  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Did we miss something about Yochanon, talmid of Yeshua?

Berchot v'Shalom be multiplied to you all; that is, Blessings and Peace;

We are all keenly aware of the arrest of Messiah and Kefa's thrice denial of Yeshua. But seldom do we note this oddity concerning Yochanon (or John, the 'second talmid' in this account). These verses begin with the arrest of Messiah:

(note: scripture quotes are from the CJB)
Joh 18:12 So the detachment of Roman soldiers and their captain, together with the Temple Guard of the Judeans, arrested Yeshua, tied him up,
Joh 18:13 and took him first to `Anan, the father-in-law of Kayafa, who was cohen gadol that fateful year.
Joh 18:14 (It was Kayafa who had advised the Judeans that it would be good for one man to die on behalf of the people.)
The above verses set the stage for the players in this drama, delineating the roles of each and the over-arching context of the arrest. We should also note that His arrest was under the command of a Roman Captain and his soldiers. Roman participation would prove a necessity should this 'crime' become a capital offence, as the Romans alone could sanction an execution. And so it becomes a fact that Judean authorities, by calling for Roman involvement, betrayed their intentions from the beginning.

Also worthy of the gentle readers attention, is that this 'trial' was conducted at night and outside the auspices of the Sanhedrin, therefore contravened the intimations and mandates of Torah; the law of Judea. Taken in total, these facts suggest that any suspicion that the verdict was a foregone conclusion was more than mere supposition. Yeshua Ha Mashiach was to be assassinated, both in character and in fact.

There is much more to this story than the forgiveness of Kefa for his denial of Yeshua or the clearly political nature of the arrest and the extremely questionable circumstances surrounding His subsequent murder. There is no shortage of expositions to this end. So, I would first direct your careful attention to the deference shown to the 'other talmid' - as John was fond of describing himself.
Joh 18:15 Shim`on Kefa and another talmid followed Yeshua. The second talmid was known to the cohen hagadol, and he went with Yeshua into the courtyard of the cohen hagadol;
Joh 18:16 but Kefa stood outside by the gate. So the other talmid, the one known to the cohen hagadol, went back out and spoke to the woman on duty at the gate, then brought Kefa inside.
It seems that the 'other talmid', for reasons unknown, was not only known to the High Priest, but had favor within the household of 'Anan (a former high priest), father in law to Kayafa (the high priest at that time). Could it be that he was related to the Hasmonean pretenders to the office of cohen hagadol (the High Priest)? How else might he be allowed to witness and live to testify to this illegal trial and its unholy proponents? Is this a case of high-held hopes of John's progenitors and close relations, perhaps even a plot to bring him back into the Hasmonean fold?

In light of the discovery of the 'Dead Sea Scrolls' in 1948, which were first attributed to 'celibate monks' and only recently linked to the Zadokim (the sons of Zadok and the scripturally designated High Priesthood determined by King David). It is clear from multiple sources that the Hasmoneans were illegally holding the coveted office of High Priest in the time of Yeshua's visitation. What is not clear to me is the status of the lesser Cohens. Were they too Hasmonean or actual Aaronic Cohens according to Torah?

As background, it should be noted that the 'other talmid' (known as John to most Christians), was estimated to be in his late teens by a majority of scholars, although certainty is elusive. But it would seem he had not the respect one might impart to another based on age and accomplishment, as he had yet to achieve either. No matter his vocation or avocations, he would be reckoned as an apprentice or student until around the age of 30 within that culture.

So how did John gain the favor shown? I suspect it was familial in nature, as you will read later. There is little doubt he was admitted into the courtyard without question, so it seems he was recognized by the keeper of the gate. The same might be said of his entry into the household of the former high priest, as this was clearly a contrived event, conducted well away from the prying eyes of the populous and the cleansing influence of sunlight.

On the topic of the 'other talmid', I found the following to be an amazing account. Astonishing really. So I bolded and underlined the germane portions; those that gives rise to a wholly new set of revelations and speculations.

Ante-Nicene Fathers, Volume 8
2nd & 3rd Centuries - Polycrates Ephesus Bishop
Remains of the Second and Third Centuries
Polycrates,1 Bishop of Ephesus.

