Raised in a conservative Jewish household in New York, David Moss had his bar mitzvah at age 13. In his heart, though, he had lost his faith in Judaism.

What followed was a 23-year period of searching for religious truth and life’s meaning, culminating in a dramatic mystical conversion experience that led Moss to embrace the Catholic faith in 1979.

Despite being a happy and committed Catholic today, Moss, 83, has not left his Jewish identity and heritage behind. He is the longtime president of the Association of Hebrew Catholics (AHC), a St. Louis-based group that seeks to provide a welcoming place for Jewish converts to Catholicism and encourage them to preserve their Jewish identity.

When he entered the Church in the 1970s, “I still had a ton to learn. I knew very little … especially how [Catholicism] connected to my Jewish origins. The going narrative was that my Judaism was finished, over,” Moss told CNA.

What happens once again when one doesn't read the entire article.

The Lord’s agony in the garden of Gethsemane has been depicted countless times by Christian artists over the centuries. The historical narrative in the Gospels is clear enough, yet it opens up mystery upon mystery, receding into infinity — and endlessly fascinating to the artistic imagination. While every well-executed painting of a scene from the life of Christ is worth gazing at and pondering, I like to keep my eyes peeled for unusual treatments of common themes, and so today, at the start of Holy Week, I will share and briefly comment on four depictions of the agony. But first, the synoptic accounts of it (there is no mention of this event in John’s Gospel, as he tends to focus on things that the earlier three do not mention).

I suffered from OCD from my youth from my beginnings as a by choice Christian. It creates words and dreams or mental pictures of blasphemy... it crippled my feelings of salvation and I often went to church to see if God would save me and forgive me again and frequently maybe 200 times came insights into my secret thoughts and promises and words of hope for salvation week after week, year after year and in this came a relaxation. Stress, tension, lack of knowledge pushed OCD to produce more blasphemy, relaxation and I am relieved of much of the imagery...

As Christians we should look toward the image of the crucifixion as the most perfect example of the sacrificial love from which to learn. It is, as St. Maximillian Kolbe says, “the school of love.”

But this example of true, self-gift extends beyond Christ on the cross, and looks out toward his most Blessed Mother standing at his feet as he takes his final breaths. To me, this image exemplifies a beautiful and necessary facet of human love.

Mary did not let her son suffer alone; instead, she stood close enough to him during his final moments that his most precious blood probably showered down upon her. However, Mary did not stand as a mere observer of her son’s passion. Rather, because of her deep love for Jesus, Mary became a partaker in his passion. She allowed his sorrow to pierce her heart.

When you willingly choose to share in someone else’s cross, sympathy grows into empathy, and your capacity for intimacy with another deepens.

Growing up, my mom insisted on saying the Rosary every day, and my favorite set of mysteries to pray and reflect on was always the Sorrowful Mysteries. Perhaps it seems odd for a child to find comfort in sorrow, but there was something about these mysteries that made me feel closer to Jesus. I saw Christ as a friend and couldn’t help but wonder why people were hurting him.

I continued to pray the Rosary and attend Mass as I got older, but it became more of a habit. Like so many cradle Catholics, I lost the childlike curiosity that I once had in my friend Jesus.

It wasn’t until I became involved in campus ministry at the University of South Carolina that I began to rediscover that childlike faith, piece by piece. To feed the growing hunger in my heart for Jesus, I sought out Eucharistic adoration and devoured resources that could help me reconnect with him, from Scripture to the accounts of the saints and even films such as “The Passion of the Christ.”

Still, something felt missing. No matter how much I attempted to immerse myself in Christ’s suffering, I felt as if I needed more — more detail, more intimacy. In moments of deep suffering and vulnerability, we often seek out and feel closest to our friends. Why should that be any different with Jesus?

It wasn’t until Holy Week of my junior year that I finally experienced the intimacy I sought. The chapel at St. Thomas More was hosting 40-hour perpetual adoration, and at 3 a.m., I found myself alone in the quiet and darkness of the chapel, gazing at the Eucharist and trying to imagine what Jesus had endured in his Agony of the Garden.

