Elephants Are the First Non-Human Animals Now Known to Use Names, AI Research Shows

In a study as amazing as it is probably unsurprising, a team of biologists and researchers using machine learning tools discovered that elephants call each other by names.

For an animal that is known to perform deeply social acts like grieving, raising children collectively, and communicating across miles of countryside using complex low-frequency vocalizations, the use of names seems to be natural for their societies, but being able to know an elephant’s name in ‘Elephantese’ offers the potential to dramatically reduce human-elephant conflict.

The study was conducted at Colorado State University and was organized around simple observations that the matriarch of an elephant herd the researchers were following in Kenya would use a call that brought all the elephants together around her.

Take your shoes off your feet as a sign of respect

At the burning bush, God said to Moses in Exodus 3:

5b “Do not come near; take your sandals off your feet, for the place on which you are standing is holy ground.”
Ellicott's Commentary for English Readers:

Egyptians before the time of Moses, and Orientals generally, in ancient (as in modern) times, removed their sandals (or their shoes) from their feet on entering any place to which respect was due, as a temple, a palace, and even the private house of a great man.
I worked and lived in Japan for a decade. Inside my apartment at the door, we provided indoor sandals for visitors. My friends would remove their street shoes and slip on the clean sandals at that spot. After that, they took a step up and walked on the wood floor of our apartment.

Cambridge Bible for Schools and Colleges:

The removal of the sandals is still the usual mark of reverence, upon entering a mosque, or other holy place, in the East.
I worked and lived in Saudi Arabia for four years. When I visited a mosque with my Muslim friends, we removed our street shoes and socks and walked on the carpeted floor barefoot.

Physically speaking, removing shoes helps maintain cleanliness within the mosque, as shoes can bring dirt or impurities from the streets.

Spiritually, we left behind the impurities and distractions of the outside world before entering the mosque for prayer or worship.

I worked in the Philippines for two years. I attended some Catholic Sunday masses. Some took place in open spaces with a roof and seats under it. There was no wall, no need to remove shoes at all. While sitting inside, I could see birds flying outside and hear their chirping. There was no difference between the dirt content inside the place of worship or outside. Sometimes, it was so crowded that some worshippers had to stand outside the perimeter of the roof.

I enjoyed all these different settings of worship :)

Prayers TO the dead

In the Old Testament the prophet Elisha prayed for the life of the son of a Shunnamite woman who had died. Elisha proceeded to resuscitate the son but still the prayer for the life of a departed person took place. While the cultic account of Saul & the Witch of Endor is a warning against seance like stuff, it seems right to pray for the departed within the bounds of the Lord’s commandments ( Matthew 22:36-40 etc.).

The account of Elisha

Judas betrayed Jesus for the price of a slave

The verse distinguished between the owner and the master. I prefer to stick closely to the wording of the Scripture.
I respect this. Thank you for entertaining the discussion on any level. It helped me think about it on a deeper level.

COVID Select Subcommittee Releases Dr. Fauci’s Transcript, Highlights Key Takeaways in New Memo

While rules like "6 foot social distancing" and "restaurants can operate 20% capacity with tables a minimum of 10 feet apart" were pretty much arbitrary numbers and likely not based on any specific dataset, the underlying premise of "keeping your distance from someone who may be sick" was still an age-old valid premise, and I suspect they were wanting to put "hard numbers" on that was a means of making people conscience of keeping their distance from people who could be sick.

As another example. Handwashing with soap and warm water as a means of reducing the spread of certain pathogens is/was certainly a valid well-accepted premise, however tossing in somewhat arbitrary things like "it has to be for the duration of the happy birthday song" were an arbitrary modification on that.
I think some aspects of making recommendations as to what the general populace “can do”, is partly just so much “busy work”…people tend to want to “do their part” and if there isn’t guidance as to what that might entail they’ll get frustrated with the people who are supposed to recommend “things to do, to do your part”.

