  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Can we talk about ADHD... and such ?

There are differences between people. Some of whom don't thrive in factory-style classrooms or cubicles. Considering how common these diagnoses are, it seems to me that the system is more broken than the individuals.

Are those diagnosed with ADHD,autism, and the like responsible for the ideological and moral failings of our society? No. They are not to blame. In part because they are disempowered. Rather, it is those who thrive within the broken system who tend to cause the greatest harm. The so-called "best and brightest" who rise to the top aren't necessarily the most intelligent or the most noble of character. Some are, but the system rewards things like cheating, bullying, lack of empathy for others, parroting back rather than thinking critically, etc. Those who notice this pattern, and realize they can't do much about it, may mentally disengage rather than give their best. If the purpose of education is to pass knowledge to the new generations and shape a better tomorrow, then we are doing it wrong.

Do you feel comfort from Isaiah 56?

mankind to this day) think it's based on your family (or position in the world):

Unfortunately, even many Christians think that way.. Remember what comes out of the mouth is what corrupts the body. It's not just about cussing or slander. Talking about worldly things as if they are good things also corrupts.

I'm still far from perfect from not speaking of things (or against it) that corrupt but I'm trying my best.

I keep falling into sin for some reason

I am a single hetero male in my 60s, still have desires, knowing also I don’t want to bring another person into sin ( Matthew 7:1-12, Matthew 23:36-40, Romans 13:8-10 etc.). I confess my sins all the same ( 1 John 1:5-10), pray for myself, for my neighbor, & for evangelism ( 1 Timothy 2:1-6, Matthew 6:9-13, Matthew 9:36-38 etc,). Colossians 1:10-24 ( all of Colossians 1 actually) is a good overview of seeing the living aspect of faith in a lifetime. The key is to avoid extremes like panicking or reckless complacency.

Newsome pushed back against Democracy to achieve his political goals

Your entire post was leftist tripe. Classic.

The research is so dull of holes its silly. They dont have a clue how much crime illegals cause. Most places dont keep track of if a person is an illegal or not. They don't verify whether they are or not. Illegals also don't report because they are Illegals.

I bet those areas aren't leftist enough for you.

No I get it. We've been saying there is dog poo on rhe line for sometime. Particularly since Obama got elected and the left started really pushing their agenda and ideology on rhe rest of us. Dog poo.

Now we have to try and clean it up.
Nope - you still don't get it.

You just keep repeating the assertion that everything I say is "leftist tripe" etc - but you have not replied to show what mechanisms are going to prevent your country collapsing into a Dictatorship.

You're replying with a "Left" vs "Right" mindset - the Pork vs Beef sausages. The policy outcomes you hate from Obama, and the wonderful policies that angel Trump has enacted to kick start a new "Golden Age" in America.

(Where I see him as betraying the western world, destroying American science, destroying businesses, betraying the poor and kicking 16 million Americans off healthcare - while offering the top 10 individual billionaires in America a $30 million annual tax EACH! I could go on ranting against Trump's policy outcomes - but that's not actually the subject here.)

Outcomes are not the topic.

The PROCESS of getting those outcomes is.

This little thing called Democracy - which guards against any one person having excessive power.

I'm saying the process with which democracy is enacted in your country is distorted. The manner of getting the sausages.

Do you WANT to live in an autocracy?

Do you feel comfort from Isaiah 56?

I'm a very keen observer of human struggles and I saw how married Christians let their marriage limit their faith. Some even told me in my face, there are things they can't do for Christ or the extent they can seek the truth due to the danger it poses to their families. Most married Christians I know have similar sentiments so I guess Apostle Paul is right about marriage. It's more a bad thing than a good thing for Christians.

I'm not condemning these Christians. It doesn't forfeit salvation to get married, have children, and no longer follow Christ when the road starts to require more faith. However, it might forfeit your salvation to start having pride in your marriage and children instead of being broken to the fact, you can't follow Christ all the way. When you begin to idolize your marriage and children. Sadly, it's not uncommon for many Christians to fall into that trap.
Also there's a lot of compromise involved. That's what marriage is. Usually that's a good thing. But what about when it comes to compromise on Biblical truth? When Paul says in a marriage you're divided, he's not talking about compromise on the color of the carpet.

Air Force to provide funeral honors to Ashli Babbitt

There were lots of angry people inside the room alongside them. But the angry people were trying to get at the Congresscritters. Those officers were not facing a threat coming towards them. They only would have been threatened if they had tried to act.
So the officers were not facing a threat? Actually they were but they chose to stand down,
And after they moved aside the crowd initially attacked the doors but then they saw Officer Byrd holding a gun.
It looks like from the video they stood down then and Byrd just faced Babbitt coming through the window.
And because I think it may not have been necessary to use deadly force someone is saying I would've just stood there.
And I'm talking to people who have never had to make the decision to use deadly force or not

There’s a Giant Flaw in Human History

Don't get me wrong. I am not implying any specific method. Just what could have caused the signature. This is good that we are going back and forth and narrowing down what this could be.

