Jewish Israel is a Misnomer

In Romans 11:28-32: it does say some of the Jewish people will receive God's mercy, despite their continued rejection of Jesus. Romans 9:27
There will be two main criteria for this:
1/ They must be actual members of the House of Judah. Not those who call themselves Jews, but are not. Revelation 2:9
2/ They must show true repentance and remorse, as Jeremiah 12:14-16 tells us:..... I will have pity on them [Judah] and bring them back to their Land, if they learn the ways of My People, [Christians] and swear allegiance to My Name.
Note; the remnant Jews will be so ashamed of their errors, they will keep very quiet. Ezekiel 16:63

However; the main Christian peoples who will go to live in all of the holy Land after the Lord has cleared and cleansed it, Deuteronomy 32:34-43, Revelation 6:12, will be descendants of the ten Northern tribes; the House of Israel, joined by every faithful Christian from every race, nation and language. Isaiah 66:18b-21, Revelation 5:9-10
This will fulfil God's promise to the Patriarchs, that their descendants will inherit the holy Land. Ezekiel 34:11-16, Romans 9:24-26

Trump Demands Washington Commanders Return To Original Name 'Immediately'

There was a time when most black people didn't complain about segregation. There was a time when Jewish people didn't complain about being excluded from clubs and events. "That's just the way it is."

Which doesn't mean they weren't offended. How about just calling people what they want to be called?

House Passes Trump-Backed Rescissions Package Slashing $9 BILLION in Bloated Spending — FOREIGN AID, NPR, and PBS on the Chopping Block — Two Republic

Why would you await that. You said you are a former Christian. The Bible is just a book to you.
Just a book? Until the advent of the cloud, books were where human knowledge and experience and beliefs were preserved. In my worldview they are not dismissed as "just a book".

As a Christian it was the Sermon on the Mount that spoke to me with greatest power and conviction. What I see in the actions and declarations of many Christians in the USA is the antithesis of those words. Many of the posts on this forum reek with same the hypocrisy and disregard for human dignity.

Remove the Sermon of the Mount from the Bible, which is symbolically what those ignoring it are doing, and you take away the heart of it.

I know you'd like to think that, but many of us do. Others are satisfied with having it taken out of our taxes, like an automatic periodic contribution to the United way. What's wrong with that?
It’s the ‘screw you, I got mine’ American Dream.

I guess you never have seen swollen bellies of infants, and primary school kids. It is real in some places. I doubt much of this reached them though. I can say that corn subsidies for making ethanol gas sure is causing many to starve.
How sad that on this a Christian website, obvious sarcasm is taken at face value.

The man with the legion?

Where do we find such a thing as the Holy Spirit being "bound up inside of Jesus" until He died? When Jesus was baptized by John, we read:

“And the Holy Spirit descended in bodily form like a dove upon Him, and a voice came from heaven which said, “You are My beloved Son; in You I am well pleased.”” (Lu 3:22 NKJV)

The Holy Spirit clearly wasn't bound up anywhere.
God the Holy Spirit chose to inhabit Jesus (as was part of the plan) (and the rest of the plan that would follow afterward) until the day Jesus died. When exactly this took place I am not aware of, or cannot say, but it was sometime between Jesus birth (or maybe at or from conception maybe) but most definitely happened by the time of Jesus baptism, and lasted until the day that Jesus died. Until then, he was bound or was restricted to only what he could do through Jesus until that time, but not after that though, etc, after that he had the promise of being able to be in everybody all at the same time, etc. This was the very first time God the Holy Spirit ever chose to do this with anybody, etc. But it was all part of "the plan" until Jesus died. All spirits are temporarily bound when they first choose to enter a man, or a human being, as they become restricted to only what they can do or make happen through/with that person temporarily, etc. This is why many will only try to exert their influence from the outside at first most of the time until it maybe becomes necessary to be on the inside, and then they will try, etc. But they know the rules and risks of trying to get on the inside. Those trying to get on the inside of someone for fun, could all of the sudden find themselves in a temporary torment sometimes, until that person dies.

God Bless.

Another look at the moon landing.

That little girl was asking what so many have asked in the past. Buzz's answer ' I think I know why, b/c we never went there'.
That's not what he said. He said "we didn't go there", and from the context it's obvious (to all but conspiracy theorists) that he meant "we didn't go back there.". In other words, we haven't been back, or returned. He also said if we want to know for the future we have to look at why it stopped in the past.

