Antisemitism all time high in UK

Thomas Sowell was asked why is there so much hatred for the Jews throughout history. He said its because they are so successful in what they do. Despite a history of oppression and dispersion they seem to be able to suceed no matter what.

The idea is that if your poor and disadvantaged you belong to the victim groups. But if you suceed your an oppressor.

But I think its more than this as there have been times when Jews were persecuted when in poverty such as the Pogroms against the Jews in Russia in the 19th century.

I have read that the true source of the hatred for the Jews is in the Torah. Back to Mt Sinai when God made the Jews His chosen people. Something in making the Jews Gods people provokes some people. Whether thats because they think the Jews should be cut down to size for claiming to be Gods people.

Or something deeper where just as the ancient Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites or the Jesbusites were attacking Isreal this inherent hatred still lives on and is something more spiritual.

But definitely there is a hyperfocus on the jews and Isreal compared to any other nations or similar context. Its more than cultural, land, or social justice.

I believe that ALL who ever lived will be in God’s Kingdom

Satan will exist until God Himself puts him away permanently.

In the mean time, there is mean time.

There is time, singular. That would be Satan's time. Satan knows his time, singular, is short.

Then there are the TIMES of mankind in the generations, plural.

And there is A SINGULAR generation, that of the serpent vipers who have had one very long day here from the garden onward. They also have "a nation." And a city. All these things of "them" are unseen, because they exist in the spiritual arena. The arena that the prophets saw and spoke of by similitudes. They "saw" what these "things" look like behind the curtains of empirical reality.

Time/Times/the dividing or halving

That's how it's coming down

i see the time, times and half time or 1260 days as the second forty as in 1260 divide by the amount of days in a month of a biblical year of 12 months of 360 days or 42 x 30 = 1260 of which speaks to the Israelites who camped 42 times in the wilderness ( where she is/they are nourished ) before they entered into the promise ... or Ephraim at the river Jordan with the 42,000 and this in picture the revealing of our nakedness which ties into the first forty masculine and the second forty feminine all of which is pictures of the process of our soul by way of this duality within us which time is as well seeing time is a measurement and a measurement needs two points of reference ... a beginning and an end ... Jesus never entered into the second forty ( feminine ) whist he walked the earth which is to say his nakedness was not revealed to him because he did not make a way for the devil to enter into his garden\mind and therefor was not separated\divided from the Truth he was ect ect ect

Darwinian evolution - still a theory in crisis.

That's really all you had to say without the whole spiel about Darwin doing the work of the devil for creating a book you've obviously never read and have no desire to read nor understand.

But if it's a no, then why do you keep bringing it up EVERY TIME evolution is talked about like it matters a thing?

Bondi initiates legal action against those involved in selling wall material at end of Biden term

“They stole the wall from us,” the president added. “That wall is so expensive to build. And we had it, as you know, hundreds of miles of it, and they came along and they basically sold it for scrap, and what a shame that is.”

It was a matter of the Biden administration punishing the American taxpayers for voting for Trump.
More 47's DOJ retaliation. The unused wall was rusting scrap. This is just a message to contractors not to cross Trump. They have been blaring this message very loud and very clear since January. At the highest level, the US is no longer a nation of laws but of might makes right with intimidation.

Can ChatGPT interpret speaking in tongues?

What does "edify themselves" mean to you in the context of personal prayer in an unknown tongue?
Paul's main intent in this chapter is about edifying the church and which is the better gift to do so.

For example if someone walked into church and spoke in an unknown language to the rest the only thing he could do is edify himself. Edify means to build up and we are talking about things that would rather build up the church.

This verse

I Corinthians 14:14 "For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful."

If you pray in an unknown tongue that you yourself don't understand - it would be unfruitful -barren. So there would be no "edifying/building of yourself.

I Corinthians 14:15 "What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also."

When we pray in the spirit we also pray with understanding.

In the Greek edify-

building, edification
Feminine (abstract) of a compound of oikos and the base of doma; architecture, i.e. (concretely) a structure; figuratively, confirmation -- building, edify(-ication, -ing).

