"The Straight Testimony" of Ellen White

I was just listening to a video talk about this and realized this needed to be the source of a thread somewhere. Probably the best place from the "horses mouth" and looked for the first Pro Adventist site I could find based on a keyword search and found the below link as my top search.

I will however give a quote I transcribed from the video where a pastor that is a former Adventist that sparked my interest in the topic.

Pastor E-j Thunder Lauriston

"And by the way brothers and sisters as he talks about that (another former SDA who mentioned his need to earn his way into heaven)..It is not just abstinence from bacon, from coffee, and those kinds of stuff. When you read Ellen White's writings there is not enough hours in the day to do all she demands in order for you to be perfected and saved. We are talking about their devotional life which is reading her books and those she recommends. You know the Conflict of Ages series. Uriah's Smith's dying Revelation and Medical Missionary. We're talking about up to the types of food you can eat and when you can eat them. You know you mustn't eat and drink at the same time. The number of times you can chew. Dress Reform..... I mean it is just so many nit-picky and legalistic stuff and all of these brothers and sisters is what Ellen White calls "The Straight Testimony."

No one else dared join them.... need help with this

I will be teaching an adult Bible class on Acts 5: 1-15 and have some questions about verses Acts 5: 13 No one else dared join them, even though they were highly regarded by the people. 14 Nevertheless, more and more men and women believed in the Lord and were added to their number.

It seems the people did not “join them” because Acts 5: 11 “Great fear seized the whole church and all who heard about these events.”

There seems to be a contradiction here: “No one else dared join them” and “more and more men and women believed in the Lord and were added to their number”, so how do you explain this contradiction?

Where people believing in Jesus being the Messiah, yet not committing be baptized and/or place membership with the group?

Can you believe and not be committed?

Fear is driven out by Love, so can you be in the church and still lack the Love to drive out your fear?

Half my class members are student that may have to go back the communist China (one is finished a will return to Hong Kong) and Kenyan students which may have to return home, so commitment is needed before they return, so how can I help them go from “believing” to joining the effort, at some real risk to them?

What are your favorite Scripture verses in the Bible and why?

Mine is Psalm 121 A song of ascents.

I lift up my eyes to the hills-- where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot slip-- he who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The LORD watches over you-- the LORD is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. The LORD will keep you from all harm-- he will watch over your life; the LORD will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.

I like this verse because God is showing his power and authority over our enemies seen and unseen here. He reassures us that we are not alone in our battles. he reassures us that we are safe no matter what but obviously it does not mean that we should be totally careless, we should use our own minds too, etc street smartness and spiritual intuition :)

Shalom

How can a decent woman do this...

...Stop men from lusting after her?

Should she maintain a certain distance when speaking to a man, should she avoid eye contact, should she avoid being friendly?
Some women just want to be platonic, not everyone is hoping for romance or to have men lusting etc, so what advice can you give such a woman?

Fully Pleasing to Christ Jesus

Colossians 1:9-14 ESV

“And so, from the day we heard, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him: bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; being strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy; giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in light. He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.”

This is being addressed to the saints (holy ones of God) and to the faithful (full of faith) in Christ Jesus. And to be holy is to be separate (unlike, different) from the world because we are being conformed to the likeness of Jesus Christ. And it is to be holy, like God is holy, in all our conduct (actions, behaviors), which is to live godly, righteous, honest, morally pure, upright, and faithful lives in Christ Jesus. And our faith comes from God and is gifted to us by God, and it is not of our own doing, so our faith will align with the character and will of God and with the New Covenant teachings.

These faithful followers of Jesus Christ are also those who love the saints of God with a love which prefers what God prefers, and which prefers to live through Christ and to embrace his will and to obey his will in his power. And so we love with a pure love which shows love and concern for others according to the will of God, which is a love evidenced by what we do. And so we do not deliberately and/or habitually sin against our brothers and sisters in the Lord. And the word of the Lord, which we received from God, is bearing fruit (outgrowth, spiritual results) and increasing in our lives.

And so this is a prayer for us, that we would be filled with the knowledge of God’s will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him. For the Christian life is a process of salvation and sanctification, with us growing in our walks of faith, learning more and more about our Lord and his teachings, applying to our lives what we are learning, by God’s grace, and learning to live according to the will of God in doing what pleases him. For we are to live lives which are fitting and suitable to our Lord and to his will for our lives.

