called on the carpet when they lie to the people?"

That doesn't sound very "Alex Jones-like"

I would say give that episode a chance, it was quite interesting.

Distracted during prayer? Here are 5 tips to help you focus

On an average college day, I was in my dorm room praying a Rosary with a few friends when I realized my mind had been wandering for the entire first decade. I always find it more difficult to pray with a group of people because it feels louder and it’s harder to focus, but I am aware of the benefits of praying with friends, as well.

I quickly attempted to refocus myself before we began the next Sorrowful Mystery. Instinctively, I sat up a little straighter, adjusted my fingers to the correct rosary bead, and turned my gaze to the little crucifix hanging on the opposite wall above my bed.

These little motions help. It is so habitual and instinctual to adjust our posture and gaze when trying to concentrate, whether in prayer or while studying. But why does this work?

Good people go heaven, Evil people go hell?

When I tell a non-believer that anyone who believed in Jesus and his finished work will be able to go heaven, they cannot accept it because it is unfair. It doesn’t matter what man thinks. But in the end, all man will be judge by God. So only what God think matters.
What God thinks truly is always righteous, and to think otherwise doesn't change that.
The righteous judge is the one that rewards persons. Romans 2:6; Revelation 22:12

I tell persons that anyone who keeps Gods commandments, will inherit everlasting life on a cleansed earth.
Many are shocked, but at the same time, optimistic about actually living on this earth in conditions God promised. Matthew 5:5; Revelation 21:3-5

They are happy though, when they actually see it in the Bible, and many want to learn more, since it so contrasts life as it is now.
It's good news to them.

What I have learned about demons/demon possession

I was demon possessed for 17 years, and God and angels have revealed many things to me, you’re just going to have to trust me.
If you are demon possessed you need an exorcism.
  • Demons cannot read your thoughts/mind. They can only hear you if you talk out loud.
  • They can only appear in human form, or as a voice in your head or a voice in the air, they can also seem to talk from another person, who is not a demon, as a disembodied voice in the air (as out of the dust of the earth (Isaiah 29:4)).
  • There are familiar spirits who appear as a known person, they can even appear as your own parents or brother, and fool you, even as Saul was fooled by the demon appearing as his best friend Samuel (1 Samuel 28:15). [The only difference I have been able to discern is their faces look more blackly lined (in the folds/wrinkles, if that makes sense), and they look evil.] Except they are evil, and say and do evil things (eg. mostly abuse).
  • There are also demons who appear as people who do not already exist, they are just demons.
  • They are afraid of crosses, and will try to get rid of them, plus they refuse to draw/make a cross, but they can be tricked into doing so, eg. making them draw a compass, or cutting dough or soda bread into four in a cross shape, this seems to make that demon leave you alone for a day.
  • They cannot acknowledge Jesus (1 John 4:3), or say the name of Jesus, God, love, care, Holy Spirit, angel, Christ. If they seem to, it is something else doing this, angels can be disembodied voices too. Demons will also never hug you, if so it’s something else doing this.
  • They cannot confess Jesus Christ as having come in the flesh (1 John 4:2), or say ‘I confess that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh’, or ‘I acknowledge that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh’. They cannot say ‘Jesus is Lord’, or ‘Jesus is the Christ’.
  • Demons never pretend to be God, or an angel, only God and angels can announce that they are God or angels.
  • Demonic voices do not listen to you, they have pre-learned arguments that go on despite what you say (or thoughts you think they hear you say.) (They don’t hear you think in your mind.)
  • If an angel acknowledges that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh, then sometimes they are just telling you they are there, and protecting you, if a demon says something next/before that is evil.
  • They cannot give you dreams/nightmares/sleep paralysis, this is just nightmares and PTSD. And dreams are from God.
  • They cannot give you visions (closed eye visuals before you go to sleep eg. demonic faces that cannot harm you (God showing you that you are demon possessed and protecting you from them), scary angels appearing as aliens, or black silhouettes, strange visions with meanings from God, or happy visions (every good and perfect gift is from God (James 1:17)), non-human hallucinations or visual hallucinations, these are from God.
  • There are no demonic spirits floating around in the air, there are only angels and saints, and Jesus/God.
  • They cannot see through your eyes, or observe/hear you by floating around in the air beside you, they can only know what they observe from human being-shaped demons/familiar spirits- even in the form of your mum.
  • There is no such thing as advanced technology that can do what demons do, it’s demons.
  • Angels are disembodied footsteps, buzzing, moving objects, levitation, sounds of wings, lights turning off/on/flickering, etc., the sound of chains is the prayers of the sea.
  • God makes them look demonic, fuzzy/wavy, to let you know they are demons.
  • Demons don’t say your thoughts as you think them (it’s what you think in another voice), that’s angels.
  • They give you delusions by telling you evil things, I suppose PTSD does the rest.
  • They know where you are all the time because they possess you. I assume some appear in whichever location you are in if you are far away.
  • They know things about you by a human-shaped demon being with you, if you tell something to a human-shaped demon, other demons can know what you told.
  • They stalk you around wherever you are, honking horns, verbally abusing you, insults, comments, having conversations about you, gestures, coughing, etc.
  • They appear as your own family to abuse you.
  • I believe that demons are creations of witchcraft and magic arts by witches and those who practice magic arts by maybe some sort of spiritual projection, maybe many as one demon in itself, and as many demons also. They are not fallen angels, I don’t believe angels ever fell.
  • I believe that over ages of time, witches have developed forms of ritualised abuse, to make it as worse for people (especially children) as possible. Each possession potentially more bad abusively than the last. (Till exorcism, I suppose.)
  • There is a period of time, between 5 and 6 in the morning, when demonic voices appear not to be able to talk, is this the time, early in the morning, when Jesus got up to pray? (A holy time). Can the physical demons also not be or act at this time?
  • Demon possession happens when witches select you, so that they can do evil, and to do it worse. It’s not your fault.
  • It’s easy to distinguish using the test of spirits, it’s easy to talk to angels and God, just as easy as it was before, ‘God is not a God of disorder but of peace’ (1 Corinthians 14:33). It’s never your own voice.
  • We are told by Jesus to ‘beware the yeast of the Sadducees’ (Matthew 16:6), who, ‘believed in neither angels nor spirits’ (Acts 23:8), but there are angels, and there are Saints.
  • 3 is the number of the Trinity, and the time 3:33 in the morning, etc. is God protecting you, also knocking means that ‘God is there’.
  • Demonic voices don’t listen to you. Angels, Saints, and God do listen to you, another way of telling which is which.
Eventually, I got an exorcism, if only I had been brave enough to say out loud myself “In the name of Jesus Christ I command you to come out of me, without harming me, and never enter me again.” I would have been delivered, but I was too afraid to say this. So I got an exorcism online instead.

