Amid Biden’s Abortion Push, Pro-Lifers in New Congress Face Challenge of Defending Life in a Post-Roe Climate

Speaking with the Register, the House and Senate pro-life caucus chairs discuss how they are seeking to advance the pro-life cause in 2023’s changed political and legal context.

WASHINGTON — Pro-lifers in the new 118th Congress continue to face an uphill battle as the Biden administration and pro-abortion lawmakers have made it clear that advancing abortion access is a priority following the Supreme Court’s overturning of Roe v. Wade.

In response, pro-life lawmakers are looking to block these efforts to expand abortion access, expose Democratic lawmakers’ extremism, and educate on the issue.

“We are in a new era, fresh off victory in Dobbs and energized for what comes next,” wrote Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., this week.

The pro-life Republican majority in the U.S. House of Representatives started the year out by sending a clear message on the issue with the passage of two key pieces of legislation. The first was the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which would require that medical care be provided to an infant born alive after a failed abortion. That measure passed with a vote of 220 to 210 with one Democrat, Rep. Henry Cuellar of Texas, crossing the aisle to support it.

Why don't Christians practice what they preach?

One big reason many people decide to stop being Christians is they only witness Christians acting badly, showing off a lot of hate and disrespect despite believing God is love and the commandment, "Love your neighbor as yourself," that came straight out of the Lord's mouth. These people are right sometimes, like when talking about Christians voting for someone who was known to rape girlfriends while married, paid them to have abortions, and abandoned his own kids, instead of a sexually moral pastor who would do whatever it takes to help girls and women not need or be paid to get abortions. While a lot of Christians in Georgia were voting for the sexually immoral candidate, Christians nationwide said sex education should never be taught in schools. Not just LGBT sexuality, but also all contraception, which obviously would prevent hundreds of thousands of abortions every year, and sexual anatomy. So instead of following through on their verbal condemnation of abortion, they endorsed it on Election Day. And it is true that many Christians get abortions despite knowing it is a sin. The same is true for many other Christian issues and I will address them later. I am starting with this one because it is the most obvious and hypocritical example of Christians not practicing what they preach.

Was Yeshua lying about what the Holy Spirit would do?

NOTE: Please read the whole OP and not just answer to the title. If you can't do that then please refrain from taking part, thank you.

From the gospel of John, the one trusted with the Revelation of Yeshua we read that
After dinner the night before the crucifixion this is part of the conversation Yeshua had with the chosen 12.

Chapter 14

14:16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.
---------------------
From this I get that Yeshua is a Comforter and when he left he would ask the Father to send them another comforter to be with them forever.
This I believe was his Spirit, the Spirit of Truth which is the spirit of Yeshua but not his bodily form which resides in heaven.
----------------------

Chapter 15

15:26 But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:
27 And ye also shall bear witness, because ye have been with me from the beginning.
------------
From this I get that the comforter being sent is directly from the Father, that Spirit of Truth, and he will testify of Yeshua, the Spirit of Truth will , not Yeshua in any form. This would be a second witness to Yeshua as these men have been with him all the time.
They were given the commission to be witnesses of him because they had been with him since the beginning.
------------------------

Chapter 16

16:7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.
8 And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:
9 Of sin, because they believe not on me;
10 Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more;
11 Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.
12 I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.
-------------
These things would be taught by the Comforter later on.
-------------
Chapter 16 cont.

13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth:
for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
14 He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.
15 All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.
----------------------------------
Yeshua is emphatic here that when the Comforter comes who is the 'Spirit of Truth' will guide Them into ALL truth, nothing shall be hid from them then. Everything that the Father has given him the Comforter shall take it and share it with them, including prophecy of things to come.

Three times Yeshua speaks of this Comforter which is very telling anytime something is repeated 3x the LORD is saying 'PAY ATTENTION!' SHEMA!

