Venezuelan migrant arrested in sanctuary city for 6th time in 13 months days after prosecutors drop charges

Cortez allegedly was riding a bike on April 11 when he approached a 41-year-old woman, brandishing a gun and yelling, "Money! Money!"
Cortez allegedly demanded the woman hand over her cellphone, wallet and electric scooter. Police located and arrested Cortez less than an hour after the alleged robbery. The incident was caught on surveillance footage, CWB Chicago reported.

If you don't prosecute him then he will just be another one of those immigrants who "never committed a crime."
This poor man is being persecuted by Trump.

Trump admin. must return El Salvadoran national Kilmar Abrego Garcia to US, appeals court says

A federal appeals court has rejected the U.S. Justice Department's request to halt a district judge's ruling ordering the Trump administration to facilitate the return of an El Salvadoran deported in error and being held in prison.

On Thursday, a three-judge panel of the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals unanimously ruled that Kilmar Abrego Garcia, who was deported to El Salvador in March due to an administrative error, is "still entitled to due process."

Judge Harvie Wilkinson, a Reagan appointee, authored the panel opinion, concluding that Abrego Garcia was "still entitled to due process" even if he was, as the administration claims, "a terrorist and a member of MS-13."

Safe San Salvador

Our country's president is haphazardly reducing the size of government, returning expenses to the states and desperation to individuals.
incorrect - with reducing the size of the federal government - he is actually increasing the fund the states have from them because the bloated salaries and multimillion dollar offices don't have to come out of the funds anymore. The States will actually be better off - and that is what anti- democracy proponents hate -
Do billionaires need another tax cut so badly that rural Americans have to live in health care deserts as their rural hospitals close?

Journalist discovers the truth about miracles in new film 'Investigating the Supernatural'

For centuries, theologians, scholars and everyday people have debated whether miracles still happen. Are they a glorious outcome from the hand of a living God, or are they a relic of a bygone era rooted in the Old Testament?

As people of faith, we would like to believe that someone's cancerous tumor mysteriously shrinking overnight is a miracle, yet the scientific community quickly pumps the brakes on that notion, pointing instead to obscure, unreliable research to support what cannot be explained.

CBN News investigative journalist Billy Hallowell believes in miracles.

Dem Senator Van Hollen meets, shakes hands with Abrego Garcia; El Salvador says inmate will remain in custody

Sen. Van Hollen: 'I said my main goal of this trip was to meet with Kilmar. Tonight I had that chance'

Sen. Chris Van Hollen, D-Md., who flew to El Salvador this week to meet with deported illegal alien Kilmar Abrego Garcia before being denied multiple times, was granted his request on Thursday night.

“I said my main goal of this trip was to meet with Kilmar," Van Hollen said in a post on X. "Tonight I had that chance. I have called his wife, Jennifer, to pass along his message of love. I look forward to providing a full update upon my return."

The Triune Man

Act 2: 32 This Jesus God has raised up, of which we are all witnesses. 33 Therefore being exalted to the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, He poured out this which you now see and hear.

There are three distinct persons mention in the verses above - God/Father, Son/Jesus, and Holy Spirit.

No Orthodox Christian denies that. However, the idea that each person is one third of God is a grave theological error, the inverse of tritheism. Each person is fully God.

Mar 16: 19 After the Lord had spoken to them, He was received up into heaven, and sat down at the right hand of God.

There are two distinct persons mention in the verse above - Lord/Jesus sitting at the right hand of God/Father in heaven.

Is God, therefore, one person or is He three persons?
When we see God in heaven, will we see one person or will we see three persons?
Will we see the Father and Son in heaven sitting side by side of each other?

We worship one God who abides in three persons, but each person is fully God, and the Holy Trinity is undivided, indivisible and uncompounded.