Texas Rep. Jasmine Crockett mocks Greg Abbott, who uses a wheelchair, as ‘Gov. Hot Wheels’

Um...

Off topic!
I was referring to his post, which someone characterized as "It's okay when my side does it "
His post was just asking to stay on topic.
My post was in response to someone who asked if disabled people got a pass on being mocked.
It's no more off topic than the other posts in this thread

Inside Biden deals: Business cohort jilted by Bidens after federal bust ready to testify to Congress

Archer, 49, is staring down a year-long prison sentence for securities fraud, a conviction that he believed Hunter Biden and President Biden should have protected him from.
His testimony was a nothingburger, but I guess he still deserves a bone.

Trump issues pardon for Hunter Biden's ex-business partner Devon Archer

"Many people have asked me to do this," Mr. Trump said before signing the pardon. "I think he was treated very unfairly. And I looked at the record, studied the records, and he was. He was a victim of a crime, as far as I'm concerned. So we're going to undo that."

"Congratulations, Devon," the president said after signing the pardon.

Europe Is Now Alone (well, with US guarantees)

And with Trump there are talks showing signs of compromise.
Which signs?

We have a ceasefire in the Black Sea (where the Ukraine has defeated the Russian Navy<, so this is a good thing for Putin), and on infrastructure (Russian attacks on infrastructure are predominantly in the winter, so next to nothing hurt fore Putin) - and the rest of the war goes on as before.

In exchange to that, Putin wants all sanctions aganist Russia to be stopped.
He has never said that - that is the result of someone's impression or imagination.
The actions tell that. How often has the world be warned by Poland or Baltic states warned before Putin? How often has Putin lied, and now we hear from Washington he is sincere? When Trump shoes trust in Putin, he beleives Putin more than the NATO allies who don't trust Putin - because experience has taught us not to trust a known liar.

Do not awaken or arouse love until it pleases!

The Shulammite described her intimate romantic experience in (NET) SS 2:

He gazed into her eyes. It produced an effect on her:

She felt weak on the knees.

He made his move.

Hold it. At this point, she abruptly switched scenes and addressed the maidens:

תָּעִ֧ירוּ, H5782 hifil verb
Do not cause love to awake

תְּעֽוֹרְר֛וּ, same H5782 but in piel intensifying form
Do not arouse or stir love vigorously.

Don’t intensify love before its time. It's a warning to herself and other maidens against prematurely triggering love. Don't cross the red line. Love is a powerful force:

SS 8:

She reiterated the warning against igniting love before its time in 3:5 and 8:4 under similar circumstances of physical intimacy with her beloved (boyfriend). It is a timeless piece of wisdom about respecting the powerful force and sanctity of love, allowing it to flourish in its proper time.
All a presage of Christ's love for His church.
Oh to feel such love that is not evident on earth.
I can hardly wait for the day of resurrection from the dead !!!!

The Doctrine of Balaam

Hippy culture today, Witches orgiastic rites in Medieval Europe, Bacchantes in ancient Rome, Maenads in Bronze Age Greece, Inanna cult of ancient Sumer

All share virtually identical combinations of sex, drugs and alcohol, music. (If you care about all the details ask Grok to compare them for you.)

History has been repeating itself worldwide for thousands of years, since the dawn of humanity's attempt at civilization on earth.

History repeating itself is synonymous with what four letter word?

Canadian shoppers turning American products upside down in store to warn off other shoppers - MAGA!

I agree, but don't cross America's redline, or you'll get killed, and unfortunately, we crossed Russia's.
I am not sure what you are trying to say. Russia is not some giant everybody must obey. Not even the USA is. International law applies to every country.

Senators come together in rare show of bipartisanship — and Dems aren't happy

Pennsylvania Sens. Dave McCormick and John Fetterman will host their first joint public event in Pittsburgh this Saturday, but not everyone is pleased with the Democratic senator's bipartisan show of support for his Republican colleagues' new book.

An activist group, Mondays Without McCormick Pittsburgh, is planning a protest with Indivisible Pittsburgh this Saturday, urging both Pennsylvania senators to listen to their concerned constituents and host a town hall.

Meanwhile, Fetterman's 2022 Democratic primary contender, former Rep. Conor Lamb, piled on the accusations against the Democratic senator in an interview with The Philadelphia Inquirer, questioning where Fetterman has been during President Donald Trump's second term.

"And that’s John Fetterman’s job. He should be not only speaking out, he should be listening to people, and instead, it sounds like he’s going to be listening to Dave McCormick and cheering on Dave McCormick’s book signing," Lamb said.

More Parents Vaccinating Kids for Measles

Vaccination rates for kids, may be over-estimated. The actual rate
may be around 71%, which is far too low to create "herd immunity"
among the U.S. population.
