  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Reagan-Appointed Judge Issues Brutal Condemnation of Donald Trump

A federal judge appointed by former President Ronald Reagan has resigned from his lifetime position on Friday, issuing a scathing public condemnation of Republican President Donald Trump administration's approach to justice and the rule of law.

Judge Mark L. Wolf, who served on the U.S. District Court in Massachusetts since 1989, announced his departure in a Sunday op-ed published by The Atlantic titled "Why I Am Resigning," stating he can no longer abide by judicial restrictions that prevent him from publicly addressing what he characterizes as the administration's systematic dismantling of the rule of law.

"The White House's assault on the rule of law is so deeply disturbing to me that I feel compelled to speak out. Silence, for me, is now intolerable," Wolf writes.

On his commitment to protecting the rule of law after leaving the bench, Wolf wrote that he "resigned in order to speak out, support litigation, and work with other individuals and organizations dedicated to protecting the rule of law and American democracy. I also intend to advocate for the judges who cannot speak publicly for themselves."

Wolf's extensive career focused on fighting corruption and maintaining judicial impartiality. Beginning in 1974 during the Watergate crisis, he served as a special assistant to Deputy Attorney General Laurence Silberman. When President Gerald Ford appointed Edward Levi as attorney general in 1975 to restore confidence in the Justice Department, Ford directed Levi to "protect the rights of American citizens, not the President who appointed him."

From 1981 to 1985, as deputy U.S. attorney and chief federal prosecutor for public corruption in Massachusetts, Wolf and his team secured over 40 consecutive corruption convictions, earning him the Attorney General's Distinguished Service Award.

On prosecutorial standards, Wolf writes: "What Nixon did episodically and covertly, knowing it was illegal or improper, Trump now does routinely and overtly"

He also highlighted the systematic dismantling of anti-corruption infrastructure, writing that Trump fired 18 inspectors general responsible for detecting fraud across federal agencies, eliminated the FBI's public-corruption squad, and reduced the Justice Department's public-integrity section from 30 lawyers to five.

I keep falling into sin for some reason

I dont really know have a good direct response to what you said. I will admit though I'm sure I dont do the best of jobs doing what you said at all even if I pray for them. I just get tired of dealing with this struggle. After a while its such a drain on me mentally to fight it. I don't want to anymore and wish God would just take it away from me.
I said that I struggle with the same stuff you do in my thoughts. Don’t let this hinder you from doing whatever good you can do for others. I don’t try to justify myself with works but I know the Lord wants to see something from us ( Matthew 25:31-46).

A personal example of what I mean is that recently, I had lustful thoughts. The next day I heard an appeal from a local food bank and didn’t let my sin hinder me from donating ( Matthew 6:1-4). It doesn’t keep me from praying for myself and others ( 1 Timothy 2:1-6) ( Matthew 6:9-13) or for evangelism ( Matthew 9:36-38).

I think of the Lord speaking about the Pharisee and publican in Luke 18:9-14. The Pharisee does good works but he flushes a lot of it down the drain with his pride & unintended idolatry. The Lord tells us the repentant publican is justified. As always, I find the golden rule ( Matthew 7:1-12) as my coping mechanism.

Over 80 faith leaders urge Trump to address Syrian Christians with al-Sharaa: 'Impending catastrophe'

More than 80 Christian leaders signed a letter to President Donald Trump ahead of his historic White House meeting Monday with Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa, urging him to remember the plight of persecuted Christians, Druze and other religious minorities in Syria.

"With the visit of Syria's new President, Ahmed al-Sharaa, scheduled for November 10, 2025, we urge you to address directly the massacre of Christians, Kurds, Druze, and Alawites in Syria, notably in the greater Suwayda area," said the Nov. 7 letter, which can be read on the website of the advocacy group Save the Persecuted Christians.

Dede Laugesen, president of the Colorado-based organization, wrote the letter to Trump, describing him as “the only major world leader fighting for religious freedom” and highlighting his recent attention to the persecution of Christians in Nigeria.

Study suggests transgender contagion fizzling out

I'm surprised you guys didn't expect this at all.

For MANY, this whole thing was a bit of a "Fad". In my mind everything that was happenning sounded like a fad; especially while watching my teenage daughter go through it all. I could see how her and her friends "interacted" with this phenomenon; for MANY of those kids, it is little more than a social "clique" or identifier.

For SOME of those kiddoes, it IS a real thing and THEY need the support no doubt.
Agreed, although some would disagree what genuine support looks like, which is fine.