US begins probes into pharmaceutical and chip imports, setting stage for tariffs

If us health care cannot be reformed then the locality of production is not a minor issue. You simply increase costs for no gain.
Sigh. Yes pointless tariffs on pharmaceuticals would raise consumer prices, but the nature of the drug markets in the US don't have anything to do with tariffs, nor will they be altered by any.
The discussion is about tariffs. The asml machinery is the key to creating high end chips and you are in a tariff war with Holland
Our discussion was about "rare earths". The use of them in ASML's machinery is not a matter of availability of REEs to the US, but to the places where they are made. (And "Holland" isn't a country.)
Not sure how you are filtering this discussion or your searches - you are quite simply wrong and the current explanations suffice.
I'm wrong that I couldn't find something I'd never heard of? Seriously?

The 7 Last Words and the Nicene Creed: ‘Father, Into Your Hands I Commend My Spirit’

The sixth words Christ utters from the cross brings us to the death of the Lord Jesus, crucified for our sake.

Editor’s Note: For more than 20 years, Father Raymond de Souza has preached the “Seven Last Words” devotion, a traditional meditation on the seven times Jesus speaks from the cross on Good Friday. Made famous in recent times by the Venerable Fulton J. Sheen, the meditations are usually organized around a particular theme. For 2025, Father de Souza chose the Nicene Creed as his theme, as the Catholic Church marks this year the 1,700th anniversary of the Council of Nicaea. This first of seven meditations was preached at Holy Cross parish in Kemptville, Ontario, where Father de Souza is the pastor. The first five parts are here, here, here, here and here.

It was now about the sixth hour, and there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour, while the sun’s light failed; and the curtain of the temple was torn in two. Then Jesus, crying with a loud voice, said, ‘Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit!’ And having said this, he breathed his last. Now when the centurion saw what had taken place, he praised God, and said, ‘Certainly this man was innocent!’ And all the multitudes who assembled to see the sight, when they saw what had taken place, returned home beating their breasts” (Luke 23:44-48).

What are the Good Friday Reproaches?

The Good Friday liturgy commemorates the apex of Christ’s passion with a remembrance of his crucifixion and death at Calvary.

The Good Friday Reproaches are a series of antiphons, known also as the “Improperia” or “Popule Meus” (“My People”), coming from the opening lines of the Latin text of the recitation.

Dating back to the ninth century, though not gaining a permanent place in the Roman orders until the 14th century, the Good Friday Reproaches have long been an essential part of the Roman liturgy. But they largely disappeared from many parishes following the liturgical reforms of the Second Vatican Council.

The antiphons have, however, retained their prominence at the Vatican — and are normally chanted by the Sistine Chapel Choir during the Good Friday service in St. Peter’s Basilica.

How do you interpret the 400 years for the revealing of the Messiah in 2 Esdras?

2 Esdras (known as 4 Esdras in the Vulgate) is part of the King James Bible's "Apocrypha" section. Scholars generally agree that an early Jewish Christian wrote it, or major sections of it, and that its original language was Hebrew. You can read it here: Bible Gateway passage: 2 Esdras 7 - New Revised Standard Version
I liked reading this fascinating text, and based on its authorship, I would like to please ask you in the Messianic section about one of the most confusing parts of this document for me: Do the 400 years after the Messiah has been revealed refer to (A) 400 years in the period from the 5th century BC up to Christ's crucifixion, (B) a metaphor for Christ's life or ministry, or (C) a futuristic eschatological End Times period following the End Times tribulation comparable to the 1000 years of Christ's reign after His return in the Book of Revelation?

The passage is in 4 Esdras 7, below. An angel gives Ezra the Lord's prediction about signs and about a city full of all good things that has a narrow entrance. Next, the angel says:

Let me briefly explain each of the three interpretations that I came across.