[a.d. 130-196.] This author2 comes in as an appendix to the stories of Polycarp and Irenæus and good Anicetus, and his writings also bear upon the contrast presented by the less creditable history of Victor. If, as I suppose, the appearance of our Lord to St. John on “the Lord’s day” was on the Paschal Sunday, it may at first seem surprising that this Apostle can be claimed by Polycrates in behalf of the Eastern custom to keep Easter, with the Jews, on the fourteenth day of the moon. But to the Jews the Apostles became “as Jews” in all things tolerable, so long as the Temple stood, and while the bishops of Jerusalem were labouring to identify the Paschal Lamb with their Passover. The long survival of St. John among Jewish Christians led them to prolong this usage, no doubt, as sanctioned by his example. He foreknew it would quietly pass away.

The wise and truly Christian spirit of Irenæus prepared the way for the ultimate unanimity of the Church in a matter which lies at the base of “the Christian Sabbath,” and of our own observance of the first day of the week as a weekly Easter. Those who in our own times have revived the observance of the Jewish Sabbath, show us how much may be said on their side,3 and elucidate the tenacity of the Easterns in resisting the abolition of the Mosaic ordinance as to the Paschal, although they agreed to keep it “not with the old leaven.”

Our author belonged to a family in which he was the eighth Christian bishop; and he presided over the church of Ephesus, in which the traditions of St. John were yet fresh in men’s minds at the date of his birth. He had doubtless known Polycarp, and Irenæus also. He seems to have presided over a synod of Asiatic bishops (a.d. 196) which came together to consider this matter of the Paschal feast. It is surely noteworthy that nobody doubted that it was kept by a Christian and Apostolic ordinance. So St. Paul argues from its Christian observance, in his rebuke of the Corinthians.4 They were keeping it “unleavened” ceremonially, and he urges a spiritual unleavening as more important. The Christian hallowing of Pentecost connects with the Paschal argument. (Act_2:1, Act_10:16; 1Co_16:8) The Christian Sabbath hinges on these points.

From His Epistle to Victor and the Roman Church Concerning the Day of Keeping the Passover.

5 As for us, then, we scrupulously observe the exact day,6 neither adding nor taking away. For in Asia great luminaries7 have gone to their rest, who shall rise again in the day of the coming of the Lord, when He cometh with glory from heaven and shall raise again all the saints. I speak of Philip, one of the twelve apostles,8 who is laid to rest at Hierapolis; and his two daughters, who arrived at old age unmarried;9 his other daughter also, who passed her life10 under the influence of the Holy Spirit, and reposes at Ephesus; John, moreover, who reclined on the Lord’s bosom, and who became a priest wearing the mitre,11 and a witness and a teacher - he rests at Ephesus.

Then there is Polycarp, both bishop and martyr at Smyrna; and Thraseas from Eumenia, both bishop and martyr, who rests at Smyrna. Why should I speak of Sagaris, bishop and martyr, who rests at Laodicea? of the blessed Papirius, moreover? and of Melito the eunuch,12 who performed all his actions under the influence of the Holy Spirit, and lies at Sardis, awaiting the visitation13 from heaven, when he shall rise again from the dead? These all kept the passover on the fourteenth day of the month, in accordance with the Gospel, without ever deviating from it, but keeping to the rule of faith.

Moreover I also, Polycrates, who am the least of you all, in accordance with the tradition of my relatives, some of whom I have succeeded - seven of my relatives were bishops, and I am the eighth, and my relatives always observed the day when the people put away14 the leaven - I myself, brethren, I say, who am sixty-five years old in the Lord, and have fallen in with the brethren in all parts of the world, and have read through all Holy Scripture, am not frightened at the things which are said to terrify us. For those who are greater than I have said, “We ought to obey God rather than men.” (Act_5:29) ...

I might also have made mention of the bishops associated with me, whom it was your own desire to have called together by me, and I called them together: whose names, if I were to write them down, would amount to a great number. These bishops, on coming to see me, unworthy as I am,15 signified their united approval of the letter, knowing that I wore these grey hairs not in vain, but have always regulated my conduct in obedience to the Lord Jesus.
Although the debate concerning the changing of the weekly sabbath from the seventh day to the first day of the week is commonly known throughout Christendom, the presumption that the weekly sabbath should also be a weekly celebration of 'Easter' is less known or understood outside of the upper echelon of Roman Catholicism and academia. But this is simply an aside considering the greater question of John's familial status.

For me, the standout revelation is this: After the crucifixion of Yeshua 'John...who reclined on the Lord’s bosom...became a priest wearing the mitre'!

Wait, what? Wow!

We should note: The only cohen (priest) that wears the 'miter' (also known as that sacerdotal plate) was the High Priest. This is the same person that is the 'other talmid' that was present the night of Messiah's arrest and trial, with Peter, in the home of the Hasmonean High Priest. So this begs the question, why would John serve as High Priest after knowing the truth imparted by Messiah Yeshua?