When you first produced this clip, a few months ago, I pointed out to you that the very next clip - on my phone anyway - showed an interview with Buzz which began with the words "I'm Buzz Aldrin and I was a pilot on Apollo 11." There are several such clips on YouTube - although the conspiracy theorists clips get more publicity.

It's like when David Jenkins, Bishop of Durham, said years ago, "the resurrection is MORE than just a conjuring trick with bones". (I read his full sermon in the Church of England newspaper.)
Headline the next day, "Bishop says resurrection is a conjuring trick with bones". This lead to letters, articles and cartoons about doubting bishops, how do they get to stay in the job, etc ?
David Jenkins wasn't perfect and he probably said a lot of things I disagreed with. "The resurrection didn't happen", was not one of them, but hey, it sold newspapers.

No person can come to Christ by their own freewill !

Then you have a stupid god. He knew if he created a person that the person was going to sin up all grace and die and go to hell for their sins, yet with his dumb self, he created him anyway, knowing no matter how many opportunities he gives him, he is going to spurn them away and die a fool. Does that sound like a all wise God to you, even a loving God ? Sounds like a fool
sorry to jump in and interrupt your conversation with the other poster..but Romans 9:20-22 will address your point.

The man with the legion?

That's because, at that time, God the Holy Spirit (YHWH in the OT) was bound up inside of Jesus for a time, and could not get released until Jesus died.
Where do we find such a thing as the Holy Spirit being "bound up inside of Jesus" until He died? When Jesus was baptized by John, we read:

Indeed, with the tax cuts Americans should be able to choose the organizations to donate to that will best help those in need instead of organizations loyal to the Democrats.
If we are talking about the current new tax cuts, the cuts to government programs elsewhere though have made it a net loss for all but, iirc, the top 10% of income earners (may have been top 20%, I would need to check again), so it's not like most people have more money to put into charity, but less.

How do we set aside the grace of God?

Galatians 2:21 I do not set aside the grace of God; for if righteousness comes through the law, then Christ died in vain." NKJV

What does Paul mean by “set aside the grace of God?” It definitely has something to do with the law. Paul stated “If righteousness came through the law Christ died in vain.”

1 Corinthians 6:12 All things are lawful for me, but all things are not helpful. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any. 13 Foods for the stomach and the stomach for foods, but God will destroy both it and them. Now the body is not for sexual immorality but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body. 14 And God both raised up the Lord and will also raise us up by His power. NKJV

As Paul states in the above everything is legal for those who are in Christ. Romans 7 God considers everyone in Jesus to have died with Him. Being dead means that we are not under the law as dead people cannot sin. Therefore, God will not impute sin to those in Jesus. We have liberty to sin.

Galatians 5:13 For you, brethren, have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. 14 For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: "You shall love your neighbor as yourself." NKJV

Paul warns us about using our liberty as an opportunity to please our flesh. Then he cites that all the law is fulfilled by the OT law of “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” Does this mean that we have to “Love our neighbor as our self” to be saved by Jesus? No!

Romans 3:21 But now the righteousness of God apart from the law is revealed, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, 22 even the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all who believe. NKJV

Our righteousness is apart from the law. That means that our righteousness has nothing to do with our doing any OT law.

Romans 4:5 But to him who does not work but believes on Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is accounted for righteousness, 6 just as David also describes the blessedness of the man to whom God imputes righteousness apart from works: NKJV

God imputes righteousness apart from doing any works. The above scripture is a 2-edged sword. For those who do not work their faith is accounted for righteousness. It also means that if one is doing a work to be righteous, they do not believe in Jesus. If anyone believes in Jesus, then that belief in Jesus is their righteousness. How could they believe Jesus makes them righteous, if they are working to be righteous?

Romans 10:4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes. NKJV

Again, the above scripture is a two-edged sword. If anyone believes in Jesus, He is the end of the law for righteousness. That means if you believe in Jesus you do not get any righteousness by doing works of the law.

It also means if anyone is doing works to be righteous, they do not believe that Jesus makes them righteous. If Jesus made them righteous then why do they need to work to be righteous?

That is what Paul means by setting aside grace. If anyone does any work to be righteous, they are setting aside the grace of God. God gives us grace so we do not need to work for righteousness.

