Trump affirms faith at religious liberty meeting: 'We go through all of this for a reason'

WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump affirmed his administration's commitment to religious liberty and the role that Christian faith has played in U.S. history during a Monday speech at the second meeting of the White House Religious Liberty Commission.

Speaking blocks from the Capitol to a packed theater of approximately 500 people at the Museum of the Bible, Trump also highlighted steps his administration has been taking to push back against what he described as the impulse to mitigate the influence of Christianity in American life, especially in public schools.

“When faith gets weaker, our country seems to get weaker," Trump said. "When faith gets stronger, as it is right now … good things happen for our country. It's amazing the way it seems to work that way. Under the Trump administration, we're defending our rights and restoring our identity as a nation under God."

"We are one nation under God, and we always will be," he said.

How ought a Christian exercise political power in this world?

Some Christian are elected to high office or appointed to it. How should they exercise the power that they receive?
In a nutshell, that's the field of Caesar. Humans can make a living through serving Caesar. You serve both to the same extent though. God should be above all. Christians are the citizens of God's kingdom on earth (the one in the midst of us). Your citizenship to a country (belongs to a Caesar) is virtual.

Can someone help me with prayer? All views welcome!

I could really use some scriptures regarding prayer.

My questions are:
  1. How formal do we need to be when addressing God i.e. should we be fully clothed and/or have our heads covered?
  2. Is it appropriate to ask God for blessings or deliverance from ill health or anything else?
These questions have arisen because I am not familiar with the scriptures regarding prayer but I know different denominations have different beliefs which I assume are biblical in nature?

I was raised to view prayer as relatively casual i.e. it's okay to pray in the shower, in bed (even if you accidentally fall asleep!) etc.

I feel uncomfortable asking God for anything to do with increasing or maintaining any of my comforts in this world. This is because Jesus refers to spiritual healing, blessings etc and even redirects a mans priorities when he asks Jesus to assist with his issues with inheritance What does Luke 12:15 mean? | BibleRef.com:

Context Summary
Luke 12:13–21 records Jesus taking advantage of an interruption to explain a proper perspective of wealth. Jesus has been warning the disciples that faithfulness to Him may require their deaths. A man in the crowd, possibly shouting in the middle of that teaching, demands Jesus settle a family conflict over an inheritance. Jesus declines that request but warns the crowd against temporary, earthly treasures if they distract from their relationship with God. He will return to this theme, telling the crowd to reconcile with people and God or risk earthly and eternal ruin (Luke 12:54—13:9). This parable is unique to Luke's Gospel.

Chapter Summary
Jesus teaches the disciples about proper priorities. This includes recognizing that God knows all things, even secrets. Believers should honor God more than they fear death, or than they worry about things like food and clothes. Christians are to remain ready for Christ's return, even as faith separates those who believe from those who do not. These ideas revolve around the central theme of verse 34: that a person's heart reflects what they value most.

I have a genuine concern that people view Jesus as a genie, who is there to grant wishes, and they are angry and bitter and turn from Him when their requests aren't answered or not answered in the way they expect. In fact, this happened to me when I was young and, as a result, I turned from God for over 20+ years.

Praise His name, He did not abandon me and I was a lost sheep which was again found!

But, I feel like the purpose of prayer may be misrepresented/misinterpreted.

I would like to hear others views on this point because, currently, I only ever pray for:
  1. Endurance - to retain my relationship with Jesus Christ through all temptation and tribulation
  2. The salvation of unbelievers and particularly those who are close to me
  3. The ability to ensure that I am representing myself in a way that that glorifies Him to believers and non-believers
Thank you all and God bless.
Prayer and reading and doing God's word is so essential for a healthy Christian relationship and then sharing what we learn is essential. I think you received some great advice here but I will add a few more things that may be helpful.