The Ark of the Covenant had not been seen since the Babylonian captivity. The 'Presence' had departed the Temple even before then. Yeshua had revealed His true nature to His disciples. So the question remains with John - why?

Due to John's age and the fact that the Temple only stood for another forty years, had this occurred as recorded, I would presume that this event must have transpired at least fifteen years after the Crucifixion, at a minimum. But the question remains; Did he undertake such action without his Master's approval and consent? Without it, that choice would difficult for me to fathom. On the other hand, Yeshua knew John and everything about him. So this may have been Messiah Yeshua's doing. But again, why? And to what end?

While there is room galore to speculate, evidence generally supports a familial relationship to the Hasmoneans and a candidacy for that high office. But again and again, why and to what end?

With what is now known of the Hasmoneans, the Zadokites, the Pharisees, the Zealots and the many other divisions among the population and with the turmoil intrinsic to the inevitable political machinations, it is only answers to the aforementioned query, 'why?' - that are conspicuous in their absence.

That said, speculation is invited and welcomed. But please remember: This is NOT a debate about Passover or the Sabbath. Rather, it is an invitation to question what is known about Messiah Yeshua's devoted talmid John, and his serving as High Priest in the Temple Service. These are the questions that have gone begging. The rest of the information posted here becomes only context to a plethora of unrequited puzzles.

Shalom

Colorado trial of Trump eligibility to run now going to Colorado Supreme court

As you all probably know, both sides in the Colarado case are unhappy.
Suing side are outraged that the Judge decided Trump had conspired, but that President's were exempt from that Article.
Defending side are outrage that the Judge decided Tump had conspired!

But this is a State case. What even happens if the Supreme Court there rules Trump is under the Article and therefore ineligible to run?

Injuries at SpaceX go unnoticed until now

Hello folks. Space is one of my favorite subjects, and I hope that in the future, humans can return to the Moon or eventually take a round-trip to Mars, after solving societal issues on Earth first. One such societal issue has not been solved: Corporate negligence. There has been recent news about SpaceX, the company run by CEO Elon Musk which state that workers at the space launch corporation have been injured, and mistreated. Safety at SpaceX is treated as a second or third priority, while profits and speed are emphasized. There have been 600 reported injuries at SpaceX since 2014, and one employee death due to a gust of wind, which blew a worker off a crane. CEO Elon Musk has even disregarded safety protocols, disliking bright colors such as yellow safety clothing from being worn by workers. When money is placed above people, employees or customers get treated like trash.

SpaceX injuries abound: At SpaceX, worker injuries soar in Elon Musk’s rush to Mars

EDIT (11/24/2023): This thread is not a place to be victim-blaming the SpaceX workers who got injured as described in the news article. It is not very Christian to victim-blame, when we should really focus on the epidemic problems of negligence by upper management at major corporations.

EDIT (6/23/2024): Verses on safety measures

Patiently Enduring Many Sufferings

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. For as we share abundantly in Christ's sufferings, so through Christ we share abundantly in comfort too. If we are afflicted, it is for your comfort and salvation; and if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which you experience when you patiently endure the same sufferings that we suffer. Our hope for you is unshaken, for we know that as you share in our sufferings, you will also share in our comfort.” 2 Corinthians 1:3-7 ESV

If we are true followers of Jesus Christ, doing his will, serving his purposes, obeying his commands, living holy lives pleasing to God, we are going to be afflicted and persecuted, and we will go through trials and tribulations which we were destined for. These are situations in our lives which are troublesome and emotionally and/or physically disturbing and challenging, which test what we are made of. For they put pressure on us which may hem us in and may make us feel confined and without options, with no way of escape.

Now I am presently going through one of those, and this is challenging and troublesome and heartbreaking. And it is requiring having to make some very difficult decisions which impact more than just myself. There actually are two separate but connected tribulations I am presently facing, one which has been going on a very long time, but just recently got ignited again, and the other has been going on for nineteen years, mostly quietly in the background, but has just recently resurfaced. And both hit at the same time.

So, I have been praying these through for several days now, engaging in conversations with those involved, and seeking the counsel of the Lord for wisdom in making biblically sound and just and loving responses to everyone concerned. But some of this involves speaking the truth in love in these situations, and the truth is not always comfortable or welcome to talk about. Do you remember Jesus’ words to the Pharisees in Matthew 23? Most people would not consider those loving or kind words, but they were both.