Yet we can do none of this in our own strength and willpower. All this comes from God. Our faith comes from him, and it is gifted to us by him, and we can’t even come to faith in Jesus Christ unless God the Father first draws us to Christ, i.e. unless he first persuades us as to his righteousness and holiness, and of our sinfulness, and of our need to repent of (turn from) our lives of sin to follow our Lord in obedience to his commands (New Covenant). We still need to do it, but we only are able to do it because of what Jesus did for us on that cross, and only in his power and strength.

And then we are to be giving thanks to the Father, for our salvation comes from him, and we can only be saved from our sins because he chose to send his only begotten Son Jesus Christ to the cross to die for our sins. For when he died, our sins died with him so that we can now die with him to sin and live to him and to his righteousness. For by God’s grace we are saved from our slavery to sin and we are empowered to live righteously. For he called us out of darkness (sin) into his wonderful light (truth and righteousness) so that we can be forgiven our sins and walk daily in obedience to him.

And so all the glory goes to God, for not one of us can live the kind of lives required of us of our own initiative or in our own strength and wisdom. We still have to cooperate with God in his work of grace in our lives, though, and we still have to obey him and to do what he says, but then he equips and empowers us to do what he says for us to do. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works which God prepared in advance that we should walk in them in his power and strength (see Ephesians 2:10).

When in The Stillness

An Original Work / September 26, 2011

When in the stillness of this moment,
Speak to me, Lord, I humbly pray.
Be my desire, set me on fire,
Teach me to love always.
Help me to walk in fellowship with You,
Listening to You; sit at Your feet.
Whisper Your words to me,
Oh, how gently, guiding me in Your truth.

While we are waiting for Your blessing,
Lord, in our hearts be King today.
Help us to live for you ev’ry moment,
List’ning to what You say.
May we not stray from your word within us,
Help us obey You, Lord, in all things,
Walking each moment, Lord, in Your presence,
Our offerings to You bring.

Help us to love You, Lord, our master;
Be an example of Your love,
Helping the hurting, lift up the fallen,
Showing them Your great love.
Teach them to love You, follow You always,
Bearing their cross and turning from sin;
Walking in daily fellowship with You,
Making You Lord and King.

Prayers for a co-worker’s mother

CF friends, please...need some prayers for a co-worker’s mother (as well as him) who suffers from schizophrenia. May God keep her under His Graceful watch and may she continue finding comfort from her son, who is the main caregiver to his mother. May he also be granted with more patience and strength to continue to provide for his mum. Thank you, Lord....Amen.

Multiple Angelic Falls? – The Challenge of Enoch, Jewish Tradition, & the Early Church

Peace be with all of you, brethren and sistren: שָׁלוֹם, Ειρήνη, Pax! (cf. John 19:20).

I recently had a wonderful, faith-rejuvenating stay at a Ukrainian Greek Catholic monastery in California. The monks there follow the Rite of the Great Church of Constantinople (Byzantine Rite) according to the Ukrainian Slavic type. They are truly authentic & genuine; godly men seeking to live their tradition and love the Lord with all their hearts. I was most blessed to be with them!

As is customary during breakfast, a table reading is done whilst the monks eat in silence. The reader for this meal with one of the novices. He read from a book by an Eastern Orthodox priest which discussed the nature of the Gospel from an Eastern view. One of the striking claims he made in the book was that there was not only a single Fall of the Angels, but subsequent ones as well. These continued until the Great Flood, which was in part a response to these successive angelic falls. The priest further argued that one of the major missions of Christ, beyond redemption for mankind, was to conquer these demonic beings that had effectively taken rulership of most of the nations. As a former Dominican friar and seminarian, I immediately connected this book with the Enochian tradition of Second Temple Judaism, as well as the "Christus Victor" view of Atonement that is cherished in the East.

Yet, at the same time, I was troubled by this. My own Roman/Western Catholic (shared by most Protestants) is that Satan and his angels' Fall was a once-and-for-all event. After it, demons began to exist and perhaps Hell as well. Yet, this very clear-cut view does not seem to have been how the Second Temple Jews or even some Early Fathers conceived of the Fall of Satan. If you went back in time, many would probably agree that Satan (the twelve-winged leader of the fallen angels) fell at an early point, but they would also tell you that much of the evil of the world was also due to the fall of the "Watchers."

