More Leftist Terrorism

Six more Antifa members were arrested in Atlanta after violent rioting and are being charged with domestic terrorism. Riots began after one of their own shot and seriously wounded a Georgia State police officer. When the police returned fire and killed the Antifa member, rich, white liberals poured into the streets, even from other states, to set fire to the city.

Sending tanks to Ukraine

German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock said Berlin would not stand in the way if Poland decides to send Leopard tanks to Ukraine. French President Emmanuel Macron did not rule out sending heavy tanks to Ukraine.

News are coming in that Germany is now sending Leopard tanks to Ukraine

How is it consistent to criticize the left for hating America AND not having an objective morality ?

I am not being cute, I honestly don't get it.
I get attacked for saying I think murder is wrong but I don't think murder is objectively wrong.
I am told I cannot really think murder is wrong if I don't think there is a God that objects to murder.
After attacking me the same person will make complaints about the people that "Hate America" and it is clear that someone that
thinks "Atheists cannot really believe murder is wrong because they cannot believe anything" do actually think "Atheists believe America is wrong"
W
Wrath&Grace
By atheism definition naturally the law and code of ethics lie on nothing pertaining to ultimate objectivity.

Dmitri Karamazov: "If God is not, then all is permissible". And Vice President at the Atheist Society at Cornell University in 2012 asserted that right & wrong is subjective to each individial, just we collectively objectify our subjections. Except for murderers.

Does that make sense?

5-hour workday!

Apparently they are contemplating implementing this! They either want to implement 5-hour workdays or have 8-hour workdays but only 4 days per week, everyone would have 3 days off per week! They already have only 6-hour workdays in France and Sweden and their societies still manage to function, studies are showing people are much happier and more productive when they do this! French people get 6-hour workdays, a mandatory long lunch break, and a mandatory 30 days of paid vacation per year! They are able to do this without their society becoming completely unglued!
Could A 5-Hour Workday Boost Well-Being And Productivity?

How do you know you are a Christian?

It is easy to think you are a Christian, but really not be born again. have heard of "fake Christians" and people who say they left Christianity. I have read it is a one-and-done deal because God does not take your salvation away, but also that repentance is required for salvation.

How do you know you personally are born again and will go to heaven?

Look at all of the fake so called believers around you. You know that you are saved if you have been regenerated by the Holy Spirit. And you can see that God has done a work in your life of sanctification. The people that are saved say they are because they did something, I hope you see that my friend.

My brain got killed again

I don't know if I can live that long if my brain keeps getting killed over the same topics with my dad.

I have been given proper advice of remaining steadfast in my faith so that my dad would realize that I'm serious about it and back off. Instead it has the opposite effect.

It no longer matters if it's "good intentions" on his part. You know what they say about good intentions. My brain feels dead from the same exhausting conversations with him. My gosh I'm in my 40s, do I have to wait until I'm 65 to finally feel free to think what I want without reprimand? I won't have too many years left until dementia starts kicking in and I will realize that I've never been myself.

He and I do calm down and there's moments of rationality between us, but then the stuff hits the fan again. We do not fight, however. I call it "friendly biching" (censored) but even then, it takes a toll.

I wouldn't write a thread unless I were feeling really, really lousy right now. If I were to write a thread every time these kinds of discussions happened, you would never be able to see any of Michie's posts.

This Controversial German Bishop May Soon Be Vatican’s Doctrinal Head

Bishop Heiner Wilmer, who has been a vocal backer of the German Synodal Way’s most controversial proposals, is reportedly Pope Francis’s ‘probable’ pick to head the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith.

Just weeks ago, the appointment of a controversial German bishop to the influential role of prefect of the Dicastery of the Doctrine of the Faith was reportedly blocked by concerned cardinals, who urged Pope Francis against the appointment, Now, Bishop Heiner Wilmer is once again reported to be the Holy Father’s pick to head the Vatican’s office for doctrine.

