Either multiverse is true OR God is the intelligent designer?

Dr Francis Collins said:

That's a false dichotomy.

Option 1 pertains to the concept of the multiverse. Option 2 describes God as the intelligent designer of the current universe.

Let proposition P1 = We observe a universe compatible with our existence.

Collins and supporters of Option 2 are surprised that P1 is true.

Why should anyone be surprised at all to find P1 to be true? By definition, if we had not existed, we wouldn't have been observing this universe. It is unnecessary to affirm or deny multiverse for P1 to be true.

Furthermore, it is unnecessary to find a scientific theory to justify P1 ("barring a theoretical resolution"). P1 is true by definition. Logically, we do not need to search for a natural mechanism to support the fine-tuning of the universe in order to justify P1.

Dr. Collins’ framing of the issue as a dichotomy between the multiverse and God reflects a misunderstanding of the nature of P1 and the role of the anthropic principle. Neither the multiverse nor divine design is necessary to explain why we observe a universe compatible with our existence. The weak anthropic principle provides a sufficient explanation: we observe this universe because it supports life, and we could not observe otherwise.

If the gravitational constant changes slightly, life as we know it wouldn't exist.

Right.

Now, imagine that this universe, as we know it, had not existed. In its place, a universe with a slightly different gravitational constant exists, and life thrives in that universe. The intelligent life of that new universe will assert the same statement: If the gravitational constant is changed slightly, life as they know it wouldn't exist.

Note that I have not appealed to multiverse. I only appeal to P1.
I think this is appealing to the multiverse. This was introduced when it was said to imagine that a different universe existed. I think its still pre supposing that some sort of multiverse can exist.

To be able to contemplate other universes different to ours where someone exists means also accepting that this is a possibility. Each person within their universe knowing they exist in isolation to each other.

But if there is only one specific universe that conscious observers can know then that is a completely different proposition. Which requires a different measure of liklyhood I think. There is is only one universe that just so happens to allow intelligent conscious life to know this would be pretty special.

I don't think we can know for sure either way. So at best either scenario is based on a metaphysical belief about the nature or reality. One requiring naturalistic explanations which will lead to ideas like multiverses. The other allowing an outside factor coming in that set the laws in motion to produce a specific universe that holds a particular kind of life that can kow its creator.

The Holy Peoples and the Treaty

This is your problem; you say there will be a pre-trib rapture, when the scriptures never Prophecy such a thing.
Revelation 12:14 tells just who and how they will be kept from fiery trials to come. But the Christians who failed to trust in the Lords protection, will have to remain under the power of the 'beast'. Rev 12:17
Keras, it is abundantly provable that apostle John never left Patmos while writing Rev. He was immersed in the vision shown to him by one angel (Rev 1:1 and Rev 22:8).

Also, all of the many moments in Rev where John stated, "I saw" and "I heard," were about what he saw and heard in his vision. Those phrases appear in Rev 4:1-2, making them entirely about what John saw and heard in the supernatural scene presented to him related to Rev 4:1-2. Therefore, Rev 4:1 is the pre-Trib rapture of the Church.
Untrue.
Rev 12:17 ..... those who keep the Commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus.
All those discussed as such in Rev 12 are the Jews cited in Matt 24:16. They are the Jews fleeing Satan, as represented in Rev 12.

Federal Investigators Compile Evidence of Systematic Hamas Aid Theft, Undercutting Leaked USAID 'Report'

Though the Trump administration dissolved USAID itself earlier this year, USAID's inspector general's office is an independent entity that Congress established in 1980 to provide oversight of U.S. foreign aid programs. That office remains in place as its investigators probe "diversion, fraud, product substitution, smuggling, and other misconduct compromising lifesaving humanitarian assistance intended for civilians in Gaza," the memo states.
Those probes—and the evidence of widespread Hamas aid theft informing them—stand in stark contrast to an internal USAID "report" that was leaked to Reuters in late July.

What is the old saying? "A lie travels round and round the world while Truth is putting on her boots."