(Option A: A 400 year period in c. 440 BC - 333 AD.)
According to this theory, Ezra's writings or the prophecies in the TaNaKh revealed the Messiah in about the 5th century BC, and righteous Israelites rejoiced over the next 400 years. In the Latin manuscript of 4 Esdras 7:27, the Messiah is called "Jesus." ("For My Son Jesus shall be revealed with those that be with him"). While the other remaining manuscripts (Syriac, Ethiopian, Armenian) don't have the name "Jesus" here, it's still a possibility. Thus, the document could be presenting itself as "revealing" the Messiah. In history, the real Ezra lived in about 480-440 BC. The document says that the Messiah would die after the 400 years, but it doesn't say how long afterwards. The Crucifixion was in about 33 AD, which is about 472 years after Ezra's time.

Stephen W. Kraner in his essay "Allusions to 2Esdras in the New Testament" showed that 4 Esdras 8:62- 9:6 apparently lines up with major elements of Matthew 24. If the author of the book's middle portion used Matthew 24, he would have been a Christian who intended his reference to the Messiah's death in verse 29 to agree with the New Testament, not to contradict it. Another reason for Option A could be that there are about 400 years in the Intertestamental period between the events of the TaNaKh and those of the Gospels. Further, Daniel 9 gives a similar period of over four centuries that leads to the cutting off of an Anointed One / Messiah.

On the other hand, one of my biggest problems with Option A is that v. 28 says that "my son the Messiah shall be revealed with those who are with him", and it's hard to see how His companions were revealed in the 5th century BC., since the Jews already knew about figures in heaven like Moses, Enoch, Elijah, Ezra and the angels.

What do you think of Option A? I want to ask you more about Options B and C in later posts, but you can respond about them here too.

The author of the text was a Kohen, (Priest), and fully understood both the civil and the sacred calendar days, and understood the meaning of the statement, That your days may be multiplied....as the days of the heavens upon the earth, (Deut 11:21). Moreover he is referring the observant reader to the following statement found in Yeshayah the Prophet:

Isaiah 65:20 KJV
20 There shall be no more thence an infant of days, nor an old man that hath not filled his days: for the child shall die an hundred years old; but the sinner being an hundred years old shall be accursed.

This hundred years old is according to the multiplied days upon the earth, which in turn are derived from the sacred calendar day of seven yamim-hours in a yom day, which is so because Yom is Light: and this is not the light of the sun but the true Light which enlightens every man coming into the world, the Light of the Word of the Most High. Yom is rendered in many different ways in the scripture but unfortunately one of the most important meanings is neither understood by scholars nor rendered as such, which is the hour. There is no word for an hour in Biblical Hebrew, (the Aramaic portions use a word which does not mean the same in Hebrew). However, since Yom is Light, (Gen 1:5a, according to its name given by Elohim Himself in the very beginning), whenever it is used as an increment of time it may be any increment of biblically employed meanings for yom. Rhema spoken (and written) word is not the same as Logos. The Logos is the understanding of the Rhema: one may have the Rhema and yet still not understand lacking Logos. Howbeit the Logos reveals when and where words mean what they mean even though such words like yom are used very broadly. The key is in understanding that there is a foundational precept and in the case with yom it is that the first increment is an hour, not a full day, and all the other increments flow from that and essentially enlarge according to the pattern: the full week of seven days derives from the pattern of the seven yamim hours in the yom of creation, in the yom wherein Elohim made Earth and Heavens.

For example we have the most common usage, a day, which is not 24 hours but 12 hours, (and a night is 12 hours). But from there we also find a day for a year, and a year for a day, as when the spies searched out the land for forty days and brought back an evil report upon the land: the breach resulted in forty years in the wilderness, a year for a day. And when Ychezqel, (Ezekiel the Prophet), was commanded to lay on each side a certain number of days, one side for the house of Yisrael, 390 days, a day for a year, and on his other side 40 days for the house of Yhudah, a day for a year. Then again we have, in 2 Pet 3:8, one day is as a thousand years with the Master, and a thousand years are as one day. Then again we find in Psa 90, a Psalm of Mosheh, that a thousand years are as yesterday when it is past, and as a watch in the night which we know is only a mere three hours.

