  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

MS-13 Gang Member Kilmar Abrego Garcia to be Deported to African Country of Eswatini

No.
1) He could not return to El Salvador due to endagerment of his life....a court agreed with him.

The claim is that he is in fear of torture in over 20 countries; or at least that is the story now.

1757557859518.png

That's a bit extreme for a dad who loves puppies and reads to his grandmother.

Maybe it has something to do with rival gangs; as he is a MS13 gang member.

1757556909696.png

Oh. but wait...He claims that he is not a gang member; and gang members never lie to authorities. :holy:

He was willing to go to Costa Rica,
ORLY?

1757557405966.png

You don't think that the cartels are sophisticated enough to track him down anywhere in the world, once he is separated from his gang, even in a Federal prison?

If we go with the argument that we need to keep him safe with his fellow gang members; that means that we need to keep all the gang members together, right here at home; so that they are all equally protected.

...or we could have just sent him to El Salvador.

Charlie Kirk has Been Shot at Utah Valley University

MSNBC OUTDOES ITSELF!

In some truly Pulitzer Prize deserving reporting, we learn that:

1. the shooter may have been a Kirk supporter firing off a gun in happy celebration of Kirk being there;

2. Trump may use this assassination as justification for sending troops into Orem, Utah as he did in D.C.; and

3. if you have awful thoughts and express them with awful words you should expect awful actions.

Charlie Kirk has Been Shot at Utah Valley University

Well, now I’m fascinated because CS Lewis and Tolkien were both big proponents of the idea there’s what you know and you believe, then there’s how life shapes what you now know and believe as a result. “Til We Have Faces” was basically entirely about that shift, and it was kind of genre-defining for insight and character growth through awareness. I find it near impossible to believe that CS Lewis had a term for it that was so negative that it can’t be shared on the forum, especially since he was a big proponent of the philosophy in basically all of his books in one way or another.

Are you maybe confusing the words “apathy” and “empathy?” So when I say I have empathy, but that takes a whole new relevance when I see it up close and personally, you think I’m saying I don’t care until it happens to me? Because that’s certainly not what I’m getting at…
Lacking empathy, and realizing you were wrong about something you previously believed, are two different things.

He was one of the few people who give anyone who was opposed to him ample opportunity to challenge him through debate.

I agree. If people no longer feel safe to exchange ideas and engage in debate, America is done.

Who is the Antichrist?

Randy, this is the eschatology forum. What is the meaning of "eschatology" ?
If you want to limit all biblical prophecy to eschatology then I suppose you don't want any discussion as to whether your interpretations *belong* in the eschatology forum? Go ahead and apply Jesus' 1st Coming to the 2nd Coming, and forbid anybody from questioning that "because it's the eschatology forum." Is that where you want to hide?

I'm very much interested in the eschatology of the Bible. But I need freedom to explain what prophecies belong to eschatology and what don't. Otherwise, only you get to decide what is acceptable as "eschatology" and what isn't.

I could easily say, for that matter, that use of your version of Dan 8 does *not* belong in an eschatology forum. Do you really want to go there?

So Much Anger

I don't even know where to start or where I'm going so this may be a convoluted mess. But if you don't know, I didn't have any friends growing up (except in rare, short circumstances). And I never really felt connected or close to anyone. But today when I heard Charlie Kirk had been assassinated it hurt. I've watched Charlie's debates for years and I know it's not reciprocal or anything but I felt close, like he was a friend.

And when I said it hurt, it's what I imagine losing a friend would feel like. But all I feel now is anger, a very strong anger towards the person that did it, towards the media, l that political group, and all the people that caused this. I'm struggling with my belief in God as well, and this didn't help that fact either. I was ready to shout and scream at Him for letting it happen.

And I know according to what Jesus taught that anger isn't the right thing. And even Charlie Kirk would not want people to respond with anger. But I just feel so much anger and I can't help it.

Trump dispenses with trials, orders military strike on alleged Venezuelan drug-trafficking boat (Now up to 2, 3, 4...)