If one's understanding is empty/barren there would be no building or structure given. So when we pray in the spirit we should pray in with understanding as well. I believe that's Paul's point, Yes, God would understand but we need the edification, the building, the structure. Which is what Paul is talking about within the church. He's just making a point in some of these verses about what's more important, etc.

I know other's believe and see it differently but that's how I see Paul's teaching in this chapter.

A third of pastors who leave ministry cite burnout, conflict with church: Study

Seems to me if you are called, you are equipped but it is not always not that easy.

I know one such pastor that was fed up with his church, the people were so backbiting his family and others it was tough to deal with. In his case, and possible others, they simply were at the wrong place or ministry. This pastor I know left his church and became a well known author and speaker at different churches/conferences. Sometimes it is God's way of moving the right pieces around. For others though maybe it was wrong they were in the position to begin with, or even worse, they failed God in some way that he is removing them.

Darwinian evolution - still a theory in crisis.

Meaning he didn't go to church, tithe, and worship God in spirit and in truth?

From his deathbed???

Yes, and the same thing happened in my family, with my sister swearing up and down that our father didn't get saved before he died, and despite the fact that I tried to tell her otherwise, she was so bitter towards him she went into denial mode.

My "Lady Hope story" to her fell on deaf ears.

Answers in Genesis partners with academia and, just like unbelievers, expects Darwin to have shown his conversion to the world by doing God knows what.

Building a church? writing a book? a song?

My dad didn't do any of that stuff and just quietly worshiped the LORD until he passed away, leaving all the naysayers to believe he died without Christ.

Real question AV: Does Darwin becoming a Christian on his deathbed really do anything to the theory of evolution?

Growth rates prove veracity? Islam seems to be growing faster than Christians in Ontario; following your logic, Islam is right. Church growth and right doctrine are often unrelated, however itchy ears hearing what they want to hear often results in growth above Churches that tell you what you need to hear.
Yes, that is one possible thesis. I think it too is partially correct. However, most Pentecostal/Charismatic churches do preach holiness. They are certainly not progressive though some may err in over emphasizing material things. On the positive side though churches that demonstrate in power various gifts of the Spirit are likely to have more success. I base this off of Paul. Even tongues can be a sign for unbelievers. I Cor 14:22
1 Corinthians 2:4 (KJV)
4 And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:"

Acts 1:8 (KJV)
8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

Acts 2:16-17 (KJV)
16 But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel;
17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:

What is interesting is that this power is not concentrating into one denomination, but rather God is using different denominations to create a Charismatic movement. This is especially true if you go outside the USA.

Brazil - About half the Catholics in Brazil are now charismatic (33 million). "While the Catholic Charismatic Renewal (CCR) is experiencing growth in Brazil, it is Pentecostalism that is generally considered the fastest-growing Christian sect there. The CCR, while significant and attracting many Catholics, is part of a larger trend of charismatic Christianity that includes both Catholic and Protestant groups. Pentecostalism, with its emphasis on the Holy Spirit and spiritual gifts, has seen a particularly strong surge in Brazil, especially since the 1990s"

Indonesia -"The Bethel Church of Indonesia, known in Indonesian as Gereja Bethel Indonesia (GBI), is a large Pentecostal Christian denomination in Indonesia. It's the largest Protestant and Pentecostal denomination in the country, with over 7,000 local churches and nearly three million members. GBI is affiliated with the Church of God (Cleveland, Tennessee). Pentecostal ecclesiology in the new adaptation era: The case of the Bethel Church of Indonesia

Global South - "Pentecostalism is the fastest-growing religious movement in the world;[14][15][16][17][18] this growth is primarily due to religious conversion to Pentecostal and Charismatic Christianity.[19][20] ...Christianity earns about 65.1 million people due to factors such as birth rate and religious conversion while losing 27.4 million people due to factors such as death rate and religious apostasy. Most of the net growth in the numbers of Christians are in Africa, Latin America and Asia.[22]" Christian population growth - Wikipedia

I am sure that I could sample many other nations and come up with similar conclusions.

