Hegseth to Return Memorial Biden Tore Down in Arlington National Cemetery

No it is not apples and oranges. The principle is the same, remaining faithful to the lost cause.

Why should that be celebrated? Homegrown terrorists also if being born and raised here makes a difference.

Most of these monuments were installed between the 1890s and 1930, during the Jim Crow and post-war periods. Their purpose was to preserve Southern ideology after defeat, not to promote healing or reconciliation.

Today, the reason is entirely different. Supporters of these monuments do not endorse slavery or racism; instead, they display them mainly to oppose liberals.

We will keep putting these monuments on display when the GOP is in power and removing them when Democrats return, repeating this cycle until we recognize how childish this tit-for-tat approach is. Unfortunately, given current attitudes, it may be a long time before Americans outgrow this behavior.

Ghislaine Maxwell’s move to ‘country club’ prison smacks of special treatment, experts say

Perhaps you will find this report to be informative.
You do realize that the lawyer who went to Maxwell was Trump's personal lawyer during the E. Jean Carroll trial, and Maxwell is getting rewarded for protecting Trump with that move to a minimum security prison?

And Bondi had hundreds of FBI agents combing the Epstein files for Trump's name. It is probably blacked out by now, don't you think?

AI is not the problem. We are

This is a very interesting thread. There are two things about AI that I’ve been wondering about:

  • I wish there was some type of marker on images and videos so I know it was generated by AI. I often view harmless videos that I find interesting. I show them to my wife, and she can often spot that they were AI generated. It is deflating, and I wish there was a required water mark or something.

Some social media platforms do have some type of "Made by AI" that flag that can be set when posting an image or video. However, it often seems its up to the person posting if they tag it that way or not.

I am stating facts. He is not a rapist.
Then just a sexual assaulter?

The judge said what he did. At a minimum, Trump is a sexual assaulter. He even confessed it on an Entertainment Tonight episode.

So Trump, with a history of sexual assault, let his DOJ work a move to a minimum security prison for a sex trafficker.

Energy chief suggests Trump administration is altering previously published climate reports; staff for next iteration all fired already

Another, separate, point:

For a long time I've been involved in making various projections for the company where I work. Each time I look at the data and make various models and make projections from that. The projections I make each year supersede the previous ones.

Certainly, and the company, like the government, relies on the most recent estimates and forecasts for current decision making.

But I presume you don't alter the documents from last year to make your previous estimates look better in order to justify yourself.

It is Orwellian.

We have always been at war with offshore wind energy.

Trump orders new census to exclude illegal immigrants from states' population totals

illegal immigrants are not legal residents. They should not be counted and included in the Census
The construction doesn't make any distinction besides Indians not taxed, and even that point is moot now since Native Americans are all citizens by birth now and taxed.

Hegseth Boosts Video of Pastors Saying Women Shouldn't Vote, Advocating Repeal of 19th Amendment

Ann Coulter has been pushing for years to revoke women's right to vote. It's mainstream conservatism now.

It would be a much better country if women did not vote. That is simply a fact. In fact, in every presidential election since 1950 - except Goldwater in '64 - the Republican would have won, if only the men had voted. - Ann Coulter

No person can come to Christ by their own freewill !

The "only choices"? It seems to me that we have nothing but choices. And they are all in the context of God's domain.

But along with faith and belief, how much freedom do we really have. Can you make yourself believe something that you do not believe? I doubt it. It takes a grace and something to convince or turn our thinking (conversion). I think though that we each do have a free choice to reconsider our opinions and thus our beliefs. Sometimes it even takes a moment of personal crisis to bring us to that openness of heart in which we change our minds. So while "No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him" is true. It does not mean we have no free will.
Yes and no. You may think you have a choice and be acting on what you believe to be a choice before you are saved, but really you can only choose out of your fallen nature. That means you can’t choose to believe in God because you are dead in your sins. That is what Romans 3 is all about. All are under sin and do not have the ability to seek for or understand God. It is only after God has already turned your heart to himself that you have the ability (with the power of the Holy Spirit) to choose out of your redeemed nature. If you are seeking God, that is because He already worked His work on your heart and that leads you to seek for Him.