The point herein above: if a yom may be a day, and a yom may be a year, and a yom may be a thousand years, and a yom may be as a watch in the night which is merely three hours, then surely a yom may be an hour. Thus we have in the opening creation account seven yamim-hours in a yom day: six hours of spoken word creation and the Shabbat hour of every day of the year for as long as the earth and the world endure. And this is the base increment, that is, the hour, and the opening creation account contains the sacred calendar day while BaMidbar-Numbers 7 contains the twelve hour civil calendar day: twelve yom-hours in the yom-day wherein the altar was anointed.

Please bear with me if you are still here at CF, (I see your OP post is old, but the thread was resurrected recently, (which is fine by me)). All of this background is absolutely necessary to at least arrive at a basic understanding of the conclusion I am driving toward. A look at the sacred and civil calendar days may go a long way in helping to visualize the seven hours of the sacred calendar day, since that is really what is most important to understand so that the portion within the civil calendar day is what is being counted: these are the little days or abbreviated days, (Zec 4:10 yom qetanot, Mar 13:20).

Tzadok-Sundial.PNG

So then, counting only the sacred calendar day, which is a week of hours singled out within every twelve hour day, we find that for the abbreviated day the number is fourteen full years of 364 days with 104 full days added in the fourteenth year, which 104 days commence at the close of the 24th of the rishon hodesh, (by the Prophets, Daniel foremost), and those final 104 days run up to the 9th of the fifth month, the day when the temple was destroyed both times. The 24th of the first month is the beginning of the final vision of Daniel the Prophet, and is also the day Yakob wrestled with the Malak at Peniel, and is also the day Sha'ul was stopped in his tracks on the way to Damascus, not far from Damascus.

Counting only the sacred calendar day of seven yamim-hours in a yom day:

14 Years *364 = 5,096 Full Days
7*5,096 Full Days = 35,672 Abbreviated Days
7*104 Full Days = 728 Abbreviated Days
35,672 + 728 = 36,400 Abbreviated Days

36,400/364 = 100 Turnings (Years) in Abbreviated Days
These are the abbreviated days of the one whose days have been multiplied upon the earth.

So then, a na'ar, (child, lad, young one, or young man), as according to Yeshayah 65:20, is 100 years in multiplied days when he reaches the 14th year and 104th day of that year. What therefore would be four hundred years? That would be four cycles of fourteen years: 56 years in the surface level way of counting years.

There is a mountain of evidence behind what I have offered here: this is really more like a mere teaser, for although this post is not really that long, (a least imho), it is packed with as much as I could get into it and needs to be unpacked by those who may be interested.

2 Corinthians 12:1-4
1 Surely it is not profitable for me to boast: but I must come to visions and revelations of the Master.
2 I knew a certain one before fourteen years in Meshiah, whether in the body, I know not, or whether out of the body, I know not, Elohim knows that such a one was caught up to the third heaven.
3 Also I know such a one, whether in the body or out of the body, I know not: Elohim knows (4) that he was caught up into the Paradise, and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to speak.

Paul's name means small or little, that is in the supernal sense, humbled. At the time of writing the above passage Paul was fourteen years in Meshiah, at that point in his walk: fourteen years before writing this text he was on his way to Damascus and received the vision. In the vision, Paul is in Paradise, (like the thief at Golgotha and what the Master says to him in Luke 23:43), and Sha'ul is also there, but Sha'ul is the one in the third heaven rather than Paradise, and he is blaspheming, (for he is the old man nature), and the new man Paul hears the old man Sha'ul speaking words that are not lawful for a man to speak.

After that first vision on the road to Damascus, when the fourteen years he mentions in the above text had been accomplished, he ascends up to Yerushalem, but as he says, according to revelation, (Gal 2:1-2).

Amid surge in deportations, ethicist makes case for protecting undocumented immigrants

No disrespect but I am beginning to wince at words like "many" and "plenty" when we get into these discussions as I find these words paint a picture that I don't see the same way.
And then those descriptors end up being the justification for holding a position when, frankly, those words may be imprecise.
That's why I followed it up with stats/percentages.