Beware The Leaven

“Under these circumstances, after so many thousands of people had gathered together that they were stepping on one another, He began saying to His disciples first of all, ‘Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy. But there is nothing covered up that will not be revealed, and hidden that will not be known. Accordingly, whatever you have said in the dark will be heard in the light, and what you have whispered in the inner rooms will be proclaimed upon the housetops.’” (Luke 12:1-3 NASB1995)

Under These Circumstances

In the previous chapter, Jesus was having a conversation with the Pharisees. Some of the things he said to them were that they were hypocrites who liked to appear spiritually clean on the outside while inside they were full of robbery and wickedness. They strictly observed certain religious rituals, but they disregarded justice and the love of God, and they were like graves of the dead. He spoke to the lawyers, too, for they had corrupted the true gospel of salvation, and they kept themselves and others from salvation.

And when he left their presence, the scribes and the Pharisees began to be very hostile and to question Jesus closely on many subjects, plotting against him to catch him in something he might say (see Luke 11:37-54).

So, it was under these circumstances that Jesus began to warn his disciples about the leaven (yeast) of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy. And yeast, in this context, was in reference to the spreading influence of evil which can be hidden from view, like yeast in bread, but then spread throughout all who are influenced by it. And this is happening within the gatherings of the church in the USA, where I live, and perhaps throughout the whole world. For hypocrisy is making a profession of something but living the opposite.

For Jesus Christ taught that to come to him we must deny self, take up our cross daily (die daily to sin), and follow (obey) him. For if we hold on to living in sin and for self, we will lose our lives for eternity. But if we deny self, die daily to sin, by the Spirit, and we walk in obedience to our Lord and to his commands, in his power, then we have eternal life with God. For not everyone who calls him “Lord” will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one DOING (obeying) the will of God (see Luke 9:23-26; Matthew 7:21-23).

But many people who profess faith in Jesus Christ are living the opposite of this. Sin is still what they practice, and not obedience to God. And they may or may not be people who are living in addictive sin, deliberately and habitually, but their lives are not surrendered to Jesus Christ to live for him and to do his will. They are still lord over their own lives, making all their own choices, without regard for God and for what he wants for their lives. So they are not walking in obedience to his commands, but they live for self.

Proclaimed Upon Housetops

Whenever I read this I cannot help but think of the era in which we now live where pretty much everyone’s business is being shouted on the internet or on television or on the radio or other media outlets, and 24 hours a day, and 7 days a week, non-stop. And if you are in possession of a television or have access to the internet or you have a smartphone or any smart-device, your private conversations are no longer private, and someone (or a robot) is listening in and perhaps recording what you are saying.

Mainly I believe they are using this for marketing purposes, for if we mention a particular product in a private conversation, it will frequently show up in our advertisements on the internet, especially on social media. But I believe they are also looking for certain key words to learn who they should regard as a threat or as opposition to what the government is doing. And please know that many government (and church) heads are corrupt, and they are not working for the good of the people, even if they say they are.

But it isn’t just that. Everywhere you go out in public, pretty much, people are taking pictures of other people, or they are secretly video recording them and their conversations. So there really isn’t such a thing as privacy anymore. And one day the things we said in private, where we thought no one could hear but whoever we were talking with, may indeed be broadcast via media sources to where everyone can hear what we have said when we thought no one was listening. So all of us should be careful what we say.

But it isn’t just that. Many people are sinning in secret against their spouses, or against their bosses, or against their co-workers or their relatives or against their neighbors, etc. God can still see what they are doing, but they are able to manage keeping it a secret from others. But one day this is all going to come out into the open, perhaps sooner, or perhaps later, and then those secret sins will no longer be secret, kind of like we are learning some of the secret sins of our government heads. So, please take this to heart.

Bombs are bursting. Night is falling.
Jesus Christ is gently calling
You to follow Him in all ways.
Trust Him with your life today.
Make Him your Lord and your Savior.
Turn from your sin. Follow Jesus.
He will forgive you of your sin;
Cleanse your heart, made new within.

Men betraying: Our trust fraying.
On our knees to God we’re praying,
Seeking God to give us answers
That are only found in Him.
God is sovereign over all things.
Nothing from His mind escaping.
He has all things under His command,
And will work all for good.

Jesus Christ is gently calling
You to follow Him in all ways.

Men deceiving: We’re believing
In our Lord, and interceding
For our nation and its people
To obey their God today.
He is our hope for our future.
For our wounds He offers suture.
He is all we need for this life.
Trust Him with your life today.