For health officials it’s a no-win situation, telling the people to mask and maintain a certain distance can get reactions as we all witnessed and not telling us to do anything seems like they’re ignoring us.

a look at 1john

I must correct a wrong statement in post at number 5.

I need to clarify on my testimony about walking in the Spirit. First sanctification will be more than a 10-year struggle. Sanctification is a lifetime process. What I meant to say was: I hope that you do not have to wait 10 years to get proof of through the Spirit putting to death a sin of the flesh proving that you are walking in the Spirit. God wants us to know that we are saved.

My problem was I had not submitted to the Spirit. To do this we have to admit that our salvation is entirely the work of God. As I stated, I was working for my salvation trying to prove that I had really repented. When we believe in Jesus, we are repenting of the only sin needed to be repented of, which is not believing God.

John 3:31 He who comes from above is above all; he who is of the earth is earthly and speaks of the earth. He who comes from heaven is above all. 32 And what He has seen and heard, that He testifies; and no one receives His testimony. 33 He who has received His testimony has certified that God is true. NKJV

When we believe in Jesus, we are repenting of the only sin needed to be repented of, which is not believing God.

Acts 20:21 testifying to Jews, and also to Greeks, repentance toward God and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ. NKJV

You have repented toward God certifying to His truthfulness. If you believe in Jesus, the Son of God, and that He has done all the work necessary for you to be saved then you placed your faith in Jesus. That was my mistake I did not put my faith in Jesus alone. I thought I had to prove that I had repented before I could be saved by Him. So, I was working for 10 years to prove to Him I was worthy to be saved. If I had not cried out in desperation I might have continued working for salvation and lost it.

Please do not misunderstand, when I say repentance is not necessary for one to be saved. If you are aware of your sins, repentance is called for as long as you understand that you are doing so to please Him, not for salvation. However, faith in Jesus is a must have. If we have placed our faith in Him, we will submit to His convictions in one of two ways. We will start walking in the Spirit or we will let Jesus put us to death. Both ways are putting to death the sins of the flesh. The second way is the fastest for sanctification but the least beneficial way for Jesus and for our eternity.

The way I came to Jesus is different than most. I had as a boy of 8 or 9 walked the aisle and received baptism. Needless to say, I had no idea what it was all about. I went to church with my parents but as soon as I was on my own, I went the way of the world. In my mid-forties I started my spiritual search. I began reading the bible while attending AA meetings. I believe it was during this time that I was saved as I was convicted to tithe which I did by giving to Christian charities. I was also convicted to start attending church. I walked the aisle again and was baptized. Then began the false teaching. I learned that I needed to repent of my sins to be saved. I continued to read His word, but I believed the experts, preachers and teachers. During this time, I was selected to be a deacon. To be ordained as a beacon I had to state my support for the church's doctrines, one of which was repentance of sins in addition to believing in Jesus for salvation.

After I cried out to God, He began to teach me from His word again. When his word diverged from what I was taught I prayed for guidance and continued reading in the hopes that other scriptures would correct my wrong understanding. My continued reading only revealed more support for what I believed and further divergence from the Church's doctrine. I finally submitted to what His word taught me. I changed denominations sought a church that agreed with my beliefs. I have not found any.

I have found a few individuals that believe as I do. I have recently found a preacher, in a homeless shelter, and we seem to agree in important doctrine. Maybe that will be my new church.

I hope I have stated this correctly.

God bless to all on your spiritual journey.

....I don’t know about the levels of hell, though. It sounds like medieval theology.
I think there are bound to be some levels of hell, or at least differing degrees of punishment. I don't see why a petty thief should be punished in the same way as Adolf Hitler or Josef Stalin, who were responsible for the deaths of millions.

5. She was shown different levels of hell.

According to Paul Kengor, a professor of political science at Grove City College and a National Catholic Register contributor, Faustina “observed Dante-like sections of hell reserved for specific agonies earned in this fallen world.”