Kim Davis ask SCOTUS to overturn her jury verdict and, while they're at it, the Obergefell decision

Supreme Court rejects long-shot effort to overturn same-sex marriage ruling

The court turned away an appeal filed by Kim Davis, a former county clerk in Kentucky who was sued after refusing to issue a marriage license to a gay couple.

Without comment, the justices rejected an appeal brought by Kim Davis, a former county clerk in Kentucky who was sued in 2015 for refusing to issue marriage licenses because of her opposition to same-sex marriage based on her religious beliefs.
Not surprising. It’s not like Davis had any power to do anything to begin with. Her 15 minutes of fame are long gone.

Supreme Court hears case of Rastafarian forced to shave dreadlocks

The U.S. Supreme Court heard arguments Monday for a case involving whether Louisiana prison officials must pay damages to a former inmate who had his hair forcibly shaved in violation of his religious beliefs.

The case centers on Damon Landor, a Rastafarian who was handcuffed to a chair and forcibly shaved at the Raymond Laborde Correctional Center, ignoring his religious objections.

The question before the high court is whether Landor can demand damages from individual government employees under the federal Religious Land Use and Institutionalized Persons Act.

During the oral arguments, Zachary Tripp, an attorney for Landor, argued that if damages cannot be awarded under RLUIPA, then “officials can literally treat the law like garbage.”

Trump administration returns to Supreme Court in fight over frozen SNAP benefits

His notice comes after a federal appeals court late Sunday rejected the administration’s bid to halt U.S. District Judge John McConnell’s order, which directed the government to fund November SNAP payments by transferring some $4 billion in child nutrition funds.

Though those payments remain frozen under a Friday night ruling from Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson, the appeals court’s decision starts a 48-hour clock for it to expire.

What is Calvinism and its beliefs?

Take it up with the Reformed Calvinist theologian Karl Barth - who of course did not preach universalism. We are, however, again, according to him, permitted to hope, genuinely hope, that in the end all of God's creation will be brought back to him.
I genuinely hope that in the end God's purpose for it (Ro 9:22-24) is accomplished (of which there is no doubt) by his ordination of it.

Anglicans meet in India to tackle modern slavery: 'Church cannot remain passive'

Anglicans met in the Diocese of Durgapur in north India for a conference aimed at tackling human trafficking and slavery. The conference was run by the diocese in conjunction with the missionary organisation United Society Partners in the Gospel (USPG).

The Diocese of Durgapur has been praised for its long-running anti-trafficking program, which is operated in partnership with USPG.

It is estimated that nearly 50 million people around the world are living in a form of modern slavery; of these, 11 million are estimated to live in India, making the country the slavery capital of the world.

Criminal profits generated from forced labor are estimated to be around $236 billion per year across the globe.

The Rev. Canon Peniel Rajkumar, global theologian and director of global mission at USPG, said, "These are not distant statistics: they are real people created in God’s image, with inherent worth, dignity, and value, regardless of status or circumstance. Because of this, the Church cannot remain passive.

Christian house church leaders arrested, detained by authorities on ‘fraud’ charges

Three leaders of an unregistered Christian house church in Xi’an city in central China have been arrested by communist authorities and detained on fraud charges, reigniting concerns over religious freedom in China.

Pastor Lian Xuliang, Pastor Lian Changnian and church member Fu Juan were taken into custody last Sunday by the First Branch of the Xi’an Municipal Public Security Bureau, according to the watchdog organization ChinaAid.

The arrests were approved by the Baqiao District Court, and the three are currently held at the Weiyang District Detention Center, the group added.

The arrests mark a repeat of legal action against the same individuals, who were previously detained on similar fraud charges on Aug. 17, 2022. They were held for nearly three years before being released on bail in April 2025.

Why Do My T-Shirts Get Small Holes In The Front Of Them Before They Get Holes In The Back?

I occasionally did stuff. My chemistry set was banned when I put a snail in a test tube of sodium.
This reminds me of the mystery small holes in a t-shirt I once had...

My freshman year in college I (like many in my dorm) got a particular lowish quality t-shirt for signing up to the "hall association" (prime non-tshirt benefit was the weekly movie series). At some point that year I noticed several small holes in the shirt and it was "weird". That summer I realized that the source was probably a splash of weak acid from chemistry class.

Is gambling sinful?