The Problem with Energy Drinks

speaking of energy.. the dietists recommend high protein snacks for energisers. thinking of energy I had organic raw cocoa bits. I only needed one they were that good, and did the job
Raw cocoa or cacao have caffeine unless decaffeinated. That's probably where the boost is coming from.

There are many kinds of proteins and not all them will give on-demand boost in energy and may even give the opposite - make you drowsy/sleepy,

For example, I found that protein found in cheese, milk, and meat makes me VERY sleepy shortly after consumption.

Protein in nuts does not seem to affect energy levels and may even sustain it.

When I'm working out or working long hours, I avoid protein if I need to consume some calories for energy. Animal-based protein particularly makes me very sleepy making it impossible to continue working. The only protein I can tolerate during work is nuts.

I still consume animal-based protein everyday with milk, cheese, and sardines, But I consume them strategically, before my noontime sleep and before midnight sleep- to help maximize sleep value as I work two shifts (day and night) for 3 days/week. Weekends, I work nights but do outdoor skating in the daytime. I also workout in the daytime during weekdays. I probably have huge energy demands from both long work hours + >1 hr hour workouts everyday and 6 hrs in the weekends for a total of 11 hour workouts and up to 50 hrs work every week.

I never consume energy drinks. I drink coffee but it's decaf and only 1 cup of decaf coffee each day.

Does this sit right for you?

So, I just started studying with a Book called A Divine Tapestry by Ryan M. McGraw. It is a great book summarizing each chapter of the Bible and providing memory verses for each chapter... but,

His opening summation of Genesis is,

"God covenants with fallen human beings, promising to undo the ruin Satan brought on the human race, dividing mankind into the seed of the woman and the seed of the serpent."

So is the "seed of the serpent" a category of humans in existence today? Does this reflect upon a certain number of people? Are their minions out for ....

Okay, I'm laughing at myself for suggesting this,

but then, are the non-saved considered the seed of the serpent? Is the author referring to the human race before the flood? Or is this simply a part of being in the state of not being able to justify ourselves before God (aka, depravity)?
Jesus said to the Jews that opposed Him "you are of your father the devil" but to those who accepted in "My sheep hear My voice".

They were of the same lineage - differing only by their choice to accept or reject Christ.

Question about heaven

Hi everyone

I have a general question about heaven. A few years ago, I had an argument with a family member I care a lot about, where she was really upset with me, and I think she misunderstood one comment I made and my meaning/intention. We mostly sorted everything out between us, but that was one thing I didn't explain fully.

My question is, do you think any misunderstanding about it, from her side, will be made clear and my true intention will be known, so she no longer has any possible hurt feelings about it, when we are in heaven?

Sorry if I am asking what seems like a simple question, but I am struggling a lot with anxiety over it at the moment, so would just appreciate any help from anyone.
Thank you do much
Heaven will sort out a lot of things 1 Cor 13 now we see in a glass darkly , but then on that future day all things will made clear to us

Newsom threatens ‘fire with fire’ if Republicans push ahead with redistricting plans in Texas

It's not pretty, but what's going on in Texas is equally blatant.

Demographics aren't in favor of Republicans' donors interests (note my emphasis, the donors, they are the ones really calling the shots), even with their recent electoral victories they have secured. Once the Baby Boomer generation kicks the bucket, things are going to look very different politically, with old alliances not being so dependable (younger generations social conservativism is more of a mood than a coherent ideology, and not as tied to institutional loyalty). Which is why I suspect Republicans are engaged in a desperate effort to lock down solid federal Congressional seats in places like Texas, where they dominate the state legislature. It's a last desperate effort to hold on a little while longer.

In Every Good Work and Word

“Now may our Lord Jesus Christ Himself and God our Father, who has loved us and given us eternal comfort and good hope by grace, comfort and strengthen your hearts in every good work and word.” (2 Thessalonians 2:16-17 NASB1995)

If we are following Jesus Christ with our lives, as Jesus followed God the Father, and as his New Testament apostles followed God – Father, Son Jesus Christ, and Holy Spirit – and if our goal is to live for the Lord, to please him in all that we are and say and do, we may find that living like this can be a lonely existence, at times. And we may find ourselves being opposed and rejected and forsaken because we don’t “fit in” with the majority.