I believe we should be praying non-stop throughout the day. Having a close relationship with Jesus and share with Him what's on our minds and struggles we are facing is important. But I also think we should spend formal time with Jesus on our knees praying like Daniel Daniel 6:10. We are in some deceptive times, just as Daniel and his friends went through and in order for us not to be deceived like Daniel and his friends, we need to have a clear understanding of God's will and His word and have a close relationship with Him, so when the whole world is following a deceptive path Rev 12:9 we not only know the Truth from His word, we have built up a strong relationship of faith in Jesus that can only come by through prayer and letting His word be the light to our path Psa 119:105

There is nothing wrong with asking God for blessing us and for asking Him to help us overcome sickness etc. But as you indicated God is not a genie and our will may not be His. When I was younger and before I was a dedicated Christian I smoked briefly, I still believed in God but obviously not taking care of my temple (body) the way it aligned with God and I needed help overcoming the temptation of smoking. I remember getting on my knees and sincerely praying to help overcome the addiction of smoking. The next day I came down with a sore throat and the thought of smoking made me ill, the Lord took away that desire and I have never smoked or even thought about doing so once. So our prayers need to be aligned with God's will. Scripture even indicates so.

1 John 5:14 Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. 15 And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.

When I was single and prayed for a husband, I trusted God would know what would make me happy more than I would know myself, so instead of praying for specifics- tall, rich, handsome etc. I prayed for God's will that whatever person He brought my way I would trust Him because He knows what best. I think when we start praying for our will we start trusting in ourselves instead of allowing God to be God to deliver what He knows is best for us and why I think a lot of prayers go unanswered. Two weeks later I met my husband.

Some prayers go unanswered because our lifestyle is not aligned with His will.

Pro 28:9 One who turns away his ear from hearing the law, Even his prayer is an abomination.

So we can't be living a life in rebellion to God's law, which is His expressed will Psa 40:8 Heb 8:10 and expect Him to bless us. Read the blessings and curses for obedience Bible Gateway passage: Deuteronomy 28 - New King James Version

I believe God wants to give us good gifts and bless us and part of my prayer is always asking God for His help in overcoming my will and ask His help in replacing my will for His. Even a devout Christian can be overcome by this world. Its easy to do, so as Paul said, we must die to self daily, its an ongoing thing and surrender our will to His. The only way to do this is by spending daily time in His word, sharing our faith and the priority of prayer.

God bless!

Warning to believers to exercise discernment

It is obvious that Christian kindness has been exploited by those who have an agenda, and it is critical in these times to exercise discernment. Remember, we are warned that satan "appears as an angel of light."

As Christians, we want to be kind and assist noble causes, but at the same time, we need to exercise discernment about what cause our assistance is actually furthering, and if we are being used as an ATM by those who either wish us harm, or merely want to exploit our system for gain, and allow others to support them instead of working.

The following is an excerpt of an article that shows how believers have been manipulated through the selective quoting of scripture, even by self-admitted atheists. Specific verses are used, in an attempt to shame believers into doing the bidding of these pied pipers. The article warns about Soros and Rubio.

In Florida, Rubio's state, the rate of fraud among Cubans who abused the "wet foot/ dry foot" policy is astronomical. The Sun Sentinel ran a blockbuster article on the millions of Cubans on welfare, food stamps, medicaid, and free housing, who are able-bodied, yet are committing fraud, thereby fleecing US taxpayers. Many apply for benefits, then return to Cuba to live, and access their account in the US where they are given thousands every month, through welfare programs. Some admit openly that they retire to Florida to access the free handouts that they never paid into, because they get more money and can live a more comfortable life in the US, meanwhile US citizens are being forced to work past retirement age to survive, and going without critical health care, and other necessities.

With Congress considering tapping into our retirement savings, and the massive debt our country is in which will enslave our children, everyone should be insisting that these criminals in Florida have their entitlements immediately stopped, and made to repay what they stole. Why isn't Rubio acting on that? Taxpayers should insist on a review of who is receiving these entitlements. Those healthy men, who overstayed their visas and set a bomb off in Massachusetts were receiving free government assistance. Why? How can this happen? Remember, it is not just your future that is being stolen, it is your family members.

The next time someone attempts to play on your heart strings to get you to open your purse strings, we should all think twice.

Excerpt:

Through the Evangelical Immigration Table (EIT), a project of the Soros-funded National Immigration Forum (NIF), progressive activists such as Sojourners founder, Jim Wallis, are well-funded to lobby for the Gang of 8 legislation that would almost immediately legalize about 11 million immigrants first, with promises of better law enforcement later.