Galatians 5:1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage. 2 Indeed I, Paul, say to you that if you become circumcised, Christ will profit you nothing. 3 And I testify again to every man who becomes circumcised that he is a debtor to keep the whole law. 4 You have become estranged from Christ, you who attempt to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace. 5 For we through the Spirit eagerly wait for the hope of righteousness by faith. 6 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but faith working through love. NKJV

Some Galatians had been convinced they had to trust in circumcision. Circumcision has noting to do with righteousness.(It was a requirement for those in the first covenant) If they got circumcised, believing they needed to for salvation, they would set aside the grace of God. If anyone sets grace aside the only way left to be righteous is by doing the law. We know no one will be made righteous by the law because no one except Jesus could do the law without committing sin.

Then why did Paul tell us to “love our neighbor as our self” to be righteous?

Paul has just gone through several chapters explaining how faith in Jesus is so much better than being under the law, he is not going to now tell the Galatians to do the law, the law is one entire unit not separate parts. He is telling them not to use the liberty in Jesus to satisfy their lusts. We do not lose salvation if we die under discipline, which if we use our liberty to satisfy our lusts we will die under discipline.

Galatians 2:20(a) I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; (b) and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. 21 I do not set aside the grace of God; for if righteousness comes through the law, then Christ died in vain." NKJV

The answer to why Paul told us, to love our neighbor as ourselves, is in the above scriptures. Verse 20 b the life that Paul lived in the flesh he lived by faith in Jesus. That is the way all the sons of God live.

Romans 8:12 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors — not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. 13 For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. 14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. NKJV

By accepting discipline, we prove that we are sons of God. Verse 12 we should not live to satisfy the flesh. If we live to the flesh we will die physically. Any of the elect (remember David and Bathsheba) could fall into temptation and quit walking in the Spirit. If this happens Jesus will start discipline, ending in our physical death , if we do not repent. This is what Paul meant by the life he now lives he lives by faith in Jesus. Paul had faith that if he continued to obey Jesus' commands that he would accomplish everything God had planned for him to do. Romans 13:8 We are under the law of love. If we fulfill the law of love we will continue to live physically. If we stop fulfilling the law of love we will die and go to heaven under discipline. 1Corinthians 11:32 God disciplines us so we will not be judged by the world.
Setting aside grace would be to resist the work and life of the Holy Spirit in us. And that would mean that we would return to the flesh, to unrighteousness. The righteousness that is apart from the law, that the law and the prophets testify to, is real righteousness, wrought by grace.
“For if, by the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive God’s abundant provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ!” Rom 5:17

We must not set that aside:
When you were slaves to sin, you were free from the control of righteousness. What benefit did you reap at that time from the things you are now ashamed of? Those things result in death! But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life.” Rom 6:20-22

Therefore, brothers and sisters, we have an obligation—but it is not to the flesh, to live according to it. For if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live. For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God.” Rom 8:12-14

Can You Determine the Will of God for Specific Events in Your Life?

We know God's will for our life in the broad sense, of course:

1 Timothy 2:3–4 (ESV)
“This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.”

2 Peter 3:9 (NIV)
“The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise... He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.”

1 Thessalonians 4:3 (NIV)
“It is God’s will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality.”

Romans 12:1–2 (ESV)
“...present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God... Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”

1 Thessalonians 5:16–18 (NIV)
“Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”

1 Peter 2:15 (ESV)
“For this is the will of God, that by doing good you should put to silence the ignorance of foolish people.”

Ephesians 2:10 (NIV)
“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”

Micah 6:8 (NIV)
“He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.”

John 13:34–35 (NIV)
“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples...”

Matthew 22:37–39 (ESV)
“‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

BUT, WHAT ABOUT SPECIFIC EVENTS IN YOUR LIFE?

Specific daily events that are trivial compared to the concepts and commands in these Bible verses.

For example, if my car broke down as I was going to the coffee shop to get coffee, am I right in saying it was God's will for the car to break down?

What are your thoughts, guys?
I don't think Gods Will works on that level. It may be just circumstances you find yourself in. Or something you neglected such as servicing the car.

If its a case that you cannot afford a good car or to maintain the current one then that is also I think a matter of circumstance to some degree. But also what priorities you place on having a car.

But in saying that I think we can be wise and navigate the system without becoming to fixed on materialism. By doing some research and getting the cheapest and best car fo its purpose. But if you can afford it then a good car with servicing will minimize this.

If it just happens to be a glitch of some sort in the car that just happened then well thats life sometimes and we if anything are tested to handle theses setbacks which come with lifes unpredictability. Or that we may be aware that we are in a difficult situation and ask God to help us through it.