To make a long story short, the Enochian tradition (popular in ancient Judaism & early Christianity) proposed that there was a Fall of about 200 angels due to lusting after human women. Indeed, this Enochian idea is probably rooted in Genesis 6:1-4, and derives from it (more on that later!). Basically, Azazel & Samyaza, their leaders, makes them bind an oath that, if they do this, they will not repent. They agree and make the oath on Mt. Hermon in Israel, which gives the mountain its name. They take human women as "brides," but also teach mankind things we were not ready to know. Weaponry, astrology, make-up to be more sexually attractive, metal-working, mining, etc. Worse, the offspring of these demonic-human unions were Nephilim (Aramaic: "giants"). Apparently they made slaves of most of the sons of St. Adam, forcing them to provide them with food. But the voracious appetite of the giants outstripped the human ability to produce...and so the Nephilim began eating humans. The cries of suffering and calling out to God were heard by the Archangels. God, in turn, sent them forth to defeat and bring the situation under control. Moreover, he chose a righteous son of St. Seth, St. Enoch, to be His prophet. The Watchers, interestingly, beg Enoch to intercede before God for them, having now seen the horrors they had created. St. Enoch does as they ask, but God refuses their half-hearted "repentance." Subsequently, he punishes the main perpetrators (importantly, Azazel is bound deep in the deserts; cf. Leviticus 16) and prepares a Great Flood to wipe out both the wickedness of man and the giants. St. Noah is given warning in advance after St. Enoch is taken into Heaven, and the story follows more or less as Genesis recounts it.

According to most Jews and some early Christians (even orthodox ones), much of the evils of the world are due to this "Fall of Azazel" (distinct from Satan's Fall). It has interesting parallels also with the other ancient stories, like Prometheus in Greece, for example.

Over time however the Apostolic Church judged by the Holy Spirit that 1 Enoch, while long having been reverenced, was not inspired and thus not to be included in the canon. It wasn't long after that point that 1 Enoch began to fade away; being copied less and less. In our day and age, only the Ge'ez Ethiopian version of 1 Enoch contains the entirety of the book, although most scholars have compared it with Greek survivals and it does appear quite accurate as a translation.

All that aside, I have been reflecting and discerning on this idea of multiple falls of angels. My Thomistic training suggests it is metaphysically problematic. My Catholic Faith tells me that it is unlikely given the common teaching. Yet, my Church has never formally ruled one way or the other. Moreover, non-Roman Catholics have a variety of views on this, some of them not that different from that Eastern Orthodox priest's book.

Could it really be possible that, even after Satan fell from Heaven, other angels subsequently followed his example at later times? There's nothing I know of in angelology that rules it out per se, and if we take into account the story of Lot (cf. Genesis 19:10), for example, angelic beings do seem to have the capacity (the "how" is uncertain) to take physicality or engage in it functionally. Is it so far-fetched that they could have done something abominable with those women, bringing forth monstrous giants? Is it so impossible, to put it another way, that they manipulated human reproduction out of envy for our ability to procreate with God?

Indeed, it has long been held that Satan and the demonic envy mankind because God has given us the ability to "create" with Him. No demon, not even Satan himself, can create...he can only corrupt what is made, or otherwise alter it. Thus, a truly wicked and abominable thing (quite worthy of a catastrophic Flood!) would have been to try to manipulate or ape the gift that God gave to humanity alone as beings both spiritual and material. And the results of such wickedness were monstrosities in the most basic sense of the term.

Honestly, I go back and forth on this...especially since no definitive judgement by my Church has been made. But here is my current hypothesis, which I'd like to discuss with anyone willing:

I. God creates Adam. Satan is disgusted that a creature made from dust, a hybrid of matter and spirit, is so loved by God. Out of envy, pride in his glory, and disobedience, he rebels. Satan is defeated with those angels who joined him, and cast down. Presumably this is also when Hell begins to exist.

