  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The Architect of the Restrictions to the Latin Mass really - REALLY - hates the newly canonized Carlo Acutis

1) You must want it with all your heart, and if you don't yet desire it, you must insistently ask the Lord for it.
2) Try to go to Holy Mass and receive Holy Communion every day.
3) Remember to recite the Holy Rosary every day.
4) Read a passage from Sacred Scripture every day.
5) If you can, spend some time in Eucharistic Adoration before the Tabernacle where Jesus is truly present, and you will see how your level of holiness will increase prodigiously.
7) If you can, confess your venial sins every week, even if you are a virgin.
Frequently make resolutions and sacrifices to the Lord and Our Lady to help others.
9) Continually ask for help from your Guardian Angel, who must become your best friend.

Absolutely, 100% truth!

It works!

One thing I don't understand about the creationist position

Hopefully she will return.

If she does she should my post here with the response to her, may she then change her approach with those she disagrees with. It is not such a long time. I took a break from this forum site several years ago and was away a longer time than this.

New belief among teenagers. What do you think?

I think this video is pertinent to the topic:

Although I'm neither a therian nor a technophobe, I value things like imagination and reconnecting with nature. It's good to put down the screen and touch grass every now and then. What we're witnessing might be a reaction to an increasingly artificial world. A consequence rather than a cause.

Mansions of the Lord (from the movie We Were Soldiers) - West Point Band and West Point Glee Club

Here are the lyrics...

To fallen soldiers let us sing
where no rockets fly nor bullets wing
our broken brothers let us bring
To the mansions of the Lord
no more bleeding, no more fight
no prayers pleading through the night
just divine embrace, eternal light
in the mansions of the lord
where no mothers cry
and no children weep
we shall stand and guard through the angels sleep
while through the ages safely keep
the mansions of the lord

Faith

Really?
It is God that works in us both to will and do His good pleasure. Without Him we can do nothing. But with Him all things are possible. For in Him we live, move and have our being. Christ in us, us in Him that the world might believe.
That’s fine. But maybe you could just explain how that relates to my post. I don't mean to be dull but either way, yes, apart from Him we can do nothing and with Him all things are possible. He can break through our stubborn hearts- and even this world around us-replete with both good and evil- is structured so as to impress upon us our need, our lack, when the Master's effectively gone away. Humanity is a very needy group and we're here to realize just how deprived and depraved we are-apart from Him. Adam sought complete autonomy. What do we lose with that?

Trump's health

U.S. President Donald Trump's health is under scrutiny again following a recent public appearance at a 9/11 anniversary memorial service at the Pentagon.
Here is a picture:

View attachment 369867

If this was my father, I would be worried that he had a stroke.
I have no idea if he had a stoke, or pretending . But he's guilty of 1st degree murder on multiple victims, for the killing of people on the Venezuelan boat. And for people, died or went to jail for January 6th. Sadly he will never be charged.

What is Calvinism and its beliefs?

Understanding how salvation relates to divine sovereignty and human responsibility has been a source of tension and struggles for many centuries. Calvinism is one of the most influential theological systems in church history, shaping how many Christians understand the gospel, grace, and God’s purposes. But what is Calvinism, what do Calvinists believe, and how does the Bible speak to these issues?

Historical roots

Calvinism is a branch of Protestant theology that emphasizes the sovereignty of God in salvation. It is named after the 16th-century Reformer John Calvin (1509–1564), whose writings helped shape the Protestant Reformation alongside Martin Luther and others. While Calvin himself didn’t invent all of its ideas, his teaching systematized doctrines of grace that became central to Reformed theology.

Calvinism teaches that salvation is entirely a work of God—planned by the Father, accomplished by Christ, and applied by the Holy Spirit. Calvinists believe that left to themselves, people would never choose God, but through His sovereign grace, God calls and saves His people.

Strictly speaking, Calvinism is synonymous with the broader Reformed tradition, with specific teachings on the sacraments and other doctrines, but on the popular level, Calvinism has been summarized into the Five Points of Calvinism, or TULIP.

The Five Points of Calvinism (TULIP)

Continued below.
A great many Christians that are not Presbyterians are "not Calvinist", but Calvin did bring in a number of much-needed reformation teachings.

One problem with 4 and 5 point Calvinism is that it has difficulty avoiding the problem of "arbitrary selection". Where God sends the majority of the Matt 7 folks to the wide road of hell and the few of Matt 7 get "zapped" into accepting the Gospel. Some will say that all deserve hell so then this is an acceptable image of God.

