  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The End Time Puzzle

I believe the true church of our Lord Jesus Christ is the Catholic Church; otherwise, I would not be a member of it. :)
Hi Jan001, I think the most important thing, no matter what denomination, is to believe in the gospel of salvation for atonement for our sins.

Lepanto Institute calls for Pope Leo to laicize New Mexico priest over homosexual ‘domestic partnership’

The Lepanto Institute has formally requested that Pope Leo laicize and suspend from ministry a New Mexico priest who entered into a homosexual “domestic partnership” for ten years during a 28-year leave of absence from the priesthood.

Lepanto sent a copy of its August 2025 report on Fr. Steve Rosera, of the Archdiocese of Santa Fe, New Mexico, along with the notarized “divorce” documents of Rosera and his “partner,” issued by the Superior Court of California for the County of San Francisco, to the Papal Nuncio to the United States, His Eminence, Christophe Cardinal Pierre. This followed a recent in-person conversation with the Nuncio in which Lepanto brought the scandal to his attention in Washington, D.C.

Lepanto requested of the Nuncio that the report and court documents be delivered in person, via the Apostolic pouch, to Pope Leo XIV, with the request that the Holy Father impose the canonical penalties incurred by a priest for grave violations of the vow of celibacy: suspension from ministry and laicization.

The request comes after more than six months of inaction on the part of Rosera’s immediate superior, Archbishop John Wester, following Lepanto’s exposure of the scandal through the publication of the court’s divorce documents. In fact, at the end of September of last year, the Archdiocese of Santa Fe held a convocation of priests, and in the presence of 80 priests a brave priest stood up and challenged Abp. John Wester about our story on Fr. Steve Rosera. A priest who was there sent us the following statement:

Prince George bishop calls for prayer, penance, saying shooting ‘has traumatized us all’

Prince George bishop calls for prayer, penance, saying shooting ‘has traumatized us all’

At least 10 people are dead, including young teens, and many are wounded in a mass shooting in northern British Columbia, Canada.

On the feast of Our Lady of Lourdes — the Church’s World Day of the Sick — Prince George Bishop Stephen Jensen called people of faith to prayer and penance following Tuesday’s mass school shooting in Tumbler Ridge in northern British Columbia, Canada.

“The unimaginable tragedy that struck the community of Tumbler Ridge yesterday has traumatized us all,” Jensen said in a statement released Wednesday morning.
At least 10 people were confirmed dead, with dozens injured, after a mass shooting at Tumbler Ridge Secondary School and a nearby residence.

Royal Canadian Mounted Police said the suspected shooter, believed to be an 18-year-old woman, was found dead from an apparent self-inflicted wound. Lockdowns and an emergency alert were lifted as officers secured the town and moved students to safety. Investigators continue examining connections between the shooter and victims.

Female wrestler says male opponent sexually assaulted her, school delayed reporting incident

High school wrestler Kallie Keeler just wanted the match to end after she was recently forced to compete against a male during a girls' wrestling competition, alleging that her opponent sexually assaulted her when he pinned her to the ground.

The 16-year-old, a sophomore at Rogers High School in Washington state, said during an interview with unDivided host Brandi Kruse that she didn’t even know before the match that her opponent was male.

During the match against a wrestler from Emerald Ridge High School, which took place on Dec. 6, 2025, Keeler’s opponent reportedly "reached between her legs and, very forcefully for several seconds, put their fingers in her private area,” Kruse recapped.

You've got too much time on your hands...
This site deserves some comic relief particularly after reading the rather disgusting justifications of shooting people based on political beliefs.
As an Australian living rurally I can legally own firearms to shoot vermin not people, carrying arms in public whether concealed or not is an anathema to most people living in countries where gun ownership is not a God given right.
Gun violence has become normalised like driving a car which can lead to collateral damage in the form of death and injury.

One Million Moms urges Christians to boycott Bad Bunny’s ‘Queer Icons’ Super Bowl halftime show

I've never heard of Bad Bunny until today.

I looked up the halftime show (I don't watch much football). I'm familiar with Hispanic culture, having lived in Orlando much of my life: the halftime performance looked quite well done, and not overly sexualized.

I live around alot of Puerto Rican people. Some are culturally conservative, but that doesn't necessarily play out into culture war politics, much less the kind of prudish sensibilities of Anglo culture. For many Latino people, family ties are more important than even religious ideology, people aren't going to severe relationships with family just because their children might be gay or lesbian, and their faith entails a simple, non-ideological response rooted in relational responsibility. When you come from countries or regions that are used to economic and institutional precarity, putting principles ahead of people is a good way to end up outside any kind of circle of care.
Interesting. I think in many Latino and Hispanic families who come from conservative or highly religious cultures would feel pain and embarrassment if their child came out as LGBT. Maybe the younger generation is changing? Who knows?

Our Lady of Lourdes

I visited Lourdes back in 1998. It was awesome!

Today I watched, "My Name Is Bernadette," on Tubi. It was in French but excellent and showed the scenes when
Bernadette worked serving the ill at the convent in Nevers, where she herself died.

Bernadette's humility always impressed me.