And those are not comfortable situations. Confronting lies and hypocrisy and false accusations, etc., is not fun! But it is necessary. And it doesn’t always end well. Again, look at the results of Jesus’ conversations with the scribes and Pharisees and Sadducees and other Jewish people who opposed him, and who accused him falsely, and who sinned against him, even his own brothers. Look at the results of Paul’s conversations with them, as well. They crucified Jesus. Paul they put in prison for a very long time on false charges.

Nonetheless, God is still sovereign over all that he has made. He is still in control. All the days ordained for me were written down in his book before one of them came into being (Psalms 139:16). No matter all the trials and tribulations I have gone through in my life, God was still sovereign and he allowed them for his purposes to make me who I am today doing what he has called me to do for his purposes and glory and for the salvation of lives and for the encouragement of his church, the body of Christ.

And the Lord comforts us in all our afflictions and trials and tribulations. But this word comfort isn’t all just the feel good stuff. Some of it is, but not all of it. For it can involve exhortation, entreaty, urging, cautioning, warning, and even correcting and reprimanding (if we are the ones in the wrong). But it also includes reassurances, promises, cheering, and encouraging in an uplifting way. But we need to be willing to receive both correction as well as the cheering or we will never face our situations honestly and fairly.

For example, in my present trials, I have taken much time before the Lord making certain that what I am saying is the truth. And if he prompted me to correct anything I said, I immediately took care of that so that there would be no misunderstandings that I caused. I examined my own heart and mind and I listened in my own head to what was said on both sides to make certain that I was not hearing something the wrong way. And I prayed much for wisdom to know how to respond to these two situations.

So, what the above means is that, just in the same ways in which our Lord comforts us in our trials and tribulations, we need to comfort others. And it is never loving to lie to people just to make them feel good. It is never loving to withhold the truth from them that they need to hear, either, just because you don’t want to offend them. We need to speak the truth to one another, but we need to speak it in love, but love never compromises truth just to make people feel good and not offended. But be sure it is the truth.

So when we comfort others with the kind of “feel-good” comfort that everyone likes to have, we need to make certain that we are not compromising truth and righteousness, and that we are not lying to people and giving them false hopes or false promises. But most of all we need to make certain that we are being led by the Holy Spirit in what to say to others and that we don’t just react emotionally, or that if we do, that we immediately correct those situations and do not let them fester.

So, what is the comfort that I can offer to all of you today who are also going through trials and tribulations which test your faith? Pray continually! Seek God’s face! Be willing to receive both the feel good stuff and the corrections. And if you need to confess you were wrong about something, then do it. Don’t be prideful. Ask the Lord if there is anything in your life that needs changing and if this is the reason for the trial, maybe because you need to learn patience or endurance or to increase your faith and your resolve to follow the Lord in all things, even against great opposition.

And if you are at peace with God, and you have the reassurance from him that you did nothing wrong, then just keep following him in obedience in doing what he leads you to do, even if everyone deserts you like they did Jesus. For we are heading into a very difficult period of time in our world where we can see the “rising of the beast” and the changing of the seasons and that something not good is in the air, and that all this is leading to a one world order, the order of the beast. But do not fear what is inevitable!

You Loved Me

An Original Work / December 3, 2019
A song based off the poem by the same name

When I was lonely and afflicted,
You were there to pick me up.
You took me in Your arms,
And You held me tenderly.

Your love embraced me.
Your grace sustained me.

When my heart cried out to You
In my fear and my despair,
You never turned away,
But You let me know You loved me.

Your grace forgave me.
You did not shame me.

Then, when I answered the call,
“Here, Lord, send me.”
You sent me to where I must be.
Your mercy held me, did not fail me.
All this, You had planned, to use me.

And, when all trials and scorn
Came to test me.
You gave me all that I would need.
You strengthened me so I’d not fail You.
Your kindness blessed me, it touched me.

And, when I needed the church
To lift up me,
To hearten me so I’d not fail,
You blessed me with folks who would love me.
Their presence with me, Your praise hailed!

And, when I walked through the valley
Of the shadow of the death,
And tears flowed from my eyes,
Still Your kindness was there for me.

Your touch, it healed me.
For I believed You.

When now I think about the ways,
Of the many, many ways
That You in Your great love
Show me that You’ll always care for me,

My heart, it thanks You,
And gladness fills me, fills me.

Michael Voris, head of conservative religious media outlet Church Militant resigns for breaching the morality clause

In an email Tuesday afternoon, Church Militant said "Voris has been asked to resign for breaching the Church Militant morality clause. The board has accepted his resignation."