But God makes claims totally inconsistent with the Arbitrary Selection model in places like
2 Pet 3 "God is not willing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance"
Matt 23 "How I WANTED to spare your children, but you would not"
John 1:11 "He came to HIS OWN and his own received Him not"
Matt 18 "I forgave you all that debt just because you asked, you should have forgiven others as you were forgiven but you did not... return all the debt to him"

Change god complex to delusions of Dominance

Title: Retire the Term “God Complex” — Replace It with “Delusions of Dominance”

To: The American Psychiatric Association, American Psychological Association, educators, media professionals, and the public

The term “god complex” has been used for decades to describe arrogance, superiority, and obsession with control. But the phrase is not only clinically inaccurate — it is also deeply disrespectful to God. By using His holy name as a slur, the expression reduces the Almighty to a punchline for human arrogance.

It is time to retire this harmful phrase and replace it with a term that is both accurate and respectful: Delusions of Dominance.

---

Why the Change is Needed

1. Disrespect to God
God’s name is holy and should not be mocked or attached to human flaws. The Bible reminds us:

“You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain.” (Exodus 20:7)

“Be still, and know that I am God.” (Psalm 46:10)

Calling arrogance a “god complex” suggests that sinful pride mirrors the nature of God — which is false and blasphemous. Arrogance is the opposite of God’s character, which is just, holy, and merciful.

2. Cultural Irreverence
Every time the phrase “god complex” is used, it casually places humanity on the same level as the Creator. This normalizes irreverence toward God in everyday speech and encourages pride — the very sin that led to Satan’s fall (Isaiah 14:12–15).

3. Lack of Clinical Accuracy
The term “god complex” has never been a recognized diagnosis. In psychology, traits like arrogance and exaggerated superiority are classified as symptoms of narcissism, mania, or delusional disorders. Professionals already use terms like grandiosity and delusions of grandeur — so why should society cling to a sensationalized phrase that offends people of faith?

4. A Better Alternative Exists
We propose adopting “Delusions of Dominance.”

It is accurate — “delusions” refers to false beliefs, and “dominance” captures the obsession with power and superiority.

It is memorable — strong, clear, and easy to use in conversation, education, and media.

It is respectful — no longer dragging God’s name into an insult.
I’ve worked in psychology and mental health for 20 years and have never come across the term ‘God complex’ in a clinical setting.

Why do US schools not allow the Bible to be taught ?

I heard somewhere that if teachers in the US even mention the name 'Jesus' to their pupils they are sacked from their jobs, how true is this ?

It's not true. However, teaching religion as dogma isn't allowed generally in US schools. But you can talk about religion, if it's relevant to the curicula, as an historical or cultural phenomenon.

Where Are We Headed?

Where are we headed now? Do you know?
What’s in our future? Does it now show?
Look through the window. Now can you see
Lies of the enemy on a spree?

Just check the internet, everywhere.
Lies are invading us, none to spare.
So many people are unaware,
Living as though they have not a care.

Time now is ticking at a fast pace.
Reality, we must now embrace.
Life now is not what it used to be.
We’re not a people who’re living free.

The enemy is now at our door.
No longer can we him now ignore.
No matter if we are rich or poor,
Nothing will change what he has in store.

All this was told us now long ago,
So that the truth of this we should know.
Liberty no longer us to have.
All will be under a One World “Dad.”

So let me tell you a story true,
Jesus, our Savior, what He went through,
Died on a cross to put sin to death,
So we would die to sin, love, instead.

Jesus is calling us, Him obey,
Follow Him where He leads, all the way,
Give of our lives to Him, do His will,
Live for Him every day, Spirit filled.

For if we choose to Him not obey,
Dying to sin, we’ll not go that way,
Even if we claim our faith in Him,
Eternal life to us not be given.

Jonah 4

I think many times Jonah becomes just another lesson on loving your neighbor, but what it really is is a teaching on God's sovereignty. This isn't a popular teaching b/c we like to be in control, but I fear teaching on God's sovereignty often gets neglected. He will do what he wants to do: he wants to save the Ninevites, he will save the Ninevites, regardless if Jonah likes it or not

US loses last perfect credit rating amid rising debt

I’m leery that you may not understand that everyone agrees that “things will get worse”, following Trump’s policies.
His supporters expect “things to get even better” after the world’s markets get used to the idea that tariffs could go up at anytime so they better “play nice” with the President of the United States until 2029 (at least).

We have the very best economy, we’re number one…yet that’s not enough…we have to get the best of EVERY DEAL.
If countries “fear” what we might do, they’re be nicer to us than if they just “liked us”. Who needs “friends” when you’re as rich as US? (sans the trillions in IOU’s)

Always in his Prescence liked your post!
I don't think he got it. ;)

Adam Smith - the very founder of modern economics - was NOT a fan of tariffs.
Trump has made me agree with Ronald Reagan on something! What is the world coming to when I agree with Reagan? Call a medic!?

Is John 3:3 SALVATION. ?

John 3:3 Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

That is pretty plain if you read it.

The real question is that, at the time of Jesus 1st coming, how did Israel perceived the meaning of the term "kingdom of God"?

A good explanation is found in Zechariah 8.