Bishop Wilmer, who heads the German Diocese of Hildesheim and lamented four months ago that the German Synodal Way failed to approve text calling for radical changes to Church teaching on sexuality, was reportedly under strong consideration by Pope Francis to succeed Cardinal Luis Ladaria as the prefect for the Dicastery of the Doctrine of the Faith back in December. But an intervention from a number of high-ranking prelates, including, allegedly, the late Cardinal George Pell, questioned the doctrinal soundness of Bishop Wilmer, and reportedly dissuaded the Pope from moving forward with the selection — at least temporarily.

Now, according to the traditionalist Italian website Messa In Latino, Bishop Wilmer’s candidacy is under strong consideration by the Holy Father once more. An open letter from the website’s editorial board to Pope Francis describes Bishop Wilmer’s appointment as “probable.”

Pope Francis’s reported interest in Bishop Wilmer comes in the midst of the Vatican’s ongoing standoff with the German episcopacy over the controversial Synodal Way, a non-binding process in the German Catholic Church that is seeking heterodoxical changes to ecclesial governance, sacramental ordination, and teaching on sexuality.

Metropolitan Tikhon Visits Mexico! with pictures

Last week, His Beatitude Metropolitan Tikhon of the OCA concluded his pastoral visit to the OCA's Diocese of Mexico. Traditionally, the metropolitan visits every January, however this didn't happen the last few years because of covid related travel restrictions. His Beatitude was accompanied by His Eminences Archbishop Benjamin of San Fracisco and the West and Alejo of Mexico City and Mexico as well as some staff from the central administration of the OCA and a priest who served as translator (please keep Vladika Benjamin in your prayers, his Parkinson's is not well and he may have to retire sooner then intended).

While in Mexico, Vladika Tikhon made Padre Jose an archpriest (I met him at the All-American Council, good guy) and two people were tonsured readers. The real highlight, in my opinion, was the progress made on the Academia Pastoral Ortodoxa San Basilio (Orthodox Pastoral Academy of St Basil the Great) which is currently under construction in Hidalgo state north of Mexico City - the US equivalent would likely be like building something in Maryland. The academy graduated its first catechetical course for children and the students were presented with certificates. I believe a pastoral academy is one rank below a seminary and the plan is to educate laymen, readers, and subdeacons for the time being. In time, they will train deacons and priests.

As one can see, Orthodoxy continues to grow in Mexico. The OCA's diocese has parishes from as far north as Tijuana bordering the US to as far south as Chiapas bordering Guatemala with the bulk of them in the central parts of the country. A lot of Hispanics across Latin America are unhappy with the Catholic Church and are therefore leaving in droves usually towards Evangelicalism. However, there are many who desire a traditional way of worship and wisely turn to the Orthodox Church instead. The OCA's diocese there uses Spanish along with some indigenous languages unlike the other jurisdictions which will use Arabic, Greek and Russian sometimes imposing their cultural ways onto the Mexican people. Having met Vladika Alejo, some of the clergy, and some of the laity during the last All-American Council I will say this: what the Mexican Orthodox lack in wealth and resources, they more then make up for 1000 times over in faith and sincerity of faith.

This is all over twitter right now, apparently it’s only available in Italian right now and people are highly suspicious of why there’s no English copy available. Hopefully a good willed Catholic out there will translate it as soon as possible. If that happens I’ll definitely get one. The title translates as “What is Christianity?”

Daniel 12

.

The Bible PROMISES in Daniel 12
the TRUTH about Daniel's prophecies would remain "closed-up" and "sealed" to all the Saints
until the Last Saints "shall understand" (and preach) that TRUTH during the "Time-of-the-End".

Dan 12:8-10
And I heard, but I understood not: then said I, O my Lord, what shall be the end of these things?
And he said, Go thy way, Daniel: for
the words are CLOSED UP AND SEALED till the TIME-OF-THE-END.
Many [Last Saints] shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly:
and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise
[Last Saints] SHALL UNDERSTAND.