Another 20 million immigrants, mostly family members, are likely to follow within ten years. A $250,000 national radio campaign by the Table features several evangelical leaders reading from Matthew 25, "I was a stranger, and you welcomed me ..."

We should take notice when self-professed atheist billionaire and globalist profiteer, George Soros, is the quiet funder of a curious "Evangelical Immigration Table" campaign to promote yet another massive and mysterious piece of legislation in Congress. This time it is the "Gang of 8" Schumer-Rubio immigration bill (S. 744).

God loves the citizen and the sojourner. He is a God of love and of order, peace, freedom from debt, wise boundaries, and of nations. In some contexts Scripture teaches us to welcome. In other contexts it teaches us to be distinct, set apart, and, at times, to build walls.

Phyllis Schlafly wrote an article stating that "The Gang of Eight Betrays Americans." Gang of Eight Betrays Americans - Eagle Forum

She states: Remember that the Boston Marathon bomber, Tamarlan, and his family, who were all admitted to the U.S. legally, raked in $100,000 in welfare cash and benefits.

She goes on to say: ~Any government program managed by the liberals always includes a “follow the money” segment. The Gang of Eight’s claim to promote “immigrant integration” is a ruse to give taxpayers’ money to leftwing and Islamist activist groups such as CASA, La Raza, MALDEF, and CAIR.

The Gang of Eight is just as unfair and discriminatory to college-educated American citizens as to entry-level job seekers. S.744 creates four new unlimited green-card preferences for aliens: (1) those with a Ph.D. in any field, (2) foreign physicians, (3) foreign students who graduate from a U.S. college with an advanced degree in a STEM (science, technology, engineering or math) subject, and (4) spouses and minor children of the above.

The lobbyists lied to us by reciting the slogan that the “best and the brightest” are foreigners, rather than Americans, and must be imported so we can benefit from their brains and labor. The notion that the best and the brightest are foreigners is false and contemptible, since most of the world’s great inventions and innovations are American.

Senators Charles Grassley (R-IA), Jeff Sessions (R-AL), Ted Cruz (R-TX), and Mike Lee (R-UT) wrote a joint letter to all Senators about the Gang of Eight bill, identifying the following key flaws. S.744 —