Hi, I've written about this sort of thing before. However, for me it bears repeating. On the one hand, I think my life would be more miserable if I had not been confirmed. On the other hand, I had a feeling in the pit of my gut that trying to actually live out the faith would become a burden because of my dad. It's one of those nights where my dad's behavior (i.e. sleep) and emotional patterns are erratic and may ruin my ability to attend Mass. The sin of presumption is rearing its ugly head and saying "You can confess it next week." My misery is compounded by the fact that it would have been nice to go to Mass on the first Sunday of Lent. Trying to just fulfill the basic duties of being a Catholic does not mix with my situation, and I will always wonder if I should have bothered getting confirmed. I knew in my heart that it might not be possible to actually obey the faith the way it's supposed to be obeyed.

Yes, just today Malaysia and China signed a new agreement. Malaysia is where some of the chip manufacturing is going, but they could easily just be a client state of China. The apostle Paul wrote a letter to the church of God which was at Corinth, “to those who have been sanctified in Christ Jesus, saints by calling, with all who in every place call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, their Lord.” (1 Corinthians 1:2) And to be sanctified is to be made holy, and a saint is one who is holy, and to be holy is to be different from the world because we are being conformed by God to the likeness of character of Jesus Christ. And, as obedient children, we are called of God to be holy in all our conduct, and to no longer be conformed to the lusts of the sinful flesh (1 Peter 1:14-16).

And in this letter he exhorted them that they all agree and that there be no divisions among them, and that they have the same mind and the same judgment. For some of them were showing favoritism to particular preachers and teachers of the Word, quarreling among themselves as to which one was greater than the other. Today this would be kind of like saying, “I am a Baptist,” or “I am a Presbyterian,” or “I am Pentecostal,” or “I am Lutheran,” etc. We are not supposed to separate ourselves, one from the other, but we are supposed to be all one church, one body, by faith in Jesus Christ.


Paul’s point here is that our faith is not to rest in the wisdom of men or in who men are or in what they have accomplished. We are not to be followers of man, but of God. We are not to claim that we were baptized Lutheran or Episcopalian or Baptist, etc., but that we are followers of Jesus Christ. And water baptism, by itself, does not make anyone a Christian. And we can become Christians separate from water baptism. For what did Paul say? Christ did not send him to baptize, but to preach the gospel message. And he preached death to sin and walks of obedience to God as believing faith.

So, we need to not get all caught up in church denominations or in religious formalities or in things outward which may or may not have any impact on our walks of faith. But we are to focus on Jesus Christ and on what it means to believe in him and to be his followers and then follow Jesus with our lives, going where he sends us, and doing as he commands. For he said if we are to come after him we must deny self, take up our cross daily (die daily to sin) and follow (obey) him. For if sin is what we obey, and not obedience to God, it will result in death, not in eternal life with God in his kingdom.

And the word of the cross, that is taught in the Scriptures, in context, is foolishness to those who are perishing. And that is because it teaches us that, by faith in Jesus Christ, which comes from God, and which is not of our own doing, we must die with Christ to sin, and we must now walk with him in obedience to his commands, or we don’t know him, we are not in fellowship with him, and we don’t have eternal life in him. For faith, which comes from God, and which is persuaded of God, which is not of ourselves, will result in us dying with Christ to sin and us obeying his commands.

For to believe in Jesus means to be persuaded of God. And God persuades us as to his righteousness and holiness, and of our sinfulness, and of our need to die with Christ to sin, not just once, but in daily practice, and to walk (in conduct, in practice) in obedience to his commands. And all throughout the New Testament Scriptures, taught IN CONTEXT, we will see this taught over again. For we are taught that if sin is what we practice, and not obedience to God, that we do not know God, we are not of God, and we will not have eternal life with God. And we need to take this to heart.

I deeply respect the Jewish people and believe we should always stand against anti-Semitism and for their protection and dignity. That said, I think many Evangelicals have blurred the lines between political support for Israel and spiritual partnership in ways that can be dangerous.

The reality is that Jewish people, just like anyone else, need the Gospel. Without faith in Jesus Christ, no one is saved (John 14:6). When we create spiritual alliances or joint religious events that avoid proclaiming the Gospel to the Jewish people, we unintentionally reinforce the false idea that they already have a saving relationship with God apart from Christ.

To put it into perspective, would most Evangelicals be comfortable forming spiritual alliances with Muslims or Buddhists without sharing the Gospel with them? Probably not. And yet, when it comes to modern Judaism, many seem hesitant to proclaim Christ as the only way to salvation. We can’t make exceptions based on history or sentiment. All people need Jesus. Love that doesn't point to Him isn’t love at all, it’s silence that can cost someone eternity.