Gambling in and of it self isn't a sin. It's a sin if you're using money that you need that needs to go else where (priorities). Like, if you have a family and you're short on cash, you aren't supposed to then go and spend money on gambling. Because you are required to take care of your family and their needs before anything else. Even if you don't have a family, your needs first still applies but I would say you're running a higher risk of God stepping in with corrections with a family due to the fact that family is supposed to be put first and he holds that to a higher standard.

Could a Christian also ever be involved in the gambling business? Although some people move on, for others it destroys lives and they wished they never gambled. or is gambling seen as a legitimate business just like farmers?
Not a legitimate business. Consider it like this, everything given to us was given to us by God. So essentially, all the money you have is given by God. Using some money for frivolous spending is fine if you can afford it, but using it as a business is not because of what you stated, it can destroy lives. You are gambling your life, your families life and if you have any kids, their life on a regular basis. Gambling has a massive higher probability to fail and like the saying goes, "the house always wins". God prefers people to do an honest work (like farming) and with the stakes being so high, I just can't see anything in scripture that would back up an idea that gambling as a business would be okay but I do see a lot of the contrary due to the priorities that God has already established.

I wish I were asexual

I’ve been in this situation and it’s hard. Specially hard when people don’t understand the moral struggle and the pain in the heart. It hurts to feel you are constantly failing God. It also hurts when people pretend it’s easy and they are successful in overcoming without fail, when for most that is just unrealistic and impossible even.

I interpreted my struggles as a calling to pursue a relationship. Temptation was so pervasive and stressful it made me cry, feel inadequate, feel distant form God, be rejected by church friends who were judgmental, it was very very painful.

What helped me deal with this is:

1. Don’t torture yourself, as you’ve said it’s a natural desire God has placed on humans and that doesn’t make you a demon possessed individual. Most single Christian’s people struggle more than they are willing to openly admit.

2. Keep yourself occupied. Tire yourself, work long hours, exercise, create personal projects, spend time with people, volunteer, this helps keep the mind at bay and helps you fall asleep faster than temptation can come to you lol.

3. Remember the benefits of celibacy. No STD, no emotional harm by being sexually used or abused and discarded by men, you won’t drag past bad experiences into a new relationship, no unplanned pregnancy. Give thanks to God being celibate is good for you in more significant ways than abstinence causes suffering. You won’t regret it.

4. Pursue dating. I was single for 8 years and struggling, but I was never approached by any guy let alone any Christian so, contrary to common advice I took a more active approach to this situation. I started going to Bible study, I talked to guys I found attractive, I faced rejection, I was more open to dating men who were not necessarily my type. I finally met someone and now I’ll be getting married soon.

5. Be careful while dating and I mean it. In my country men are mysoginists. While I tried to be more proactive I faced disrespect, unwanted advances, manipulation and one time a guy restrained me. My life was endangered by a Christian guy from church. Don’t think a guy being Christian inmediately grants him the opportunity to be with you. Avoid being alone with men, try keeping some company with you. I didn’t have anyone who would help make us company me and that’s why I ended up in that tricky situation.

6. Learn what is a healthy relationship and how abuse looks like and avoid it. Don’t stand disrespectful men just because they are Christian. Manipulators, liars, jealousy, avoid that like the plague.

7. Be honest with yourself. It takes two to have a healthy relationship, try to see what you can do better, whether I’d be being more patient, more open minded, less superficial, more tidy, whatever it is. You can ask help from friends, family, pastors, elders. Make sure they are people that love you sincerely.

8. Be careful with people. I had fake friends at church that tried to sabotage me, the only explanation I can think of is that they didn’t want me to find a partner.

Choosing a partner is a very important decision, seek as much guidance as you deem necessary, but know that at the end of the day there will always be doubts.

Don’t do it alone, involve people because that will protect you in more ways that you may be aware of. Abusive men will not harm you if that would destroyed their reputation, always let them know people know what you are doing and that you are keeping them updated on how things go. Avoid being in dangerous situations like being isolated, alone in a room or a car with a man you don’t know much.

I wish you the best of luck ❤️ God sees your tears and knows your heart desire to please him, I believe that is way more important that having a perfect performance.

The life of the Trinity in Saint Elizabeth Catez

The Catechism of the Catholic Church says that the mystery of the Holy Trinity is “the central mystery of Christian faith and life” and “the most fundamental and essential teaching.”1 But how can fallen human beings hope to comprehend “a mystery that is inaccessible to reason alone”?2 For those who do not delight in reading theological textbooks, a recently canonized saint offers a practical guide to the truth of Trinitarian theology.