  1. provides immediate legalization without securing the border.
  2. rewards criminal aliens, absconders, and deportees and undermines the law.
  3. contains extremely dangerous national security loopholes.
  4. facilitates fraud in our immigration system.
  5. creates no real penalties for illegal immigration and rewards illegals with entitlements.
  6. delays for years the implementation of E-Verify.
  7. does not fix our legal immigration system.
  8. rewards those who have broken our laws with a path to citizenship.
~~~~~~~
This issue must be looked into, because there is evidence that there is fraud within the student DACA programs, which Rep. Grassley brought out a few years ago: Help Save Maryland – DACA Ready Illegals Rape Child in Rockville High School – 2 Suspects Deportable Central Americans
DACA "Dreamers" raped a 13-year old in MD, and another raped a 3-year old.
As Christians who want to hold out the olive branch of kindness to those we feel may be less fortunate, we need to ensure that those who are the recipient of our kindness are those who truly deserve our kindness, and won't turn around and "tear us or our children to pieces." Hasn't this already been done?
"Do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your pearls to pigs. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces. Matthew 7:6
I will address one issue in your post, that concerning the benefits and costs of Cuban immigrants. The article you refer to from the Sun Sentinel, I believe is here. Welfare abuse by Cuban immigrants demands action
It is one from 2016, and though dated it is an editorial and one that should be noticed. However, this is not hard data. Cubans contribute greatly to the Florida economy. Also, new refugees often need welfare. That was certainly the case with E. Germany. In a few years though the economy boomed from their unification. So to discern correctly, you would need the approximate figures for the OVERALL lifetime contributions to Florida, minus the handouts. Instead, you quote anecdotal evidence of a some getting food stamps or welfare payments in Cuba from the US taxpayers.
If I may kindly point out some shortcomings and suggest it is wrong to judge prematurely with really little evidence of the total issue.
Also, we can target lots of other more important fraud in the USA. For instance, the businesses that abused PPI during covid for instance is in the hundreds of billions for fraud. PPP Fraud: Big Numbers, Bigger Numbers to Go
This is not to say that Cubans should not be prosecuted for fraud, just as anyone else, such as those that claim multiple primary residences or overstate net worth to get more favorable loans.
Admittedly, I will go out of my way to show that the Trump Administration is also lacking. First, notice Trump instructed the DOJ to NOT prosecute new cases of the Foreign Corrupt Bribery Act.
So how much will this cost the U.S. taxpayer to simply ignore an important law? Some years it is a billion plus, other years just tens of millions of dollars. I admit the enforcement is rare, but the monetary damages the USA has collected in the past is not chicken feed. Full enforcement of companies paying fines can be found here. SEC.gov | SEC Enforcement Actions: FCPA Cases
(Disclaimer all amounts should be double checked and fines may or may not be necessarily evidence of guilt.) I am not responsible for errors though i strive to be as accurate as possible. Some major fines are listed below.
My point is that anyone can target something and make a case where the USA taxpayer is getting shafted. But again you did not fully make that case against Cuban refugees over their lifetimes. You probably have never lived in South Florida where many of the tradespeople are skillful Cubans that do everything from plumbing to electrical work and everything else. That you offer no idea of the economic contributions they and their families make to the Florida and USA economy. Many too are professionals, or agricultural workers that pick your fruits and vegatables among other things. One of the best M.D.'s I have ever seen was a Cuban American who offered services far below the standard cost. This does not mean that all of them are not guilty, but by all means discern the whole picture. Also, if fraud is an issue then it is up to Congress and the agencies to combat it. One way they do this is that cash assistance for some programs can only be received up to 12 months. https://acf.gov/sites/default/files/documents/orr/Benefits-for-Cuban-Haitian-Entrants.pdf
Now I admit that the companies listed below do much good for America too. Still, I am not sure how Trump justifies that the FCBA be taken off the table and that companies can go ahead and basically bribe at will (Though in some instances they may break another nation's laws).
Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) Monies taken in to the USA government from select companies. (Just a sample).
2025 to 2028- 0/Zilch if Trump DOJ does not enforce FCPA.
I will note too that often foriegn governments are cheated. That these bribes to their officials will often increase the price that nation pays because the company may bribe officials to accept that higher price.
2024
RTX Corporation 224 million paid.
John Deere 10 million
SAP SE 98 million - 59 million going to some African nations that were damaged by their breaking the law.
2023 Albemarle 103 million
2022 Honeywell 81 million
ABB 147 million
2020
Goldman Sachs 1 billion
Novartis 340 million
The Doctors Are Real, but the Sales Pitches Are Frauds
Dr. Robert H. Lustig is an endocrinologist, a professor emeritus of pediatrics at the University of California, San Francisco, and an author of best-selling books on obesity.