As a counter to this theres a couple issues. First it is well known that Karnak has been used by a number of pharoahs and that Ramese II has usurped much of the works from other times. Second we actually have evidence of earlier pharoahs work from the old Kingdom in Karnak being reused by later pharoahs.

We even have Roman works added to the site in sandstone pillars which contrast with the pink granite pillars which seem to match the signatures of the old kingdom work which shows two destinct levels of works from different times on the same site.

These Alabasta bases are found under the foundations of later pillars which trace back to the old kingdom. We know this because one was reused as some sort of offering table with the 4th dynastry priest Rah Wer engraved on it.

View attachment 369412
View attachment 369414

So there is old kingdom works that were originally there and build around, added to or reused. As the obeliske is made of pink granite which matches other pink granite works from the old kingdom dynasties including the cuts on them it may be from that time period.

So a case can be made just as a case may be made that its a later work or a forgery. But I like that we are going back and forth to find out lol because I would like to know.

But just stepping back and seeing what looks like two destinct type of works where the earliest works seem to be more precise and in the hardest stone . Compared to later works which are in softer stone and less precise and quality.

For example at Luxor we see the new kingdom sandstone pillars which are made in sections next to the single piece calved pink granite pillars which are much more precise and sophisticated. As though later kings were trying to copy these early granite pillars. Rameses has stamped his name on them.

View attachment 369415

Yet their signature traces back to the earliest dynasties where solid one piece granite pillars were common and originated such as from Giza and Saqqara. Such as this one in the Cairo and British museum.

The ruins of the Karnak religious complex is from the New Kingdom and beyond into Roman times. There are no Old Kingdom ruins standing today.
The architectural style and more importantly the religion of the New Kingdom has shaped what is found at Karnak today.

In the Old Kingdom, Amun was a local god of southern Egypt and the religious centres were in the north such as Heliopolis and Memphis where the major gods were Ra, Osiris and Ptah.
Amun became the principal god of Egypt by the time of the New Kingdom and the Karnak religious complex was a dedication to him.
Using your example of the obelisk highlights the architectural differences between the Old and New Kingdoms. Obelisks from the Old Kingdom were smaller, less decorated and made from limestone instead of granite. These obelisks are not found at Karnak.
So if the pharaohs from the 19th dynasty and beyond were forging their name on monuments it was on New Kingdom constructions.

Needless to say none of this addresses nor supports the idea of the Egyptians using some superior technology.

What verticle slit do you mean. There is only a horizontal one running from about 2 inches from the ground up the relief for about 10 feet and then stops. Theres another fine cut to the side of the same face. All the other marks or lines, some quite thick are the outlines of the artwork of the relief.

The cut could have been made anytime after the relief. One explanation is that the fine cut is an overcut where the material has been removed to leave an overcut that went deeper than needed. If you notice the line continuing from the cut but has not actually cut in. So the saw has gone deeper along that line. You can see a small overcut around a meter above where it went in deep.

View attachment 369422

I don't know. I have not seen any claims for this with evidence. Maybe it is maybe it isn't. I guess further investigation is needed. But there are dozens like this. Are you saying they must all be later additions.

Like I said we see this same sharp and narrow cuts in the block work itself. In fact we see these over cuts that seem to dig in or go deeper than intended on the finely polished statues. For example those at the Cairo museum show overcuts along the side and under the arms which look similar to the overcuts on the obelisk going in and out again.

View attachment 369423
Here is the area of interest as circled.

ExhibitZZ.png

The slit was created after the relief, if you want to believe this is an overcut and part of the artistic rendition dream on, in the real world it is an act of vandalism performed at a much later date when it was possible to make sharp cuts.

What I'm not ignoring is that you'd have done nothing but stand there.
I never said that. It's amazing how critical some people can be because I would leave deadly force as a last resort.
I question what Byrd did because I believe it may not have been necessary.
And for that you say that I wouldn't have done anything.
I didn't join this conversation to talk about what I would have done.
But I can tell you that I would have handled it so much better than you

Mass Shooting at Annunciation Catholic Church/School in Minneapolis

I can understand not wanting to point fingers at an already misunderstood community. But... If we are going to talk about gun control and SSRI drugs (which we should and need to do), we must also realize when certain communities seem uniquely vulnerable to radicalization, violence, and severe mental health issues.
And, once we realize that, we should ask ourselves why. Are vulnerability to radicalization, violence, and severe mental health issues inherent properties of transgenderism, or are they tied to isolation, ostracization, and vitriol and hatred being spewed at them from all sectors of society? Like, if we just treated trans people like people, would they have so many struggles?