“There are caverns and pits of torture where one form of agony differs from another,” Faustina recorded in her diary. ”There are special tortures destined for particular souls. These are the torments of the senses. Each soul undergoes terrible and indescribable sufferings related to the manner in which it has sinned.”

Not of ourselves

“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,” (Eph 2:8 NKJV)
Why do we receive grace?
In Ephesians 2:8 the word "for" is Key in that text and the surrounding passage. Notice the context. Turn to chapter 2 in Ephesians. It says, "Even when we were dead in our sins have He quicken us together with Christ." This is the saving that 2:8 speaks. This is our salvation. We are saved, setting together in heavenly places in Christ. For this is the grace, the Gift from God. For we are His workmanship created in Christ Jesus for good works WHICH God had preordained THAT we should walk in that which is of God. Being quickened together with Christ sitting together in heavenly places in Christ we are Therefore, One Body and Spirit. And there is One hope of this calling of us. In that there is One God and Father of all who is above all and in us all chapter 4 states. For it is He that works in us both to will and do His good pleasure. Giving of Himself, giving gifts unto men. And this hopeful calling is For the perfecting of us, the saints. Unto the measure and stature and the fullness of Christ.
Henceforth not tossed to fro by every wind of doctrine and sleight of man. Being Taught by HIM and thereby Putting off the behavior of the old man which is corrupt due to deceitful lust and putting on the new which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. The good works that God had preordained that we should walk in. For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.
Be not ye therefore partakers with them chapter 5 says.
I love Ephesians 2! In it God show us that even the faith with which we believe is a gift from Him, and nothing we can pat ourselves on the back for. Praise His wonderful name!

Rest for the Weary

This song is about our eternal rest, i.e. this is about our salvation, and how it brings us into God’s eternal kingdom where we find our hope for eternal life with God. And yet, it also speaks to our need for physical, mental and emotional rest.

Jesus gives us rest when we need it. He fills us with his peace and joy, he encourages and comforts our hearts and minds, and he reminds us of his many promises and of his grace and mercy to us. He encourages us to praise him and to give him thanks, to trust in his love, and to not give way to fear and to worry. He urges us to walk with him in obedience and surrender to his will and to find our refuge in him, instead of us looking to the things of this world to satisfy us.

Jesus speaking: “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” ~ Matthew 11:28-30

Rest for the Weary

An Original Work / April 23, 2011
Based off of Matthew 11:28-30

Rest for the weary;
peace for the soul.
Light in the darkness;
mercy untold.
Perfect salvation;
pardoned and free,
For Jesus died
so that all may believe.

While we are waiting
for Your return,
Jesus, Redeemer,
let our hearts yearn
For your soon coming
to get Your bride,
Washed in Your blood,
having been sanctified.

Father, Son, Spirit,
all three in One
Giveth salvation
through redemption.
Jesus provided
the sacrifice
For our sins blood bought,
for He paid the price.

I hate waiting for him to die

"My child, take care of your father in his old age, do not cause him sorrow as long as he lives.
Even if he has lost his mind, have patience; do not be disrespectful to him while you are in full health. For kindness done to one's father will never be forgotten, it will serve as reparation for your sins." Sirach 3: 12-14

God wants you to love your father, even if your father is severely trying you but iirc, your dad isn't doing this out of spite or hatred so that makes this situation a lot more bearable.

I think the solution to your troubles with your dad might be silence. When Jesus was accused and mocked he stayed silent. When your dad starts another attempt to convert you, stay silent. Try not to argue or defend yourself or get drawn into another argument that will only lead to the same conclusion- just be silent. This is not the ignoring or vindictive silence used as a punishment. Follow the example of Jesus and be silent.
It really hurts me knowing that if I had read the entire Bible (that is just so hard to do, sorry :( ), I might have known about this passage by now.

