Why are some Catholics scared of studying the Bible themselves?

That's wonderful. Maybe after you read the Scriptures for yourself, there are a lot of interesting relationships that can be missed. For example, Peter was warming himself by a charcoal fire when he betrayed Our Lord, and after the Resurrection Jesus eats with Our Lord next to a charcoal fire, and Jesus does not bring up Peter's sins.
I believe, however, that Jesus did allude to Peter's three-fold denial of being a follower of Jesus, by asking Peter point-blank three times, "Do you love me?" If someone wanted to show how merciful or forgetful of past sins Jesus is, I think this was not an example.

Hegseth to Return Memorial Biden Tore Down in Arlington National Cemetery

It is literal history. Here is the short version:

White southerners (segregationists): Dem -> GOP
Black voters (where permitted): GOP -> Dem
Yeah, that is the long debunked myth.
The President was one of the most racists of all time: WW. He also screened and praised the confederate revanchist movie "Birth of a Nation" which kicked off the second rising of the Klan.

That is also history.
And the Klan was self identified as the militant arm of the Democic Party

That is history also.

German proposal for ten bishops to defy Rome and ordain 50 married men as priests

The Catholic Church in Germany is moribund. Oh, a few rare outposts of the Faith, but overall it's dead. Empty church buildings, membership in collapse, strange folks with sinecures due to the German 'Church Tax', and not much more. The idea to ordain married men is actually one of the tamest ideas to come out of the 'German Church' in a long time.
Doesn’t surprise me sadly. Lord, have mercy! Christ, have mercy! Praying for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit to clean up this mess! Ugh!

Israel's Security Cabinet approves plan for Israeli military to take over Gaza City

Let us reason. The Arab states want a two state solution. Over 60% of the West Bank is controlled by Israel leaving a tiny area for the Palestinian Authoritiy which Netanyahu has rejected as the potential Arab government. This Prime Minister is projecting a fanciful scenario, for now.
I get it but I don’t see how Hamas should continue to head the government of Gaza.

Mel Gibson’s ‘Resurrection’ to hit theaters in 2 parts on Good Friday, Ascension Day

Is it easy to find sections you need like an index?
Yes but I just read them in order. Each section is uplifting and reminds you that God loves you and will never forsake you

More cracks in MAGA

Donald Trump is a liberal? I don't think so.
When were they found by courts to have done any of those things, as Trump was?

Never said he was a liberal. But Clinton is! Remember Monica Lewinsky
She bragged about having an affair with Clinton. Pretty despicable, but not sexual assault or pedophilia.

Paula Jones?
He asked her to have sex with him. Pretty despicable, but not sexual assault or pedophilia.

Whitewater?
Even a republican-selected prosecutor admitted that the Clintons did nothing illegal in the Whitewater scam. They were victims, having invested in the scheme. Would you like me to show you?

Compare to Trump who bragged about getting away with sexual assault, and was found by a court to have sexually assaulted a woman. And of course, his adventures with his pedophile pal Epstein. We still don't know what went on there. Maybe nothing. But of so, why is he hiding what went on?

Hegseth to Return Memorial Biden Tore Down in Arlington National Cemetery

Hegseth* to Return Memorial Biden Tore Down in Arlington National Cemetery

It’s official — the Biden administration’s historic eraser just hit a major snag.
In a move that’s already got progressives clutching their pearls and composing angry Twitter threads, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced that the Confederate Memorial — yep, that one — is heading back to Arlington National Cemetery.
The very same monument that was yanked out of the ground under Biden’s watch, boxed up like unwanted furniture, and banished to a Defense Department storage facility in Virginia? Yeah, it’s coming home. And not quietly, either.
You probably remember the removal last December. Tucked neatly between headlines about inflation, border chaos, and the latest round of DEI appointments, the Pentagon quietly took down the Reconciliation Monument — a 109-year-old sculpture commissioned in an era of healing, built by Moses Ezekiel, a Jewish-American Civil War veteran who also happened to be buried nearby.
No debate. No vote. Just poof — gone.
Why? Because the monument dared to acknowledge that, after the bloodiest war in American history, some people believed in moving forward. Because it honored Confederate dead not as heroes, but as fellow Americans buried on U.S. soil. Because it referenced reconciliation — something that apparently doesn’t fit in today’s progressive glossary.
This was not a monument celebrating slavery, or glorifying rebellion. This was a tribute to lives lost. A monument built at the direct approval of a future U.S. president — William Howard Taft — placed beside the graves of over 400 Confederate soldiers, meant to symbolize national healing.
*The reports of Hegseth's demise have been greatly exaggerated.

"This is about a battle for how America remembers its past — and who gets to control that narrative."

That is true. And this administration is exploring their power for all they can.

"This was not a monument celebrating slavery, or glorifying rebellion. This was a tribute to lives lost. A monument built at the direct approval of a future U.S. president — William Howard Taft — placed beside the graves of over 400 Confederate soldiers, meant to symbolize national healing. The kind of healing we now seem incapable of."

Placed beside the graves of Confederate soldiers it pays" tribute" to their lives lost in the fight for slavery.

How does that bring healing?

If we are now incapable of healing it is because of moves like this that do keep the wounds open.

German proposal for ten bishops to defy Rome and ordain 50 married men as priests

Fr. Longenecker is a married Catholic priest who married, was ordained an Episcopalian, then became Catholic, and then was ordained a Catholic priest serving a diocese. My local Ordinariate priest married, went to seminary, became a Catholic priest, and serves the Ordinariate. Eastern Rite Catholics are often served by married priests. It happens now. It's not a particularly bad thing. If it could diminish the Lavender Mafia it would be a good thing.
Yeah, I think it’s ok under certain circumstances.

Mortal Sin?

Ewww.... some people just don't know how to read a room. We had a visiting (much older) priest once who told the joke (DURING THE HOMILY): Men open car doors for two occasions.... once to get in it themselves and two to let their mistress in.

This happened 10+ years ago, I have no idea what the homily was about, but I remember how horrified I was that a priest would tell a horrible joke like during Mass.
Wow. I have no words!

ICE Lodges Detainer for Venezuelan Tren de Aragua Affiliate Gang Member Charged in Killing of Woman in Sanctuary City of Aurora, Colorado

And it only took ICE rounding up and deporting hundreds with clean records to find this guy.
ICE didn't find him. Local police found him after he committed a crime (as is their job).

Since she didn’t post anything to support that opinion she was expressing, that is your own personal opinion that likely doesn’t bear itself out in truth.
I am not referring to Fantine but to the replacement of the monument.