How do you represent Christianity to new age "spiritual" people (Yoga, meditation, etc)

I'm really shocked at how pervasive "spiritual" thinking is today. Even in many churches they have yoga classes. Now of course there are many degrees of yoga spirituality and hopefully they are doing just the movements. But it used to be that way with almost all yoga classes. Now it seems most are quite openly spiritual. If you look at many holiday destinations it would be hard to find a single one that is in a nature setting that isn't heavily bent on new age mysticism. Its so colossally widespread. And they're doing it because of the money. They don't have to provide much and can charge a whopping amount. Satan helps them contrive an enticing resort experience. It seems like half the people online are "life coaches" and so often they are involved in mysticism and spirituality and by spirituality I am not talking about the Holy Spirit. No, when they pray they pray to "the universe", not even thinking how absurd this is. Do we talk to empty space? Why would we pray to something we can't even identify? Every one has a different opinion of who they are praying to. They know it has many parallels to Hinduism yet won't admit it. They want a feel good spiritual experience where there are few of any rules. Sound familiar?

So how do you approach someone like this? Because they are really convinced of the truth in their beliefs. Another factor is the physicality of a lot of new age activities. It can shape their bodies very well so they retain their youth far better than most Christians and everyone else. But this is merely exercise and anyone can exercise. (We should encourage exercise FAR more in our churches, people. Christians should set a fine example. Instead most are just as obese and lethargic as everyone else.) My point is they have a mental state where "everything is OK and good and peaceful" and a phyiscal state where they feel physically very good. How do you talk to someone like this? Of course later in life they revert back to where they were before and realize it was a huge waste of time. Hopefully they still exercise though. But in the meantime they are convinced of this authenticity.

What's the oldest book you own?

I've been undertaking some research so I can do my own Medieval Fantasy story, and I've recently bought some books to read. One subject proved hard to find good quality books for, and that was the subject of Kiev Rūs, which is a period of Medieval Russian history, and... boy let me tell you, it is hard to find good quality and cheap books on that subject.
And in the process, I ended up going to a website called World of Books and buying a book titled "The Culture of Kiev Rūs" by Academician B.D. Grecov. Not had time to read it yet because of post-work stuff, but I have to say, it is lovely to look at:

4a5c5ff9ff0d80c9fadb257e9742d4905405d5cf.jpg

But I had no idea of WHEN this book was published until after I bought it.

It was published in 1947. Grekov didn't first publish the book until 1944, so this is likely one of THE first English editions of the book. Which makes it THE oldest book I own.

So I have to wonder... does anyone else own a really old book, or a first edition book?

It must be quite exciting to own something with such historical significance. I don't personally own any really old or first edition books. If you have any specific writing questions, please ask! There are excellent writers available to assist you bit.ly/3C9eMwX. Do you have any other unique or valuable books in your collection?

Make Birth Free: A Vision for Congress to Empower American Mothers, Families, and Communities

A comprehensive program to Make Birth Free would also reduce pregnancy and childbirth costs overall, making the program more cost-effective over time. This is because many of the sticker costs associated with pregnancy and childbirth result from misaligned financial incentives for healthcare providers.

Covid 19 policy

Oddly, I see as part of the policy for this forum, that any posts that deny the existence of Covid-19 will not be tolerated. I find this interesting in that I was banned from Rapture.com's forum for just talking about Covid 19. As if that wasn't enough, they then turned around sold my contact information to micro marketers for profit. I couldn't believe it!! A so called trusted source of information censored me, banned me and then violated there own ethics policies for money. Yes I have proof, this is all true if anyone cares to see. This is so sad, great articles from Damien Duck, Jan Markell and others... as I will never use that site ever again.
Regardless, it gave me some hope to see a policy statement that wont tolerate what other (self proclaiming) Christian sites are banning people for.

Sola Fide

The Catholic Church teaches that faith in Jesus Christ is necessary for salvation, but it is not the only necessary element. The Catholic Church teaches that good works and sacraments, such as baptism and the Eucharist, are also necessary for salvation. This is in contrast to the doctrine of sola fide, or "faith alone," which teaches that faith is the only necessary element for salvation.

Scripture references that support the Catholic teaching on salvation include James 2:24, which states, "You see that a person is justified by works and not by faith alone." Additionally, Matthew 25:31-46, the parable of the sheep and the goats, teaches that salvation is based on the good works that a person has done.

In summary, Catholic Church teaches that faith, good works, and sacraments are all necessary for salvation, while sola fide only emphasizes the importance of faith alone.

What is a successful (good) creation for God?

At the consummation of all things, what does success look like for God's creation? We have three options that have been believed by various Christians throughout the history of Christian faith.