What concerns me even more is when this silence is paired with voices from the prosperity gospel movement, which often distorts the message of Christ into something self-serving and worldly. In my view, these kinds of alliances are not helping Israel spiritually, nor are they preparing anyone well for the days ahead.

We need to love Israel the way Christ does, by praying for their peace and well-being, yes, but also by faithfully sharing the truth that Jesus is their Messiah. Anything less falls short of true Christian love.

The point of blasphemy of the Holy Spirt is it results in denying Christ is the Messiah. Which means you can't believe in Jesus for forgiveness. Which therefore makes it an unforgivable sin, because it cuts off the only way to forgiveness.

Yes, but the vision runs from Dan. 10 to Daniel 12:2 and everything else is interpretations and/or limited answers. Of Course the Man in Linen is a Pre Incarnate Jesus, as was the man speaking to Abraham in Gen. 18 and 19, he prayed and Abraham said the "Lord" prayed to the LORD in Heaven, and He reined down destruction on Sodom. He swears by the God of heaven, and hovers above the waters, the Angels on each side are called angels. Jesus was crucified before the foundations of the earth.

It s Jesus pre incarnate, as was I am that I am. The Covenant that is confirmed (gabar basically means by strong armed tactics) is simply this, Israel joins the E.U. anything else is just people not in the know guessing and acting like they know something that just is not there. HINT: Jesus, God and the Angels would never act like the AoD happened because the temple got defiled by WHATEVER, but that is not possible........you see, the temple has to be cleansed before it can be defiled !!

Israel repents at the 1335, which is 45 days before the 1290 events, they start worshiping Jesus in the temple before the 1290 AoD arrives. Then an Orthodox Jewish Rabbi High Priest (False Prophet), who gets very angry at the sight of Jews praising Jesus for 45 days, from the 1335 to the 1290, so he puts out an edict that forbids Jesus worship and he then places an Image of the E.U. president up in the temple, and Israel remember is an E.U. member state at that point in time. Thus this AoD sign from God gives the Jews who repented 30 days to flee Judea before the AC goes firth conquering to become THE BEAST of Rev. 13, and the Little Horn of Dan. 7, 8, and 11:36-45.

(In regards to Dan. 7 & 8's Little Horns being the same person) God gives us ways to cross reference prophesies that most of us miss. Like Jesus being born in Bethlehem, being a Nazarite, and as God says "my son will come out of Egypt" so, that might be confusing if we can not put it altogether before it happens, but after it happens it all makes sense. Well, my calling is Prophesy, I have a gift of seeing theses things as blessed by God.

So, God gives us an end time king who is of at least Three of these former Beasts. He has to have Old Assyrian blood, as Isaiah 10 says he's called an Assyrian (not Syria, but Assyria, which was mostly Northern Iraq and Southern Turkey). So, his bloodline must un back to the Old Assyrian Beast. Then in Dan. 7:7-8 we are told that 10 Horns (Completion = 10, so 10 Horns of Powers represent COMPLETE Europe reunited or the E.U. with 8, nations, then 12, then 18 and now 27, thus the number 10 means the Complete E.U. Reunited, not 10. Thus he arises AMIDST the 10 (E.U.) so the Little Horn is born in the E.U., that thus fulfills Dan. 7:7-8, if we can see this man is born in the E.U. well, Dan. 8 CONFIRMS what Nation he has to be born in, if we understand Prophesy. God gives us Alexander the Great and then a SIMPLE Four Way General battle, think the Four Winds or Directions on a map, God made it simple, we miss it looking for complexities. Thus in Daniel 8:9 we see that this Little Horn/AC has to wax great (conquer) TOWARDS the South (Egypt/Ptolemy) and TOWARDS the East (Turkey/Seleucus) and TOWARDS Israel. That means this Little Horn/AC must conquer from the Northwest Corridor or Cassander/Greece.

So, this man has to be born in Greece, and Greece is in the E.U. and bloodlines travel, and of course Turkey and Greece have a common border where over the last 2500 years at some point in time this man's Assyrian Bloodline Family migrated to Greece. He was thus born in Greece and is therefore eligible to become the E.U. President. You see, after it happens it will be much easier to see, but God always shows those who seek earnestly. He showed the Three Wisemen that baby Jesus the Messiah was born. And he showed an old righteous man that Jesus was his Messiah.