When ICE is looking for (and apprehending people) to fulfill removal orders, those are due to people who did have their day in court scheduled, but opted to no-show.

43% of individuals opting to ditch their hearings is not an insignificant number. The fact that only a quarter of those immigration court cases end in an absentia removal order (when it's over 40% that aren't even showing up) would indicate that immigration judges are actually being quite lenient for some folks.

I feel like some media outlets/pundits are portraying this as if random people are getting scooped up with no warning, and no events leading up to it.

1. Identification and Apprehension

  • Encounter: An undocumented individual might be identified by immigration authorities (ICE, CBP, or local law enforcement in cooperation with ICE).
  • Arrest/Detention: ICE may detain the individual or issue a “Notice to Appear” (NTA) if they are not detained.

2. Notice to Appear (NTA)

  • What it is: A legal document that starts the removal process. It lists the government's allegations and charges against the individual.
  • Delivery: The NTA is served to the person and filed with an immigration court.

3. Master Calendar Hearing

  • Initial hearing: This is a preliminary hearing before an immigration judge.
  • What happens:
    • The judge explains the individual’s rights.
    • The person can admit or deny the allegations.
    • They may state their intention to apply for relief (e.g., asylum, cancellation of removal).
    • If they don’t have an attorney, they may ask for time to find one.

4. Application for Relief (if applicable)

  • If eligible, the person can apply for relief to stop deportation (e.g., asylum, adjustment of status, cancellation of removal, etc.).
  • Forms and evidence must be submitted to the court and ICE.

5. Individual Merits Hearing

  • This is a full hearing, like a trial, to determine whether the person should be deported or granted relief.
  • The person and their attorney (if they have one) can:
    • Present evidence.
    • Call witnesses.
    • Cross-examine government witnesses.
  • The judge makes a decision at or after this hearing.

6. Judge’s Decision

  • If the judge orders removal:
    • The person may be deported.
    • They usually have the right to appeal.
  • If relief is granted:
    • The person may be allowed to stay legally, depending on the relief type.

7. Appeal (if applicable)

  • To BIA: The Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA) is the first appellate level.
  • Federal court: After the BIA, a federal circuit court may hear the case.
  • Stays of removal may be requested during the appeal.

8. Final Removal

  • If all appeals are denied or waived, and there's a final order of removal:
    • ICE arranges deportation.
    • The individual may be detained during this time.
    • In some cases, they are released with a monitoring program (e.g., ankle bracelet).

So, there is procedure behind this, portraying it as "they should have their day in court" is implying that they're not getting that opportunity, when in fact, they're actually getting 3-4 separate opportunities in court.

No-showing hearings, driving without a license, domestic disputes, or committing an infraction while released awaiting a hearing are the most common reasons for a "final removal" taking place.

European Commission to wean off Russian oil, gas imports after Trump criticism

I disagree, punch them in the mouth and have them pick up their teeth off the ground. The sad thing is we don't recognize the bully like in a sports game, the referee always calls a foul on the second guy retaliation, not realizing the first guy initiated it first.
Zelenskyy is getting bullied by Trump and putin.

So I like this plan.

West TX Children Treated for Vitamin A Toxicity Along Side Measles

I think he gained support due to how he speaks to the issues food/diet/nutrition.

Based on polling, among people who don't necessarily agree with his views on vaccines... the following aspects resonated with a lot of people.

  • Focus on Chronic Disease: Kennedy's emphasis on addressing chronic health issues, such as obesity and diabetes, resonated with large segments of the population concerned about these widespread problems.
  • Critique of Processed Foods: His critiques of processed foods and calls for better nutrition policies appealed to those advocating for healthier food systems.
  • Distrust in Health Institutions: Some supporters shared a general skepticism toward established health organizations and appreciated Kennedy's calls for increased transparency and reform within agencies like the FDA and CDC.