As to other religions that are patently false, some nations are experiencing high growth, though usually at a low base. Correlating with growth should be compared with known true Christianity. I don't believe that Pentecostals/Charismatics are typicaly a false movement, though I think a few people suggest this. Most however, do preach basic salvation and make converts.

So while growth alone does not explain veracity, growth certainly can show that God is involved in something when Jesus is preached. I would thus argue that the charismatic renewal is positive for the worldwide church. That while some pockets of out of balance teaching may exist, God is still moving with the group as a whole. If this thesis is false based on poor doctrine, what is it that makes it so false that these people are not saved?

II Timothy 4:3 addresses ear tickling. One might conclude that charismatics are such churches but I think the evidence is not there for most. Why? Ear ticklers to me would not want to spend so much time in church. Though Eastern Orthodox and Catholics have some services that can last for hours, many Pentecostal services too last quite some time especially in the global South. Additionally, I doubt ear ticklers want to go to the altar for various ministry and have leaders lay hands on them for the need that is preached that day. Though this is not universal in all Pentecostal and Charismatic churches, I would say it is common especially in the global South.

Here is an interesting take on ear tickling that I would have never thought of. Preaching that Tickles the Ear

If we add this type of thinking the ministers that get their messages from the Holy Spirit would seem to be the least ear tickling. Those that worry about what the people think, consider their own flesh or who are incapable of hearing from God for a message on their own are the most at risk for ear tickling. I'm open to hear more about how this would play out in comparing denominations against each other.

So while no hypothesis dealing with people can be "proven" I do think that there are some tendencies that suggest God is behind the charismatic renewal. If so, will the next move will expand it even more? I would say yes, at least for the world a whole. I suppose it does not matter though the method of renewal and revival. But I think it does rest on the power of God and the prayers of those who are committed with God to the ministry of reconcilation, the fervor for the mission field and knowledge of the word. I pray that is all Christian churches.

Clement Admonishes the Jews to Repent

"The ministers of the grace of God have, by the Holy Spirit, spoken of repentance; and the Lord of all things has himself declared with an oath regarding it, “As I live, saith the Lord, I desire not the death of the sinner, but rather his repentance;” adding, moreover, this gracious declaration Repent O house of Israel, of your iniquity. Say to the children of My people, Though your sins reach from earth to heaven, and though they be redder than scarlet, and blacker than sackcloth, yet if ye turn to Me with your whole heart, and say, Father! I will listen to you, as to a holy people.” And in another place He speaks thus: “Wash you, and become clean; put away the wickedness of your souls from before mine eyes; cease from your evil ways, and learn to do well; seek out judgment, deliver the oppressed, judge the fatherless, and see that justice is done to the widow; and come, and let us reason together. He declares, Though your sins be like crimson, I will make them white as snow; though they be like scarlet, I will whiten them like wool. And if ye be willing and obey Me, ye shall eat the good of the land; but if ye refuse, and will not hearken unto Me, the sword shall devour you, for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken these things.” Desiring, therefore, that all His beloved should be partakers of repentance, He has, by His almighty will, established [these declarations]."
~Clement of Rome

The point is that this is clearly written to Israel since it is ripe with connotations about the people of Israel. Therefore, does Clement believe God is "done with the Jews"?
I see no reason to believe that, given this is not the first, but the second admonition from him on repentance. The logical conclusion is that one is for Gentiles and one is for the Israelites. It should also be understood that at the destruction of the Temple, it was THOUGHT that at that moment that God was "done with the Jews" but if it is a judgment of God on the Jews, then He is still involved with them. As such, given texts like Jeremiah 31:10 and following, it is clear that there would be a regathering of Israel.
I think this makes sense as Clements writings are in the 70s AD just after the Temples destruction. So there was a schism building. The Gentiles were increasing and the church was moving away from Judaism.