For we are not those who have given lip service to the Lord only, believing we are now forgiven of all sins and that heaven is secured for us when we die. We are those who have died with Christ to sin, who are living for the Lord to serve him with our lives, and who are walking in obedience to his commands, in practice, though not necessarily in absolute perfection. For we are still clay in the hands of the Potter being molded into his likeness.

For God’s love for us, and his grace, are what sent Jesus Christ to the cross to die for our sins. And when Jesus died, our sins died with him so that, by God-persuaded faith in Jesus Christ we will now die to sin and live to God and to his righteousness in walks of obedience to his commands, in surrender to his will and purpose for our lives. And his grace teaches us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives while we await our Lord’s soon return for his bride.

For the eternal comfort and good hope by grace, given to us by God, are based in the teachings of Christ and of his New Testament apostles, taught in their correct biblical context. And they all taught faith in Jesus Christ and salvation from sin and eternal life with God as coming from God, and not from ourselves, and as resulting in us dying to sin, not just once, but daily, and us walking in fellowship with our Lord in walks of obedience to him.

And this is where we find comfort and strength, in faith in Jesus Christ, and in the truth of the gospel, in death to sin, and in living for God to do his will. We find comfort and strength in knowing that we are living for the Lord, according to his will and purpose for our lives, and that we are being led by the Spirit in every good work and word which God has for us to do and to speak for his glory and honor, even when we face much opposition.

Humbly I bow, Lord, before You,
Bringing my requests to You.
May I listen; hear You speaking.
May I follow You in truth.
Gently lead me in Your service.
Guide my steps and strengthen me.
Fill me with Your love and mercy.
May I live for Thee!

Let me be Your servant witness,
Telling others of Your grace.
May I always share the gospel
With those I meet face to face.
May I show the love of Jesus,
Caring for the needs of men;
Be Your servant witness always
For my Lord, Amen!

My desire to be like Jesus,
Living for Him ev’ry day.
May I obey all His teachings
Given me, so I’ll not stray.
Love You, Jesus, Lord, my master.
You are the King of my heart;
Follow You where’er You lead me;
Not from You depart!

Marriage Advice Help

Like others said, I'd encourage you to lean on Jesus through praying, perhaps find a good pastor who can pray with you. Your wife may be hurting, and lost trust, which may take time to rebuild, but don't be afraid, it's not your job to change her; it's the Holy Spirit, but she needs to see if you're serious about wanting to save this marriage, and I believe you do. As I've been through a similar situation before, I know it feels like you're alone, but you are not. In Psalm 34:18 "The Lord is near the brokenhearted; he saves those crushed in spirit.".

better way to deal with misquotes of church fathers or reformers

I was very surprised at the "ambivalent" claim. But perhaps when this was happening, Jesus was still working on them, fixing their false beliefs.

I used to believe that it was wrong for women to preach and teach the Bible because I thought that was what the Bible said. I had to have a very dramatic and confusing experience involving a false teacher to be corrected of my beliefs.

Former PM Bennett: Israel is 'losing the Republican Party' and everyday Americans due to poor government messaging

Former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett warned on Tuesday that Israel is losing support within the Republican Party and America in general, and blamed this trend on poor messaging from officials within Netanyahu’s government.

“The Democratic Party hasn’t been with us for some time,” he said. “We’re also losing the Republican Party, whose support for Israel could once be counted on.”

“Even those who have been our friends are having a hard time defending the State of Israel,” Bennett wrote, adding that many Americans are increasingly seeing Israel “as a liability and burden.”

Why don't American Christians care about the ethnic cleansing of an ancient Christian homeland?

As a veteran international religious freedom advocate who is no stranger to the halls of Capitol Hill, Chelsea Sobolik says she didn't know as much as she thinks she should have about Armenia's historic Christian roots before attending a fact-finding trip to the Caucasus country earlier this month.

Sobolik, the director of government relations with the Evangelical humanitarian organization World Relief, who previously worked for the Southern Baptist Convention's Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission, joined a delegation of Christian leaders and scholars from the United States who met with some of the over 120,000 Armenians forcibly displaced from their ancestral homeland of Artsakh (known internationally as Nagorno-Karabakh) nearly two years ago.