In a 14-minute video posted on X Tuesday evening, Voris did not explain why exactly he resigned, but alluded to some personal problems he's facing, referring to them as a "spiritual terror."

Voris said "sometimes it takes very horrible events, even at your own hand, in your life to surface certain things that need to be faced. There are some very, very ugly truths from my past that I for essentially 62 years have avoided facing."

Voris and the media outlet has drawn controversy for right-wing views that often criticized groups whom they believe deviated from Catholic teachings, such as LGBTQ+ people. Voris, who has said he used to sleep with both men and women, often blamed the problem of abusive Catholic priests on public acceptance of gay people and liberals in Catholic Church leadership.

I don't know if I should keep watching a show or not

Hii, first of all nice to meet you, I'm 16 and I'm from Europe :)
Sooo this might be stupid, but I don't know if I should keep watching a show called "the amazing digital circus". The first episode came out a month ago, it has become my favourite show already. :') It doesn't promote sin or anything satanic, but I read somewhere that a few people from the fandom have a theory. The last scene, when everyone is having dinner together, reminds them of Leonardo da Vinci's painting (the last supper). The main character wears the same colours as Jesus in the painting (red and blue) and some fans think someone might be a betrayer. There's also a theory about Cain and Abel because there's a character named "Caine".

Now, this maybe isn't true since fans came out with this, and I myself don't think the show has something to do with religion honestly.

What do you think about it? Even if it's just a fan's opinion and isn't confirmed, I don't want to disappoint God

Jordan Peterson

Hi There,

I notice Dr. Jordan Peterson is getting a lot of air time.

My concern is that he not only has some appeal among the intellectual elite but from many in the body of Christ also.

I am not convinced that he has moved on from his Jungian philosophical base which is subtly deceptive and dismisses the heart of the Gospel.

I would love to be corrected if anyone can give hard facts that he has a living faith in Christ.

A wealth of common sense and a sharp mind is admirable but when 1500 including many believers fly to London to hear him I feel uneasy.

My take is that he is unlikely to embrace the Gospel until he renounces the Jungian atheistic concept of "archetypes" in which God is merely a concept that man needs to believe.

I mentioned this on this forum recently: Sexuality and the church.

Read this article.

Some time ago, I believe I made some comments on a post or more from a thread by @Michie about how sexuality is going to be the next great split in the church.

It seems I am not alone in this thinking as I just came across this article.

Thinking of posting this on some pro-drug websites or atheist web sites. Thoughts? Opinions? Helpful criticism welcome!

Hello all! please give me some ideas on where to go with this post. It's intended for "psychonauts" as some terms themselves: those who use drugs for recreation for their supposed mind-expanding properties. IMO, when you expand your mind and don't only use such sub stances medicinally, a devil may well take up residence in the expansion.

Thanks!

Gentlemen and women, please let me tell you a tale of a man of excess, a pleasure-seeker who reviled the law, good sense, and God himself, and thought only of his own enjoyment first and foremost, until he was providentially acquainted with the dire consequences of his wayward thinking. This is a tale of why scripture is to be of “no private interpretation” and why instruction in scripture and proper Christian forethought is vitally important. And why addiction to drugs renders a person into a bestial state.

When this man was 23, he became obsessed with a question, subconsciously posed to him by the Lord, perhaps: “what if there is a God?” He, for some reason, perhaps his upbringing by two law-abiding parents already firmly believed that the Holy Bible is God's Word. But, he believed this in much ignorance, having never actually cracked Scripture open. When he did so, he skipped to the end, reading the Book of Revelation first, and somehow got the false and slanderous idea in his head that God would prevent the realization of sin's existence in those under his wrath, that he would not allow them to repent even if they truly wished to, so great were the weight of their fornications and drunkenness. He didn't even read the Gospels, those great messages of the possibility of repentance and restoration, nor the Lord's promises therein, until many, many years later, after the consequences of his self-destructive orgy were upon him. He nearly died, both in body and spirit, but turned from his wickedness after the Lord's retribution of long-term madness and suffering was visited upon him several times. A caution against stiffed-necked hard-headedness, the revisiting of that dog's own vomit, against relapsing into addiction! And a caution against reviling the source of all that which is good in our lives - He whom we would have nothing, and be nothing, without.