Eternal life/Eternal damnation (Augustine): In this scenario, God succeeds in saving some rational souls for eternal life through Christ. However, God does not eliminate evil in all but perpetuates it by preserving those who willfully reject God in eternal torment. Conclusion: Failure since sin and evil, found in those rational souls that reject their ultimate good, persists for all eternity by God's will.

Eternal life/Annihilation (Arnobius of Sicca): In this scenario, God succeeds in saving some for eternal life through Christ and eliminating evil in rational souls. However, this elimination of evil includes the annihilation of some rational souls who willfully reject their ultimate good. Conclusion: Partial success since the result is the elimination of evil in rational souls but God loses some of God's good creation by destroying it.

Eternal life/Universal restoration (Gregory of Nyssa): In this scenario, God succeeds in saving all for eternal life through Christ. Some are saved in this life and others in the age to come through the remedial punishment of divine love until all rational souls reject sin and evil, willfully bending the knee and confessing Christ as Lord, after which Christ will hand the consummated kingdom over and God will be all in all. Conclusion: Complete success since God succeeds in eliminating all evil in all rational souls and saving all of God's good creation.

Note: It should be noted that Nyssa (the Pillar of Orthodoxy and Father of Fathers) taught the complete and absolute elimination of evil through reconciliation in Christ without destroying good. "Evil must necessarily be eliminated, absolutely and in every respect, once and for all" (On the Soul and Resurrection 101).

"For, thanks to all the respects in which Christ has mixed with humanity, having passed through all that is proper to the human nature, birth, nourishment, growth, and having gone as far as the trial of death, he has accomplished all the tasks I have mentioned, both liberating the human being from evil and healing even the inventor of evilness." (Great Catechetical Oration 26).

It seems clear that divine success at the consummation can only be the universal restoration of all. Anything short of that ranges from failure to partial success. Eternal damnation means that God wilfully perpetuates evil for eternity. Annihilation means God loses some of God's good creation. Do you agree or disagree?

Producers and consumers

Musk tells us on TED that he can produce a million dollars a min. He said that there is an axiomatic flaw where people see him as a consumer when he is not a consumer at all. Socialism is a system where one group produces and gives it to another group to consume. You have a group of people who produce nothing of what they want to consume. This is against the teachings of Paul in the Bible. Musk feels that within 10 years he will increase protection to where there will be plenty for all.

He does have an airplane but for the most part, he sold off all that he has. He has rich friends who let him use their property. He is working on an AI artificial intelligence that can produce income the same way he does. I was always raised to produce more than I consume so we can have an abundance. So we can invest what we can produce above and beyond our needs.

Musk does tell a story of a half hour meeting where an investor gave him 100 million dollars. So he is not limited to only being able to generate one million per minute of his time

New Jerusalem Tour

Revelation 21 and 22 are devoted to the sign of New Jerusalem. She is the final destiny of all the saved and the climax of God's work.
It is for New Jerusalem that everything God planned and did in the Bible and in the universe.
She is something all believers should see so we may know what God is after and why we were created. In factevery one should know.
And it should not be some esoteric hidden knowledge of a few.

This is the climax and the culmination of the sixty-six books of the Bible.
This is the conclusion and finale of all of God's work.

First, John was carried up to agreat and high mountain. We have to go higher. We cannot remain on a low plain.
To see the climax we have to be carried to a high point spiritually, to see our ultimate destination.
We start to see this ultimate sign by being brought higher.

"And one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls full of the seven last plagues came and spoke with me, saying, Come here;
I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb. And he carried me away in spirit onto a great and high mountain and showed me the holy city, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God." (Rev. 21:9,10)

He had to go up and go high in spirit to see the sign. On a low plain no one can see well what the eterenal purpose of God is.
It is hard to see if all a Christian cares about is not being sinful and glad that they individually are saved.
As Moses went up to the top of Mt. Pisgah get a panaramic view of the Good Land so we must come to the "high peak" of God's revelation to see New Jerusalem.

People who met Jesus in our time (divine experiences)

Goodday everyone,

I recently listened to a Danish podcast about people here in Denmark who had real
encounters with Jesus Christ in our time. One woman saw a pillar of light when walking
her dog one early winter morning. The pillar beamed down into her forehead and she could
feel the love of God in her after. She was not a spiritual person before this experience.
People at work started calling her "the lightbulb" in the time after because she was actually glowing and felt so loved.