He is absolutely not — despite what you might see and hear on Facebook — hawking “liquid pearls” with dubious claims about weight loss. “No injections, no surgery, just results,” he appears to say in one post.
Instead, someone has used artificial intelligence to make a video that imitates him and his voice — all without his knowledge, let alone consent.
The posts are part of a global surge of frauds hijacking the online personas of prominent medical professionals to sell unproven health products or simply to swindle gullible customers, according to the doctors, government officials and researchers who have tracked the problem....
Dr. Gemma Newman, a family physician in Britain and the author of two books about nutrition and health, took to Instagram in April to warn her followers about a video on TikTok that had been altered to make it seem she was promoting capsules of vitamin B12 and 9,000 milligrams of “pure nutrient rich beetroot.”
Dr. Newman was horrified: Her likeness was pushing a supplement, one that could be harmful in high doses, by playing on women’s insecurities — implying the pills could make them “feel desirable, admired and confident.”
The video was so realistic that her own mother believed it was her.
“It’s a double betrayal because my image is there, supporting something that I don’t believe in,” she said.
This is worrisome. Folks really need to be skeptical of claims. I often see claims that a certain drink melts fat for weight loss....yeah, right.
If it seems too good to be true it probably is. Unfortunately scammers appeal to emotion and prey on the weak. Best thing to do is to verify any claim to make sure is true. The good thing about the internet is that it usually will have information that will help catch the scam for those that research the claim.
Not all in Egypt saw the miracles either only those who believed in miracles.
We were taken out of Egypt but Egypt was not taken out of us.
We each have a Pharaoh within who wants to keep us as slaves, therefore,
we must leave our personal Egypt everyday and not let Pharaoh holds us back.
First then are we free.
Cauchy Principal Value - Real or Not Real?
I spent most of my career working with classical mechanics. However, I recently took a job at a new company that requires a lot of fluid mechanics - something I had intentionally avoided earlier in my career.
For me, assuming an incompressible fluid simply means whacking off terms to make the math simpler. I viewed it much the same way in my former job when I did a modal truncation. If pressed, I would have calculated confidence intervals to justify it. I can see, though, why a mathematician would seek formal validation for an approximation. What I hear you saying is that CPV is that validation. Very interesting. Thanks ... Though I can't imagine what would happen if I tried to use CPV to justify incompressibility.
CPV is a computational tool when used in conjunction with Cauchy’s residue theorem it takes singularities out of the equation otherwise as an example normal integration of the potential w(z) = ∫μ/z = μ.log(z) is a problem when the point z=0 is included in the integration range.
In fluid mechanics this is the complex potential for a vortex which has a non-removable singularity at its centre and an infinite velocity.
Physically vortices do not have infinite velocities at their centres so I suppose one can argue CPV with the residue theorem is a validation.
In general a model starts off as an idealized construction because as you state the mathematics is simpler.
Fluid mechanics like many other models such as non-relativistic quantum mechanics is no exception.
Mathematicians and physicists however apply perturbation theory where in the case of fluid mechanics if the complex potential of an ideal incompressible, inviscid and irrotational fluid is w(z) applying a small perturbation ε<<1 , w(z,ε) =wₒ(z)+ϵw₁(z)+(ϵ²/2!)w₂(z)+⋯
where w₁,w₂…..wₙ are the partial derivatives wₙ= ∂ⁿw/∂εⁿ.
These perturbations provide better approximations for real phenomena.
Multiple immigration sweeps reported across Los Angeles, with a tense standoff/protest downtown; SEIU union leader arrested
Stopping people for being brown or speaking Spanish is back on the menu (at least temporarily).
The Supreme Court lifted a restraining order granted by a judge and cleared the way for federal agents to carry out sweeping immigration enforcement operations in Los Angeles.
The restraining order granted July 11 by U.S. District Judge Maame E. Frimpong in Los Angeles [had until now] barred agents from using certain tactics during the raids, such as stopping people based solely on race, language, job or location.
"I think the Supreme Court's decision gives the ability and the authority for ICE agents to go to car washes and construction sites and look at the color of people's skin or their ethnicity, whether or not they're speaking Spanish or speaking in an accent, and to at least have a conversaTion about that person's immigration status," said Prof. Jessica A. Levinson, of Loyola Marymount University.
A lawsuit over the tactics filed by immigrant advocacy groups will now unfold in the courts system. The plaintiffs included U.S. citizens swept up in immigration stops.
A federal district court will hear arguments Sept. 24 on whether to issue a preliminary injunction in the case, according to the ACLU.
Gov. Gavin Newsom referred to deputy White House chief of staff [Stephen Miller] in his statement criticizing the ruling.
"Trump’s hand-picked Supreme Court majority just became the Grand Marshal for a parade of racial terror in Los Angeles," Newsome said. "This isn’t about enforcing immigration laws — it’s about targeting Latinos and anyone who doesn’t look or sound like Stephen Miller’s idea of an American, including U.S. citizens and children, to deliberately harm California’s families and small businesses. Trump's private police force now has a green light to come after your family — and every person is now a target — but we will continue fighting these abhorrent attacks on Californians."