Dan 12:4
But thou, O Daniel,
SHUT UP the words, and SEAL the book, even to the TIME-OF-THE-END:
many
[Last Saints] shall run to and fro, and knowledge [of the TRUTH] SHALL BE INCREASED [to the Last Saints].

This means at least two (2) things:

(1) EVERY old interpretation about Daniel's prophecies MUST BE WRONG because they were developed
during a period when the Bible PROMISES the TRUTH remained "closed-up" and "sealed"...
old interpretations could not be the TRUTH.

(2) At the "Time-of-the-End" knowledge "shall be increased" to the Last Saints
as they "shall understand" (and preach) the TRUTH that was "sealed".
This event is, in itself, a "sign" of the Lord's Return.

Here is what Daniel's Four "Beasts" or "Kingdoms" represent,
as preached by the Last Saints in this "Time-of-the-End"

(1) The (1st) Pre-Flood Kingdom of Saints from Adam to Noah

(2) The (2nd) Jewish "Kingdom of Heaven" [Mat 22:2] of Old Testament Saints

(3) The (3rd) the Christian "Kingdom of Heaven" [Mat 12, 7 verses] of Great Commission Saints BEFORE the Last Saint is "sealed" (saved)

(4) The (4th) the Great Tribulation "Kingdom of Heaven" [Mat 25:1] on earth AFTER the Last Saint is saved. [Rev 7:1-3]

This TRUTH harmonizes with all Scripture and the historical record (reality).

This TRUTH about Daniel's prophecies was NEVER PREACHED by any Saint until preached by the Last Saints.
That is a matter of historical record and it's exactly what the Bible PROMISED.

Is the "Fair Tax" Fair?

All federal taxes would be replaced by a 23% national sales tax. Everyone would get a "rebate" of the amount of sales taxes for purchases up to the poverty level, so that necessities would not be taxed.

This article gives a good analysis of the fair tax.

One concern of mine is that it would strike a death knell for many small businesses which provide personal service but can't compete on price with Wal-Mart.

We would become a nation of bottom-feeders, searching for rock bottom prices for whatever we buy. Everyone would be waiting for clearance sales. No one would pay full price.

Let's look at book stores, for example. Lots of people believe in shopping at small town book stores, but Amazon charges about 30% less. A $20 book under the new plan would be $24.60 at the full price bookstore. At Amazon it would be $16.98. The $6 price difference would become $7.38.

Multiply that by everything you buy.

I recently flew to Florida on Allegiant Airlines. $117 round trip (astonishing.) On most airlines it would be $383. Now add 23% to each of those totals.

Basically, if you pay the higher price, you are also paying 23% on the higher price.

In addition, of course, it's inequitable.

What is your impression of street preachers, especially on college campuses?

Do you think they're wasting their time? What things about the person would you quickly size up before deciding to stop and listen, assuming you didn't have a class to get to right away? Why campuses? 1) high foot traffic, and 2) you're getting them while they're young, before they've spent their entire adult lives outside the will of God.

I did a youtube search, and have listened to about 4 of them, not at all impressed. One leaned against a poll (not on a college campus, just a city street), stared down reading scripture the whole time with a "don't bother me" attitude. A news reporter tried to talk to him, and was put on ignore.

Another was constantly moving up and down the sidewalk, yelling and winging it with nonsensical random stuff, even with amplification equipment.

I personally witnessed the protesting of a liberal church by so-called street preachers, ON Easter Sunday, as people arrived for church and got out of their cars. I didn't see the point. The only people that their megaphone was reaching, were not going to change. Their leader videotaped it, uploaded it to youtube, but later took it down.

Another was addressing a small handful of students who were engaging him in back and forth random conversation that didn't look like anyone could possibly be saved.

Sometimes I think these guys just want to hear themselves talk, or thinking they're engaging in good works, even if they don't produce fruit. None sounded remotely similar to good pastors giving sermons in hopes that people would come back to hear more.