Another person, a man saw Jesus visit him through the window at work in the sunlight. He could easily tell it was Jesus.
He told in detail how Jesus looked. Jesus was slightly taller than the man who was about 1,75 cm in height.
He had bleached hairs on his feet and a little dirt between his feet. The man didn't share this experience with his friends.

There's a healer here in Denmark who heals people through God. A true story: a little boy was born with one half
of his brain missing. The parents, desperate, went to the healer who asked the audience that was present that
they all prayed for the boy to get well.
After, doctors scanned the boys brain once again, and miraculously the missing half of the brain was no longer missing.
He had a normal brain, and the doctors, of course were speechless.

I'm planning to visit the healer (his name is Hans Bernzen) in July. I have a problem with a painful deformity of my ribcage and back.
Please, If you would pray for me and also my friend who comes with me. He suffers with mental problems and anxiety.

Sorry if this is in the wrong forum, I'm new and wasn't sure where to post.

God bless you all

They've Rejected the Word of The Lord

Jeremiah 8:4-7 ESV

“You shall say to them, Thus says the Lord:
When men fall, do they not rise again?
If one turns away, does he not return?
Why then has this people turned away
in perpetual backsliding?
They hold fast to deceit;
they refuse to return.
I have paid attention and listened,
but they have not spoken rightly;
no man relents of his evil,
saying, ‘What have I done?’
Everyone turns to his own course,
like a horse plunging headlong into battle.
Even the stork in the heavens
knows her times,
and the turtledove, swallow, and crane
keep the time of their coming,
but my people know not
the rules of the Lord.”

Now the children of Israel of old were in a unique situation. They were the children of God by physical birth as physical descendants of Abraham and Sarah. They were God’s covenant people up until the time that Jesus Christ sacrificed his life on that cross for our sins. Now God’s covenant people are those believing in Jesus Christ to be Lord and Savior of their lives, who have been crucified with Christ in death to sin and who have been raised with Christ to walk in newness of life in him (Romans 6:1-23).

But being physical descendants of Abraham did not save them from their sins, and it did not guarantee them eternal life with God, which is evidenced when we read Hebrews 3 and 4. They had to believe in God and in the promised seed of Abraham, Jesus Christ their Messiah, and they had to forsake their sins and obey God. For God sees obedience as faith and disobedience as unbelief, both then and now. And that is why we have these warnings in 1 Corinthians 10 and in Hebrews 3 and 4 to not be like most of them who wandered in the wilderness but who did not enter into God’s eternal rest because of disobedience – because of unbelief.

Now today we are God’s people by faith in Jesus Christ, but there are many false sheep among the true sheep, too, who profess to be God’s children. And there are many true sheep who have fallen back into sin and who are in need to repent of their sins and to begin following Jesus in obedience again. And so this passage of Scripture could be applied to both the false sheep and the wandering sheep, too. For we can take this as a lament against all who profess the name of Jesus but who by their actions deny him.

For this is a true picture of the majority of those calling themselves Christians here in America. So many are living just like the world, doing and watching the same things that the ungodly of the world do and view. And they are not repenting of their sins, for the most part, and they are not turning to or returning to obedient walks of faith in Jesus Christ. But they are living in perpetual backsliding, making sin their practice. And righteousness and obedience to the Lord Jesus are not their practice.

And, yes, many are holding to their deceit, and they are refusing to surrender their lives completely to Jesus Christ, and they are holding on to their pet sins and are not willing to let them go. And so many of them seem to have no conscience about how they are living, either, as though they think that God’s grace will just cover it all. They have no fear of God before their eyes. And they ignore the Lord’s commands (New Covenant), for they don’t want to have to obey them. And many are convinced they don’t have to obey them, but they aren’t totally ignorant of them.

Jeremiah 8:8-11 ESV

“How can you say, ‘We are wise,
and the law of the Lord is with us’?
But behold, the lying pen of the scribes
has made it into a lie.
The wise men shall be put to shame;
they shall be dismayed and taken;
behold, they have rejected the word of the Lord,
so what wisdom is in them?
Therefore I will give their wives to others
and their fields to conquerors,
because from the least to the greatest
everyone is greedy for unjust gain;
from prophet to priest,
everyone deals falsely.
They have healed the wound of my people lightly,
saying, ‘Peace, peace,’
when there is no peace.”