Person speaking a foreign language≠ “probable-cause”, yet it’s moot point if agents are allowed to converse with those they suspect.
Humanitarian Issue- Child Witches Autism Is Not A Spiritual Attack
Hi everyone, I thought that this would be the best forum for this social justice issue. I read some years ago about children in Nigeria who have autism being singled out in communities as being a witch or being possessed by the devil. There are other vulnerable children also who are singled out in this way as well, some may have been born physically disabled etc. This is happening in several diverse countries as well labelling children as child witches. This has happened and happening today in countries such as Angola, Uganda, The Gambia, South Africa, Sierra Leone, The Congo, Ghana, Liberia, Ethiopia and other Sub Saharan countries. This practice grew in South Africa during COVID. This also has been reported in other countries today as far wide as England which if it is experienced is treated as abuse and sometimes it can lead to safeguarding. According to a 2025 Guardian article in the year running to March 2024 alone, the Department for Education (DfE) recorded 2,180 assessments of abuse linked to faith or belief. These people are misusing Christanity often and need to be stopped.
Have any of you had experiences of this?
I will say this that as a Christian and someone who is diagnosed with autism this case does move me this story. I am a Christian and God knows how to manage my autism and has done several times in my life. I was blessed with the Gifts of the Holy Spirit at 17 that has equipped me to cope in life and I am under God's divine protection. Psalm 139 says that God created me for a purpose and that we are all wonderfully and fearfully made.
At 17 I served in the church ministry using my spiritual gifts. This shows that I am part of Jesus kingdom to as an autistic, we can all be members of the Body of Christ regardless of what conditions we have.
I am Christian and also a universal humanitarian.
Any person has the capability for the devil to tempt and use them we know from the New Testament. So, based on this I would argue that it was possible for anyone to be tempted and used by the devil and we all need to use Jesus' teachings to overcome evil. Labelling children wrongly as child witches and wizards based on solely having a condition and often a severe type is grossly wrong. There are though people in our community who are more vulnerable who may experience stigma, lies and injustice because of having a disability. We have to take them into our protective arm as Christians.
Autism is not a spiritual attack and everything God makes is good. God is it at liberty to use an autistic person for his glory as he has done with me and help us to manage our conditions by being consecrated through the Holy Spirit. I cannot deny though God’s power and authority and God is God and has the power to heal anyone at anytime for his plan in their life if he alone desires this or to leave someone as they are, nobody can limit Christ. This is though not a thread to discuss Christ's miracles. The majority of us God will leave as we are and support us to praise him with our blessings.
Remember this-we will be judged according to our conditions by God who created us and any sin post original sin for human kind will be cleansed by Christ for all of us who obey the law. We are all God’s children and are created for a divine purpose (Acts 17:28). "And he marked out their appointed times in history and the boundaries of their lands. God did this so that they would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from any one of us. For in him we live and move and have our being.”
I felt moved and drawn to this topic and I did donate to Patrick School of Languages in Nigeria which is a legitimate school for those who are neurodiverse or have a learning disability and also reached and supported to CRARN which is mentioned in my article. As Christians we are asked to give charitably (Luke 12:33).
What is the situation and how can we help?
There are still stories today of children being labelled as witches who are autistic and who experience other disabilities today. In 2022 in Liberia 22 children (8 boys and 14 girls) were accused of witchcraft.
I return now to Nigeria and examine how the issue of traditional religion fused with Christianity is impacting on a very small proportion of children’s lives in the Akwa Ibom case as I cannot cover every state. Some children are branded as witches or wizards and are effectively exiled from their communities. In this particular case my brief report is on Akwa Ibom, but there are other known states in Nigeria like Cross River where this has been a problem. It is a criminal act today in Nigeria to promote child witch hunting and this was banned in 2008, but things are slow on the ground and moving slowly to improve and we need more help and support to eliminate this illegal act.
During the colonial rule traditional practises were targeted such as traditional religion and sacrificial practices but this has re-emerged in recent times.