While Trump is immune, Hegseth and those who gave the orders are not.....
First: Those cases would head pretty quickly to the Supreme Court, which has already ruled that the president can order whatever he wants.
Second: Haven't you ever heard or presidential pardons?

Who is the Antichrist?

You are arguing what you have yet to prove. On what basis do you proclaim that "their use" of "time of the end" is the same of "our use" of "time of the end?" In language, words and phrases can be exactly the same and yet be used differently, depending on the context.

Well, I just proved to you that the context was the Greek Kingdom, leading to Antiochus 4 and his Reign of Terror. The "time of the end" was the time when the Greek Kingdom would come to an end and when Antiochus 4 would come to an end, particularly in regard to the persecution of the Jewish People by Antiochus.

You just ignored everything I showed you about the context for this particular use of "time of the end." And then you flip to Dan 12, another chapter, and claim that the something there refers to the "time of the end," or the last days of this present age.

Quite frankly, I read it quite differently, and more in sync with what Dan 8 said. In Dan 12 we have two different prophecies being referred to. Daniel was confused about those two major prophecies and asked about them.

1) In Dan 12.7 Daniel is told that the 3.5 years, referred to in Dan 7, will be the "fulfillment" of the things just mentioned, which included the resurrection at the end of the age. That did indeed have to do with the end of the present age.
2) But in Dan 12.11-12 Daniel is told how long it will be before the Reign of Terror by Antiochus 4 will come to an end. It will be 1290 days, with an additional space of time before people in Israel actually hear the news.

These are two separate prophecies, one having to do with Antichrist's 1260 days, and the other having to do with Antiochus' 1290 days. We should not conflate them.

And neither one determines how "time of the end" would apply in Dan 8, where the context was the Reign of Antiochus. The "time of the end" there would refer to the time of the end of Antiochus.

Again, "time of the end" is a phrase or term that applies in the particular context in which it is given. It is a literary fallacy to apply the same term the same way in different contexts.

The "time of the end" can refer to the time of the end of the age, when the resurrection takes place. Or, it can refer to the end of Antiochus' persecution of the Jewish People.

Dan 8 referred explicitly to Antiochus 4. You are not acknowledging that--just asserting your beliefs, regardless of the evidence.

Spying on husband

Hello, I hope I'm posting in the right place. I'm experiencing some problems with trusting my husband. I have heard him saying good morning beautiful at night when he thinks I'm sleeping, He stands in the kitchen and makes weird faces at his phone and mouths words so that he's silent but still conveying words, has said in his 'sleep' ... Don't tell my wife but I think I love you..
After experiencing those things, I decided to record him sometimes when I'm not around. I told him I heard more than he knew I did and I knew more than he thought I knew. He knew that if I heard a woman's voice that I would freak out. So, as I listen to the recordings most of the time you can't hear another voice but on occasion I hear a thank you when he tells her that she looks pretty!, or things like that. I have confronted him 3 times about this and he just gets mad. He always says that he didn't do it and I'm playing games. I feel like I'm crazy because he says I'm hearing things that aren't there. He won't listen to the recordings. My question is... If I spy on his phone, would that be wrong? I feel that somehow this will allow me to catch him in a lie and I feel that I need to prove to myself that I'm not crazy.
No , you deserve to know if you have a faithful husband.
Blessings

Not all skiing is downhill with expensive lifts. One can try cross country and have a blast. It is much better exercise and much less expensive.
Its funny you say that cause I actually have a set of country skis and ski ...albeit infrequently. I do enjoy it foe thr most part but I have 0 downhill hill control so it feels limiting

What the Navy did made them no more 'murders than when a soldier killed an isis terrorist in Northern Iraq.

The US Is not at war with Tren de Aragua. There is no "self-defense" argument to be made (40' boat with 11 people is a threat to the U.S.? Nor is Tren de Aragua associated with terrorists groups that attacked the U.S. on and after 9/11 ( 2001 Authorization for the Use of Military Force (AUMF).

As of today, the admininstration has yet to offer a viable legal justification.

I love this. Thanks for sharing.