Basically Christ does tell us to not worry and that God will provide. I think that can mean sometimes that we are really tested and think God has abandoned us and nothing is going right. But even though it may seem that way if we keep trusting God in the end we will be better off.

I think sometimes if not often we don't know Gods Will and we put all sorts of roadblocks and ideas of what that might be for us. But I think Gods Will is there underneath all that thinking in the quiet recess of our mind and sometimes it takes a bit of time to realise it.

Flat or round earth -The final experiment.

It's down to my computer, I'm having trouble linking & receiving you tube video's, I think it's because my computer is old & needs an updated version a bit like me ^_^
Yes, I had similar problems. I had to get a new laptop anyway, because apparently, Windows 10 isn't going to be supported after October this year.

How did Cain find a Wife ?

I would only add a slight correction - Jesus did not mean the Old Testament as we know it. We do not know which Scriptures He meant, specifically. Or which textual versions of which Scriptures.

That’s not really accurate - Christ specifically refers to “all the books of the Law and the Prophets”, which would mean in the context of Judaism the five books of the Pentateuch and various other books in the Old Testament.*

Additionally, there are clear prophecies of our Lord in the Old Testament, a great many of which were explicitly cited by St. Matthew in his Gospel, and others of which were called to mind in the Gospel of St. John, for example, its recapitulation of John 1:1. And there are numerous direct quotations of the Old Testament throughout the New.

Finally, what I have said regarding this, that the Old Testament is Christological prophecy, is the Patristic view, the view of traditional liturgical churches such as the Orthodox, Catholics, Protestants and Assyrians (it is for this reason the ancient lectionaries such as the East Syriac, Mozarabic, Gallican and Ambrosian lectionaries, the Roman Rite lectionary and its Protestant derivatives, and the Byzantine, Coptic, Syriac, Ethiopian and Armenian lectionaries, as well as the Revised Common Lectionary and the other recent three year lectionaries such as that of the Novus Ordo Missae will preface, in one way or another, New Testament lessons with Old Testament lessons, either in the Eucharistic liturgy itself or in the Divine Office (for instance, Eastern Orthodox and Oriental Orthodox churches tend to reserve the Divine Liturgy for the reading of the New Testament, and read the Old Testament prophecies that pertain to the liturgical occasion the night before at Vespers).

Many of the most obvious Christological prophecies pertaining specifically to the Passion and Resurrection of Christ are read on Holy Saturday morning at the Vesperal Divine Liturgy in the Eastern Orthodox church, where 14 lessons are read, or the Paschal Vigil Mass of the Roman Rite in its pre-1954 form** where 12 lessons are read; these exist to be read during the baptism of catechumens, and historically additional prophecies would be read as needed until the baptisms were complete, thus preparing the baptized neophytes for hearing the Gospel and partaking of the Eucharist at the Paschal liturgy.

* It is true, however, that the early Church never agreed exactly on the contents of the canon of Old Testament scripture, with variations existing between the various ancient liturgical rites and even slight variations within the Byzantine Rite as practiced by Eastern Orthodox of the Mediterranean and the Byzantine Rite as practiced by Eastern Orthodox speaking Church Slavonic, such as the Serbians, Russians, Bulgarians, Ukrainians, etc. And additionally there is the issue of the divergent Old Testament used by the Ethiopians and Eritreans before and after their conversion, which has never been enough of an issue for the Coptic Orthodox Church to try to act to suppress it, but which does include books such as 1 Enoch and Jubilees not found elsewhere, although St. Jude in his epistle appears to quote 1 Enoch. In the Protestant reformation, a number of churches adopted the 66 book Masoretic canon, but the Anglicans did not, nor did John Calvin, who apparently regarded Baruch as canonical, nor really Martin Luther, who would have preferred Esther be removed from the canon (it is my understanding that Lutherans have an open canon with regards to the Old Testament). However, it must be stressed that these differences are minor, for the most important prophetic texts exist across all canons of Old Testament Scripture.

** Before the 1954 reforms of Pope Pius XII, Paschal Vigils was celebrated in the morning, and some traditional Latin mass groups within the Roman Catholic Church, but not the SSPX, follow this practice; additionally, ,the reforms of Pius XII also changed the Mass of the Presanctified so that it no longer resembled the Presanctified Liturgy used by the Eastern Orthodox and Byzantine Rite Catholics, for both liturgies were based on a revised presanctified liturgy composed by Pope St. Gregory I Diologos, also known as St. Gregory the Great, among his numerous other liturgical contributions, such as Gregorian chant.