II. After mankind has grown numerous, angels in Heaven become fascinated by us to the point of temptation. "They can do what we cannot..." perhaps they thought, and so decided to rebel against God as Satan did...but for a different purpose. This fall, which I call "Azazel's Fall" or "The Fall of Hermon" is motivated by slightly different interests, but is nevertheless deeply sinful and wicked. It spreads sinful ideas among mankind, and creates unnatural things that warp God's good Creation. The results are catastrophic and God must intervene drastically. Hence, the Great Flood. Due to the planetary & spiritual upheaval of the Deluge, the postdiluvian world sees no more falling of angels. The enmity and sides, effectively, become rigid.

III. Despite the Great Flood bringing stability, the demons begin to dominate mankind by ruling nations (2 Corinthians 4:3-4). There is Biblical warrant for this, which I can discuss later. This total domination, allowed by human sin, is checked slightly by the faith of Abraham and the creation of the People of Israel, with whom God uniquely interacts. Through them, God brings Christ Jesus, who through His Passion, Death, and Resurrection conquers the demons and takes away their dominion. He also passes judgement on them (John 16:11), which will come to pass at the Second Coming.

It's not an entirely indefensible proposition, however weird it may sound. And I wonder: Does it give us more insight into how our earliest forefathers in the Faith actually perceived their world?

What think you, my brothers and sisters?

Cardinal Parolin says he’s opposed to the German bishops’ same-sex blessings. That’s good. But the reasons he gave are troubling...

In an interview Cardinal Parolin: 'A ceasefire, first step for peace in Ukraine' - Vatican News posted today, Cardinal Pietro Parolin expressed opposition to the German bishops’ decision to offer blessings for same-sex unions. So far, so good. But the reasons that the Vatican Secretary of State gave for that opposition are troubling.

Cardinal Parolin said that the German episcopal conference “cannot make such a decision that involves the discipline of the universal Church.”

Well, first of all, the German bishops did make that decision. The German bishops voted 38-9 in favor the statement passed by the Synodal Path, “Blessing ceremonies for couples who love each other.” When he says that the German bishops “cannot” make that decision, presumably Cardinal Parolin means that they do not have the authority to do so. But with or without proper authority, the clear majority of German bishops have given their support for the measure, and thrown their support behind the Synodal Path.

So now what?

The German bishops (the majority, at least) have done what they have no right to do. How will the Vatican react? To date the statements from Rome—including this statement by Cardinal Parolin—have been cautious, measured, obviously designed to avoid a confrontation. But the German bishops have ignored the counsels of caution and pressed the issue. Cardinal Walter Kasper—no stodgy conservative—has characterized the Synodal Path as an “attempted coup,” and warned that the German hierarchy is on the brink of schism. The cautionary statements from Rome are now routinely ignored. Sooner or later the Vatican must draw the line.

But there is another disturbing note in Cardinal Parolin’s statement. He says that the German hierarchy “cannot make such a decision that involves the discipline of the universal Church.” The discipline of the Church—as opposed to the doctrine? Perhaps the cardinal misspoke, or perhaps the translation is faulty. But Cardinal Parolin is usually quite careful with his words, and this is the official translation from Vatican News.

The Good News and Bad News of Babylon 5

I just learned some "Good News and Bad News" for Babylon 5 fans.

The Good News, Babylon 5 should be coming soon to Roku (Yeah me! I can watch it on the big screen, and easier too than my old DVDs). The Bad News, apparently all the talk of a "Reboot" of the series that was supposed to be likely is actually much more in the air based on a recent Bruce Boxleitner interview. He says it's future will be determined by all the restructuring taking place currently at various TV Networks like the CW and a few other places. Of course, with that place as an example (the CW) it would have me worried that a reboot would turn into an unwatchable Woke nightmare.... I would hope TV executives would learn their lesson on this stuff, but snatching defeat from the jaws of victory seems like a special talent have had when it comes to running shows and movie franchises into the ground. I mean really, things have been so bad, I'm pretty confident that I as a complete newbie would do a better job because I would at least respect the source material, try to give the loyal fans what they want, and more importantly would not insult them for wanting their traditional heroic story, rather a way to preach to them.

Recurring dream about a weird island

In the dream, I am with parents and sister, going to a nearby beach on foot going down a mountain seemingly made out of solid rock with some trees growing on it.

Then we come across this weird looking island just off the cliff. There's a natural bridge connecting the mountain to this island so we can simply walk to it. The island is about a hundred meters wide and about a kilometer long. It is also about a hundred meters high above the water. It is made entirely of exposed rock with very little vegetation growing it, just some few flower-bearing wild plants growing out of the cracks. The curious feature of this island is having regular hollow spaces within it.