I'd be in that cohort, I've stated numerous times that I think he's wrong about vaccines. But he does speak to the aforementioned issues in ways that no other high-profile person has that I'm aware of.
Unfortunately, "speaking to the issues" of chronic disease and processed foods is not the same as actually doing anything about them. One of the top NIH nutrition researchers just resigned because of censorship at the NIH, while also citing the negative effects of budget cuts: Leading Nutrition Scientist Departs N.I.H., Citing Censorship.

Pope

Hi. I've not been on CF for very much for a long time, so am not sure the best place to post my question. If this is not the best place, perhaps someone could move it to elsewhere.
Hi tansy. I don't post too much anymore either. And I'm sorry to read of your loss.
Anyway, what I was wondering is that I have read over the years some kind of prophecies which say that this Pope will be the final one. What do people think...also what would happen if he really IS the final one?
I also remember hearing of this over the years, but never was really into it. I really only began researching it since the time of your OP, and since the time of the Pope's illness. It's like being on the edge of our seats.

I'm reading Pope Francis was aware of the St. Malachi prophecy, and had asked during an earlier speech to "pray for me."

I'm also cautious with this as it may not be a Biblical prophecy which comes from God. Jesus also seemed to acknowledge other knowledge which may come from the dark side in Luke 16:8:

"And the lord commended the unjust steward, because he had done wisely: for the children of this world are in their generation wiser than the children of light.

And for other reasons I hesitate to go into now, I think Jesus is coming soon. So I think things are happening now, events not generally recognized for what they are. This might be just another straw in the camel's back.

I do not think our current Pope is the end time Antichrist, or the False Prophet of Revelation. That is a complicated subject for another thread. Our current Pope is not fulfilling the same Biblical role that the office of the Vatican did during the middle ages.

I have a hunch Pope Francis is waiting at the edge of his seat, like we are, to see what's going to happen next.

How foreign countries fighting against tariffs can sink our country

Except they are now burning electric vehicles. They don’t seem to mind the toxins and carcinogens being released into the atmosphere. As long as they are the product of someone they don’t like.

Proof in the pudding is the Democratic Senators who traded his Tesla in for a Chevy Tahoe. A known gas guzzler
And what did that have to do with the post you were replying to? The discussion was about emission standards and what they have to do with imported cars. Almost seems like... You were trying to distract away from the topic...

It's Time to Wake Up

“Do this, knowing the time, that it is already the hour for you to awaken from sleep; for now salvation is nearer to us than when we believed. The night is almost gone, and the day is near. Therefore let us lay aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light. Let us behave properly as in the day, not in carousing and drunkenness, not in sexual promiscuity and sensuality, not in strife and jealousy. But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh in regard to its lusts.” (Romans 13:11-14 NASB1995)

We who believe in Jesus Christ with God-honoring and God-persuaded and God-gifted faith in the Lord Jesus, we still live in flesh bodies. So that is why Jesus and his New Testament apostles taught that we must die with Christ to sin daily, i.e. in practice, and that sin must no longer be our practice, and that righteousness and holy living and walks of obedience to our Lord must be our practice. And it is why the Scriptures teach progressive salvation and sanctification, that we are saved (past), that we are being saved (present), and we will be saved (future) when Jesus returns for his faithful ones.

[Luke 9:23-26; Romans 8:1-24; Romans 13:11; 1 Corinthians 1:18; 1 Corinthians 15:1-2; 2 Timothy 1:8-9; Hebrews 9:28; 1 Peter 1:5,9]

So, that is the meaning behind Paul’s statement here when he said, “for now salvation is nearer to us than when we believed.” For our salvation will not be complete until Jesus Christ returns for his faithful ones who practiced godliness, righteousness, holy living, and walks of surrender and obedience to our Lord, in the power of God, and for whom sin was no longer their practice. For when he takes us to be with him for eternity is when our spiritual marriage to Christ will be consummated and our salvation complete. Until then we keep walking by the Spirit and not by the flesh and its desires.