DOJ issues subpoenas to NY AG Letitia James, including over Trump civil fraud case and NRA case: Sources

And I don't know how you can complain about Martin when James ran for office promising to get Trump
#1: He wasn't going to be confirmed by the Senate as US Attorney, so his nomination was pulled. So he's been deemed unfit for that kind of role.

#2: Per the judge's ruling in the dismissal of Jack Smith's case, Martin has been unlawfully appointed as special prosecutor/attorney/counsel. He would require Senate approval (where he's already failed to pass muster).

The rider on the white horse

Some claim that the rider on the white horse in Rev 19:11-16 is the same as the rider on the white horse in Rev 6:2.

But I would argue that's not the case because:
1. The rider in Rev 19 is introduced as a new concept, being described in much detail.
2. The description of his attire is different
- a singel crown in Rev 6 vs many crowns in Rev 19
- having a bow in Rev 6, but not in Rev 19

What would be the arguments for them still being the same, namely Jesus?

Hegseth to Return Memorial Biden Tore Down in Arlington National Cemetery

One event happened solo in the US.

The other in Germany

Why would anyone in the US build a monument to the German army to promote reconciliation?

Reconciliation of what?

Nope. But good attempt to Segway in an off topic jab.

The conflict did not occur solely on U.S. soil. During the Civil War, the nation was divided, with one part being the United States of America and the other the Confederate States of America. Similar to conflicts with foreign nations such as Germany, Americans fought against what was then considered a separate entity—the Confederate States of America.

Isn’t that the point of this little hate-fest of a thread, that you are oh so worried that Trump is going to reinstate slavery? And the worry about the south must not rise up again? If it’s not, what’s all the uproar about?

The military itself points out the monument's sanitized and mythologized view of the South, caricatures of black people, and 'Lost Cause' ideology.
Congress chose to have it removed.

This thread started as a love-fest for its restoration, and those of us who felt its removal was justified are appalled.

That's it; that's the uproar.

The elaborately designed monument offers a nostalgic, mythologized vision of the Confederacy, including highly sanitized depictions of slavery.

Two of these figures are portrayed as African American: an enslaved woman depicted as a “Mammy,” holding the infant child of a white officer, and an enslaved man following his owner to war. An inscription of the Latin phrase “Victrix causa diis placuit sed victa Caton” (“The victorious cause was pleasing to the gods, but the lost cause to Cato”) construes the South’s secession as a noble “Lost Cause.”

Those who enjoy this "own the libs" moment should consider that the cause this celebrates was met with divine displeasure as stated on the monument itself. It was pleasing only to Men.

It was put before the people who experience it - who lived through the trauma of war. The President at the time along with Congress said yes -

who are we to reverse the sentiment , over 100 years later of the people who lived through it? Perhaps they saw something we didn't.

BTW - it was and act of Congress working with the President who built (by a Jewish artist) and placed the monument. Who removed it? Congress? no -

If Congress and the President made decisions 100 years ago, does that mean we cannot change them today? If this were the case, it would prevent us from amending the Constitution, updating existing laws, or revoking executive orders issued by previous presidents.

If we apply the same logic used to justify Confederate monuments, then any state today—such as Governor Newsom declaring secession from the United States—could do so, and after losing a civil war, be honored with a monument for reconciliation at Arlington, despite the defeat.

This approach suggests that those who commit treason should be honored instead of punished.

You’re from Oklahoma. By your logic, should Oklahoma put a Timothy McVeigh monument in front of the federal building?

Wouldn't it be nice if we had a president where that wouldn't be a concern?
So much fake outrage. If only there outrage (heck, even fake outrage would be acceptable) on the left regarding Biden’s shadow government, or Obama using a fake news dossier to get wiretapping for Trump’s campaign.