The hollow spaces are huge and comes out to the sides and a bit to the top so you can fall into it if you don't watch where your going. The island itself is gently sloping downwards while the width is almost constant and gently tapers at the end to a point.

I often visit this place in dreams. It's a nice and happy dream with family where everyone is happy and the scenery is breathtaking so it's not a surprise my mind takes me there often.

But it wasn't until a few days ago, the dream got seared into my conscious memory pretty good that I got better overall imagery of the island. Apparently, those rocky formations is the skull of an unimaginably large animal. Specifically that of a 'Theropod'- like animal like the T-rex or even a bird, except, extraordinarily gigantic in size. It is literally a 'skull island' because the island is literally the skull of an extraordinarily large animal.

Jordan Peterson jumps five sharks in a row

Jordan Peterson had a Twitter spat with the Pope, of all people

It's almost amusing when an agnostic intellectual whose specialty is in lobster hierarchies, and trying to convince overgrown manchildren in their parents basements that cleaning up their rooms will make them into mythic heroes, attempts to school the Pope on Christian social teachings that are 2500 years old.

When did the church which is Christ’s body begin? Study series. Lesson#1 Israel’s position of preeminence in Gods Kingdom.

When did the church which is Christ’s body begin? Study series.

Lesson#1 Israel’s position of preeminence in Gods Kingdom over the rest of the Nations.

The first thing I would like to establish among the different positions held concerning the creation of the body of Christ, is Israel’s place in scripture; and what exactly is the inheritance that has been allotted to Israel, and what was the hope of the people of the nation when we open the N.T, in fulfillment of their covenanted promises, for we know that ever jot and title of Gods word will come to fulfillment!

In the call of Abram, God promised to make of him a great nation, and bless him, and make his name great, and he shall be a blessing. God would bless those who bless him (Abram) and curse those who curse him, and in Abram all the families of the earth shall be blessed (Gen.12:1-3).

In this foundational scripture there are many layers of meaning that are progressively revealed through God’s word, especially by our Apostle Paul, to which we will save for a later study as we progress.

While all blessing is centered in Christ, the seed of Abraham, I would like to look at the specifics of the greatness mentioned here, and the blessing that will be received by the nations for blessing Israel, along with the cures that will be received for cursing Israel, we find this to be the meaning as we follow this theme. The scriptures below show the position of preeminence Israel has in God’s kingdom over the rest of the nations of the earth.

That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the seashore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies;(Gen.22:17-18)

Let peoples serve you, And nations bow down to you. Be master over your brethren, And let your mother’s sons bow down to you. Cursed be everyone who curses you, And blessed be those who bless you!” (Gen.26:29)

Judah, your brothers shall praise you. Your hand shall be on the necks of your enemies; your father’s sons shall bow down to you. Judah is a young lion—my son, you return from the prey. Like a lion he crouches and lies down; like a lioness, who dares to rouse him? The scepter will not depart from Judah, nor the staff from between his feet, until Shiloh comes, and the allegiance of the nations is his. (Gen.49:8-10)

Here we have the blessing of the firstborn right which concerns abundant life and a position of preeminence; this spiritual blessing is passed down through the patriarch and would find its fulfillment in Gods Kingdom, the nation of Israel has the first born right over all the nations of the earth, when Christ returns to establish the kingdom of God, He will rule through the nation, for Israel is heir of Gods Kingdom over the nations (). When Christ returns, Israel will shine with glory of God, and all nations shall go to Israel, who will be a kingdom of priests that will bring the truth of God to a lost would, and minister between God and the nations. The nations shall tithe to Israel with the gift offerings of riches, blessing Israel and bowing down in obeisance.

Strangers will stand and feed your flocks, and foreigners will be your plowmen and vinedressers.6But you will be called the priests of the LORD; they will speak of you as ministers of our God; you will feed on the wealth of nations, and you will boast in their riches.7Instead of shame, My people will have a double portion, and instead of humiliation, they will rejoice in their share; and so they will inherit a double portion in their land, and everlasting joy will be theirs.8For I, the LORD, love justice; I hate robbery and iniquity; in My faithfulness I will give them their recompense and make an everlasting covenant with them.9Their descendants will be known among the nations, and their offspring among the peoples. All who see them will acknowledge they are a people the LORD has blessed.10I will rejoice greatly in the LORD, my soul will exult in my God; for He has clothed me with garments of salvation and wrapped me in a robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom wears a priestly headdress, as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.11For as the earth brings forth its growth, and as a garden enables seed to spring up, so the Lord GOD will cause righteousness and praise to spring up before all the nations.