There are many people professing faith in Jesus Christ who are proud of their biblical knowledge and/or of their positions of leadership in institutional churches and of their commitments to those ICs and to their church attendance. But they are not followers of the truth of the gospel. They are followers of the lies of humans who are telling them what their itching ears want to hear. For they like those smooth-talking preachers who are telling them that they can pray a prayer or make some public acknowledgement of Christ as Savior and Lord, and now all their sins are forgiven and heaven is guaranteed them when they die, regardless of how they live.

They want to believe the lying pens and preachers who are telling them that they don’t have to repent of their sins, and that they don’t have to follow Jesus in obedience, and that God requires nothing of them other than to “believe” in Jesus, which is rarely defined as to what “belief” means. They like the lies that tell them that God can no longer see their sin, and that when he looks at them all he sees is Jesus. And so if they are engrossed in sin, and they begin to feel guilt or shame, they are being told to just claim who they are in Christ, and then they won’t feel guilty for their sin.

But so many preachers are lying to their people, and they are giving them assurances of God’s love and grace and of heaven when they die but while they are not telling them that if they continue living in sinful rebellion against the Lord that they will die in their sins. They will not have eternal life with God. For we must walk (in conduct, in practice) no longer according to the flesh but now according to the Spirit, and we must daily die to sin and to self and follow Jesus in obedience to his commands. But they don’t want to tell them the truth, because they may stop going to their “churches.”

So, if you are believing the lies, and you are convinced that you can go to heaven one day on a mere one-time profession of faith in Jesus Christ, but that you don’t have to repent of your sins, and that you don’t have to obey the Lord, then please read the following Scriptures in their context. For one day you may stand before God convinced he is going to let you into his heaven, and Jesus’ words to you will be, “I never knew you. Depart from me you workers of iniquity” (Matthew 7:21-23).

[Matt 24:9-14; Lu 9:23-26; Rom 1:18-32; Rom 2:6-8; Rom 6:1-23; Rom 8:1-14,24; Rom 12:1-2; Rom 13:11; 1 Co 6:9-10,19-20; 2 Co 5:10,15,21; 1 Co 1:18; 1 Co 15:1-2; 2 Tim 1:8-9; Heb 9:28; 1 Pet 1:5; Gal 5:16-21; Gal 6:7-8; Eph 2:8-10; Eph 4:17-32; Eph 5:3-6; Col 1:21-23; Col 3:5-17; 1 Pet 2:24; Tit 2:11-14; 1 Jn 1:5-9; 1 Jn 2:3-6,24-25; 1 Jn 3:4-10; Heb 3:6,14-15; Heb 10:23-31; Heb 12:1-2; Rev 21:8,27; Rev 22:14-15]

The Prayer

Written by David Foster, Carole Bayer Sager,
Alberto Testa and Tony Renis

I pray you'll be our eyes
And watch us where we go
And help us to be wise
In times when we don't know

Let this be our prayer
When we lose our way
Lead us to a place
Guide us with your grace
To a place where we'll be safe.

I pray we'll find your light
And hold it in our hearts
When the stars go out each night
Remind us where you are.

Let this be our prayer
When shadows fill our day
Lead us to a place
Guide us with your grace
To a place where we'll be safe.

Miracles and the nature of God

In the gospels we're told that the miracles of Jesus manifested his glory and encouraged faith in his followers. That is the miracles (healing etc.) were not just to meet the immediate need but had a theological purpose. I think the same could be said for many (if not all) of the miracles in the OT. But what about more recent miracles?

For the sake of argument let us accept that at least some more recent healings are genuine. These may encourage faith in those affected but don't have the same kind of theological significance as, say, the parting of the Red Sea or the feeding of the 5000.

But then there are many occasions where bad things happen to people even if much prayer has been made. Doesn't this make God seem arbitrary and even unfair? Does this cast doubt on the genuineness of modern miracles?

I realize that Job was told, in effect, not to question God's actions, but non believers sometimes point to this apparent arbitrariness as a stumbling block to faith. What is the answer?