Why Christianity

I believe in God.. but I don't know God. I don't know if God corresponds to any particular scriptures. How does one begin to sift through the different ideas to come to the truth.. what is the best way to approach the search?
You know I was thinking of this very subject. How would a Christian explain Christianity or the message in the gospel or bible today. It seems a big topic and we hear about all the Christian apologetics let alone secular arguements about God and Christianity.

Its like how does anyone get any message out about anything in an age of info and rationalisations about what a Christian is, what is the right way. I mean we have 101 denominations all differing and arguing. No wonder people are bewilded.

Then I thought what happened in the early church. How did they get the message out. What was the message. Did they have appologetics. I mean they did not even have the bible apart from the old testament for much of the first century.

The disciples and especially Paul and others were going out more than ever to spread the message. So it wasn't as if there was no message they all knew to preach.

Then I realised it was so simple. They were witnesses and were being eye witnesses. They were giving an eye witness account of what happened and why. Thats it. The gospel. A simple message that Christ died and was raised again and that He sacrificed His life for us as sinners. That by believing this testimony you are saved.

Its so simple that we can miss it and complicate it. It is just repeating the eye witness testimony that we believe the same. We believe it really happened. From that all else flows.

When Paul speaks of the spirit and flesh you cannot know the spirit and flesh unless you live in Christs spirit. So it is the spirit that opens our eyes as we come closer to God. We can read something one day and then we understand. But the more we live in Christs spirit the more we understand. We will understand like the disciples understand because the spirit is for all and the same spirit.

I don't think its much more complicated than that because there are many people with varying abilities and some uneducated or with setbacks but can still understand. I don't think theres some complicated answer and its really the truth and real life if God is the God of life.

I think most people already know the truth and thats not always some arguement that makes it true according to some philsopher. I think its all contained within the bible. Early Christians did not have all the modern day arguements.

I am not saying comentary or appologetics doesn't help. It helps a lot in perhaps giving a more detailed response to the same basic truth. But I don't think we need that to believe the truth. Its more than that. That is why sometimes people will disagree. I mean how can two Christians disagree lol, they are suppose to be of one mind and spirit. I think keep it simple.

Another aspect to consider is that there are different personalities ie agreeable, assertive, disagreeable, introverted ect. Then you have personal experience. These can all influence the interaction and a confident liar can sometimes outsmart or play a not so sure truth teller.
Yes even in the church. They are the wolves and they are good at it so watch em. Just stay away lol.

But fundementally its about a belief and a sacrifice that have no winning arguement. Its taking on that belief that it renews your mind and you can see what cannot be seen and hear what cannot be heard by the world. I like Psalm 46:10 is fitting "Be still and know that I am God".

More Americans are now reading the Bible but fewer believe it’s 100% accurate: study

With Millennials and Generation Z leading the way, particularly among men, Bible reading among U.S. adults in 2025 is at its highest level in the last 15 years, according to new data from the "State of the Church" initiative.

The initiative by Barna Group and Gloocollected data from 12,116 online interviews conducted between January and October of 2025. The research revealed that approximately 50% of self-identified Christians report reading the Bible weekly, the highest level of Bible reading among Christians in more than a decade.

Weekly Bible reading among all U.S. adults reached its lowest point in 15 years in 2024 when it hit 30%. In 2025, the figure rebounded 12 percentage points to 42%, according to the latest data.

"Bible reading is rising again across generations, marking a reset to faith engagement levels we haven't seen in a decade," David Kinnaman, CEO of Barna Group, said in a statement. "People aren't just curious about faith — they're opening Scripture for themselves. This trend aligns with other signs of renewal we've seen in our research, like growing commitments to Jesus and increased church attendance."

Or maybe that just means they aren't reading it with Fundamentalist slavishly literalist standards. That could be good.

Sodom's Restoration.

I think spiritually theres a message. Like the Flood people got to a point in rejecting and defying God that brought judgement. It was so evil that it made bad look good. But still they did not lean and the spirit of that evil defiance lives on.

It is the way it has always gone until Christ returns. People reject God and the end result eventually is gross evil and defiance of God. Its almost inherited in the fall until evil has its way and it is no more. Like history repeating itself.

I think we can see the developing spirit of change away from God generally. I think we crossed a threshold as the so called free western empire that Christianity came from finally rejected God from the public square and we have seen the changing culture. What was unacceptable decades ago is now the norm.

I reckon some goings on today pretty well are getting up there with the goings on in the back streets of Sodom lol.