1 “Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD rises upon you.2 See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples, but the LORD rises upon you and his glory appears over you.3 Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your dawn.4 “Lift up your eyes and look about you: All assemble and come to you; your sons come from afar, and your daughters are carried on the hip.5 Then you will look and be radiant, your heart will throb and swell with joy; the wealth on the seas will be brought to you, to you the riches of the nations will come 6 Herds of camels will cover your land, young camels of Midian and Ephah. And all from Sheba will come, bearing gold and incense and proclaiming the praise of the LORD.7 All Kedar’s flocks will be gathered to you, the rams of Nebaioth will serve you; they will be accepted as offerings on my altar, and I will adorn my glorious temple.8 “Who are these that fly along like clouds, like doves to their nests?9 Surely the islands look to me; in the lead are the ships of Tarshish, bringing your children from afar, with their silver and gold, to the honor of the LORD your God, the Holy One of Israel, for he has endowed you with splendor.10 “Foreigners will rebuild your walls, and their kings will serve you. Though in anger I struck you, in favor I will show you compassion.11 Your gates will always stand open, they will never be shut, day or night, so that people may bring you the wealth of the nations— their kings led in triumphal procession.12 For the nation or kingdom that will not serve you will perish; it will be utterly ruined.13 “The glory of Lebanon will come to you, the juniper, the fir and the cypress together, to adorn my sanctuary; and I will glorify the place for my feet.14 The children of your oppressors will come bowing before you; all who despise you will bow down at your feet and will call you the City of the LORD, Zion of the Holy One of Israel.

22This is what the Lord GOD says: “Behold, I will lift My hand to the nations, and raise My banner to the peoples. They will bring your sons in their arms and carry your daughters on their shoulders.23Kings will be your foster fathers, and their queens your nursing mothers. They will bow to you face down and lick the dust at your feet. Then you will know that I am the LORD; those who hope in Me will never be put to shame.”

These scriptures will find their full consummation in Israels kingdom: note the greatness of the nation, in being a great multitude, as well as the blessed preeminent firstborn position, all nations will pour unto Israel paying homage to the nation, with gifts of tribute knowing that the God of Israel, is the God of gods and Lod of Lords, and Israel His blessed people, all the nations of the earth that submit to Gods rule through His ruling Nation, will be blessed with world peace, agricultural blessing, health, along with the longevity of life (Isa.2:1-4; Zech.14:16-21).

When we open the pages of the New Testament, we find the nation of Israel still under gentile oppression for their violation of the mosaic covenant, the times of the gentiles where still under way they nation was looking for their full national restoration in fulfillment of Daniels 70-week prophecy (Lk.2:1-2; Dan. 9:1-27)).The faithful members of the nation were waiting for the Coming messiah that would redeem the nation and restore the Kingdom to Israel, waiting for the coming of the crushing stone, that would crush the gentile oppressive beast kingdoms of this earth, and would establish the kingdom of heaven on earth, to which Israel would rule (Lk.1:72-80;2:30-32,36-38; 24:21; Acts.1:6; Dan.2:36-45;7:27)

The Blob That Will Eat Florida

A vast sargassum blob is approaching the Gulf of Mexico. It will suffocate fish, take over the beaches, and consume all human life it encounters. Or at least it will make a big, stinky, slimy mess. Can Florida survive this imminent catastrophe? No boating. No fishing. No surfing! And no beach tanning. It might as well be the apocalypse for the tourism industry. Only mad science can save the state now.

The Order of Salavation

John 14:15-16 "If you love Me, keep My commandments. And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever …

John 14:2-24 He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him." Judas (not Iscariot) said to Him, "Lord, how is it that You will manifest Yourself to us, and not to the world?" Jesus answered and said to him, "If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him. He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine but the Father's who sent Me.