This man became despondent, thinking the Lord a monster who's wrath outweighs his love. He fell into hard drinking, sometimes consuming more than a fifth of vodka a day. For eight years his misery continued; eventually, he nearly convinced himself that there is no God, no reward or punishment except oblivion. Not properly understanding Scripture, he sought solace in form of nihilism. Eventually, he got clean of alcohol and marijuana. The Lord was helping him, even as he considered the Lord an enemy or a non-existent entity. Truly, He does love, even while the wrongheaded individual thought he was God's enemy. He had become a reviler, but in his heart, he sought not to spread his beliefs. He well knew he could be wrong, and he still possessed some love for others. He still had not cracked the Gospel and read it. But he -had- convinced himself, to the point that he could function without liquor, that at least there was no chance of going to hell. He was wrong. The Lord had plans for him – in his drunkenness, he had repeatedly begged the Lord to speak to him, to give him a sign, for understanding; he effectively demanded the Lord justify himself, which was not a wise thing to do. The Lord is sovereign over all and does not need to justify Himself, especially to an arrogant, mouthy jackanapes who didn't have the good common sense not to revile the All-Powerful Creator. This sign actually came in a daily nagging feeling that the Holy Bible might be true, something he now praises and thanks God for giving him, even though he did not recognize it as the Lord's call of him out of his sins to study and worship and obedience. But he had responded with anger and wrath and curses and reviling of the Lord without even having truly seen the Lord's message. He cursed that which he claimed did not exist, yet his actions proved that in his heart he knew there was a God, but his ignorance and prejudice prevented him from truly giving the Lord a fair hearing or reading of Scripture. He had seen what he thought were monstrous atrocities done by the Lord, not knowing or ignoring the proper Scriptural and moral context nor knowing the wrongness of his thinking. He'd even studied at skeptical, anti-Christian websites, trying to fortify his unbelief and apostasy. But, he had barely even talked to any church-going Christians or ministers. There was only one at a college he had attended, and then but a bare single time.

Later on in life, after eight years as an unemployed alcoholic, he finally started to get his life back together, or so it seemed. He got off the drink and went back to school. He got a degree and a job, and things seemed to be looking up, even if he had convinced himself that there likely was no God and that oblivion was the likely fate of all, good or evil, faithful or not, Christian, or Jew, or unbeliever, or pagan. A blotting out of the conscious mind at death is what he thought all will face, regardless of their faith or works. He was, again, very wrong. Heaven and Hell are very real. Sinful ways lead to a foretaste of the latter as this tale attests. There is an inevitable, unavoidable future state of reward or punishment. Eventually, he got what he thought was his dream job – something he truly enjoyed and could sink his teeth into. He was being helped and rewarded by the Lord for his sobriety without his even realizing it. Or giving thanks – It took him a long time to add the paradigm of faith to his way of thinking. But then he encountered other drugs, harder drugs, and his lust and curiosity got piqued. So he tried one: methamphetamine.

What followed was the loss of his career, the loss of his happiness, his sanity, nearly the love of his family, two collapsed lungs, and a short stint in jail. Others have faced far worse – years in jail, turning into hardened criminals unable to be employed, nearly, even maybe the total loss of their sanity. Perhaps only the Lord's help and grace kept him from similar circumstances. He'd begun to hear voices – terrorizing, deceiving, devilish-seeming voices, that ate at his mind every time he got intoxicated, and for days or weeks thereafter. This lasted for over five years, day in and day out. For a long period, he had used methamphetamine daily. If you are unfamiliar with the long-term effects of hard drugs and alcohol upon the mind, I implore you to acquaint yourself with them, and to remember. The horrors as described in a medical journal or a D.A.R.E. class are a pale thing compared to the fear and terror of experiencing them first-hand. Not to mention the constant distraction while at work that can occur, possibly rendering the victim unable to work and forcing them into penury or onto public assistance and welfare. All of this came from reading Scripture improperly and reviling the God who only wishes for us to love him and to love each other with a proper respect for how we are to use our minds and bodies as intended by our creator. Hating God leads to self-hatred and self-destruction. For anyone who is reading this and seeks help in getting clean, look to Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous. Both are good places to start – their philosophies rooted in repentance and helping others get clean. They helped the man of excess become a man of sobriety and forethought. And a man who helps others get clean as well. I pray that God helps you as He helped him.

FOX News: NY vehicle explosion at Rainbow Bridge border crossing is attempted terror attack: sources

The FBI is investigating a vehicle explosion Wednesday at the Rainbow Bridge border crossing between the U.S. and Canada in what sources tell Fox News was an attempted terrorist attack.

Explosives were in the vehicle at the time and two people who were in the car are dead, the sources told Fox News. A border officer was injured.

The vehicle was driving from the U.S. to Canada and were attempting to drive toward the border officer building, the sources said.