I'm thinking about doing it, focusing on college campuses, telling them what I think everyone needs to hear, using a prepared script that presents important Biblical concepts and God's plan for salvation, focusing on what it means to 'follow Jesus,' to be exclusively saved in a lost and dying world, and live godly lives, not worldly lives. I would quote scripture mixed in throughout.

The emphasis would be on getting people to read their Bible - 'at least try it,' (i.e. Genesis at a minimum), to know about the fall of man, God's wrath, the great flood, and the patriarchs, emphasizing the 'character and nature of God,' then skim across other books, quoting scripture along the way, letting God take over from there.

I'm not looking to be confrontational or single people out amongst the crowd as that would interrupt and distract from my message. I've already started typing out what I want to say, and hope to keep it no longer than 30 minutes so that anyone who stops to listen wouldn't have to be there that long. Attention spans are often short. The timing would likely be around lunch time or late afternoon, or both, when there's the most foot traffic due to morning or afternoon classes being finished, and students not having someplace they have to be in the next 10 minutes.

I'm not sure how far I'd travel to get to colleges, but would like to go out of state, and eventually be a non-profit in order to do fundraising to help with expenses, so if anyone has experience running a 501(c) and can guide me along, it could help. I wouldn't even begin spending time raising finances to cover costs like gasoline, without having done it for awhile and being able to give examples of my work being productive. I'd expect to have a youtube channel to make access to what's being done an open book for all prospective donors, and anyone else for that matter, to watch.

Based on viewership, I wouldn't expect many views of my uploads cause even the best of preachers, preaching excellent sermons, don't get that many channel subscribers and views, unfortunately. But they sure do a great job of fundraising for their churches and mission causes. So do the many professional praise teams making records, like Hillsong. They fill auditoriums with concert goers, and reach a lot of people worldwide. Frankly, I don't know why there aren't more preachers out in public air, instead of just focusing on who comes to church on Sunday, as they edify to souls that are already saved. Unless it's a very large church with an alter call and 'sinners prayer,' (i.e. "repeat after me.....), they often do 'invitations' without anyone accepting, cause the people there aren't hearing anything new.
I want people to hear something new, that most pastors are not preaching, even to their church-going flocks. But I don't want to waste time either.

So back to the original question....what do you think of street preachers? Do you know any who have successfully done it? What makes a good one? Could you see yourself doing it? Why or why not? I've toyed with the idea for years, and am more strongly motivated now due to misguided non-truth I'm hearing, in more and more stunning, unbelievable churches. If people don't hear the truth from somewhere, they may never hear it, and the Bible says that ideally, we aren't suppose to just think of heaven being for us, but to try and take some people with us. That's why I chose this category to post in, about following Jesus and discipleship. I'm looking forward to seeing people I knew on earth, once I get there. The more the merrier, especially if I had a hand in them being there when they may not have been otherwise. The fact that people's lives are made better by God before they die seems like icing on the cake.

Charismatic or "charismania"?

The problem is that "charismania" groups and Prosperity preachers have departed from the simplicity of the true Gospel of Christ. They no longer have their full trust in the finished work of Christ on the Cross and repentance from sin. They have replaced it with a mystical "experience" they call "heaven coming to earth" (as Bill Johnson teaches). Part of this experience are the kundalini manifestations we see in their services, confusion of tongues in public services, false prophecies that either say nothing, or made up of false promises that are never fulfilled. So, because of their departure from the Gospel of Christ, the Holy Spirit has been replaced by a "strange fire" spirit, and has opened the door for spirits that are not of God to invade. The deception is that these people don't know the difference between the Holy Spirit and the strange fire. Another feature is that holiness of life is not so important, and many still have sin in their lives. So it is common for "charismania" people to be involved in immorality, fornication, adultery, porn, consequently we have seen prominent ministries fall from grace as their dishonesty and immorality has been revealed for all to see. This is why those false "word of knowledge" ministries can use facebook profiles and pre-interviews of attendees to their meetings to make it appear they are having "words of knowledge", deceiving their listeners. The tragedy is that they think they are doing nothing wrong. Their consciences are seared so they don't see the evil of what they are doing. The real tragedy is that they are deceiving good people to think that they are the true Charismatic movement when in reality they are a "charismania" heresy.