These verses regarding receiving the Holy Spirit, show us that obedience to God is very important in His eyes. Although it could be said that the primary work is faith in Jesus (John 6:29), His ability to forgive us our sins, it does not stop there. The scripture strongly shows the need for repentance, turning away from, sin. The order of receiving the Holy Spirit is:

  1. We receive God’s commands
  2. If we keep them, God will love us
  3. God will manifest Himself to those He loves
The Early Church Father Justin Martyr (110-165 A.D.) in his First Apology states:
Chap. X. — How God Is to Be Served.

… if men by their works show themselves worthy of this His design, they are deemed worthy, and so we have received — of reigning in company with Him, being delivered from corruption and suffering. For as in the beginning He created us when we were not, so do we consider that, in like manner, those who choose what is pleasing to Him are, on account of their choice, deemed worthy of incorruption and of fellowship with Him.

Also Dialogue of Justin, Philosopher and Martyr, with Trypho, a Jew.
Chap. LXXXVIII. — Christ Has Not Received the Holy Spirit on Account of Poverty.

For God, wishing both angels and men, who were endowed with freewill, and at their own disposal, to do whatever He had strengthened each to do, made them so, that if they chose the things acceptable to Himself, He would keep them free from death and from punishment; but that if they did evil, He would punish each as He sees fit.

What is Science? Is it in the Bible?

I have a copy of my son's high school biology book. We are told that: "Science is a way of knowing". There are many definitions for Science but Knowing or Knowledge seems to be a part of all of all of them.

So is Science in the Bible. The word Know or Knowledge is found a lot in the Bible. For example Hosea 4:6. "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because you have rejected knowledge, I will also reject you".

Can a true man of science reject the Bible? I do not think so. The Bible has many verses that refer to knowledge, wisdom, and understanding, and emphasizes the importance of seeking knowledge in order to live a meaningful and fulfilling life.

Florida TV Cuts Feed as Ron DeSantis Shows Explicit Content in School Books

  • Gov. Ron DeSantis showed a video featuring explicit content in some books pulled from schools during a news conference.
  • Some news stations cut their live feeds when books with graphic content were displayed

I think this situation would create a bit of a conundrum and highlights the issues with getting "dug in" to a particular "side" of the debate. Tampa's NBC affiliate hasn't been shy about bashing DeSantis for the Florida GOP efforts to remove books from schools, and by taking something of an absolutist stance (rather than wanting take a more nuanced approach), basically allowed themselves to be set up.

I don't think it was any random coincidence that he happen to choose the books "gender queer" and "flamer" to show excerpts from in the preprepared montage that he showed. Most books with an LGBT character or "LGBT Acceptance" theme aren't that graphic and don't contain that kind of content. But by taking a blanket approach of "any effort to remove any LGBT book is bad because we need to fight against the GOP", they walked right into the "egg in the face" trap where they've defended certain books being in libraries in schools that they don't even feel comfortable showing to adults who may be watching their news broadcast.

And hopefully that was a "teachable moment" for them that highlights why the best response to "censor all LGBT books" isn't always "defend all LGBT books at all costs".

It sort of ties in with the things that Democratic strategist and author Ruy Teixeira (Senior Fellow at progressive think tank orgs like Center for American Progress and Brookings Institute) mentioned when he wrote the piece called "The Fox News Fallacy", in which he says
"This is the idea that if <insert prominent conservative pundit/outlet/politician> criticizes the Democrats for X then there must be absolutely nothing to X and the job of Democrats is to assert that loudly and often." and said "It’s Blinding the Democrats to Real Problems".

It would've been better for progressives to say "Okay, well...he's right about some of these books so go ahead and remove those particular ones from schools, but he's using those extreme examples of why he should ban all of them so we still need to fight for the rest of the books to remain" instead of what they did do, which was to pretend that objections to books like "Gender Queer" was a "nothingburger" and some even went as far as defending it as "appropriate for schools" and passed it off as a "regular ol' coming of age book, just from a LGBT perspective"

When God Gives You A Word

Eph. 1:16-18 Wherefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love unto all the saints, 16 Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers; 17 That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: 18 The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints. And we know that spirit is The Holy Spirit.

1 Corinthians 2:9,10 says, But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. 10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.