Though this was still part of Christianity the later was being fullfilled while the other was holding on to the old ways as far as the sacrifice of animals and upholding the laws and Torah.

I think Hebrews is similar and Paul also tried to explain to the Jews how Christ was the fullfillment and in Him Judaism can be fullfilled. He mentions Christ is the pascal lamb that takes away the sins of the world and overcame death.

Clement is doing similar in referring back to the prophesies of the old testament that the penalty of death has been fullfilled in repentence to God in Christ.

All the clues were there and it seems strange that if the Torah was prophesising about a Messiah and it was a time of Messianic fullfillment that the Jews did not see this.

But I think that was the point that Paul and Clement and even later church fathers even up to the end of the 2nd century. I think Tertillian is still telling some churches to stop practicing the Jewish rituals. Some still did not accept the full grace and wanted to hold onto the old ways.

The point being for the Jews finally the prophesies have been fullfilled. Wakeup and repent once again in resisting Gods Will. Of all people that should wakeup it is Gods people. Like in the past God is patiently waiting for them to come home.

Trump Threatens Federal Takeover of Washington After Member of DOGE Is Assaulted

For that, we don't need the Epstein files. Here it is:
In an episode of the Howard Stern Show in April 2005, Mr Trump said: “Well I’ll tell you the funniest is that I’ll go backstage before a show and everyone’s getting dressed and ready, and everything else, and, you know, no men anywhere, and I’m allowed to go in because I’m the owner of the pageant and therefore I’m inspecting it, you know, I’m inspecting, I want to make sure everything is good.

“You know, the dresses. ‘Is everyone ok?’ You know they’re standing there with no clothes. ‘Is everybody okay?’ And you see these incredible looking women. And so I sort of get away with things like that”.

Most mental health people don't consider letching on young teens to be pedophilia; the term sometimes used is "hebephilia." As you probably know, young teens were the target group for Epstein and others who molested them. In this case at least, they were for Trump, too.

Trump's comments on the Howard Stern show is the evidence. We don't need the Epstein files to know that he was creeping into the young girls' dressing room. He admitted it on the air.
So how come his words were not used against him in a court of law? No indictments, criminal charges, or criminal convictions. We are not arguing that the man says stupid stuff.

Normandt' meditations

203. Quality of people’s lives

Let’s meditate Paul’s reflection:

“Consider your own calling, brothers. Not many of you were wise by human standards, not many were powerful, not many were of noble birth. Rather, God chose the foolish of the world to shame the wise, and God chose the weak of the world to shame the strong, and God chose the lowly and despised of the world, those who count for nothing, to reduce to nothing those who are something, so that no human being might boast before God. It is due to him that you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God, as well as righteousness, sanctification, and redemption, so that, as it is written, ‘Whoever boasts, should boast in the Lord.’” 1 Corinthians, Chapter 1, verses 26 to 31

Paul seems to have understood how a person on a mission is. He doesn’t elaborate much and defines it in a few words: “foolish, weak, lowly, despised”. That’s what Paul thinks of us. It’s not very flattering. But it depends on the point of view of the person who receives it.

For the world, being foolish, weak, despised, it’s the equivalent of nailing us onto a cross. In their eyes, we’re poor.

But when we place our weaknesses in God, in what Paul says about us, becomes strength. For the strength doesn’t come from our pride, our know-how, our wisdom, but from God. We place our pride in God.

We are foolish to believe in a Crucified Messiah. We are despised to follow Jesus, we are weak to trust only in Jesus. We mention this from the beginning to give us an idea of the different types of poverty. For some people, poverty is wealth, for others wealth is poverty. But, in reality, there is real wealth and real poverty, and all humans stand between these two realities.

As we read this book, we’re invited to reflect on our different personal experiences of poverty and the different kinds of poverty we see around us. These discovered poverties we can give them to Jesus. We will be on a mission to help improve the quality of people’s lives.

Energy chief suggests Trump administration is altering previously published climate reports; staff for next iteration all fired already

Thanks. I have read the first two sections and will pick up more of it later. I'm refreshing my knowledge of the terminology as I haven't looked into climate modeling in a few years and my old training is, well, old.
You're welcome. Just keep in mind that the study is fourteen years old, with (hopefully) different models now.

