A common concept by non-Christians is that we're judged on a debits and credits system. But being our best is as filthy rags compared to God's righteousness, what credit can we possibly have? Even if we could live perfectly from this point on, we'd only be doing what we were supposed to be doing the entire time. Yet we often hear non-Christians say "I'm a good person." Compared to me they probably are, But while someone in a skyscraper is closer to the Moon when it's overhead than someone on the street below, both are very far from the Moon.I'm sure Trump has done some many horrible things. That he needs to worry about. When it comes to being saved. Trump wanted to get involved, so he can claimed he stopped the war. But he didn't stop the war, so he's claiming a bunch of nonsense. To please the Christian's.
Taken at face value, Trump's comment is exactly that concept, no different than any other person trusting in their own works.