Rainbow Bridge connects Niagara Falls, New York with Niagara Falls, Canada.

Kennedy Documentary on History Channel

I have been watching and think it is pretty good. Fair and impartial, an honest look at an imperfect man.

I was wondering what people thought of his handling the Cuban missile crisis. The documentary presented three options: Attack Cuba, bomb missile sites and naval blockade the island. Kennedy went with blockade and negotiation with Nikita Khrushchev. A deal is made to remove the missiles but the U.S. also withdraws missiles from Turkey. What do you think Trump or Biden would do?

How you can travel faster than the speed of light

Finally, I found out how one can travel faster than the speed of light. All the time, we though the problem was weight, that faster you go, the heavier you get. The problem, is actually, acceleration. And the faster you go, the smaller steps of this, acceleration, you must take. There`s no, black matter, or dark energy, out there, so that`s not the problem; or the solution. With small enough steps of acceleration, the space-ship won`t know it has weight. And, to make these steps even faster, you can make the space-ship lighter with electrifying it, like you electrify an metallic triangle to hover over a table. Yes, a little bit of the problem, is that the faster you go and want to accelerate, the smaller steps in increasing speed, you must take, or else you get too heavy. There`s no matter around the space-ship to hinder it`s speed, it`s just the acceleration. Give me some points of view?

Being saved vs being a Christian.

There are pastors/teachers who say when you become a Christian, you'll start living like one. You'll develop an interest in God/Jesus. You'll develop an interest in prayer. You'll develop an interest in reading scripture. You'll start being interested in things, and start living a certain way that you didn't before you became a Christian.

And some people become furious over that and call it works salvation. But is salvation the limit to being a Christian? Can being a Christian be summed up in when you die you're going to heaven, period end of story, nothing else?

The way I look at it is, okay you're saved. Now how about being a Christian?

To me being a Christian is like being a musician. You can dress like a musician and walk around with a musical instrument and call yourself a musician. But if you don't have any interest in learning how to play an instrument. Don't have any interest in learning anything about playing music. Or practicing. Or actually ever playing music. What good is it? The point of being a musician is to be devoted to actually being a musician.

So what's the point of being a Christian if you aren't devoted to being a Christian?

What should Rahab have done instead of what she did?

All the christian commentors who talk about Rahab, judge her for lying when she lied about israelite spies to save them (Joshua 6.). But really, what else could she have done? Didn't these spies sin too, because they for sure knew what her plan was, and they were with her in it. Is it really a sin to lie to save an innocent person from murderers? Should all christians have told to nazis the truth durin 2. world war, if they were hiding jews in their houses and nazis came to ask if there are any jews in their houses?... Anyway Rahab is greatly praised in New Testament by Jacob and letter for hebrews.

Interpretation of bible scripture by different denominations

Hi,

So it seems when listening to sermons from the different denominations that regarding some bible verses they have different interpretation of bible scripture.
It is sometimes hard to determine who has the right interpretation, so what we can do personally for ourselves is, study it ourselves and than determine for ourselves which denomination has the right interpretation, but thing is, after some years one might change of opinion and consider the other denomination to have the right interpretation. Thanks that we have internet so we can do some study ourselves first, but still it can be confusing sometimes, thats why we have different denominations don't we, each thinking they have the right interpretation. Some controversial subjects are for example Cessationism versus continuationism, speaking in tongues, gift of the Spirit, calvinism vs arminianism, Apostolic-Prophetic movement and sometimes disagreement regarding some bible verses like for example:

Mark 11:24 ESV Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.

Prosperity gospel and healing gospel like to use this bible verse, the claim it method or something.

REVELATION 3

20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.

21 The one who conquers, I will grant him to sit with me on my throne, as I also conquered and sat down with my Father on his throne.

22 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.’”

IS JESUS KNOCKING ON THE DOOR?

This is the final letter to the seven churches and is probably the most severe. This church was rich beyond measure, but Jesus had a terrible verdict on this church.

When I came to faith this verse was used, but it doesn't relate to salvation. Indeed, it is both an invitation and a rebuke to the church.

Why should Jesus be standing and knocking on the door of the church? Surely the handle of the church is on the outside, and doesn't Jesus have the key?

If He had either, then surely, He wouldn't be standing outside knocking. It is because He wanted His church to invite Him in, but sadly, like this church, many of today's churches lock Jesus out of their lives.

Surely if someone knocks at the door of your house you let them in! So what are the reasons Jesus has to knock? Here are several:

Each of the five churches that are criticised in these chapters in Revelation have a reason for not opening the door.