I don't ski but I kinda disagree about skiing. For the amount of money you spend on the mountains here in alberta and the amount of time going downhill? I personally dont' know if it's worth it. It's funy of course.

I am trying to start fresh in life, but I am experiencing immense obstacles

Thank you for your continued prayers, everyone! Things are going pretty well for me, so far. I just started physical therapy for my torn meniscus in my left knee today so that's got me feeling hopeful that I'll be able to start going on longer walks here soon.
Continued prayers!

How is it that the Catholic Church is evil?

We were told grievous wolves would come in not sparing flock Acts 20:29-31. I never quoted anyone but what God said is in His ark. Its up to us to beleive or not beleive His written word. Its our free will and in Jesus's time, it will all get sorted out.

Be well.
You have not said the word of God. You have said what you say the word of God says which is really not God but you and your interpretation .

Deep down you know it is true, but you can’t admit it, because your whole belief system on which you based your life falls apart
I know it is hard to face the truth. I had to come to grips with it myself. It is humiliating, I know, but God does not bow to us. He tells us that to follow Him we must join Him in death. He gives us the benefit of a bloodless death, but we still must deny our very selves in order to follow Him

We read scripture that the enmity is between Satan and the woman. Satan hates her with all his fury. When we deny her or speak ill of her or drag her down to our level, we do not do God’s work. We take the side of her enemy
Her name is unique in all of scripture, she is not just one who is full of grace. It is her name, Kecharitomene. She has all that God can give, and there is no stain in her. To say that there is, does not insult her, it insults the grace of God and counts it as an unclean thing. Yet she is your mother and stands ready to help at any time.

Do you need evidence? Consider Our Lady of Guadalupe. Mary appeared to Juan Diego in the 16th century. The Bishop did not believe him and asked for a sign. Juan brought him flowers in the dead of winter when they should not be, and when he dropped the flowers at the Bishop’s feet, on his tilma was an image of Our Lady
That tilma is still able to be viewed in Mexico City today. It has been studied scientifically more than anything else, and its existence cannot be explained by natural means. The eyes in the image are arranged as living eyes, the reflection in the pupil shows the Bishop and many other people they were there when Jaun Diego first showed the image. The tilma is made from material that should have degraded long ago, but it is here 500 years later and survived fire and acid spills. The stars around Our Lady are as the constellations in the 1500s when Juan Diego was there. The stars are also arranged as musical notes which have been analyzed to provide the most beautiful music. All these are amazing
The greatest sign is that after this miracle, the Aztec empire was a people strongly tied to ritual human sacrifice. They were convinced to stop worshiping their false gods and worship our Lord Jesus Christ who sacrificed Himself for all. The miracle is above reproach. We know it is supernatural. Can it not be of God? Jesus tells us that Satan cannot cast out Satan as a house divided against itself cannot stand. Satan would not tolerate cession of human sacrifice to his honor in favor of unbloody sacrifice in honor of Our Lord.
The miracle is there for you to see, but you cannot look at it, as you would see the truth but you’d close your eyes. If you did see it, you would either have to accept it or say it is of the devil, but if you do that, you would risk blasphemy of the Holy Spirit. Take a look at the gifts your mother has given you, what’s to lose except your pride?

What good is it to ask for a sign and then refuse to look at it?

Well, I’m that species of human, so I’m glad to meet you. I’m an extremely empathetic person, but I can list probably a dozen things that I didn’t realize the true weight or concern of until I myself or somebody I love went though it. Moving from the abstract in the cheap seats to front row of a very concrete circus provides a lot of perspective. I’m not at all ashamed to say there are opinions I held quite strongly until experiencing a topic in the real as opposed to the hypothetical.

To be frank, I can’t think of anybody who doesn’t get a degree of perspective when an idea goes from being a “what would I do if?” to a “what am I going to do now.”

It sounds like you're talking about some species of human I don't believe I've ever met. Like people who never think about things. Like a man whose daughter was killed last week by a drunk driver and says "I never thought drinking and driving was a big deal, but now I'm really against it!"