What Every Christian Should Know about Self-Defense

Lay your weapons down.
It is not about weapons, it is about fear. We are told that perfect love casts out all fear. Criminals are like dogs, they smell out fear. If you are not afraid then they can not control you. You just send them on their way to find someone easier to control and manipulate.

The Heavens Declare the Glory of God

“The heavens declare the glory of God,
and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.
Day to day pours out speech,
and night to night reveals knowledge.
There is no speech, nor are there words,
whose voice is not heard.
Their voice goes out through all the earth,
and their words to the end of the world.
In them he has set a tent for the sun,
which comes out like a bridegroom leaving his chamber,
and, like a strong man, runs its course with joy.
Its rising is from the end of the heavens,
and its circuit to the end of them,
and there is nothing hidden from its heat.” (Psalms 19:1-6 ESV)

My husband and I enjoy watching nature videos, and every time that I watch one of these nature videos, I am utterly amazed at God’s handiwork in how he created such a vast array of creatures on this earth and how intricately he designed each and every one of them with regard to physical appearance and personalities and habits and nature, and with regard to how they interact with the other creatures on the earth, too.

Now, many of these videos are not created by God-fearing humans, and so they give the credit to something called “mother nature,” as though nature created itself, which is impossible. But through God’s creation he reveals himself to all of humanity so that we are without excuse if we choose to reject God and to go our own way, instead. For God’s invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made.

[Romans 1:18-23; cf. John 1:1-3; Genesis 1:1-31; Genesis 2:1-25]

And when I go for walks or we go for a drive, I love to look at all that God created, from the creatures on the ground, to those in the air, and to the trees standing tall with full leaves on them now, to the grass on the ground and the flowers which are blooming, etc. And I love looking at the clouds in the sky and how they form different shapes, and I love sunrises and sunsets and seeing a full moon on a dark night. And I see God in all of his created works, and I am amazed, and I worship God, but not his created works.

But there are people on this earth, some of them professing Christians, who serve and who worship God’s created works instead of worshiping and serving God who created all of us. And the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against those who, in all their ungodliness and unrighteousness, suppress the truth that can be known about God as seen through his created works. And they do not honor God as God, but they exchange the glory of God for the idols of this world which they create in their own minds.

And so God gives them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, because they exchange the truth about God for a lie and they worship and serve the created rather than the creator. And so they engage themselves in all sorts of evil practices, including sexual immorality, homosexuality, malice, murder, deceit, gossip, slander, disobedience, foolishness, faithlessness and heartlessness. And, though they know God's righteous decree that those who practice such things deserve to die, they not only do them, but they give approval to those who practice them (see Romans 1:18-32).

But Jesus said that if anyone would come after him, he must deny self, take up his cross daily (die daily to sin) and follow (obey) him. For if we hold on to our lives of living in sin and for self, we will lose them for eternity. But if for the sake of Jesus we deny self, die daily to sin, and follow our Lord in obedience to his commands, we will gain eternal life with God. For it is not those who give lip service to the Lord who have eternal life, but it is those who are doing (obeying) the will of God (Luke 9:23-26; Matthew 7:21-23).

[Matt 7:21-23; Lu 9:23-26; John 1:12-13; John 6:44; John 10:27-30; Acts 26:18; Rom 2:6-8; Rom 6:1-23; Rom 8:1-14; Rom 12:1-2; 1 Co 6:9-10,19-20; 1 Co 10:1-22; 2 Co 5:10,15,21; Gal 5:16-24; Gal 6:7-8; Eph 2:8-10; Eph 4:17-32; Eph 5:3-6; Col 1:21-23; Col 3:1-17; Titus 2:11-14; 1 Jn 1:5-10; 1 Jn 2:3-6,24-25; 1 Jn 3:4-10; 1 Peter 1:15; 1 Pet 2:24; Heb 3:1-19; Heb 4:1-13; Heb 10:23-31; Heb 12:1-2; Rev 21:8,27; Rev 22:14-15]

For Our Nation

An Original Work / September 11, 2012

Bombs are bursting. Night is falling.
Jesus Christ is gently calling
You to follow Him in all ways.
Trust Him with your life today.
Make Him your Lord and your Savior.
Turn from your sin. Follow Jesus.
He will forgive you of your sin;
Cleanse your heart, made new within.