The Ephesian church had left their first love. They wouldn't open the door because they didn't want to show Him the extent of their sin and falling away. Basically, they were ashamed to open the door. The Ephesian believers started off burning all their books of enchantment and witchcraft, but maybe this was slowly creeping into the church again? Are you afraid to open the door because you have fallen from your first love, though once you would have gladly opened the door, however now the door stays firmly shut?

A church or an individual believer doesn't usually slam the door shut on the Lord... we close it one push at a time. It starts with the something small. Maybe you prayed for one hour per day, but now you only pray for 10 minutes. Maybe you read your bible and loved to dig into the word every day, maybe now it's every week or maybe you read your bible just on Sunday or on bible study night. You still carry your bible, and everyone sees you with it, but do you currently read and obey it?

The church at Pergamum had a serious problem with false teachers. So why would they open the door? If you have false teachers in your church, they are not likely to answer the knocking of Jesus on the door. False teachers will never answer the door to Jesus! Why? Because they will be exposed by Jesus. False teachers will not answer the door to Jesus, they do not want their churches or their followers to learn about Jesus.

The church at Thyatira had a real problem with sexual sin, as it was rampant in that church. Let me ask you... if a church or an individual is full of sin, will it open the door? No, it will keep the door closed. Look at what Adam and Eve did after they sinned: they hid themselves. Psalm 32 says:

3 For when I kept silent, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long.
4 For day and night your hand was heavy upon me; my strength was dried up as by the heat of summer. Selah

5 I acknowledged my sin to you, and I did not cover my iniquity;

I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord, and you forgave the iniquity of my sin. Selah

Is your life or the life of your church full of sin? If it is, then you will find it very hard to open the door. You don't want to expose your sin to the piercing stare of the Lord. You try and hide it, but Jesus sees everything and knows everything. Do you think by keeping the door closed, that you can hide your sin?

The fourth church was Sardis: the church that had a great name, and many people called it alive, but in the opinion of Jesus it was dead. How many churches say this? We are alive, but whose opinion is that?

In fact, they are dead. That is why Jesus is knocking at the door. He is trying to wake the church up, but how can dead people open a door? Do people think you are alive? The question isn't what people think of you, it's what Jesus thinks of you. You need to wake up from your spiritual sleep and deadness and open the door, because Jesus is knocking.

The final church is probably the worst culprit. Why was this?

The Laodicean church had everything, so their door was closed. If you have everything in your house and a door-to-door salesman comes to your house, do you open the door to him/her?. No... because you already have everything.

So many churches today think they have everything, and they do. They have programmes, great buildings, great sound systems, great worship teams, but they lack one thing, and that is Jesus. The door is closed on Him, He knocks on the door.

Maybe you have everything, but again in whose estimation?

In all these churches, there is one remedy and it is this... REPENT.

If you have lost your first love.. you need to repent.

If you have false, teachers invading your life or life of your church.. you need to repent.

If you have sin, in any shape or form in your life, or in the life of your church.. you need to repent.

If you are dead and lifeless and need to wake up.. you need to repent.

If you think you have everything and need nothing.. then you need to repent.

But the promise to all who do truly repent and open the door to Jesus is intimate fellowship with Him. Some of us are fearful to open the door, because we are frightened to let Jesus see what is behind the door. But Jesus knows what is behind the door! He sees right through the door! He sees your heart believer, and you cannot hide anything from Him.

So repent, open the door and have intimate fellowship with your Saviour.

The church and the individual Christian need to open the door to Jesus. He must not be shut out of our lives, or out of our churches. He wants and desires for us to put Him at the centre of our lives.

Don't leave Him knocking at the door... let Him in.

God bless you,

Air Force warns troops to avoid pro-Trump ‘patriot’ rally

In the text message sent to the Air Force base’s service members, leadership warned “participation with groups such as Turning Point Action could jeopardize their continued service in the U.S. military.”
It has been my concern that the Democrats will continue to use the executive branch agencies, funded by taxpayer money, to promote Democrat candidates. This kind of strong-arming is exactly why I was concerned about additional IRS agents pushed by the Biden administration. Agents can tell conservatives that they may investigate them for years, and suggest things like "that Trump sign on your property isn't doing you any good." We've seen what happened to those individuals at the Capitol who did nothing violent, they were thrown in prison just like the crazies who committed violence. Banana republics use the power of the government, just as the Biden administration does, to quash political opposition. This type of activity is illegal. These government attempts to intimidate citizens must be stopped.