Here's another that I'll toss out with the "Dubious" label: came across some late 20th Century claims that min/max temperature itself is a random walk, which doesn't quite ring true to me unless they're talking about it like a drunk staggering to a light pole: He might be all over the street getting there, but he does get there. Have not read them; just don't be surprised if you come across it.

That wouldn't be hard.

Spanish Inquisiton

Another member expressed a desire to discuss the inquisition. That is a broad topic spanning hundreds of years. I will limit this thread to the most notorious of the Inquisitions, the Spanish Inquisition. This is a sore subject with the potential for elevated emotions. I want to limit the discussion to facts, not accusations.

If a post is made with an accusation that is not backed up by facts, I ask the moderators to remove the post, yet not give any penalty to the poster. If an accusation is made backed up by facts, not hearsay, then I ask the moderators to allow us to discuss it.

Hearsay is a legal term for just repeating what someone else had said. Such a post would something like I read this guy said this about the inquisition or I believe this about the inquisition
I will ask what are your sources? And we can evaluate them.

What I have found was that the inquisition was aimed at those that falsely claimed to be Catholic, yet retained their old religion and were seeking to subvert the Church. It was not aimed at those that professed to be Jews, Moslems or Protestants, only those that attempted to infiltrate the Church through falsehood.

Here is what I found so far:

The Spanish Inquisition, established in 1478, was a religious tribunal aimed at combating heresy within the Catholic Church, primarily targeting individuals suspected of practicing crypto-Judaism (secretly practicing Judaism while outwardly converting to Catholicism), and to a lesser extent, other forms of religious deviation; while often associated with extreme brutality and torture, modern research indicates that while executions did occur, the number was likely significantly lower than popular perception, with the majority of cases resulting in fines or public penance, and the Inquisition's focus was more on surveillance and social control than widespread persecution of the general population.

Key points about the Spanish Inquisition:
  • Focus on Crypto-Jews:
The primary target of the Inquisition was "conversos," individuals of Jewish descent who had nominally converted to Catholicism but were suspected of still practicing Jewish rituals in secret.

  • Secret Denunciations:
Accusations against individuals were often made anonymously, which contributed to a climate of fear and suspicion.

  • Complex Trial Process:
Trials involved lengthy interrogations, sometimes including torture, to extract confessions, although the use of torture was supposed to be carefully regulated and was not always applied.

  • Penalties:
Depending on the severity of the offense, penalties could range from public penance, confiscation of property, exile, to execution by burning at the stake.

  • Social Impact:
The Inquisition had a significant impact on Spanish society, creating a climate of distrust and fear, particularly among "conversos" who were constantly under suspicion.

  • Exaggerated Popular Perception:
While the brutality of the Inquisition is often exaggerated in popular culture, it is important to note that the number of executions was likely much lower than commonly believed.

Important Considerations:
  • Historical Context:
The Inquisition emerged during a time of intense religious fervor and political instability in Europe, where the Catholic Church was actively trying to consolidate its power.

  • Varying Severity:
The intensity and methods of the Inquisition varied across different regions of Spain and over time.

  • Scholarly Debate:
Historians continue to debate the exact scope and impact of the Spanish Inquisition, with ongoing research examining the nuances of its practices and the experiences of those affected.

Just wanted to politely point something out: I read your post thoroughly and you said you ask moderators to delete posts that have no facts attached to them but that is exactly what you did - made a post with claims without any sources attached to it to verify them.

The mass

The Lutheran rite in its historic Latin form is so similiar to the traditional Latin mass that the music is basically interchangeable - indeed Bach is arguably more useful for purposes of the Tridentine mass than contemporary Lutheran worship since unfortunately Latin services in the Lutheran churches have become uncommon, except in a few places such as the Thomaskirche in Leipzig.