There are false ministers who also maybe looking for financial gain in some Pentecostal and Charismatic Christian church's also and some may use traditional practises also that call for animal sacrifice or another ritual ceremony such as the disposal of possessions or marking the child with animal blood. Some may tell family members that their loved one are witches or wizards and this can drive wedges between family members. People can pay sums of money to ministers in hope that they can remove their loved out of this supernatural realm by being used as a witch/demon agent. These children may experience numerous deliverances as well or exorcisms which are not needed which can leave them exhausted and confused an akin to a mere skeleton which may cloud their mind with fear that they have been a tool of the devil and built to be as well. This is scheming and mind games as well. These services may be arranged privately and not during normal service and can become hidden.
This can no doubt cause some family members to reject or abuse their loved ones and drive them away from their home. This situation can be experienced worse due to poverty and disability which can cause some people to end up blaming other people for all their so called bad luck. It is often extremely difficult to be disabled in a lower income country where support can be hard to find or not available. I have seen young people on skateboards and an amputee trying to find income on the streets, at 25 it was a disturbing sight to see for the first time.
A centre called CRARN and an organisation called Stepping Stones Nigeria have emerged to deal with this challenge. There are other special needs schools which have been set up to provide education and humane treatment for individuals meeting this group. The Patrick School of Languages in Nigeria is an example of one such school that has been established form the efforts of a parent whose child experienced discrimination being told they their child was a spiritual attack and they was discriminated.
The governor of Akwa Ibom state passed the Child’s Rights act so that people could be prosecuted that demonise and stigmatise a child in such a manner. This does just not happen to children but I am focusing on children in this blog post. The enactment of the Child’s Right act did not stop all cases from happening as people close ranks to make it harder for them to be made accountable to the law. There was also a case in the UK in 2006 when a child’s body was found in the River Thames. The police named this child ‘Adam’ police did believe that this murder was ritual related.
The children that are abandoned by their parents in such centres I do think that it would be beneficial if such parents were counselled in a group by a minister over a few days in faith that can point out to the flaws in their thinking. Their beliefs do need to be challenged. Returning to the community might be difficult and if there is a head of a village they should try in mediate in this situation as they are normally respected in their communities. Also if these children cannot return home from fear of attack from other members in the village I would suggest that relocating them might help to unite parent and child. Also, banning such films that may encourage this sort of abuse I do believe is also a good idea.
I have given my life to life to Christ who I work voluntary for by documenting my life experience with my faith online and also by working as a hospital chaplain volunteer and activity coordinator once a week in a hospital and also do voluntary gardening at church-this topic is important to me. I do not have children of my own. I will not have children of my own, let’s see what we can do to help. If you feel moved by this topic-why not help them.
I hit my button again and donated today for the second timd to CRARN which link you will find below. God has said we should be involved in justice and humanitarian issues and dismantling them. One of the five missons of the church is to support eradicating injustice in humanity.
Let’s see what we can do to help. If you feel moved by this topic-why not help them.
This needs to be stopped.
This story moved me, with being diagnosed myself and also have had some poor treatment growing up being taken all over and people pulling the fast one on my mum to part lots of money for prayer for my anorexia etc. I have heard of forced treatment spiritually for other conditions too at church. in the past. This has become hidden, and is another discussion.
I have been the victim of religious and spiritual abuse in my life.
This culture of abuse needs to be stopped. There is a way out of religious abuse and you can seek support.
In Nigeria children with autism have more neurological issues with it.
Take Note of Their Threats
“‘Why did the Gentiles rage,
And the peoples devise futile things?
The kings of the earth took their stand,
And the rulers were gathered together
Against the Lord and against His Christ.’
“For truly in this city there were gathered together against Your holy servant Jesus, whom You anointed, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, along with the Gentiles and the peoples of Israel, to do whatever Your hand and Your purpose predestined to occur. And now, Lord, take note of their threats, and grant that Your bond-servants may speak Your word with all confidence, while You extend Your hand to heal, and signs and wonders take place through the name of Your holy servant Jesus.” (Acts 4:25-30 NASB1995)
When you speak the truth that people do not want to hear, you will face opposition. And Jesus Christ definitely spoke the truth of the gospel of our salvation that the many did not want to hear, and they killed him for it. For he did not teach this “easy believism” which so many are passing off as the gospel today. He did not teach faith in Jesus Christ that is lip service only with no requirements for us to die to sin and to walk in obedience to his commands in holy living. He did not lie to the people to appease their flesh.