Infinite Crime and Punishment

A common rationalisation for Eternal Conscious Torment (ECT) is that the punishment for crimes against God must be eternal because God is eternal.

By this logic, a crime against a 100-year-old should be punished with a 100-year prison sentence, and stealing a baby's rattle should carry a sentence of no more than twelve months.

Do Infernalists believe this and, if not, why not. Is it because there's something wrong with the logic?

Let's be spiritual Fonzies here and keep it cool.

Testing waters

I'm just curious about something, I know the age demographics may not necessarily apply here in OBOB but I've been observing since I got to EWTN the kind of content we produce across the network and the audience we usually target. We tend to target the 50+ crowd because they make up the bulk of our donor base that keeps the lights on.

Not to be glib, but they won't be around forever. The network executives seem resistant to introducing new content and styles, however starting in March the news division will have a new president who may be open to suggestions for what's produced out of the DC bureau.

I'm curious what you guys think if EWTN added shows from popular Catholic podcasters like Timothy Flanders, Eric Sammons, Brian Holdsworth, etc. Their podcast shows tend to focus on developments coming out of the Vatican and to various extents both secular and ecclesiastic developments in the US and abroad. If any of these guys were given shows kind of like Tucker Carlson would do you think Catholics under 40-50 would watch?

I'll say this: they have good sized audiences on the web, I imagine they'd bring a lot of them to the new platform and probably add more given the higher profile nature of EWTN.

What do you think?

Tennessee Declines Federal Funding for HIV/AIDS Testing, Prevention and Treatment

The Tennessee Department of Health says it will no longer accept federal grant money to prevent or treat HIV.

In an email reviewed by NBC News, the Department of Health told certain nonprofit organizations that provide these services that the state would turn down the federal funding as of June, relying only on state funds afterward. "It is in the best interest of Tennesseans for the State to assume direct financial and managerial response for these services," the email read.

When asked for comment by NBC News, a spokesperson for the Department of Health said that "the letter speaks for itself."

An estimated 20,000 people in Tennessee are living with HIV, though not all would be affected by the cuts. There was no further guidance on how the state planned to fund such programs on its own.

---

Why would anyone give up free money* to help save lives? Because they are pro-life of course.

According to a letter from Planned Parenthood, Tennessee’s Department of Health in November alerted the organization that it would no longer receive HIV prevention grants starting in 2023, as well as warn that the state was terminating its partnership with Planned Parenthood to provide HIV testing.

Church search woes

Hi, it’s been a long time since I posted on here- life and family get in the way a bit!

Anyway, we’ve recently relocated to Northern Ireland and have been trying to find a new spiritual home. I’m trying not to let the perfect become the enemy of the good, but it’s getting me down that there isn’t somewhere obvious to slot into. Without going too much into specifics (don’t want to cause any inter-denominational strife in the comments!) we’re quite conservative and finding we’re drifting farther from mainstream culture the closer we get to God. We’d like somewhere we can have fellowship with like-minded Christians and receive good, solid teaching. We’d also like to not be the only family with young kids in the building but don’t want a big church where we get lost in the crowd. Big denominations worry me as I keep seeing stuff going on at the head which I find concerning (eg Church of England bishops and their recent moves on same sex relationships) but small non-denominational churches worry me too as the ones I’ve come across tend to be less… grounded. Not sure how to put that better but can clarify in the comments if it doesn’t make sense.

Anyway, I’m not expecting any specific suggestions (though if you’ve got an amazing church in North Antrim let me know and I’ll check it out) but I’d appreciate some advice on how to find a church- what should we look for/try to avoid?