Now, since we still live in flesh bodies, and we still are tempted to sin, and we still have the propensity to sin against God, and since we still live in a fallen and fleshly world full of people, many of whom do not believe in Jesus Christ, and so we are subject to many other influences, it is possible for us, at some point, to get off track, and to get caught up in the world, and to become spiritually lazy. In nations where Christians are being severely persecuted, this is less likely to be the case. But here in America, where Christianity has largely been compromised, it is very possible to happen.

And so this is a wakeup call! If we have gotten spiritually lazy, and if we have wandered off the path that our Lord has given us to walk on, even in the slightest ways, we need to wake up spiritually and get back to walking with our Lord in daily surrender to his will and purpose for our lives. And we are to be those who are loving God and one another, who are putting sin to death daily, by the Spirit, and who are walking in the ways of the Lord in holy living, and according to God’s will and purpose for our lives. For he did not save us from our sins so that we would continue to live by the flesh.

So, if sin is still what you practice, and if you are living in adultery to your spouse via addiction to any sexual sins, of which there are many varieties, or if stealing, cheating, lying, deceiving, hating, backbiting, drunkenness, carousing, sexual promiscuity, and any other sins are what you practice (deliberately and habitually), these all must be put to death, and they must no longer be your practice. You must wake up from your spiritual slumber and turn to or return to walking with the Lord Jesus in surrender and in obedience to his commands, in holy living, and no longer in sin, by his grace.

So, we are to put off (lay aside) the deeds of darkness (sin, wickedness, disobedience), and we are to put on the armor of light (Jesus Christ, truth, righteousness, holy living, and the gospel of our salvation). And what this means is this denial of self, dying daily to sin, by the Spirit, and walking in obedience to our Lord and to his commands in daily practice, in the power of God, which is what Jesus taught, and which his New Testament apostles taught as the gospel message. For by faith in Jesus we die with Christ to sin so that we might live to God and to his righteousness, in his power.

But let me add this on. What I have just shared with you is what the Scriptures teach, in context, with regard to our salvation and eternal life with God. Yes, we are not saved by our own fleshly “good works” of our own doing. But we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works which God planned for us in advance that we should walk in them. And in the end, we are all going to be judged according to our works. And if sin is what we practiced, and not godliness, and not walks of obedience to our Lord, we will die in our sins unless at the last minute we genuinely repent.

As the Deer

By Martin J. Nystrom
Based off Psalm 42:1

As the deer panteth for the water
So my soul longeth after You
You alone are my heart's desire
And I long to worship You

You alone are my strength, my shield
To You alone may my spirit yield
You alone are my heart's desire
And I long to worship You

Living in the Holy Land

Jeremiah 8:10 I will give the Land to new owners:

Zephaniah 3:1-8
Woe to the place of oppression, filthy and defiled, they heed no warning voice and ignore God’s rebukes. They won’t take correction or place their trust in their Creator. Their leaders have no concern for the people and prophet and priest alike profane the Holy Scriptures.
The people who ‘won’t take correction and trust their Creator’, is the Jewish State of Israel.

The Lord has judged and punished them before, their land laid waste and the towns deserted and He thought: surely now they will fear Me and will accept instruction, but they continue on in their evil deeds and they show no shame for it.
Judah has been punished and exiled before; by Babylon and by Rome. But as Ezekiel 21:14 tells us, there will be a third time.