Jesus Christ taught that to come to him we must deny self, take up our cross daily (die daily to sin), and follow (obey) him. For if we hold on to living in sin and for self, we will lose our lives for eternity. But if we deny self, die daily to sin, by the Spirit, and we walk in obedience to our Lord and to his commands, in his power, then we have eternal life with God. For not everyone who calls him “Lord” will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one DOING (obeying) the will of God (see Luke 9:23-26; Matthew 7:21-23).
The rulers and the teachers of the Scriptures, and the people of prominence within the temple of God did not like Jesus and who he said he was and what he preached to the people. They did not like what he did and what he said, and so they made it their aim to try to trip him up with his words so they would have cause to discredit him and to accuse him of wrongdoing. So they harassed him continually. And ultimately they plotted and carried out his death with the cooperation and the assistance of the Roman authority.
And if we are teaching and preaching the message of the gospel of Christ in the way in which Jesus taught it, and that his New Testament apostles taught it, as taught in its correct biblical context, then we also will be faced with opposition and with persecution, rejection, false accusations, and perhaps even death, depending upon where we live and what the religious teachings are. And we may be opposed by pastors who are teaching the lies of Satan, and by people who will try to trip us up with our words.
But no matter what opposition we face, or what charges are brought against us, or how many friends or family members desert us or keep a distance from us, because of our testimonies for Christ and for his gospel, God is still sovereign and in control over our lives, and he has allowed us to suffer in this way to mature us in Christ in our walks of faith in obedience to him. And he has a plan for how he will use it in our lives, and then how he will use us in the lives of other people because of what we have had to endure.
So, we just need to pray that the Lord will continue to give us the words to speak, and the confidence and the boldness to keep speaking the truth in opposition to the lies which are so rapidly spreading and so largely are being accepted by what appears to be the majority of those professing faith in Jesus Christ. We should pray for much courage in the face of fierce opposition so that we do not lose heart. And we must keep moving forward in serving our Lord in being his witnesses in bringing the truth to the people.
For by God-gifted faith in Jesus Christ, which is not of our own doing, we are crucified with Christ in death to sin and raised with Christ to walk in newness of life in him, no longer to live as slaves to sin but as slaves to righteousness in walks of obedience to God’s commands. We are no longer to permit sin to reign in our mortal bodies to make us obey its desires. For if sin is what we obey, it results in death. But if obedience to God is what we obey, it results in sanctification, and its end is eternal life with God (see Romans 6:1-23).
As the Deer
By Martin J. Nystrom
Based off Psalm 42:1
As the deer panteth for the water
So my soul longeth after You
You alone are my heart's desire
And I long to worship You
You alone are my strength, my shield
To You alone may my spirit yield
You alone are my heart's desire
And I long to worship You
How Catholics Can Regain a Proper Sense of Tradition
True Catholic tradition means handing on God’s Revelation in Christ — not freezing it in one age, nor reshaping it to suit modern tastes.
Every Catholic must be, by definition, some version of a “traditionalist.” Our faith is grounded in the absolute truth of God’s Revelation in Christ and that Christ founded his Church upon apostolic authority.
As we read in John’s Gospel, after his resurrection, Jesus appeared to the Apostles and said, “As the Father has sent me, even so I send you.” He then breathed on them, imparting the Holy Spirit, and gave to them the power of binding and loosing sins (John 20:21-22).
Therefore, the mission of those Apostles was not to invent a new revelation of their own, but to preserve and “hand on” (the literal meaning of the word “tradition”) God’s Revelation down through time. This has many ramifications and nuances, but one thing is clear: the Church’s Tradition, composed of many layers, is one of the mediations of Revelation that makes the historical Christ present in the here and now. In word, teaching and sacrament, the Holy Spirit is with the Church, guiding it and making the risen Christ available to all with the same full force as with those first Apostles who knew him personally.
Thus, the Church’s tradition is that which unlocks Christ from being a prisoner of the first century, important in his time, but now simply one more “great man” from the past and ever receding into the fog of a long-ago history. Therefore, no Catholic should ever assert that we are now free to hit a reset button and to treat this Tradition as a plastic and malleable human creation that we are now free to reshape as we see fit. In particular, no Catholic should ever claim, as happens so often these days, that Vatican II represented a kind of “year zero” in the Church, which represented a rupture with Tradition and now grants us permission to continue the revolution of remaking the Church — and thus remaking Jesus himself — into the sock puppet of modern secularity.
Do you find that surprising? We’ve been steadily moving towards tribalism for some time and they’re not the only group. A lot of people are focusing on issues confronting their communities and giving less attention to others. That’s why they’re silent.
Yes, while some are being kidnapped from their work with their families still waiting for them at home, or are facing an imperialist invasion of their country, others had their favorite restaurant change its logo.
