  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Michael Voris resigns from Church Militant

Apparently, he resigned over breaking the morality cause and is in poor health.

I certainly understand their wanting to protect Voris' privacy,
but without defining what he specifically did to break their 'morality clause' ...
imaginations will probably run 'wild' with ideas.

I am reminded to be kind, when a Christian takes a moral fall.
Apart from the Grace of God, it can happen to any of us ...

Praying for his soul and salvation.
A tweet from Matt Gaspers sounded like Christine Niles is out too.

I’m not sure if that’s true and what her transgression was if true, but it’s a big quake in Catholic media just Voris himself being out.

I wonder what he did to violate their morality clause? We may never know.

Niles had problems with the direction of Church Militant and resigned. Voris had problems with the morality clause and was forced to resign. Neither were specific except that Niles focused in on the lack of prayer from the previously very prayerful Voris. That was her take home message. When you stop praying you get in trouble. Make a discipline of prayer, not just haphazard prayer. Hers was a very good message.

Niles is going free agent. I would want to see what she reports on in the future. I hope and pray Voris works on his salvation and sanctification quietly.

As to the particular violation, I don't need to know. I would rather not know about the gory details of sinners, be they a McCarrick or a Rupnick or a Voris or whatever. It doesn't really help me to know. Good that Church Militant had the wherewithall to actually enforce their contract. Would that a few dioceses could actually do the same.

Yes, she resigned as well.

That's interesting, they seemed so close in the past. But I can understand her point, I mean my own prayer life is nonexistent right now and it's feeding a much larger drought.

If I was a betting man I think I would guess she goes to LifeSite, those two publications seem to run in the same stream. Honestly though I wouldn't mind if we brought her on at EWTN, I'm sure they'd be really nervous about that given her role in the whole ordeal with Mike Parrot, not to mention just the overall tone of CM but if she's turning over a new leaf in any sense she could be a real valuable asset to EWTN. Especially since we're wrapping up a big expansion in our DC bureau and I think there's some new programming coming down the pike.

I hope Voris is a cautionary tale to Catholics of all sorts, to be wary of what we allow ourselves to focus on and immerse in. It's one thing to call out error and abuse and scandal when we see it, it's another to keep going and get personal. Even if he truly didn't feel hatred for anybody that he criticized, he surely flirted with it—it was surely in the air supply which could've had the same toxic effect and the effects just took longer to manifest.

She said she was going to be independent but that she wouldn't mind any future collaboration with Church Militant. I suspect she will have no problem getting work.

While praying he could be corrected. Not praying, he was drifting. Crash. Inevitable.

You need to listen to the Niles interview and apply the message to yourself. A nonexistent prayer life is a recipe for disaster. Fix that. The Lord doesn't need more soldiers who aren't listening for commands.

That kind of sounds like the Megyn Kelly route. Good for her, I hope her content's good, she's capable for sure given her scholastic background.