Therefore: look out for Me, for the Day when I will stand up to witness against you, on the Day that I execute justice upon the nations, for I will pour out My fierce anger and the whole earth will be enveloped by the fire of My wrath.
This will be the great and terrible Day of the Lord’s vengeance and fiery wrath against the nations. Prophesied in the Bible over 100 times. Habakkuk 3:12 2 Peter 3:7, Revelation 6:12-17, +

Zephaniah 3:11-13 On that Day, Jerusalem, I shall wipe away your shame for all the transgressions committed in you, for I shall remove all your proud and arrogant citizens, only the humble and peaceful people will remain and those who never practise evil or speak lies, they will settle in the Land and nothing will disturb them.
This is the great Second Exodus of all of God’s people into all of the holy Land. Every faithful Christian: a vast multitude from every tribe, race, nation and language. Isaiah 66:18-21, Ezekiel 34:11-31, Romans 9:24=26, Revelation 7:9 and the amazing stories in Psalms 107

Zephaniah 3:9-10 They will all know a pure language, so everyone will know the true Name of the Lord and will praise Him with one accord. My worshippers, all the righteous people will come from afar to worship the Lord and bring offerings to Him. People from every race, nation and language, all the born again Christian people, will travel there to live, in the new nation of Beulah, Isaiah 62:1-5, while the rest of the world is ruled by a One World Government. Daniel 7:23, Revelation 17:12

Zephaniah 3:14-17 Daughter of Jerusalem; sing for joy! For the Lord has taken away your punishments and has cast out your enemies. Now the Lord is with you and you need never again fear disaster.
On the Day of the Lord’s wrath; This is the message for My people: Fear not, stand firm in your faith, your God will keep you safe and will rejoice over you.

Ref: REB, CJB, KJV. Some verses condensed and paraphrased.

This chapter of Zephaniah encapsulates the soon to happen end times story.

It tells how Jerusalem, the holy Land is desecrated by its ungodly inhabitants and will rejoice when they are gone.
How those enemies of the Lord, the evil neighbors, Jeremiah 12:14, and all who reject the Salvation of Jesus, will be uprooted and gone, then the holy Land resettled by the Lord’s faithful believers. Ezekiel 34:11-31 tells it plainly.

Jeremiah 7:30-34 & 8:1-13 The people of Judah have done wrong, they worship idols and have no regard for their Creator....Therefore, the time is coming when I shall fill the valley of Topeth with their corpses.......All the survivors of this wicked race, from wherever I have banished them, would rather die than live. Isaiah 22:14
...Judah is incurable in their waywardness......I listen, but I hear not one word of remorse ....My people do not know the Judgements of the Lord. How can you say: We are wise and we have the Law of God, when your scribes and priests have falsified it? The wise are shamed and where is wisdom in them?
Therefore I will give their wives to others and give their land to new owners, for all of their prophets and priests are frauds....on My Day of reckoning, they will fall with a great crash. I shall surely consume them says the Lord and there will be no grapes on the vine
, [Israel] and no figs on the fig tree. [Judah]

We Christians are told by Paul in 1 Thessalonians 5:4-5, that we should know God’s plans for what will happen in the near future. Zephaniah 3 gives it to us, confirmed by the sequence of Revelation chapters 6-7.

What is presented to you in these scriptures, is God’s Promises to His faithful people, His blessings of peace and prosperity, of joy and happiness, of security and long life, as all who love Him and keep the Commandments; will live in His Land.

It is the prophetic parallel of ancient Israel, where Jesus led the people through the desert and how most of them refused to accept the Promise. 1 Corinthians 10:6-13
Ezekiel 20:34-38 tells how, once again, some of His people will revolt and rebel and they will not be allowed to enter the Land of Israel.

In today’s situation, we have many who have accepted the Gospel, but who have chosen their own beliefs about what God intends to do for His people and during this forthcoming test, 1 Peter 4:12, they may fail to stand firm in their trust that the Lord will protect them. This won’t lose their salvation, but it will be a serious disadvantage, 1 Corinthians 3:13-15

The great chapter of Isaiah 35:1-10, is one of the many prophesies that describe the Lord’s faithful Christian people entering the holy Land, says: ...no one unclean will go there....The Lord’s people, set free: will enter Zion with shouts of triumph.

Psalms 107 describes how the Lord will help His people to travel to the holy Land.