Men betraying: Our trust fraying.
On our knees to God we’re praying,
Seeking God to give us answers
That are only found in Him.
God is sovereign over all things.
Nothing from His mind escaping.
He has all things under His command,
And will work all for good.

Jesus Christ is gently calling
You to follow Him in all ways.

Men deceiving: We’re believing
In our Lord, and interceding
For our nation and its people
To obey their God today.
He is our hope for our future.
For our wounds He offers suture.
He is all we need for this life.
Trust Him with your life today.

"Rapture" Is the Second Coming in New Testament. Thessalonians.

REASON #1: The Church Is Not Appointed to Wrath

Rom 5:9
Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him
1Th 5:9 For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,
Tribulation is not the same as wrath.

REASON #2: The Church Will Be Kept From the Hour of Trial

Rev 3:10
Because you have kept My command to persevere, I also will keep you from the hour of trial which shall come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth.
As someone else mentioned-the word "keep" in the Greek means to guard over. This is the very same Greek word Christ used when praying to the Father and asking him to "keep them from evil but not removed from the earth.

REASON #3: God’s Dealings With The Jewish Nation

The seven year Tribulation is specifically a time for God to work with the Jews.
Traditions of men.

And remember only 2 tribes that are sealed are likely what we consider Jewish -Judah/Benjamin and some of Levi. The rest scattered long ago many being Christians today.

SUNDAY RAPTURE THEORY

the day of His resurrection- designated the “Lord’s Day” by his beloved disciples.
This isn't true. The day of his resurrection was not designated to be called the Lord's Day by his disciples. The Lord's Day is the same as the Day of the Lord. Day of Christ, etc.

No disciple ever called any day of the week the Lord's Day. It was always the first day of the week and so on. Traditions of men started calling the Lord's Day Sunday. But it's not biblical. There's a deeper study there if one wants to check that out instead of going with tradition vs what the Word really states.

This is what is key to understanding Revelation. John was taken in the spirit on the Lord's Day/Day of the Lord and told to write about the past, present and future of that time period -the Lord's Day.

We know he's taken in the future because Christ's description is the very same description for him in chapter 19. He has the two edged sword which is what has he returns with, etc.
There would be no reason for John to be in the Spirit on a Sunday. And regardless once again, he would have stated, I was in the Spirit on the first on the first day of the week if he really meant a day of the week. That's what John and others always called it.

There is a definite break at Chapter 4:1 when John enters heaven itself.
This event pictures the Rapture of the church. From this point on, the church is never mentioned as being on earth.
Another tradition that is taught by man and not the bible.

We know from chapter 12 that the devil is Satan and it's noted in one of the church letters that some during the time period will be thrown into prison by Satan himself so the body of Christ/church will most definitely be there. The verses in Revelation mirror one another.

Revelation 2:10 "Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life..

Revelation 12:11 "And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death."

Same event. So once again, the church will be here. This is also why Paul teaches that one must have the full gospel armor on to be able to stand in that "evil day" He doesn't say every day he states " the evil day" It will happen to one generation.

And saints are the church-the body of Christ and have been described as such in the NT.

believe that the church is wed to (united with) Christ at the Rapture.
Christ and His bride will become one in the twinkling of an eye.
All are changed in an instant, no one's going anywhere.

I used to be pretrib as well but it's not biblical.

One must always be prepared to make that stand and endure to the end in case it happens in their lifetime. We can't let traditions of men and false doctrine get in the way of what the bible teaches.