Because Israeli political leaders have vowed to destroy Hamas whatever they do.
And they deserve to be destroyed in the face of their extermination goals (and actions) against Israel.

It is permissive for Christians to eat meat today

The term there, βρωματων, can have reference to foods in general, not only meat. Without more context it is tough to know what is indicated, though there are various theories.
If you read the verse, it says that people are going to start abstaining from certain foods. What types of food do people commonly abstain from today? The answer to this question is how we know what it's referring to.

Veganism is demonic and that's clear in scripture.

1 Timothy 4:
1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;
2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;
3 Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.

It is Israel that has dropped the bombs on Gaza.
What part of ….. If Hamas hadn’t attacked Israel for the umpteenth time, If Hamas hadn’t taken hostages and beaten and starved them to death, and If Hamas had released the hostages (dead and alive) this would never have happened, don’t you understand? The blame is SOLELY on Hamas.

Soros-Backed Group, Beto O’Rourke PAC Pick Up Tab For Texas Democrats’ Gerrymandering Stunt

1. Are saying as long as they are under represented every ten years, it is ok? That is strange logic imho.

2. Here is a hint. There is more inequality in Blue states than in Arkansas.

44% of voters in New Mexico are Republican, yet they have no seats. Zero. How it that ok?

Maybe because New Mexico has only 3 House seats in New Mexico and their Congressional Districts do not appear to be gerrymandered? Instead, it appears the Congressional districts are basically one for the North, one for the South, and one for Albuquerque (and the center of the state). Or is your complaint that they should have done something less logical to gerrymander a Republican district?

By contrast, compare that to Texas where you have Congressional districts that are almost "C" shaped, with the center carved out, and connected to a portion outside the "C," for a different Congressional District to help create more Republican districts (take a look at the weird shape of districts in the Houston, San Antonio, and DFW areas). Of course, that isn't good enough for Gov. Abbott and the Texas Republicans, as they now feel the need to create even more creative districts, to further ensure Republicans retain control of the state.

AI is not the problem. We are

This is a very interesting thread. There are two things about AI that I’ve been wondering about:

  • AI is running out of good data. Except for biological data that can be used for creating new and better medications, and some forensic studies, and similar studies in electronics and such, AI can’t exceed human knowledge. Researchers warn we could run out of data to train AI by 2026. What then?.
  • I wish there was some type of marker on images and videos so I know it was generated by AI. I often view harmless videos that I find interesting. I show them to my wife, and she can often spot that they were AI generated. It is deflating, and I wish there was a required water mark or something.

Because Israeli political leaders have vowed to destroy Hamas whatever they do.
And Hamas vowed to destroy Israel since their creation in 1987. They destroyed whatever advances the PLO and Israel had gained through the Oslo Accords. They have been attacking Israel with rockets and other ordinance since they took over the government of Gaza in 2007. Hamas is a pawn of Iran and carry the same terrorist rhetoric about the destruction of Israel and the US. You are defending a terrorist organization that could not care less about the Palestinian people as evidenced by their past and present actions.

Police Believe CDC Shooter Thought COVID Vaccine Made Him Sick: Report

Friday’s attack was carried out by a shooter who’d been reaching out for mental health assistance for weeks, CDC leaders say

Leaders told staffers, many of whom work in the agency’s National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases, the attack was carried out by a shooter who had been reaching out for mental health assistance for weeks before the incident but had not made any threats ahead of time, according to two sources who spoke on the condition they not be named.

After speaking with family members of the suspect, police are operating under the hypothesis he was either sick or believed he was sick and blamed the illness on the Covid-19 vaccine, a law enforcement official told CNN.

The shooting occurred the same week US Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. – a longtime critic of Covid vaccinations, with a history of spreading vaccine misinformation – announced the cancellation of a half-billion dollars in investments in mRNA projects.

“Let me be absolutely clear: HHS supports safe, effective vaccines for every American who wants them. That’s why we’re moving beyond the limitations of mRNA and investing in better solutions,” said Secretary Kennedy.