New covenant Law

Wayne Gabler said

Quote; What is the law the people are under in the 1,000 years and in the new earth era that follows? (Spoiler, Is it the Re:21 set)

That is the 2nd prophecy. The two witnesses are 4 days into their 1260-day ministry when the 5th trump sounds. Satan cannot sit on any throne until they are dead. Satan and the Beast have control of Jerusalem and then on the day the two witnesses are resurrected the Beast is sent to the lake and Satan is in chains as described at the start of Re:20. That is followed by the resurrection of the ones who will join the living. That day is day1 of that 1,000-year reign.

There is one resurrection only, that is the 2nd birth. Nobody who has eaten from the tree of life in Eze:47 (Re:20:4 list) or in Re:21 (Re:20:5) never die because nobody breaks any of the laws that were in place. Unquote.

All verses in scripture are only valid in the context their author has determined. People quote verses in contexts they provide themselves; so it no longer the Bible writer speaking, but it is the person quoting who is speaking their own stuff.

Rev 20:4 are those first raised, and with Christ they Judge the rest. Rev 20:5, “The rest of the dead lived not until the thousand should be finished”, In English this should have been in brackets, not so in Biblical Greek; it implies there are two groups, one either side of the thousand years. “ This is the first resurrection,” implying that there is more than one resurrection.

I expect that your doctrines come from Dispensationalism which would make them doctrines of men, false; had you concluded this stuff your self, that would be (gross) error.

I conclude that the two witnesses who lye dead in the street are the OT and the NT; a three and a half period of Godlessness and Lawlessness.

Wayne Gabler asked; What is the law the people are under in the 1,000 years and in the new earth era that follows? (Spoiler, Is it the Re:21 set).

“Under the Law”, is an unfortunate jargon, introduced by Paul.

All things are established in the OT, including the Law of the saved, which is the law of the kingdom of God. The new covenant is where God writes THE LAW on the mind and hearts of those saved, the Law becomes their DNA, Jer 31:33. If you need to be told what Law I cannot help further.

Sin unto death

1 John 5:14 Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. 15 And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.

16 If anyone sees his brother sinning a sin which does not lead to death, he will ask, and He will give him life for those who commit sin not leading to death. There is sin leading to death. I do not say that he should pray about that. 17 All unrighteousness is sin, and there is sin not leading to death. NKJV

In verse 16 the Christian sinning a sin that does not lead to death we are to pray for him. Still in verse 16 as a result of our intercessory prayer God will give him life. If God gives him life as a result of our prayer then the sin not unto death must lead to death. Still in verse 16 there is a sin leading to death which we are not to pray for.

How many types of death are there?

Revelation 20:14 Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. 15 And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire. NKJV

Being tossed into the lake of fire is the second death. There are no other deaths after the lake of fire. Since the lake of fire is the second death and none to follow there are 2 types of death.

Philippians 2:8 And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. NKJV

We know that Jesus' death did not lead to his being cast into the lake of fire. His death was a physical death. This must be the first type of death.

What do we know about each? The first death everyone will go through. Unbelievers as well as believers all will die eventually. That means the righteous and unrighteous will die the first death.

The second death only those not found in the book of life will die. All believer's are found in the lamb's book of life. Can a believer lose their salvation?

Colossians 1:21 1 And you, who once were alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now He has reconciled 22 in the body of His flesh through death, to present you holy, and blameless, and above reproach in His sight — 23 if indeed you continue in the faith, grounded and steadfast, and are not moved away from the hope of the gospel which you heard, which was preached to every creature under heaven, of which I, Paul, became a minister. NKJV

Jesus will keep us if we continue in the faith, not moved from the hope of the gospel.

Hebrews 3:6 but Christ as a Son over His own house, whose house we are if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm to the end. NKJV

Once again we are told if we hold on to our hope we will be in Jesus' house. Where does our hope come from?

1 Timothy 1:1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ, by the commandment of God our Savior and the Lord Jesus Christ, our hope, NKJV

Jesus is our hope. Why is our hope so important?

Colossians 1:4 since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of your love for all the saints; 5 because of the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, of which you heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel, NKJV

It seems our faith and love come from our hope. Jesus gives us this hope so He gives us faith.

Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. NKJV

If we lose hope in Jesus we lose faith in Jesus and lose salvation. We are warned to hold on to our hope. Can we lose hope in Jesus?