Now, what is revelation- It means to uncover, to pull the cover off, make known. Notice, to pull the cover off so the implication is that something is there and when it's uncovered you are able to see it. And not outside, but inside that's the eyes of your understanding being enlightened. Revelation knowledge is higher than natural knowledge, revelation deals with the spiritual. It shows you realities in the spirit. That's what 2 Corinthians 4:18 is referring to: starting at verse 16 For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. 17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; 18 While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal. This inward man is the one that receives the word from God (Proverbs 20:27) The spirit of man is the candle of The Lord, God speaks to the inward man not the outward man. So, if God speaks to the inward man then I need to pay attention to him. Why, because he is capable of operating on a higher level than the outward man. Jesus said something in Matthew 12:33 Either make the tree good, and his fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and his fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by his fruit.

Notice, what he is saying what is seen is dependent on the unseen. The tree and it's fruit is a product of the roots and where are the roots in the unseen. The finished tree with it's fruit in the seen grew out of the roots unseen. That's Heb. 11:3 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear. The physical material world (the seen) is simply a manifestation or fruit of the spiritual world (the unseen). That's why in 2Cor 4:18 it says while we look not at the things which are seen (that's the fruit), but at the things not seen (that's the roots). Notice, when Jesus cursed that fig tree it dried up from the what, roots. Notice, again what happened in the unseen determined what happened in the seen. And notice, what Jesus goes on to say in Matthew 12:34,35 O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh. 35 A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things. That's why God gives you a word, because he wants that word in you in abundance (Let the word dwell in you richly) because whatever words are in you in abundance is what you will speak and bring forth.

For example the woman with the issue of blood in Mark 5:25-34 notice in verse 28 For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole. (That word said in the concordance means a repeated action. Like it says in the amplified version- "For she kept saying". What is she doing getting that word in her in abundance.) (But, what she was saying was her revelation about Jesus). And when she touched the hem of his garment immediately she was healed. And in verse 34 Jesus told her, " Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague." Notice, she kept saying and that word got in her in abundance until she spoke it out and brought that thing forth that's why it says in verse 30 Jesus turned to see her that had done this thing, she brought that forth. She looked not at the thing that was seen, but at the thing which was not seen. That word was a spiritual reality. That was her revelation that she received. And that word did just like Jesus, the word became flesh or manifested. Any word that you can get in you in abundance and speak out can become flesh. Notice, she received what she believed and said. Well, that's Mark 11:23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. Notice, you receive according to your revelation.

Notice, in that instance she received according to her revelation about Jesus. She received what she believed and said. What came out of her determined the outcome and not the circumstance. That's why when you are going through something the thing to do is not keeping your mouth shut. Hebrews 11:3 the worlds were framed by the word of God so that things which are seen were made of things which do appear. Romans 10:8 says, But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach. So, when God was speaking in creation He was not just speaking He was releasing faith. But, once He said "Let them have dominion" it was no longer the faith that comes out of his mouth that brings forth into the earth, but the faith that comes out of man's mouth. That's how a man brings forth either good or evil thing. For example, when God told Abraham that he made him a father of many nation, it had no effect on him physically. Because, when He said that Romans 4:19 says, that his body was dead. But, notice God changed his name from Abram-High father to Abraham-Father of a multitude. Why, because faith comes by hearing and it worked because Romans 4:20 says, He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God. Notice, the change didn't come into the physical when it came out of God's mouth, no the change came into the physical when it came out of Abraham's mouth. Because, God got his faith and his mouth in line with his word. See, now it's the faith that comes out of man. That's why she received according to her revelation in Mark 5 because her faith and mouth came in line with the word. And any revelation you line your faith and mouth with you can receive. Revelation is not subject to circumstances, but takes you above the circumstances. It's a higher way of operating. You get a word from God and release your faith in it and it's a wrap, it's over. I don't care if they tell you that you will be dead by 12 noon and it's already 11:55 if you get a word/a revelation from God and release your faith in it, it's over.

It is not God's will that any should perish. And I wouldn't want to end this article without giving someone the opportunity to receive Jesus as their Lord and Savior. It's very easy just pray: Dear God- I know I have sinned and I now turn from them and I invite Jesus to come into my heart (Revelation 3:20). He died for my sins and you have raised him from the dead and I now confess that Jesus is my Lord and Savior (Romans 10:9,10). I thank you for saving me, Amen