No person can come to Christ by their own freewill !

It’s clear that you have no intention of having a real discussion when you either selectively edit out words from the quote to fit your narrative or put up lame excuses why the quotes can be disregarded.
Edit out words from the quotes?

It took me hours to make this response. I wanted to show what the quotes actually mean in context and what they don’t say. For example, I explained Justin’s stance to clearly show he isn't teaching total depravity.

Newsome pushed back against Democracy to achieve his political goals

Do most States in the USA have 2 houses for State legislation? (Not all Australian States do.)
Most do. I think Nebraska is 'unicameral', but it's rare.
If so - is not the Upper House / Senate usually Proportional Representation (PR) of the entire state already?
Nope. There are House districts and Senate districts drawn on the map. Which are totally different from Congressional districts.
What would be the benefit in having 2 legislative assembly bodies like this?
Um.

Mass Shooting at Annunciation Catholic Church/School in Minneapolis

I am not counting gang-related drive-bys as mass shootings, though many do. I am referring to lone-wolf shootings, especially those that target schools. Something like Columbine.
Okay, how many of those have happened in the past 7 years?
I posted here, covering some incidents that did involve transgender shooters or would-be shooters. 4 examples over 7 years, with more examples for planned or threatened attacks that did not take place, is still worrying. Are transgender people more likely to carry out or plan these attacks than non-transgender people?
I know you made that post - I referenced it in mine. And again, the data says no, transgender people are not more likely to commit mass shootings than non-transgender people. There's a better case to be made for them being more likely to commit school shootings (44 of those in the past 7 years, three of them with at least one trans perpetrator), but then:
The question is, why? Bullying? Depression?
Considering that bullying is a common trigger for school shootings, that seems like it could probably be a contributing factor. Especially when you consider that trans kids are more likely to be bullied (and at least one of the three trans school shooters explicitly cited his bullying as a motivating factor). Double that for Christian schools, where even the adults will tell a trans kid that they're an abomination. Depression doesn't generally lead to mass shootings; considering that it's largely associated with feelings of self-loathing, depression is more closely correlated with suicide than murder.
This is the second time in a few years that a transgender person has targeted children in a Christian school. I know many people do not want to see a pattern here, but I do.
Sure, two points make a line. Not much of a pattern though. That said, given the rhetoric that Christians spew about trans people (you don't have to look far - there's plenty of it here on CF), I can see why some trans people might have serious issues with Christianity. That doesn't justify them killing people, but I can understand why they might feel that way, when pretty much an entire religion hates them just for existing.

Democrat Appellate Judge overturns half billion dollar fine

There is only one left, the highest appeals court in NYS which is the NYS Court of Appeals. It's isn't at all likely that the verdict will be overturned and the disgorgement may actually be reinstated though lessened. We shall see.

There was the Trump University fraud, the Donald J Trump Foundation fraud, and most prominently, the NYS business fraud both civil and criminal. And those are just the charged ones.

The Trump University fraud and the Foundation fraud have all been legally taken care of. The NYS business fraud are completely and totally bogus. The only ones who don't believe those are bogus are probably only the left wing liberals. But, for the sake of discussion. Let us assume that all of the progressive liberal attacks against President Trump are actually true. What does that say about Kamala Harris and the leadership of the Democratic Party which was roundly rejected by the vast majority of the voters in 31 states in the 2024 election?

I thought one idea behind a "lower house" (Legislative Assembly in Aussie States) was that it was meant to be made up of voices representing local districts.

Then, because that process itself is so controversial, it was moderated by an Upper House (Senate) which was based on PR?

That's 2 ways of expressing and cross-checking the will of the people. (A few of our States do not have 2 houses though.)

We Don’t Need Gun Control, We Need To Classify Gender Dysphoria As A Mental Illness Again

The OP didn't make a serious solution to any problem, just the application of bigotry.
Which doesn't exclude a serious discussion. During the span of my lifetime, something changed. We would do well to try to determine what that something is. We can rule out access to firearms because we went from mail order firearms to background checks and waiting periods. The cause then was something else, and not addressing the underlying cause isn't going to accomplish what many hope it will.

I want to thank you for our discussions. Perhaps we'll have more in the future. But clearly I'm in the wrong place here.

Everyone have fun.

Yeah, she was. She was defying the Capitol police and part of a mob attacking and breaking into the Capitol for the purpose of stopping the certification of the election.

The unsupported statements that you make come off as as "nuh-uh".
She did not threaten to hurt anyone. The "mob" did not hurt anyone. They protestors were allowed and guided into the building at other locations, so why assume Ashli Babbit was part of a criminal mob?