While supporting a vernacular liturgy, Martin Luther was not opposed to the continuation of the Latin liturgy, and the Lutheran Mass in Latin is basically a use of the Roman Rite.

This is particularly true in the case of those high church Lutherans such as the early Church of Sweden which disagreed with Martin Luther about the Canon, or anaphora, and did not remove it from the mass. I myself do not understand why Luther wanted to remove the canon other than it being some misguided attempt to push back against Roman Clericalism, which I would understand, but I still disagree with it. Indeed, the main area where I think the Anglican liturgy is superior to the early Lutheran liturgies is that it reformed and clarified the Eucharistic prayer and made it audible once more, as it had been in the Low Mass prior to the ninth century, so that the laity could be edified by it, and I feel this is the approach Luther should have taken.

This is also the approach the Ukrainian Lutherans take in their recension of the Divine Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom, which nonetheless I feel cuts too much, and needlessly so, since there is very little in the ancient liturgy of Antioch that a Lutheran would have cause to object to.

There is even less in the ancient liturgy of Alexandria, which has two epiklesis, one of which is placed before the Words of Institution, like in the Roman Mass, which would avoid threatening the Western idea that the Words of Institution are what is consecratory.

It should be stressed on this point however that not all Eastern Christians will say that it is the epiklesis that is consecratory, by itself. Rather, going back to the fourth century, one will find Church Fathers who regard the entire Divine Liturgy as consecratory, which is why the Divine Liturgy is always celebrated with the Prothesis (the Liturgy of Preparation) and the Synaxis (the Liturgy of the Catechumens, also known as “The Liturgy of the Word”), followed by the Anaphora.

Indeed if one does not have a priest present, one can celebrate the Syanxis by itself, which is called a Typika service, which directly corresponds with the Anglican service of Antecommunion, and the Roman Missa Sicca or Missa Venatoris, or the various Protestant and Lutheran services, such as the one included in the 2006 Lutheran Service Book, which have the same scripture lessons as the Mass, but which do not have the Eucharist.

In Orthodoxy there are some cases where a Typika is required even if a priest is present, so there are a few different types of Typika Services - there are Reader Services, which can be celebrated by the laity with no clergy, not even a reader, contrary to what the name might suggest, and there are Typika services said by the clergy, which might be used, for example, on the morning of a day when a Vesperal Divine Liturgy will be celebrated, or was celebrated the night before, since Vesperal Divine Liturgies include Vespers, which marks the end of one liturgical day and the start of another, and in Orthodoxy, the rule is one liturgy per altar, per priest, per day. One common occasion for the use of a Typika is the morning of Christmas Eve.

At any rate I hope you enjoyed and found edifying this grand tour of Eastern and Western liturgical traditions. Please pray for me, because I had a nasty fall on Thursday morning, two atually, because I fell and hit my hand after falling and twisting my ankle, on some unstable crumbling asphalt, which resulted in very painful asphalt-smelling wounds to my hands, my knees and my elbow. I am not complaining, of course, because I am extremely thankful to Christ our True God and my guardian angel and our glorious Lady Theotokos for protecting me and ensuring that I did not hit my head and get conked out, or worse, or break anything, as those falls were nasty and could have been a lot worse. So I would ask everyone to pray that I continue to recover while joining me in thanking God, the Father, Son and Holy Ghost, and his Heavenly Host, especially my guardian angel, and the Theotokos and all the saints, for the fact that I was not more seriously injured.
Glad I am not a "Contemporary Lutheran".

Why do US schools not allow the Bible to be taught ?

There are plenty of ways and opportunities to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Christian Nationalism indoctrination is just not one of them.
Thanks for sharing.
Bible stories in school = Christian National indoctrination?

Odd. The very last one I heard in school concerned King Belshazzar, Daniel, and the writing on the wall. The book of Daniel is from the Ketuvim of the Tanakh.

I don't think that's what's behind the "Jews will not replace us" crowd.
In my limited experience, if one person intends to hate another because of race, they will look for any excuse to justify their hatred. If one doesn't work, they'll easily shift to another.
